Star of Wonder

Hi Friends!

Happy New Year’s Eve!  I hope all of you are having a safe and fun New Year’s Eve!

Tonight I am sharing another Christmas card designed with We Three Kings from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

I love the We Three Kings stamp set with the silhouette images and all the different sentiments- perfect for so many styles of cards.  I needed a few additional Christmas cards and decided to pull out my Distress Oxide inks to create a fairly quick and easy card.

I enjoy participating with online challenges and am linking this card to the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the Simon Says Wednesday site or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide Inks, apply Tumbled Glass with a sponge dauber onto a piece of white cardstock.  Add a bit of Faded Denim and Picked Raspberry until you are satisfied with the color.  Lightly spritz with water and dry with a heat tool.

2). On another piece of white cardstock, de-static with an embossing powder tool, ink the wiseman image from We Three Kings with archival black ink, stamp onto the prepared cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, die cut the image with a domed stitched die.

3).  Using the same distress oxide inks as in step 1, apply ink to the sky area to mimic part of the background on the main panel.

4).  De-static the left hand side of the panel with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment and star image from We Three Kings with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

5). Mount the die cut domed image with dimensional foam and add a rhinestone to the center of the star.

6).  Add a few stars with a Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen to finish off the card.

The Card Concept #105- Favorite Card from 2018

Hi Friends!

We know that most of you are very busy during the Christmas season and New Year but wanted to have a challenge that you could participate with us that would be easy.

To play along, just share with us either your favorite card that you designed in 2018 or a photo of your Christmas tree this year.

Since our Christmas tree is very small and it is hard to get a great photo, I am sharing one of my favorite cards from 2018.

This card was created for The Card Concept #91 Challenge and all of the free step by step instructions can be found in this blog post.

Thanks again for your faithful participation with The Card Concept in 2018 and we are looking forward to another great year in 2019!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

A Friend Loveth At All Times

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing another card designed with Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps-  Snowy Hello , Texture Tiles 4 and Peaceful Peonies.

I incorporated the Hand Stamped Sentiments #304 Sketch Challenge into the design and am also participating with the Simon Says Monday “Warm Winter Wishes”Challenge and the CAS-ual Fridays #214 Inspiration Challenge (I was inspired by the snow, greens and reds).

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the snowman/bunny image from Snowy Hello with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, color the images with water-based markers and die cut with a stitched circle die.  Mount onto a circle die cut from black cardstock.  Use a permanent marker to create the snow line and stamp a few snowflakes from Snowy Hello with ink from a marker (see all colors used listed below).

2).  Stamp the sentiment from  Peaceful Peonies with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink onto a piece of white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, die cut with a ticket die and mount onto the larger layering die cut from dark green cardstock.

3). Stamp the buffalo plaid image from Texture Tiles 4 with black soot distress ink onto a piece of cherry cardstock.  Repeat stamping to create a large panel, cut a strip of the side layer on the left of the card and another strip for under the sentiment (per the sketch). Mount both onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

4). Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4” x 5 ¼”  and mount onto a piece of black cardstock 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.  Adhere the panel to a white card base and add the vertical panel of plaid on the right and the strip onto the card front (for under the sentiment).  Add the layered sentiment directly to the card front and mount the die cut focal image circle with dimensional foam.

5). Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the snow and snowman.  Add a few silver sequins to finish off the card.

TCC104 Peace on Earth

Hi Friends!

Wow, what a gorgeous inspiration photo Lesley found for us!  The various shades of metallic silvers along with the green and pinecones inspired me to create a Classy and Elegant/Mixed Media Christmas card!

I love participating in online challenges and incorporated the Mojo Monday #504 Sketch Challenge along with The Flower Challenge #27 “Use an Older Stamp or Die” Challenge (I used a flower image I have owned for several years as well as a retired stamp for the sentiment and background), the International Art & Soul Challenge #48 “Add Some Sparkle” Challenge and the Dragonfly Journeys #130 “Handmade Holiday Magic”Challenge into the design.

Just a reminder that the Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a suggestion of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media (or you can combine several styles for your own style).

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static two pieces of white cardstock (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) with an embossing powder tool.   On one panel stamp the poinsettia image from Poinsettia (Power Poppy by Marcella) with Versamark™ ink, apply pewter embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, fussy-cut the poinsettia image and set aside.

2). On the other prepared panel of white cardstock, stamp the sentiment from the retired Beyond Measure (Verve Stamps) with Versamark™ ink, apply pewter embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool. Die cut the panel using a stitched rectangle die, mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, trim close to the edge.

3). Stamp the retired En Francais (Stampin’ Up!) background stamp onto a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using Early Espresso Classic Ink.  Trim the panel, mount onto Early Espresso cardstock and adhere the strip to the card front.  Add the silver metallic ribbon and mount onto the white card base.

4). Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched circle die, mount onto another circle die cut from Early Espresso cardstock and mount to the card front with dimensional foam.  Adhere the fussy-cut poinsettia image directly to the circle and add a bit of shimmer to the petals using a clear glitter pen.

5). Use a branch punch to cut out several branches from silver metallic paper and add to the card front behind the poinsettia image.

6). Finish off the card by adding the triple silver metallic bow, the string of rhinestones and pearls to the center of the poinsettia.

Stamp Sets: Poinsettia (Power Poppy by Marcella), Beyond Measure (retired Verve Stamps), En Francais (retired Stampin’ Up!) background)

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™ , Early Espresso Classic Ink (Stampin’ Up!), Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz (Stampin’ Up!)

Peace I Leave With You

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing another card designed with the new Doves of Peace (designed by Krista Hamrick), Texture Tiles 3 and the previously released stamp set, Peaceful Peonies (designed by NinaB Designs)from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

I am participating with the Paper Craft Crew Challenges #317 Sketch Challenge  (oops! just noticed the square notation but converted mine into a normal A2 size) along with the {PIN}Spirational #230 Inspiration Challenge (I was inspired by the blues, white and peaceful feeling) and the Word Art Wednesday #364-#365 “AnythingGoes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the texture image from Texture Tiles 3 with Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, use a sponge dauber to apply Tim Holtz™ Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink, use a damp paper towel to remove the excess ink and die cut with a stitched strip die.  Mount onto black cardstock, trim close to the die cut edge and adhere to a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 4” x 5 ¼”.

2).  Stamp the dove image from Doves of Peace with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink onto a piece of white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, use water-based markers to color the image and fussy-cut around the edges.  Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the globe area.

3). De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Peaceful Peonies with Verasmark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Die cut with a stitched oval die and mount onto another die cut from the same size oval (to give the sentiment additional stability).

4). Die cut a circle from white cardstock with a stitched circle die, mount onto another circle die cut from black cardstock.  Die cut the banner from black cardstock using a stitched banner die, split the banner in half, adhere to the card front and mount the entire panel onto a piece of black cardstock before mounting onto the white card base.

5). Add the die cut stitched circle with dimensional foam, adhere the looped silver cord and mount the sentiment with dimensional foam.  Add the fussy-cut dove image and finish off the card with a few rhinestones.
