Happy New Year! Imagine the Possiblities :-)

Happy New Year Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO87 SU-Only Challenge- the theme is “Colors of January” and I decided to add The Friday Mashup! FM140 Challenge.

When I think of January colors, I think of the New Year along with the elegant colors of Gold, Silver, Black and White and in the Mid-Atlantic states, January generally means snow.

I decided to use My Digital Studio (MDS) to create this card but the stamp set would work just as well….

To create this card:
Open a blank 8.5 x 11 project in MDS insert the Lovely As A Tree image (the trees in a row), copy and insert a second image.  Change the color on the second image to Smoky Slate and position behind and to the left of the first image.
Insert the large pine image and enlarge a bit, copy and add a second image directly on top of the first image (to darken and thicken the pine needles).
Insert the sentiment from Word Play – re-size and position in the lower right hand corner.   Go to the Arrange tab and “group” the entire arrangement and re-size to fit your card. Print onto Whisper White cardstock and hand trim around the large pine (gently fold the top of the tree down) and use the trimmer to cut around the scene.
Create a mask from a sticky note and use a Sponge Dauber to apply Smoky Slate Classic Ink for snow banks and in the sky area.
Adhere to a trimmed piece of Basic Black cardstock and again onto a trimmed piece of Silver Foil paper.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Trim and mount onto a Basic Black card front.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz™ Original Die to cut the “2014” out of Gold Foil paper.  Emboss the numbers along with a scrap strip of Gold Foil paper with the Big Shot™ and the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.
Adhere the embossed Gold Foil paper strips to the sides of the card front (I used Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive) and mount the tree image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.   Add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow to the lower left hand corner of the image.
Punch a circle from Basic Black cardstock using the ¾” Circle Punch and adhere a Frosted Finishes Embellishment to the center.
Add the embossed Gold Foil numbers to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® overlapping a bit and adhere the Frosted Finishes Embellishment in the center of the zero.
Mount the entire card panel to the Whisper White card base.
Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Word Play (both MDS)
Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Smoky Slate
Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver and Gold Foil
Accessories: Big Shot™, Stylish Stripes and Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Frosted Finishes Embellishment, Sponge Dauber, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon
Thanks again for stopping by- I hope you will find the time to visit us and enter your project into the SU-Only SUO87 “January Colors” Challenge.

Have a Happy New Year!!

DD83 Happy Birthday!

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to share with you the card that I created for my husband’s birthday using the DD83 Dynamic Duos ColorChallenge (I could not post this the week of the actual challenge since his birthday had not occurred yet :-)

We love to watch birds and the Canadian Goose in Wetlands seemed to be the perfect choice for his card this year- I did not add pearls but did sneak in a satin bow (real men love ribbon- right?) :-)

To create this card:
Stamp the Canadian Goose image from Wetlands using Basic Black Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and also onto a piece of sticky note paper (making sure that some of the sticky strip is under your stamped image).  Cut out the image from the sticky note and place the mask over the Canadian Goose.
Punch out a circle using the 1 ¼” Circle Punch from another sticky note and place the circle part of the mask over the Canadian Goose image and using a Sponge Dauber with Marina Mist Classic Ink, create the sky portion.  Remove the circle mask and lightly sponge a bit of Marina Mist Classic Ink in a circular pattern over the moon to give more dimension.
Keep the mask in place for the Canadian Goose image and sponge Crumb Cake Classic Ink along the bottom to create the foreground.
Remove the masks and stamp the grassy image from Wetlands using Basic Black Classic Ink along the right hand side (stamp a few times to build up the grasses).
Color the Canadian Goose image using the AquaPainter™ with Crumb Cake and Basic Gray Classic Ink.  Add additional details with the Stampin’ Write Basic Black marker- darken the neck and face area, add lines for the feathers on the body of the goose and add additional grass lines to tie the foreground to the grasses on the right.
Use the retired Color Spritzer Tool with the Basic Black Marker to lightly spritz the lower and left hand side of the image (replace the masks for the Canadian Goose and moon before spritzing).   Remove the masks and add a few details to the grassy areas using the Chalk Marker as well as the eye and neck/cheek area of the Canadian Goose image.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Deco Labels Framelits™ to cut out the image, layer onto a Chalk Talk tag (split into two and separated to elongate behind the image) and a 2 ½” Circle cut into two and adhered behind the image showing on the sides only.
Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Chevron Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (only emboss 2/3 of the layer).  Add the Marina Mist Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the Basic Black scrap strips at the top and bottom (to give the appearance of being layered onto Basic Black but not the weight for mailing).
Add the ½” Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon and adhere the entire panel onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and again onto the Whisper White card base.
To finish off the card, add the Canadian Goose focal tag image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® along with the banner sentiment and 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow.

Stamp Sets: Wetlands

Ink: Basic Black, Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, Chalk Marker, Stampin’ Write Basic Black Marker

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Marina Mist DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Chevron Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Deco Labels and Chalk Talk Framelits™, Sponge Daubers, 2 ½” Circle and Hexagon Punch, ½” Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon, retired products- Color Spritzer Tool,  5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon

PPA185 Dogwood Sympathy

Hi Stampers!!

I just love this week’s Pals Paper Arts PPA185 Sketch Challenge - in fact, I love all of their challenges (they have two sketch challenges and two color challenges each month:-)).  I also thought this sketch would work well for one of the Best of 25 Stamp sets, Best of Sale-A-Bration  (the dogwood image in this set was one of my very favorite SAB stamps- so thrilled to see the smaller version :-)).  Also, as you can see, I decided to flip the sketch sideways - another reason I love sketch challenges!

Trust me, once you start this card did not take long to create- in fact, it took longer to get a photograph than the creation of the card- geesh!  For some reason, the sheen on the Very Vanilla cardstock caused major issues with the photo clarity – will have to keep this in mind for next time  :-)

Again, if you have not already done so, I hope you will find the time to stop by the Pals Paper Arts site and check out all of the designs- their Design Teams are wonderful as well as all of the other entries and interpretations of the sketch!!

To create this card:

Stamp the dogwood from Best of Sale-A-Bration using Basic Black Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and use Stampin’ Write markers to color the image (Pink Pirouette for the blossoms, Pistachio Pudding for the leaves, So Saffron for the center and Coastal Cabana in the background).  Trim around the edges of the dogwood image and set aside.

Repeatedly stamp the script stamp from Notable Notions using Basic Black ink (stamping off first, huffing for the repeated stamping) onto two pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock- one for the card front (4” x 5.25”)  and another for the interior of the frame behind the focal image.

On the card front piece, stamp the Off the Grid background using Pink Pirouette Classic Ink and Gorgeous Grunge using Basic Gray Classic Ink.   Lightly sponge Basic Gray around the edges of both of the Very Vanilla pieces using a Sponge Dauber.

Add the horizontal strip of retired Ho
Close-up of the Dogwood image
wlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the strips of Basic Black cardstock.  Adhere to the Very Vanilla stamped background and add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon strip.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Designer Frames Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (rectangle) to emboss a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Cut out the frame by hand and add the small background created above to the center.  Mount the trimmed focal image along with the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes using Basic Black Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and punch out using the Word Window Punch.  Add to the bottom of the frame using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow at the top of the frame.

Add a horizontal strip of the polka dot Designer Series Paper (I used a piece of the retired Howlstooth and Scaringbone) with Basic Black strips added at the top and bottom to the stamped Very Vanilla background and mount the panel onto the Basic Black card front.
Adhere a piece of 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon across the center of the DSP layer and mount the entire panel onto a Very Vanilla card base.

Add the focal image frame panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals® along with the Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Best of Sale-A-Bration, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Notable Notions, Gorgeous Grunge, Off The Grid

Ink: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Pink Pirouette; Stampin’ Write Markers- Pink Pirouette, Pistachio Pudding, So Saffron, Coastal Cabana

Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, retired Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Designer Frames Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder,  Sponge Dauber, Pearls, retired 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon

Thanks again for stopping by- if you have the opportunity to visit again tomorrow,  I will be posting my design for the new SU-Only Challenge!!   Hope you have a safe and wonderful New Year!!

CQC221 Winter Wilma Fun

Hi Stampers!

I hope all of you are having a great Christmas week!  I wanted to create a card using the CQC221ColourQ Challenge and pulled out one of my retired sets, Winter Wilma.  I just love this image along with the sentiments- perfect for a winter day!

I hope you have had a chance to stop by the ColourQ- great inspiration from the Design Team as well as the other entries :-)

To create this card:

Using Basic Black Classic Ink, stamp the image onto Whisper White cardstock.  Color the image using Stampin’ Write markers- Baja Breeze, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana and Midnight Muse.  Use the AquaPainter™ with ink from the Brown Sugar Classic Ink pad to color the cat, dog and skate images and create a few shadows with the Sahara Sand Stampin; Write marker.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Oval Collections Framelits™ to cut out the image.  Cut another oval from Midnight Muse cardstock- hand cut in half vertically and adhere behind the main image.

Using the Big Shot™ emboss a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock with the Argyle Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder- trim and adhere to a piece of Whisper White cardstock and mount onto the Midnight Muse card base.

Cut a few snowflakes from Vellum Paper using the Big Shot™ along with the retired Northern Frost Decorative Strip.

Mount the main image onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the Vellum Snowflakes.

Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black Classic Ink and cut the banner points using the Hexagon Punch.  Mount onto a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock and cut the banners with the Hexagon Punch as well.

Add the Rhinestones  to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Winter Wilma

Ink: Basic Black, Baked Brown Sugar, Stampin’ Write Markers- Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Midnight Muse, retired Baja Breeze

Paper:  Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Midnight Muse

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Argyle Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Oval Collections Framelits™, retired Northern Frost Decorative Strip, AquaPainter™, Large Rhinestones Basic Jewels

We have had such a blessed year and look forward to 2014!

DD84 A Sparkling Merry Christmas

Hi Stampers!

This week’s DD84 “Black Tie” Dynamic Duo Challenge combines Basic Black with Cherry Cobbler and the dessert option is “Sparkle”.    Of course, this time of year, who can resist dessert :-)

I hope that you will stop by and check out the rest of the Design Team projects and create a project of your own using the two colors - we would love to have you join us!!

I decided to try the Chalkboard Technique and the photo was difficult to take since this card is quite "Sparkly" IRL - Trust me, I did use Cherry Cobbler but the photo looks like Real Red- I always have trouble with reds in my photos :-)

To create this card:

De-static a piece of Basic Black cardstock with the Embossing Buddy™ and stamp the retired background stamp, Christmas Collage using Versamark™ ink.   Apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Mount this panel onto a piece of Silver Foil paper- first use the non-SU! Branch Punch to cut out the branches from the Silver Foil paper (being careful to not punch too close to the edges), then mount onto a piece of Basic Black Cardstock and finally onto the Cherry Cobbler card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired, Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Silver Foil paper and add this to the top of the background.

Add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow and sentiment (stamped from the retired Bells & Boughs set using Basic Black Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock).

Using Basic Black Classic Ink, stamp three images of the outline poinsettias from the retired set, Watercolor Winter, onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  Carefully cut out by hand.

Adhere the silver foil branches and stamped poinsettias over the circle area to hide the large '25' on the background stamped image.

Add Pearls to the center of the poinsettias and the Frosted Finish Embellishment to the center of the bow to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Collage, Watercolor Winter, Bells & Boughs

Ink: Basic Black Classic Ink, Versamark™

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Silver Foil

Accessories:  Big Shot™, retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, Frosted Finishes Embellishment, Pearls, non SU! Branch Punch

Thanks again for stopping by- hope all of you have a wonderful week and Merry Christmas!!

SUO86 Last Minute Gold Snowflake Card with Gift Tag :-)

Hi Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO86 SU-Only Challenge and the theme for this challenge is “Last Minute Cards and Gifts”.

I decided to create a quick, clean and simple (CAS) card along with a matching tag using some of the new Gold Foil Paper and Heat Embossing.

Again, I hope you will find some time during this busy holiday season to check out the SU-Only Challenge site and the rest of the Design Team’s creations- they have great ideas for the last minute card or gift!

To create this card and matching gift tag:
De-static three pieces of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy® and using Versamark™ ink.  Stamp the snowflake image from Best of Snow twice (leaving room for the die cut) onto one of the pieces, the sentiment from Greetings of the Season  onto the other near the bottom right and the sentiment from More Merry Messages onto the third piece. .
Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder to all of the images and heat set with the Heat Tool.
Once cooled, use the Big Shot™ with the Festive Flurry Framelits™ to cut out the snowflake images (I was thrilled to see that second to the smallest die would fit this snowflake) and use the second to the largest die to cut two additional snowflakes out of Gold Foil paper.
Use the Simply Scored™ Scoring Tool to score the Gold Foil snowflakes and fold at the scores to create dimension.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Chalk Tag Framelit™ to cut a tag out of Whisper White cardstock.  Mount the tag onto a piece of Gold Foil Paper and trim the paper by hand to match the tag corners.
Adhere the embossed snowflake to the scored Gold Foil snowflake.  Mount the snowflake onto the tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals®  as well as the sentiment.  Add a Pearl to the snowflake and the retired Gold Cord to finish off the tag.
Trim a piece of Whisper White cardstock to frame the snowflake for the card, mount this onto a piece of Gold Foil Paper and add to the layer with the Peace on Earth embossed sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Mount this to another layer of Gold Foil paper and onto the Whisper White card base.
Add the snowflake to the center using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the Pearl to the center to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets: Best of Snow, Greetings of the Season, More Merry Messages
Ink: Versamark™
Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Gold Foil
Accessories: Big Shot™, Chalk Talk and Festive Flurry Framelits™, Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder, Simply Scored™ Scoring Tool, Pearls, retired Gold Cord

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope you will find the time to visit us and enter your project into the SU-Only SUO86 “Last Minute Card and Gift” Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!!

One more post for the weekend- this card was created using the CCMC281 Create with Connie and Mary Sketch along with the DD83 Dynamic Duos Colors and the FM139 FridayMashup! Theme Challenge- this card uses Heat Embossing as well as a Winter Theme (non-Christmas) so I "Mashed It Up!" :-)

De-static a piece of Marina Mist cardstock with the Embossing Buddy® and stamp the snowflake from Best of Snow using
Versamark™ ink, apply the Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Once cooled,  cut the snowflake out using the 2 ½” Circle Punch and also punch out a circle the same size from Crumb Cake cardstock.
Hand cut the Crumb Cake 2 ½” Circle in half and adhere behind the snowflake image allowing a bit of the Crumb Cake to show on each of the sides.

Mount the snowflake image onto a White Tea Lace Paper Doily and add the Festive Flourishes Embellishment to the center.

Adhere a piece of Marina Mist Designer Series Paper (DSP) to a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock,   Add the 1 ¼” Burlap Ribbon banner and add sthe 5/8” Whisper White Organza Ribbon over the burlap per the sketch.

Mount this panel onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, then again onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and finally onto the Marina Mist card base.

Add the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes (stamped using Marina Mist Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock) and create the banner points with the Hexagon Punch.  Layer the sentiment onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock (also punched with the Hexagon Punch).

Add the sentiment and snowflake panel to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® , finish off the card with Rhinestones on the corner, on the ribbon band and sentiment :-)

CAS Christmas Ornaments- A Bit of Gold for Christmas

Hi Again Stampers!!

I had so much fun in my craft room and created several cards- this one uses another new product that will be in the upcoming mini catalog and I also decided to create one more Christmas card.

Since I used heat embossing, this one is the first of two that I created with The Friday Mashup! FM139 Challenge in mind- I will post the second card later tomorrow :-)

I hope you find the time to check out the Design Team cards and other entries- again, I love challenges since you can see all of the different interpretations of an inspiration, color or sketch!
To create this card:

Apply the new Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape (will be available in the new Occasions Mini catalog) to a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy® and stamp the sentiment from More Merry Messages using Versamark™ ink, apply the Stampin’ Emboss Gold Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

De-static a piece of Vellum with the Embossing Buddy® and stamp the ornaments from Christmas Collectibles set using Versamark™ ink, apply the Stampin’ Emboss Gold Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.    Once cooled, punch out using the Christmas Ornament Punch and add the Gold Cord (retired) to the tops creating a loop for hanging.

Punch the leaves out from Gold Foil Paper (I used scraps) and adhere to the panel for “branches”.  Add the ornaments using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and loop the cords around the branches.

Add the entire panel to the Whisper White card base using Stampin’  Dimensionals® and add a Pearl to the center of the lower ornament to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Christmas Collectibles, More Merry Messages

Ink: Versamark™

PPA183 Rose Red Roses- Thinking of You

Hi Stampers!!

It was a snowy, wintry day so I had a chance to play in my craft room and decided to create a card using the Pals Paper Arts PPA183 Color Challenge (again, the Design Team has created a variety of fantastic projects as well as the other entries- wonderful inspiration)!

I wanted to create a basic “Thinking of You” card and incorporated a sneak peek of a new items from the upcoming All Occasions Mini:-)

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Modern Mosiac Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Mount this layer onto a piece of Rose Red cardstock and again onto the Whisper White card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the new Spiral Floral Die to cut two of the large roses and the 2 /12” Circle Punch for the smaller rose (hand cut a spiral towards the center of the 2 ½” Circle).

Using the retired Crimper Tool, crimp all three roses and crumple the paper a bit by hand.  Roll starting with the outside edge toward the center and adhere in the middle with adhesive- for this card, I chose to use a hot glue gun for the centers :-).

Cut two Chalk Talk tags using the Big Shot™ with the Chalk Talk Framelits™- one from Whisper White and the other from Rose Red cardstock.  Cut the Rose Red tag into four sections and adhere behind the Whisper White tag to allow the edges to show (there will be a few gaps that the roses and leaves will cover).

Ink the script stamp from Notable Notions using Rose Red Classic Ink and repeatedly stamp over the Whisper White tag.

Add the leaves (cut with the Bird Builder Punch from Wild Wasabi cardstock) and roses to the tag.  Adhere the tag to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes using Rose Red Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out using the Word Window punch.  Add to a layer of Rose Red cardstock punched with the Modern Label Punch and add to the tag/card front.

Adhere the triple bow created from retired ½” Striped Wild Wasabi Grosgrain Ribbon and Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Notable Notions, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Rose Red

Paper: Whisper White, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi

Accessories: Big Shot™,  Spiral Floral Originals™ Die, Chalk Talk Framelits™, Modern Mosiac Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Punches- 2 ½” Circle, Word Window, Modern Label, Bird Builder, Pearls, retired ½” Wild Wasabi Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

Thanks again for visiting- have a wonderful Sunday!!
