Music is in their Soul- Tic-Tac-Toe for Two Lovely Nieces :-)

Hi Again Stampers!!

Today we celebrated my stepmother’s belated birthday and the birthday of my twin nieces who are now eighteen years old!!  Time surely flies by and they have grown into two lovely young ladies who love the Lord and have been blessed with so much talent in music and art!

Their mother is an accomplished pianist and they have had piano lessons since they were very young and both of them are extremely gifted in music- they have just started playing the violin and cello and these two instruments have been extremely easy so far for them since they have such an extensive background in music.

I have seen many cards in the galleries that were punch art of a piano and thought I would use that idea for one of the cards and a violin from an old retired set, Musical Medley  for the other…..

I checked out this week's The Paper Players PP165 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge from Ann and both cards qualify... in fact, combined, they are a "three way" Tic-Tac-Toe- Ribbon, Designer Paper and  Birthday; Ribbon, Embossing and Banners and Birthday, Pearls and Banners...love the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenges!!   I hope you can take the time to check out their site- so much inspiration!!

To create the first card:

Layer the Modern Medley cardstock onto the Basic Black card base and distress a bit by hand and using a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

Create the angle of the “piano” by drawing it by freehand onto Basic Black cardstock and cut out with Paper Snips.

De-static this angled piece using the Embossing Buddy® and ink the retired Musical Score background stamp using Versamark™ ink (could not located my current Music wheel- where did that go??).  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool to melt the powder.

Create the piano keys using the Word Window punch and punching out pieces of Very Vanilla and Basic Black cardstock- adhere to the bottom of the card in a keyboard layout with Two-Way Glue.

Add the sentiment banner created from My Digital Studio(MDS) using the retired stamp set, Feeling Sentimental from the 2013-2014 Sale-A-Bration (printed onto Very Vanilla cardstock and distressed with the Distressing Tool) and the banner points are created by hand or you can use the 1" Square Punch.

Add the triple 5/8” Basic BlackSatin Ribbon bow and adhere the "piano top" to the card, adding the Pearls to finish off the card.

To create the second card:

De-static a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using the Embossing Buddy® and ink the retired Musical Medley violin stamp using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool to melt the powder.

Color the image using Stampin’ Write Markers in Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake.  Create a shadow and hand draw the “table” or “floor” area with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker (mask the rest of the image and add a bit of distressing with the Color Spritzer Tool and the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker on the shadowed area).   Ink the background stamp, En Francais with Crumb Cake Classic Ink and stamp over the image.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Ovals Collection Framelits™ to cut out the oval shape and mount onto the Basic Black frame (created with the Big Shot™ and the Window Frame Collection Framelits™).

Distress the edges of a piece of Modern
Medley Designer Series Paper and adhere to the Basic Black Card Base.   Add the focal image along with the banner sentiment (same one as in the first card above) and the triple 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow with a few Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Feeling Sentimental (MDS, retired SAB), Musical Score, Musical Medley (both retired), En Francais

Paper:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP

Ink: Versamark™, Crumb Cake, Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Basic Black

AccessoriesEmbossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Big Shot™, Ovals and Window Frame Collections Framelits™, Sponge Daubers, Punches- Word Window, 1” Square (for banner points), 5/8” Black Satin Ribbon (retired). Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by- both of my nieces seemed to be thrilled with the cards and of course, the gift cards inside helped as well!

Have a great Monday and have fun stamping!

SUO80 Welcome Little One!!

Hi Stampers!

The SUO80 Stampin’ Up! Only Challenge is “Welcome Baby”- to create a baby card or project using Stampin’ Up! Only products- hope you can join us and drop by to visit to see the rest of the Design Team projects.

As I reviewed my current SU! stamps, I realized that I do not own any baby type stamps (will need to rectify that :-) so I decided to turn to My Digital Studio (MDS).  The retired rubber stamp set, Two by Two is still available as a digital download and I also had the Nursery Necessities on MDS  :-)

To create this card:

In My Digital Studio (MDS), open a blank 8.5 x 11 custom page and insert the stamp image from Two by Two  and the sentiment from Nursery Necessities- resize the image and print the image using your computer printer.

Using Stampin’ Write markers in So Saffron, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand and Pool Party to color the image.   Use the Chalk Marker to create a few highlights in the water and on the elephant ears/head :-)

Use the Big Shot™ with the Deco Labels Framelits™ to cut out the label behind the focal image from Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (DSP) and another one from Pool Party cardstock.  Cut the Pool Party label in half vertically and adhere behind the Sweater Weather DSP layer.

Cut the Two by Two image out with the Big Shot™ and the Circle Collection Framelits™.  Add the “Welcome Little One” sentiment over the Congratulations on the stamped image, along with the Pool Party Candy Dot.

Layer the Gumball Green Polka Dot DSP from Epic Day This and That onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock, add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Adhere the ½” Pool Party Seam Binding Triple Ribbon Bow along with the Naturals button (use a very small strip of Pool Party cardstock to mimic thread in the button).

Stamp Sets:  Two by Two, Nursery Necessities  (both MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- So Saffron, Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip

Cardstock: Whisper White, Pool Party, Sweater Weather DSP, Epic Day This and That DSP

Birthday Hugs & Wishes- A Color and A Sketch :-)

Hi Stampers!

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend!!  Before my extremely busy week begins, I wanted to take a moment to relax in my craft room and create a card using the Dynamic Duos DD71 Color Challenge along with The Paper Players PP164 SketchChallenge (again, if you have not visited these sites yet, I hope you will have a chance to do so- love their weekly inspiration!)...

I was playing around with My Digital Studio (MDS) again and decided that the black solid images printed onto Whisper White cardstock would be crisp and perfect for this challenge…I chose a set called Chateau Bella and I believe it may be exclusive to MDS since I do not recall this as a stamp set in the catalogs since 1999 (I do recall the Designer Series Paper and Albums- beautiful images and the digital set is no exception).

To create this card:

In My Digital Studio (MDS), open a blank 8.5 x 11 custom page and insert the circle image from Chateau Bella - resize the image, insert the sentiment (I used the birthday sentiment from Hugs & Wishes) and print the images on your printer.

Without Pearl Accents
Use the Big Shot™ with the Circles Collection Framelits™ to cut out the circle and you can but the banner sentiment by hand or use a 1” Square Punch for the banner points.

Layer both images onto Basic Black cardstock – for my circle focal image, the 2 ½” XL Circle Punch was the perfect size and for the banner sentiment, layer onto Basic Black cardstock and trim to size with the trimmer and by hand (or with the 1” Square Punch).

Emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Big Shot™ and the Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Trim and add the Crumb Cake Designer Series Paper panel layered onto Basic Black cardstock.

With the Big Shot™ and the Finishing Touches Edgelit™, cut a piece of Basic Black and adhere to the bottom of the central panel.  Add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon and the additional Crumb Cake layer on the lower part of the card.

Mount the entire card onto Basic Black cardstock, add the central circle image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® along with the sentiment.  Add the 5/8” Basic Black Triple Satin Ribbon bow- this completed the card for the first version :-)

Second version with Pearls :-)
For the second version, follow the same steps as above and then add a few Pearls in the corner, on the focal image (I used the small seed pearls and they are a bit difficult to see) and on the edges of the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Hugs & Wishes, Chateau Bella  (all MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black

Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Crumb Cake DSP (retired Level I Hostess Pack)

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Circle Collection Framelits™, Finishing Touches Edgelits™, Pearls, 2 ½” XL Circle Punch,  5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon (retired)

Thanks again for stopping by- since I seem to love adding Pearls to almost every card, I prefer the second version- what about you?  Have a fabulous week and have fun stamping- God Bless!

Festive Flurry- CAS Christmas

Hi Stampers!!

I am still working on my September CCC13 Christmas card designs and wanted to create another quick, easy Clean and Simple (CAS) card and the sketch at CAS(E)This Sketch Challenge #45 looked like it would be perfect :-)

There are so many talent artists on the CAS(E) This Sketch Design Team(not to mention the numerous entries and the inspiration)- hope you have a chance to stop by to visit their site!

To create this card:

Using the snowflake images from Festive Flurry, create a mask from a stick note for each image.

On Whisper White, stamp the main stamp image with Night of Navy Classic Ink, use the mask to cover the stamped image and stamp the smaller image (once you stamp off once prior to stamping onto the card front).

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock.

Add the stamped vellum sentiment and Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Festive Flurry, More Merry Messages

Ink: Night of Navy

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Vellum

Accessories: Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you have a great week!!

Beary Best Wishes- A CAS Card for the Paper Players

Hi Stampers!

One thing I love about weekly challenges is that sometimes you have to “go outside of your comfort zone” and the Clean and Simple (CAS) Paper Players PP163 Kid’s Card Challenge did just that for me  (if you have the time, check out all of the great ideas the Design Team created along with the other entrants- another reason to love weekly challenges :-))

My husband and I work with over sixty kids during the school year in our Awana ministry program at church (grades 3-6) but it seems as though I do not own many stamps specifically geared towards “kids” cards.

In reviewing my stash, I decided to pull out a few favorite retired sets, Beary Merry Christmas and the sentiment from Beary Best.    I love the colors from our Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper and Splitcoaststampers CC444  Color Challenge  was the perfect match for the fall/neutral color combo (Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango).

To create this card:

Stamp the bear image using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and carefully watercolor using the AquaPainter™ (this will give the image an “antiqued” appearance and I find that Early Espresso works better for watercolor than Chocolate Chip) :-)

Using Stampin’ Write markers add a bit of color to the horn (Crushed Curry), mane and Tail (first with Tangerine Tango and shadows of Cajun Craze), saddle and harness (Tangerine Tango).

Use the Big Shot™ with the Circles Collection Framelits™ to cut out the image and cut another frame from Cajun Craze cardstock (cutting the Cajun Craze layer in half vertically to adhere behind the focal image).

Stamp the sentiment using Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp a few stars from Simply Stars using Crushed Curry Classic Ink- again, cut out the sentiment using the Big Shot™ with the Circles Collection Framelits™ cutting a second frame from Cajun Craze as in the above step.

Layer both the focal image and sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals®  to a piece of Sweater Weather DSP (mounted onto Very Vanilla and a Cajun Craze card base).

Add the 5/8” Satin Ribbon Triple Bow to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Beary Merry Christmas and Beary Best (retired), Simply Stars

Ink: Early Espresso, Stampin’ Write Markers- Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze, Sweater Weather DSP

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Circle Collection Framelits™, AquaPainter™, 5/8” Satin Ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope all of you have a wonderful Wednesday ("Hump Day" it is- that one was for you Debi- lol!! )

Gratitude- Framing My Thanks :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to create another card before this relaxing Sunday ends and decided to use the Naccho AverageChallenges #54 Colors along with the Just Add Ink JAI182 Just Add FramesChallenge (again, if you have not visited either site yet, please stop by and check them out!)

The colors on the Naccho Average Challenge seemed to be a bit masculine so I decided to create a fall themed card using a watercolor and masking technique…

To create this card:
Stamp the acorn using Soft Suede Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and stamp another one onto a piece of sticky note to use as a mask.  Carefully cut out the image on the sticky note (leaving some of the sticky portion under the image) and cover the initial stamped acorn with the stick note.  Stamp another acorn at an angle and remove the sticky note.
Use the AquaPainter™ with a bit of Island Indigo Classic Ink from the inkpad to watercolor a bit around the acorns- once finished the “sky”, use Soft Suede to watercolor the acorns.  Punch out the entire image using the XL Oval Punch.
Apply the same technique as above for stamping and masking the leaves.  Use the AquaPainter™ with Pear Pizzazz to color the leaves and the Island Indigo for around the leaves.  Ink the Gorgeous Grunge splatter stamp with Soft Suede and randomly stamp over the image.
Use the Color Spritzer Tool with the Island Indigo Stampin’ Write marker to spritz over both images and cut the leaves out using the Big Shot™ along with the Deco Labels Framelits™ (remember to cut another frame the same size out of Soft Suede).  Adhere the Soft Suede layer behind the leaf image (I cut the bottom off to layer and the center down the middle vertically so a bit of the cardstock would show on the sides as well).
With the Big Shot™, cut a larger oval using the Oval Collections Framelits™ and emboss with the Oval Designer Frames Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Adhere the acorn image in the center of the frame.
Emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (rough up the edges a bit) and mount onto a piece of Soft Suede cardstock and adhere to the Whisper White card base.
Add the leaf focal image and oval acorn frame using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Attach the Hemp Twine bow with the Antique Brad with a Mini Glue Dot.  Stamp the sentiment using Island Indigo Classic Ink and cut out using the Big Shot™ with the Bitty Banners Framelits™ (sponge a bit of Island Indigo over the Whisper White to tone down the white edge a bit) and add to the frame to finish off the card.
It is hard to see in the photo but I did add a bit of highlights with the retired SU! Metallic Pencils (but it was not necessary, just had them near by)…

Stamp Sets: Truly Grateful, Harvest of Thanks, Gently Falling, Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Soft Suede, Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz, Stampin' Write Marker- Island Indigo

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Soft Suede

Accessories: Big Shot™, Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders- Woodgrain, Designer Frames (Oval), Framelits™- Deco Label Collection, Bitty Banners, Ovals Collection, Sponge Dauber, XL Oval Punch, Color Spritzer Tool (retired), Metallic Pencils (retired- optional) , Hemp Twine (retired), Antique Brad

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope all of you have a fabulous week!!

Kitty Dreams- A Quilt for a Color and a Sketch Challenge

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to create a card using the FabFri26 Colors along with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #20 (again, if you have not visited these sites yet, I encourage you to do so and check out the Design Team samples as well as the other entrants!)

I love cats and decided to use My Digital Studio (MDS) to create another "hybrid" card :-)

The original version of MDS had a few sets that I had not purchased in the actual rubber sets (actually, they may have been exclusive to MDS) and two of them had cats, so of course, I had to use them :-)

I had originally printed these images out a few months ago and when I saw the “quilt” sketch pattern for this week's AHSC Sketch, I knew that they would be “purr-fect” for my kitty quilt card…lol!!

To create this card:

In My Digital Studio (MDS), open a blank 8.5 x 11 custom page and insert the cat from Pattern Pets – resize and copy the image, mirror the copied image (so one cat is facing the opposite way) and remember to leave enough room between images to use the punch to cut them out.

Insert the sentiment from Loving Thoughts (re-size as well) and add the mouse from Cute Cats (again, re-sized).

Print out the images on Whisper White cardstock and use the 1 ¼” Square Punch (or the new Square Framelits™ to cut out the cats) and cut the banner using the trimmer and the square punch for the banner points.  I had mounted the cat images originally onto Basic Black cardstock (using the 1 3/8” Square Punch) but that step could be avoided.

Use the 1 ¼” Square Punch to punch out the “quilt” squares from the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Arrange onto a piece of scrap paper alternating the squares and adding the cats in the diagonal corners.

Use the Trio of Hearts Punch (retired) to punch out the hearts from a piece of the Chocolate Chip Sweater Weather DSP and adhere to the center of the squares.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the entire panel and add the Metallic Brads to the corners of the center square.

Mount the entire panel onto Basic Black cardstock and then again onto Sahara Sand cardstock.

Add the Pool Party ½” Seam Binding Triple Ribbon bow on the diagonal (I have not received my Soft Sky yet and the Pool Party is close enough)  and the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Mount the entire quilt onto another piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhere to the Whisper White card base.

Stamp Sets:  Loving Thoughts, Patterned Pets, Cute Cats (all MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black

Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Sweater Weather DSP

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Metallic Brads, ½” Pool Party or Soft Sky Seam Binding Ribbon

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you enjoyed this fanciful quilt card and may all of us “Dare to Dream” !!

"Oh, What Fun!"- CAS Dancing Gingerbead Men

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create another quick, easy Christmas card to start off the weekend and decided to use the Freshly Made Sketches #FMS103 Challenge along with the Pals Paper Arts PPA171 Colors

If you have not already visited their sites, I hope you will take the time to stop by- so many examples of projects and so much inspiration!

This card is quick and easy since it has simple stamping and the die cuts do all the work- I did decided to use a retired stamp set that I have not inked up yet-  so many stamps, so little time!- lol!

To create this card:

Ink the Background Builders stamp using Calypso Coral Classic Ink and stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  Trim and adhere to a piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and add a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock (embossed using the Big Shot™ along with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder).  Round the corners using the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and adhere to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Stamp the gingerbread men from the retired Scentsational Season stamp set and use the Holiday Collections Framelits™ along with the Big Shot™ to cut out the shapes.
Stamp the sentiments from Christmas Messages using Calypso Coral Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and punch out using the XL Oval Punch.  Layer the “Oh, What Fun” onto two other layers of cardstock (two XL Ovals from the same punch from Calypso Coral and Baked Brown Sugar- layer to expand the oval and peek out from the sentiment layer).   Layer the “Wishing you” sentiment onto Baked Brown Sugar cardstock- add both to the main focal panel.

Emboss a piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock using the Big Shot™ along with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder- round the corners. Adhere to a Very Vanilla card base and add the focal image panel.

Add the gingerbread men using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and attach the ½” Very Vanilla Seam Binding ribbon bow along with the pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Scentsational Season, Christmas Messages, Background Builders

Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Calypso Coral

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar, Calypso Coral

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Holiday Collection Framelits™ (retired), XL Oval Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Chalk Marker, ½” Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- have a great Sunday!!
