DD99 Black Tie Swallowtail :-)

Hi Stampers!

It’s that time again, a new Dynamic Duos Challenge!!   The DD99 “Black Tie” Challenge mixes Basic Black with Rich Razzleberry with Gold for optional dessert.

Again, I decided to turn to My Digital Studio (MDS) along with traditional card making techniques to create my card for this project and of course, I opted for dessert :-)

I hope you will have the time to visit and check out the rest of the fantastic Design Team projects as well as create your own and share with us!

To create this project:
Using MDS, open a blank 8.5x11 document and insert the Swallowtail image- reduce and print out onto Whisper White cardstock.
Color using the Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Write Marker and use the Gold Marker to add the gold accents to the butterfly (stipple dots along the outside edges of the wings and strokes for the inside areas), carefully cut out the butterfly.
Use the Big Shot™ along with the Window Frames Collection Framelits™ to cut out the window from Basic Black cardstock and emboss with retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Add the retired Antique Brass brads to the corners.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock, layer onto a piece of Brushed Gold cardstock and add the retired Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper (DSP) onto the lower part of the card front, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Add a piece of 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon to cover the seam.
Adhere the window frame to the card front and add the butterfly using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon to the bottom of the panel.  Stamp the sentiment from Express Yourself using Basic Black Classic Ink onto Rich Razzleberry cardstock and create the banner using the Hexagon Punch, add the gold dots using the Gold Marker and adhere to the ribbon strip.
Add the decorative metal piece from the retired Artisan Embellishment Kit and mount the entire panel onto the Rich Razzleberry card base to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets: Swallowtail (MDS version), Express Yourself
Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Rich Razzleberry, Gold
Paper/Cardstock:  Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, Brushed Gold, retired Mocha Morning DSP
Accessories: Big Shot™, Pretty Print and retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Window Frames Collection Framelits™, Hexagon Punch, retired Artisans Embellishment kit
Thanks again for stopping by - I hope all of you have a wonderful Easter Weekend and a chance to join in on our “DD99 Black Tie” Challenge!

Holy gold embossed butterflies, Batman! This is fantastic. The gold really makes the black and razzleberry stand out so wonderfully, Julie!

Stun. Ning. I can't believe the painstaking gold dots on the butterfly. You are immensely talented!
