One Layer Under Ten Minute Card

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a great week so far! Last night, I had a chance to create a One Layer Clean and Simple card for the As You See It #160 “Speed Stamping Shades of Orange” Challenge and decided to use my neglected Sunflower Barn stamp from Impression Obsession, Inc.

This card took me a full 8 minutes 53 seconds to complete! The sentiment is a rub-on from a retired Stampin’ Up! set of Autumn Harvest rub-ons (I still have plenty of these on hand to use and it worked great for this 10 minute card).

If you have not had a chance to check out the challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Fold a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of heavy duty white cardstock in half, score along the fold line.  **FYI*** my last accounting job was with a printing company and they had quite a bit of coated white cardstock as a leftover from a print job and I was fortunate to obtain the overstock- woohoo!  It works great for card bases and is heavy enough for some mixed media applications as well)...this is what I used for the card base on this card.

2). Use an embossing powder tool to de-static the surface, ink the Sunflower Barn image with Versafine® Onyx Black Ink, stamp onto the front of the card (leaving room for the sentiment at the bottom), apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.

3). Using Tim Holtz® Distress Inks along with an AquaPainter™, watercolor the image quickly- I used Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin and Ripe Persimmon. Use a heat tool to dry the watercolor (carefully) and add a few shadows with a water-based marker.

4). Add the rub-on sentiment at the bottom and add a bit of shimmer to the petals with a clear glitter pen to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets: Sunflower Barn (Impression Obsession)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black; Tim Holtz® Distress Ink- Carved Pumpkin, Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade; Stampin' Write Tip Top Taupe Marker, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Paper: Coated White Paper (from my stash)

Accessories/Tools: Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, AquaPainter™

Wow, this card was so easy to create and there is something about the freedom of a time limit...yes, a bit stressful but also back to basics for sure!  I may have to start timing myself more often- lol!!

Thanks again for stopping by to visit- hugs and I hope all of you have a blessed week!

That's a great image and the colouring enhances it. Love the sentiment at the bottom - I didn't know that SU had done rub-ons. It's amazing what you can do in under ten minutes! Thanks so much for joining us again at As You See It, Julie.

This is beautiful, Julie! I swear, it looks like some of the sunflower petals and leaves are layered on rather than just watercoloured. You've done an amazing job in under 10 min.! Thanks for playing along and sharing your talents with us at As You See It Challenge!
