Hi Stampers!

I had the opportunity to spend severalhours with a good friend on Saturday and we created eleven Clean and Simple (CAS) Valentines for the childrenin her life.

She is a beginner stamperand loves the Big Shot so I decided to focus on embossing folders, the newFramelits™ dies and punches.

We needed four different designs (so thatthere would not be a duplicate card sent to the kids in the same family) andeven though the majority of the cards were for boys, we still added pink andhearts…she said that her one eldest male grandchild has a T-shirt that states “Real Men Wear Pink” so we decided that they could handle the pink hearts :-))…

Two Challenges- One Challenging Color Combo!

Hi Stampers!!

This week’s ColourQCQC123 Challenge colors definitely remind me of the 70’s again- I do believe that retro isin and aren’t those owls cookies cute? I must admit, I did struggle a bit with this color combinationbut in the end decided to combine it with the Stampin’ Queen’s SQSC25 Sketch Challenge (again, both sites offer so much inspiration and you should see whatthe Design Teams created!)..

This card wasdefinitely quick and easy once I determined the design :-)

Ink the FrenchFiligree background stamp with Regal Rose Classic Ink and stamp onto Whisper Whitecardstock, emboss with the Big Shot™ and the Square Lattice TexturedImpressions™ Embossing Folder.

Attach the twolengths of White Satin Ribbon and mount onto the Regal Rose cardstock base.

With the Big Shot™and the Framelits™ Labels Collection, cut a frame from Regal Rose cardstock andPeach Parfait Designer Series Paper (retired Hostess pack). Emboss both with the Big Shot™ and the PefectPolka Dots Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Use the Blossom Punch (love this new punch!) and punch a flower from Poppy Parade Designer Series Paper (I used a piece from a retired HostessPack) and run through the Crimper Tool. Layer with a center created with the Boho Blossom Punch from PeachParfait cardstock and add a Pearl to the center.

Attach the flower tothe embossed label layer, add the bow and little tags to finish off the card.

Mixed Bunch- 2 Different CAS Cards- 3 Challenges

To create this card:

Emboss a piece of Crumb Cake using the BigShot™ with the Elegant Bouquet Impressions™ Embossing Folder and a piece ofReal Red Designer Series Paper with the Finial Press Impressions™ EmbossingFolder. Lightly sand the Real Red layerand stamp the background stamp fromCharming with Crumb Cake ink lightly over the Crumb Cake layer.

Use Stampin’ Write markers to color thefloral image (I used Real Red, Regal Rose and Basic Black) and stamp ontoWhisper White cardstock. Emboss with theBig Shot™ and the Designer Label (Oval) Frame Textured Impressions™ EmbossingFolder. Carefully cut around the edgeand layer onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock (cut with the Framelits™ LabelsDie.

Punch out a few flowers with the BohoBlossom Punch from Real Red and Basic Black cardstock, add the 5/8” Black Satin Ribbon, Pearls and sentiment to finishoff the card.

I wanted to createone more card this weekend and chose to use the Stampin’ Royalty SRC108 PhotoInspiration along with the FMS19 Freshly Made Sketch Challenge. I love the colors in the photo and since Iwas still thinking about warmer weather from my earlier post, decided to add afew flowers to hurry spring along. To create thiscard:

Use the Big Shot™and emboss a piece of Whisper White, Marina Mist and So Saffron with the FinialPress Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder. Use the new Adorning Accents Edgelits™ to cut the piece of Night of Navycardstock.

De-static a pieceof Whisper White with the Embossing Buddy®, stamp the frame from Notably Ornatewith Versamark® ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Navy Embossing Powder (retired), heat with the Heat Tool and oncecooled, carefully cut out the frame.

Create the rolledflowers from So Saffron cardstock with the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and the CrimperTool. Cut each crimped circle into aspiral, roll up, glue and add a Pearl for the center.

Assemble thelayers, add the Pear Pizzazz bow and Silver Brads and mount onto the WhisperWhite card base to finish off the card.

Balmy Breezes- Three In One!

When I first saw that theme at this week’s HandStamped Sentiments HSSTC102 Beach Inspiration Challenge my mind immediately thought of warmer weather and a cruise my husband and I took many years ago to the Bahamas years.

I decided tocombine this challenge with the wonderful colors from this week’s Simply Stampin’ #44Challenge and the Splitcoast Stampers SC367 Challenge. Balmy Breezes, a retired SU! set reminds me of Nassau and I thought it would be perfect :-)). Again, if you want to beinspired as well, check out the Design Team samples and other entries- they are absolutely gorgeous!

To create thiscard:

Use Versamark™ inkand stamp the tree image into Very Vanilla cardstock. Apply Dark Brown Stampin’ Emboss® Powder(retired) and heat emboss with the Heat Tool.

Stamp the otherimages in the set using River Rock and Not Quite Navy cardstock, distress theedges with the Distressing Tool, lightly sponge Early Espresso around the edgesand mount onto a distressed piece of Not Quite Navy cardstock.

Apply Not QuiteNavy ink directly to the smooth interior side of the Vintage Wallpaper TexturedImpressions™ Folder, use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of River Rockcardstock .

CAS for Simply Stampin' Sketch#43

I wanted to create another Clean and Simple(CAS) card and chose the wonderful Sketch#43 at Simply Stampin’ for myinspiration.

This is my first time participating with theirchallenge blog and I love all of the Design Team ideasas well as the individual entries- great job ladies!

This sketch has so many possibilities but Idecided to let the beautiful Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper "take the stage" on this card:-)

To create this card:

With the Big Shot™, emboss a piece of the VeryVanilla with the Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and mountonto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Use the 1 1/” Square Punch to punch outfive squares from the Mocha Morning DSP and mount onto Basic Black squarespunched with the 1 3/8” Square Punch.

Stamp the sentiment with Basic Black ClassicInk onto Very Vanilla cardstock, punch out with the Large Oval Punch and layeronto a piece of Basic Black cardstock (punched with the Decorative LabelPunch).

Add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bowand Pearls to finish off the card.

PP79 With Sympathy- Scrap Card

Hi Stampers!

I decided to create another card for thePP79 Paper Players “CAS Tag It” Challenge since (oops!) I did not notice the “CAS” partof the challenge with my first card…:-)

I pulled out my scrap bin and found a pieceof an embossed panel from Lovely As A Tree and decided to create a quick, easycard with this scrap, a few pieces of Designer Specialty papers and of course,ribbon and pearls!

To create this card:

Stamp the tree image with Versamark™ ink andheat emboss using the Heat Tool and Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder.

Trim a piece of Basic Black Cardstock tothe size of the tag, punch the upper part of the tag using the Curly LabelPunch (putting the cardstock in from the reverse) and punch the bottom layerwith the Pinking Hearts Border Punch (also punch the bottom layer of a piece ofWhisper White cardstock that is the same width as the tag).

Layer the DSP, Whisper White and BasicBlack for the card front. Add the scrap ribbon and pearls to the bottom of thetag, add the bow and sentiment (layered with the Decorative Label Punch usingthe short end) to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Friend to Friend- Two in One!

Hi Stampers!

I decided to create one more card thisweekend and chose the PP79 Paper Players "Tag It" challenge along with the SR107 Color Challenge from Stamping Royalty (a new challenge site for me). Again, both sites have fantastic design teamsand the samples are beautiful- if you have the time, check them out!

The colors were a bit bold and I wanted to show that even bold colors can create a vintage style card, so once the design was determined, this card was fairly quick to create- a bit of heat embossing, coloring and dry embossing and you are finished!

To create this card:

With Versamark™ ink stamp the floral imagefrom Elements of Style onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that has beentrimmed to a tag size. Heat embosswith Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder. Once the embossing powder cools, colorthe image with Stampin’ Write markers in Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade andPumpkin Pie.

Distress the edges with the DistressingTool and use a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake ink to “antique” the edges. Ink up the background stamp, Netting withCrumb Cake and stamp over the image as well.

Mount onto a piece of Pumpkin Pie DSP anddistress the edges. Attach a part of adoily from Flirtatious DSP (sponged with Crumb Cake ) and mount onto anembossed piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock (embossed with the Big Shot™ andthe Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder).

Mount onto another piece of the Pumpkin PieDSP (over a cardstock base), add the sentiment, pearls and bow to finish offthe card.

Stamp Sets: Elements of Style, Netting (background stamp), Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Versamark™, Tempting Turquoise, Stampin’Write Markers- Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade and Pumpkin Pie

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Tempting Turquoise, FlirtatiousDSP, Pumpkin Pie DSP (retired hostess pack)

Hi Again Stampers!

I was able to create one more card today using the colors from the Create with Connie and Mary CCMC185 Challenge alongwith the Stamping 411 SSC239 Sketch. Love both of these challenge sites and their designers have createdamazing projects- thanks again to both sites for all of their had work and inspiration!

Although the color combination is bright and "fruity", I decided to create a vintage card using one of may favorite stamp sets, Established Elegance.

To create this card:

Create the collage by randomly stamping the images from Established Eleganceusing Lucky Limeade, Peach Parfait and Calypso Coral onto Very Vanilla.

Cut the focal image out using the Big Shot™with the Framelits™ Label Collection and emboss with the Designer LabelTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder. Usethe 1” Circle Punch to punch out the three elements on the right and mount ontoLucky Limeade circles (use the 1 ¼” Circle Punch for layering).

Emboss the Lucky Limeade Designer SeriesPaper with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and theEveryday Enchantment DSP (SAB) with the Finial Press Textured Impressions™ EmbossingFolder. Lightly sand both panels toexpose the white core and lightly sponge to “distress”.

Assemble the card, add the Lucky Limeade1/8” Organdy Ribbon (SAB) along with the sentiment, Very Vanilla Taffeta bow, pearlsand brad to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Established Elegance, Short andSweet

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral, PeachParfait, Lucky Limeade DSP, Everyday Enchantment DSP (SAB)

Hi Stampers!

“Love is in the Air” with Valentine’s Dayapproaching and I thought I would take the time to create at least oneValentine’s Day card (although this may be a bit feminine for my husband).

I decided to use the Friday Mashup FM42colors (I love the colors that Rita chose but I have not mastered paper piercing yet to "Mash It Up" :-) along with the great FMS18 Freshly Made Sketch from Linda. Both siteshave terrific designers and the samples are just gorgeous! If you have the time, check them out!

Using Versamark™ ink, stamp the floralimage and the sentiment from Creative Elements onto Blushing Bride and RidingHood Red cardstock. Heat emboss usingStampin’ Emboss® Brown Embossing Powder (retired from SU! years ago- I need touse all of these colors up since I just read that embossing powder does have ashelf life).

Once cooled, carefully cut out the flowersand mount onto a panel of Blushing Bride that has been stamped with the scrollimage from Creative Elements (I just love this stamp set!).

Use the Big Shot™ with the Elegant LinesTextured Impressions™ Folder and emboss a piece of Early EspressoCardstock (I love embossed Early Espresso cardstock- it looks like dark chocolate:-)).

Assemble the card according to the sketchand add the pearls to finish.

CQC120- Two Cards with One "Quilt"

Hi Stampers!!

This week’s ColourQCQC120 Challenge colors are rich and vibrant and the inspiration photo remindsme of the 70’s (oh no, how can I be old enough to remember the 70’s…where did the time go?? :-)).

I decided to create a quilt card and the panelI made was too large for one card, so I was able to create two quick, easy cards.

The first step was to create the “quilt”panel with several squares of Designer Series Paper (I used Rich Razzleberry andWisteria Wonder) along with Island Indigo and Bravo Burgundy cardstock punchedout with the 1 ¼’ Square Punch. Adherethe squares in your chosen design to Whisper White cardstock and emboss withthe Big Shot™ using the Snow Burst Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Lightly sand with theSanding Block to expose the white core on the Designer Series Paper (remember thecore will not appear on the colored SU! cardstock since it has a solid color core).

For the first card,layer the quilted panel with additional Wisteria Wonder Designer Series panel,a punched border with the Eyelet Scallop Punch (use the Crimper Tool to addmore texture), 5/8” Satin Ribbon bow and the embossed focal image.

To create thefocal image, de-static a piece of Whisper White with the Embossing Buddy®,stamp the bee image from Nature’s Pace with Versamark® ink, apply Stampin’Emboss® Burgundy Embossing Powder (retired) and heat with the Heat Tool. Once cooled, emboss with the Big Shot™ andthe Oval Designer Frame TexturedImpressions™ Embossing Folder. Gently tear around the edges, attach to thecard and add the pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Nature’s Pace, Short and Sweet

Ink: Versamark™,Bravo Burgundy, Stampin’ Write Markers- Wisteria Wonder, Island Indigo

Paper: WhisperWhite, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Designer Frame (Oval) and SnowBurst Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Punches- 1 1/4” Square, LargeOval, Eyelet Border, 5/8”Burgundy Satin Ribbon (from my stash), Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, BurgundyEmbossing Powder (retired), Pearls

Since I still had apiece of the quilted panel remaining from this card, along with all of the othercardstock, I decided to create another quick Clean and Simple (CAS) card.

Mount the sandedpanel onto Whisper White, Island Indigo and another layer of WhisperWhite. Add the 5/8” Burgundy Satin Bowand adhere to the Bravo Burgundy and Island Indigo panels.

Add the sentiment andRhinestones to finish off the card.

Another long week at work but I finally hada chance to relax and stamp! I decidedto use the PP78 colors from my friends at the Paper Players (check out theirsamples- they are fabulous!) along with the Splitcoast Stampers SC366 Sketch Challenge.

To create this card:

Ink the background stamp, En Francais withPear Pizzazz Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Blushing Bridecardstock.

Ink the sentiment from Blessings fromHeaven with Calypso Coral Classic Ink and stamp onto Whisper Whitecardstock. “Huff” on the floral spraystamp (inked with the markers in the step above) and stamp over thesentiment. Punch out with the DecorativeLabel Punch and layer onto Calypso Coral.

This week’s ColourQCQC19 Challenge colors are bright, bold and fun, so much so that I decided tocreate two different cards utilizing the CQC119 colors along with a few otherchallenges! I hope that you will takethe time to visit their blogs and leave some comment “love” for their DesignTeams- they work so hard at keeping us inspired and motivated each week!

In addition to thecolor challenge, the first card uses the sketch from this week’s StampingQueens SQSC21 Challenge along with the Friday Mash Up FM41 Challenge (Thank Youcard with DSP).

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™with the Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions™Embossing Folder and emboss apiece of Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and Pumpkin Pie DSP.

Also with the BigShot™, cut a doily from the Paper Doily Sizzlit Die from Whisper Whitecardstock and hand trim the doily in half (this one was the second half from aprevious project).

Punch a few flowersfrom the Melon Mambo, Whisper White and Pretty in Pink embossed cardstock usingthe Boho Blossom Punch and one flower from Melon Mambo with the BlossomPunch.

Use the FlirtatiousDSP and create the tag and lower layer of the background. Assemble the card layers- add the 5/8” BasicGray Satin Ribbon bow, sentiment tags and Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Assemble the layers- addthe ribbon, sentiment, bow and pearl to finish off the card.

To create this card:

Ink the floralstamp from Fresh Vintage with Bashful Blue and stamp onto Bashful Blue cardstockfor the pennant strip and focal panel. Stamp the pennant piece with thebackground stamp, En Francais with Night of Navy and distress the edges withthe Distressing Tool and mount onto Night of Navy cardstock.

Use Versamark™ inkand stamp the floral spray image and the postage stamp onto Bashful Bluecardstock and apply Navy Stampin’ Emboss® Powder (retired). Heat emboss with the Heat Tool, distress the edgesof the focal image with the Distressing Tool, lightly sponge Night of Navyaround the edges and mount onto Night of Navy cardstock. Punch the postage stamp out with the 1”Square Punch and punch out a piece of Night of Navy cardstock with the PostageStamp Punch.

Brayer Night ofNavy on the smooth interior side of the Finial Press Textured Impressions™Folder, use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Bashful Blue cardstock (distressthe edges with the Distressing Tool and sponge Night of Navy lightly over theedges and panel).

Hi Again Stampers!!

While I had the CQC118 ColourQ colors out from my last post, I decided to create another card usingthe FM16 Sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

This is a fairlyquick and easy card with very little stamping and embossing...Not sure if I am happy with the Calypso Coral side panels- may remove those before mailing :-)

To create this card:

Stamp the floralimage from Fresh Vintage using Pool Pary Classic Ink onto Whisper Whitecardstock and emboss with the Big Shot™ and the Rectangular Designer LabelTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder. Cut out around the edges of the folder and adhere to a piece of PoolParty cardstock. Carefully cut outaround the edges of the embossing folder again, creating another layered frame.

Attach the 3/8” PoolParty Seam Binding Ribbon bow and mount onto another panel of Whisper White andCherry Cobbler.

Create three rolledflowers with the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and Pearls. Stamp the sentiment with Pool Party andCalypso Coral and punch out with the Jewelry Tag Punch.

Revised Card without Calypso Coral sides

Mount all onto layersof Everyday Enchantment DSP and Cherry Cobbler, adding the embossed panels ofCalypso Coral and more Seam Binding.

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to play withsome of the new products that I received for Christmas and the colors from thisweek’s CQC118 ColourQ were a perfect! Ifyou have not taken the time to visit their site this week, the Design Teamsamples and all of the other entries are terrific source of inspiration!

When I first saw thisnew set, Rue Des Fleurs, I laughed at the sentiment and knew that would beperfect with this bust image. I sendthis "virtual" card out to all of you for your support and am so thankful to have you and other friends in my life :-)

To create this card:

With the Big Shot™ and the Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, emboss the twopanels of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and lightly sand with the Sanding Blockto expose the white core. Mount onto apiece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™with the Paper Doily Sizzlits Die to cut a doily from Whisper White cardstock. Hand cut the doily in half and adhere to the bottom half of the card.

Stamp the image usingBasic Black Classic ink onto Whisper White cardstock and color with Stampin’Write markers in Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and CherryCobbler. Use the 2 ½” CirclePunch to punch out the image and mount onto two Cherry Cobbler circles punched with the same punch(offset the circles a bit to form a layer).

With the Bird BuilderPunch, punch out three leaves from Pear Pizzazz cardstock. Use the Boho Blossom Punch to punch out fourflowers (the largest one was used) from Calypso Coral. To break down the fibers of the cardstock on the flower, use the Crimper Tool to crimp the flowers several times. Carefully separate the layers of cardstock, use the 1/16” Handheld Punch to punch a holein the center and insert a mini brad. Scrunch the layers to create the flower and adhere the card with MiniGlue Dots.

Add the 5/8” SatinRibbon bow and sentiment to finish off the card.

I was in a bit of a reflective state todayand since it is a New Year thought I would join my fellow stamping bloggers indisplaying a personal favorite from each month (a Year in Review). February 2011- This is a hybrid card that I made for my wonderful husband last year :-)

March 2011- I love nature and Nature Walk is one of my favorite sets :-)

April 2011- A quick sponge technique combined with embossing- Clean and Simple!

May 2011- A tribute to our Armed Forces and a reminder to pray for them each day

June 2011- Two more CAS cards with the same color combination (and the dream of traveling :-))

July 2011- Several types of embossing techniques were used for this one along a new set from the 2011 catalog :-)

August 2011- Created for a friend that was moving on to a different job (this one uses a simple masking and sponging technique)

September 2011- Another one of the new stamps sets that I "had" to have (love this bee!) This card incorporates a punched layer central panel and sentiment that were fun to make...

October 2011- This color combination seemed like an "unlikely trio" but after playing with the colors, I found the combination a great one (and will use it again)

November 2011- This card was created for a "girly-girl" challenge and I had so much fun "dressing it up"!

December 2011- This card was one of a kind that I made for my father and step-mother (they live in another state and I do not get to see them for Christmas). I do miss seeing them and hope they enjoyed this card as much as I did creating it for them! :-)

CCC12- Twenty Six Christmas Cards- Yea!!

Hi Stampers!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I decided to start early this year creating my Christmas cards for 2012. First, I signed up for the 2012 CCC12 Splitcoast Christmas Card Challenge again this year and have committed to making at least 20cards per month! I know it soundsambitious, but for some reason, I was unable to follow thru with mailing mycards this year and barely had enough for hand distribution (last year I had created 110 cards).

I did not want to fall short again thisyear, therefore the minimum of 20 per month should be enough for our church family and relatives. I am going to make sure that I follow through on the multiples as welland try to create more CAS cards with fewer layers and embellishments (except for the hand deliverycards). Thankfully, I have this blog and my friends that visit me to help keep me accountable :-)

This card was fairly quick and easy (once I decided on the background color- almost went with Crushed Curry since I had it out from the previous project- still need to use up the huge stockpile from the Clearance Rack :-)) I even ended up making 26 total - not an easy task with my Angel "girl" helping me- isn't she cute? :-))

This card incorporates My Digital Studio for the main image (what a time saver!) along with traditional stamping for the sentiment only. I had to resize the main image a few times before deciding that eight images per 8.5 x 11" piece of Whisper White would be the best size (therefore there are two sizes of cards).

Print the MDS image onto Whisper White cardstock using Black printer ink and layer the image ontoBasic Black cardstock.

Use the Decorative Label Punch to punch out labels from Whisper White and line up the sentiment on the upper and lower half of the label (cut the punched image in half so you will have the sentiment label for two separate cards).

Adhere the sentiment behind the main image and onto the Perfect Plum embossed panel (emboss using the Big Shot™ with the Snow Burst Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder).

Add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow and a Rhinestone to the star to finish off the card!

Stamp Sets: Come to Bethlehem (My Digital Studio and Clear Mount)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black and Basic Black

Cardstock: Whisper White, Perfect Plum

I wanted to createanother card with the new set, Fresh Vintage along with a new embossing folder anddecided to use this week’s CQC117 ColourQ Challenge colors- black and white with a popof color along with the SUO35 Feel A Little Punchy Challenge. If you have not had the chanceto check out their site, the Design Team samples and all of the other entriesare absolutely fabulous!

I chose a yellow pop of color (Crushed Curry- I know not everyone's favorite but I have quite a bit in stock) for this quick, easy and fun Clean and Simple (CAS) card :-)!!

To create this card:

With the Big Shot™and the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die cut the large flower from Crushed Curry. Emboss the flower with the Perfect Dots TexturedImpressions™ Embossing Folder and embossa piece of Whisper White with the heart strip from the Adorning Accents TexturedImpressions™ Embossing Folder set.

De-static a pieceof Whisper White with the Embossing Buddy®, stamp the round image from VintageStamp with Versamark® ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder andheat with the Heat Tool. Once cooled,punch out with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch.

Repeatedly stamp thefloral scroll image using Crushed Curry ink on the smooth edges of the embossedWhisper White background and attach two strips of 5/8” Basic Black SatinRibbon.

Stamp the sentimentusing Basic Black Classic Ink onto Whisper White and use the Decorative Labelpunch to punch out the sentiment along with the Basic Black layer.

Layer the pieces andadd the pearl to the center of the flower to finish off the card.

Happy New Year (well, almost:-)) !!

I love the colors that my stamping friend, Ann chose for The Paper Players PP76 Challenge and wanted to create another Christmas card.

Iknow, most of you are tired of Christmas but I am re-committing my Christmas card effort in 2012. I must confess that even though I started in January last year, I under estimated how many I actually needed so I am now publicly stating this commitment (and will post my progress each month) in hopes that this will help me be more accountable and I will accomplish my goal :-)

I decided to combine Ann's color challenge with thisweek’s CCMC182 Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge and used a new set (sneak peak).

To create this card:

Ink the stamp image using Versamark™ inkonto Very Vanilla cardstock, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder andheat emboss with the Heat Tool. Once theimage has cooled, punch out the images using the Postage Stamp Punch.

With the Big Shot™ emboss a piece of CherryCobbler with the Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and embossa piece of Very Vanilla with the Elegant Bouquet EF.

Lightly spray the Very Vanilla embossedpanel with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (this step does not show up on the photo but adds a bit more glitter and gold), layerwith the Cherry Cobbler cardstock pieces, 5/8” Satin Ribbon and a punched border with the LaceRibbon Punch.

Add the sentiment to finish off the card

I decided to combine the Monkey88 Challenge with the “Christmas-y” colors from this week’s CQC116 ColourQ Challenge (thesecolors were a bit of a challenge for me and believe me, Glorious Green andKraft are on the card).

To create this card:

Use a Brayer to inkthe smooth interior side of the Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions™ EmbossingFolder and emboss two pieces of Whisper White cardstock (re-inking the folderbetween embossing).

Ink the floral sprayimage with Stampin’ Write markers using Cherry Cobbler, Lucky Limeade andGlorious Green- stamp onto Whisper White cardstock. Emboss with the Big Shot™ and the DesignerOval Frame Textured Impressions ™ Embossing Folder. Carefully cut out around the edges of the oval frame and usinga Sponge Dauber, lightly sponge Crumb Cake ink around the edges.

Use the DecorativeLabel punch and punch out a label from Lucky Limeade cardstock- emboss with theFinial Press Textured Impressions ™ Embossing Folder and cut in half. Also emboss a piece of Designer Series Paperwith the Finial Press EF and lightly sand the paper to expose the white core.

Layer the DesignerLabel Frame onto the large oval cut from the Oval Originals™ Die (I used a scrappiece that I had already embossed with the Finial Press EF and sprayed withFrost White Shimmer Paint).

Add the satin ribbon,sentiment label and pearls to finish off the card.

Old Fashioned Christmas- Three in One!

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create a special Christmas cardand decided to use the CCMC180 Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge along with the Hand Stamped Sentiments HSSAOFC97 Old Fashioned Christmastheme. This card also qualifies for theStampin’ Up! Only SUO34 Holiday Challenge- if you have time, check out all ofthe challenge sites (the Design Teams and other entries provide so manyfabulous ideas!)

To create this card:

Stamp the chickadee image from BeautifulSeason using Versamark™ ink onto Whisper White cardstock, apply Stampin’Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat emboss with the Heat Tool. Once the image has cooled, emboss again withthe Big Shot™ and the Designer Oval Frame Textured Impressions™ EmbossingFolder.

Color the image with Stampin’ Write markersin Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and use a Blender Pen with Basic Gray for thebird. Tear around the outside edges,distress by hand and use a Sponge Dauber to apply Crumb Cake ink to the edgesand over the image to “antique” the paper.

With the Big Shot™ and the Square Lattice andFinial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, emboss a piece ofDesigner Series paper for the background layer as well as the vertical layerbehind the bird image (retired Deck the Halls ). Carefully sand the background layer with theSanding Block.

Triple Treat Embedded Christmas

Hi Stampers!

Here it is again, anotherlong week has passed and I have not had a chance to stamp a card for achallenge- I am having withdrawal symptoms :-)!

I decided to take a break from making my bulk Christmas cards to createa quick easy Clean and Simple card using the bright fun colors for this week’s CQC115 ColourQ Challenge along withthe FM15 sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.

To create this card:

Ink the Triple TreatFlower with Real Red Classic ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock (stampa total of four flowers in Real Red). Clean the stamp and stamp the flower again onto Whisper White using Regal Rose Classic Ink. After cleaningthe stamp one more time, use a Glorious Green Stampin’ Write marker to ink up thecenter of the Triple Treat Flower stamp and stamp onto a scrap piece of WhisperWhite.

Use the FancyFlower punch to punch out all of the Triple Treat flowers in Real Red. Punch out the five petal area of the Regal Rose flowerusing the 5-Petal Flower Punch and punch out the Glorious Green center using the ½”Circle Punch.

Cut one of the RealRed flowers in half and adhere the halves at an angle onto Whisper White cardstock. Adhere two of the remaining flowers onto theWhisper White cardstock as well (this creates the angled layer for thesketch). Use the Big Shot™ with theSquare Lattice Textured Impressions ™ Embossing Folder to embed the flowersinto the background.

Assemble the finalReal Red flower with the Regal Rose petal section and Glorious Green center onto a piece ofGlorious Green (embossed with the Finial Press Textured Impressions ™ EmbossingFolder). Add the Green Galore leaves (created with the5-Petal Flower punch and a score line up the center of each leaf). Mount this panel onto Real Red cardstock, addthe 5/8” Real Red Satin Ribbon, Sentiment Label and Rhinestone to finish offthe card.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Snowmen!

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create one more card this week and decided to use the colors from thisweek’s CQC114 ColourQ Challenge along with the Monkey86 sketch/theme from A LaCard Monkey and the FM36 Baby It's Cold Outside Challenge from The Friday Mashup!.

If you have the time, check out the Design Team samples from each of these sites as well as the other entries- they are gorgeous!

To create this card:

Heat emboss thesnowman image using Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder, color with Stampin’Write markers in Poppy Parade, Certainly Celery and Crumb Cake. Use a Blender Pen with Cool Caribbean tohighlight the shadows and punch out with the 2 ½” XL Circle Punch.

Layer a piece of PoppyParade DSP onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and adhere the snowflakes (cutfrom the Northern Frost Decorative Die) with 2-Way Glue. Use the Big Shot™ with the Square Lattice TexturedImpressions™ Embossing Folder (EF) to emboss the entire panel.

Cut three pieces ofcardstock with the Big Shot™ and the Scallop Circles #2 Die (two from PoppyParade and one from Cool Caribbean using the largest of the two scallopcircles).

Use the Big Shot withthe Snow Burst Textured Impressions™ EF to emboss the Cool Caribbean scallopand from the center of the embossed scallop circle, punch out a circle usingthe 1 ¾” Circle Punch (this will become the layer behind the snowflake on thelower left).

Layer the card perthe sketch- add the sentiment and pearls to finish off the card.

PP75 Non-Traditional Christmas Card

Hi Stampers!

Wow, it seems like it has been foreversince I have had a chance to stamp! Thisweek has been very busy at work and a lot of overtime hours but just in the nick of time, I was able to participate in the Paper Players PP75 Holiday Hoopla Challenge (if you have time to visit their site, check out all of the samples- they are absolutely fabulous!)

The non-traditional stamp set used is Dayof Gratitude (can you see it as the ornament tops) and the colors are somewhatnon-traditional (depending on the fashion trend when you were young).

I decided to use silver, pink and turquoise- those colors remind me of a silver tinsel tree that we had as our family Christmas tree for years (my mother loved all of the silver!:-)).Oh no, I am aging myself- do you remember those tinsel trees? :-)

With Versamark™ ink stamp the medallionimage from Day of Gratitude onto Whisper White cardstock and heat embosswith Stampin’ Emboss® Silver Embossing Powder. Once the embossing powder cools,use a Sponge Dauber with Pink Pirouette ink to color the white cardstock andcarefully cut around the image.

Use the Ornament Punch to punch out thecaps for the ornaments and also punch out the ornament shapes from a piece ofTempting Turquoise (embossed with the Snow Burst Textured Impressions™Embossing Folder).

Use the Big Shot™ with the Snow Burst TexturedImpressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Pretty in Pink and BasicGray. Layer the cardstock, ribbon, ornamentsand sentiment.

Two Challenges, Embedded Embossing and More!

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create a card using the colorsfrom this week’s CCMC177 Create with Connie and Mary Challenge along withthe Stamping411 SSC231 Sketch Challenge. Both sites have excellent Design Teams and other entries that provide plenty of inspiration each week!

To create this card:

Stamp the floral spray from Friends NeverFade using Versamark™ ink onto River Rock cardstock, apply Stampin’ Emboss® NavyEmbossing Powder (retired) and heat emboss with the Heat Tool. Once the image has cooled, emboss again withthe Big Shot™ and the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ EmbossingFolder (this creates the Embedded Embossing layer). Mount our homemade Designer Paper onto Night ofNavy cardstock.

Also stamp the focal image with Versamark™ink onto a piece of Lucky Limeade cardstock and again onto a piece of WhisperWhite cardstock- apply Stampin’ Emboss® Navy Embossing Powder (retired) andheat emboss with the Heat Tool. Oncecooled, cut the flower out from the Whisper White embossed piece, color thecenter with a Stampin’ Write River Rock marker and adhere over the LuckyLimeade flower (paper piecing the flower in the image).

Another alternative to the Navy Embossing Powder (EP) would be to ink the stamp with Night of Navy Craft ink and heat emboss withClear EP, or ink with Versamark™ ink, then ink with Night of Navy Classic Inkand heat emboss with Clear EP.

Using a Brayer, apply Night of Navy inkonto the smooth interior side of the Finial Press Textured Impressions™Embossing Folder and emboss a piece of Lucky Limeade. Adhere this layer to Night of Navy and RiverRock.

With the Big Shot™ and the Designer Frame(rectangular) EF, emboss a piece of Lucky Limeade and Whisper White. Carefully cut around the edges and lightlysponge with a Sponge Dauber.

Layer the card according to the sketch,adhere the 5/8” White Satin Ribbon Bow and mount onto the Night of Navy card baseto finish off the card.

Clean and Simple Winter "Wonderland"

Hi Stampers!

Since I still hadthe stamp set, Lovely As A Tree out fromthe previous project, I decided to create a Clean and Simple (CAS) card for the Hand StampedSentiments HSSTC93 Winter Wonderland Theme Challenge (in fact, I was able to create two cards from one stamped image):-).

Again, the Hand StampedSentiments Design Team has created so many different projects- if you have aminute, check them out!

To create these cards:

Use the maskingtechnique to create the night sky (I was inspired by the gorgeous night skythis evening) and mask off the moon and snow banks on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

With a Sponge Dauber apply Basic Gray ClassicInk across the sky area ( hold the masks in place with the other hand while you sponge).

Stamp thebackground tree image with Versamark™ ink onto the sponged background. ApplyStampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Once the embossingpowder has cooled, repeat the steps to emboss the large pine tree in thecenter (to hide an area that did not fully emboss from my first image- see now you know all of my secrets:-)) My finished piece at this point was 4” wideand since I had to stamp the large tree right in the middle of the image, I decided to cut down the scene to create two cards.

The first card wascreated with the larger of the two sponged/embossed images. Layer the image onto Basic Black and WhisperWhite cardstock, spray with Frost WhiteShimmer Paint spray, adhere the black satin bow and mount onto the embossedpanels of black and white to finish off the card.

The second cardutilizes a few cardstock scraps of Real Red and Basic Black, and embossingfolder and Real Red Satin Ribbon.

Not sure if Iwould fully describe these cards as “Winter Wonderlands” since they do not havea lot of glitter and glitz, but sometimes for me, the like the monochromaticlook of black and white.

Two Cards with One Color Challenge!

Before I couldconcentrate on creating my swap card for an upcoming quarterly demo meeting held by my upline, I decided to create afew cards using the colors from this week’s ColourQ CQC112 Challenge (the second card was created for JAI95 “Bah-Humbug” Christmas Challenge).

To create the firstcard:

Cut a piece ofcardstock from Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler andEarly Espresso and adhere to a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp the scrollimage from Creative Elements with Versamark™ ink and heat emboss with Stampin’Emboss® White Embossing Powder. Attachthe 5/8” Whisper White Satin Ribbon bow, layer into an embossed panel (usingthe Finial Press EF) and add the sentiment. Quick and easy!

The second card was created with the CQC112 colors and with the Just Add Ink JAI95 “Bah-Humbug” Christmas Challenge in mind- create a Christmas project but with NO Christmas Paper, No Christmas Images (Christmas Sentiment allowed).

To create this landscapecard:

Mask the hill areaand sky using cardstock or repositionable note paper- sponge Daffodil Delightfor the center of the sun area. Removethe sky mask and place a mask over the sponged sun area. Sponge Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Cobbler overthe sky area and drag a bit over the sun (once you remove the mask).

Ink the tree imageswith Early Espresso and stamp the line of trees for the background. Stamp the large tree with Versamark™ and heatemboss using Stampin’ Emboss® Dark Brown Embossing Powder (retired).

Spray the panel withChampagne Mist Shimmer Paint spray, round the corners and attach the 5/8” EarlyEspresso Satin Ribbon bow (retired).

Adhere to an embossedpanel (use the Big Shot™ with the Snow Burst Textured Impressions™ EmbossingFolder), mount the sentiment and finish off the card.

Clean and Simple- Two in One!

Hi Stampers!

Well, I was able to create another cardtoday while my husband watched football (his team won- yea for both of us!).

This week my "gals" at the Paper Players have the PP73 Clean and Simple Challenge - such a classic combo and one of my favorites! Also the Pals Paper Arts PPA121 CAS Challenge is Pearls (are you kidding me, this one is perfect since I cannot seem to make a card without pearls!)

So here is my card (believe me, this one is pretty quick and easy)!

With Versamark™ ink stamp the poinsettiaimages and sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock and heat emboss withStampin’ Emboss® Silver Embossing Powder.

Once the embossing powder cools, "fussy cut" around the poinsettia images and center the sentiment within the DecorativeOval Frame Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder. Emboss the frame with the Big Shot™ and use the Versamark™marker to ink the edges of the embossing- heat emboss with the Silver EmbossingPowder (the marker worked great, but ifyou did not have the marker, you could also run the edge along the Versamark™pad). Or you could skip this set altogether- you cannot really see it :-)

Use the Big Shot™ along with the Petals-A-PlentyTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the Night of Navy cardstock andthe Snow Burst folder for the Whisper White panel.

Assemble the card and add the 5/8” Night ofNavy Satin Ribbon along with the pearls to finish off the card.

FM34 Sugar and Spice- Two for One!

Hi Stampers!

This week has been a long one with my husband getting over the flu (but not before giving me partof it compounded with my asthma:-)) and long hours at work, so I have not been able to post as often as I would like...

I hope all of you in the United States enjoyed your Thanksgiving Day and had a chance to spend time with your loved ones, giving thanks for all of our blessings! May we never take our blessings for granted- our freedom, our country, the men and women who defend our country, our families and most of all the salvation we have through Christ our Lord!

Since this is my last week as the GuestDesigner for the Friday Mashup, I decided to create two cards for the FM34“Sugar and Spice Makes Christmas Nice” Challenge (only the first one was posted on the Design Team portion of Friday Mashup blog- scroll down to see the second one). If you have the time, let me know which one you like the best! :-)

Here are the details for theFM34 "Mashup" Challenge :

Make a project featuring "A Christmas Theme".
Or Make a project using the colors "Aqua, Chocolate & White".
Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Christmas themed project using the colors Aqua, Chocolate & White".

I just love the inspiration photo- those chocolates look too pretty to eat (who am I kidding- they look scrumptious!) . I really wanted to "glam" up the card so I decided to use embossing powder with a bit of glitter and rhinestones but kept it quick and easy!

Stamp the tree image with Versamark™ ink ontoa piece of Pool Party cardstock and heat emboss using Stampin’ Emboss® SilverEmbossing Powder. Adhere the 5/8” White Satin Ribbon and mount onto WhisperWhite cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Perfect DetailsTexturz™ Plate and emboss a piece of Soft Suede (spray the cardstock with 70%alcohol first to obtain a deeper impression). Spray the embossed panel with Frost White Shimmer Paint (also mixed with70% alcohol)- fyi- I use the Heat Tool to speed up the drying process on both ofthese steps.

To give the card a bit more glitz, use2-Way Glue along the embossed edges on the background piece and apply DazzlingDiamonds Glitter.

Adhere to another layer of Pool Party andthe Whisper White card base – add a few Rhinestones to finish off the card.

FYI- I find it verydifficult to photograph glitter (the card does look a lot better in real life).

Here is the second card that I created for this challenge:

Using cardstock to mask the hill areas and moon, sponge Pool Party Classic Ink over the sky area and to create snow drifts and mist. Stamp the trees in Soft Suede Classic Ink and the star shaped verse stamp from The Sounding Joy with Pool Party Classic Ink.

Using Versamark™ ink, stamp Dasher and heat emboss using Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder.

Use the Big Shot™ with the rectangular Decorative Frame Textured Impressions™ Folder and emboss around Dasher and use a Sponge Dauber to apply Soft Suede ink to highlight the frame. Also with the Northern Frost Decorative Strip and cut a few snowflakes out of Whisper White cardstock. Lightly sponge Pool Party and Soft Suede Classic Ink onto the snowflakes and use 2-Way Glue with Dazzling Diamonds.

Using the Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions™ Folder emboss a piece of Soft Suede and a piece of Pool Party cardstock with the Snow Burst Textured Impressions™ Folder.

Trim the corners of the focal image on a diagonal and punch with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. Spray the entire panel with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint spray.

Attach the 3/8” Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon, Pearls and snowflakes. Add the sentiment to finish off the card.

Another week and finally a chance to stamp and catch up on a few of my favorite weekly challenges!

I wanted to create acard using the beautiful colors from this week’s ColourQ CQC111 Challenge alongwith the FMS11 Sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. I also decided to add a Rosette (had so muchfun making these for the Friday Mashup! FM33 Challenge)….again, if you have notalready checked out these sites, take a few moments to visit- the Design Team samples as well as all of the other entries are just fabulous!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™, emboss a piece of RichRazzleberry cardstock with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™Embossing Folder and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder with a piece of PearPizzazz.

Using Versamark™ink, stamp the leaf images onto Whisper White cardstock and heat emboss withStampin;’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder. Once the embossing has cooled, randomly apply Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pieand Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink using the Aqua Painter (push the lid of theinkpad to the pad to lift the ink with the Aqua Painter). Lightly wipe the excess ink from the embossedareas and heat with the Heat Tool to dry the watercolor. Stamp the background stamp with Crumb Cake ClassicInk and finish the focal image with the seal using Rich Razzleberry ClassicInk.

Mount the focalimage onto Whisper White, stamp the sentiment with Rich Razzleberry Classic Inkand layer the pieces onto the Whisper White card base.

Cut three piecesof Pumpkin Pie Designer Series Paper into 6” x ½” strips. Use the Simply Scored™ tool to score every ¼”,fold and adhere together at the ends. Draw up the circle into the rosette, use a Pop-Up Glue® Dot to hold the rosetteand press an Antique Brad into the center to hide the glue (I removed the prongson the back of the brad). Use another Glue®Dot to adhere the rosette to the card.

Boy, does time fly when you are having fun(or extremely busy)... This is my thirdweek already as a Guest Designer for the Friday Mashup and I am having so muchfun seeing all of the gorgeous creations that have been submitted!

Holly has come up with a wonderful sketchand to “Mash it Up”, you can add Rosettes. I personally had never made a Rosette before but had seenmany of them on cards, wreaths and other 3D projects, I could not wait to try :-) !

Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Project with the Sketch using Rosettes".

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the Snow BurstTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Very Vanilla, EarlyEspresso and Pool Party cardstock.

Cut strips of Spice Cake Designer SeriesPaper into strips (remember that the final Rosette will be twice the width ofthe strip). Using the stylus with theSimply Scored™ Tool, score every ¼” to create the score lines for the folds onthe Rosettes. Flatten the Rosette anduse a Pop-Up Dot to hold the Rosette in place.

For the smaller Rosette, adhere a flowerpunched with the Boho Blossom Punch from Early Espresso Cardstock, insert theAntique Brad and adhere to the card front.

Ink the small floral stamp with Early Espressoink and stamp off several times before stamping onto Very Vanillacardstock. Stamp the sentiment withEarly Espresso and punch out with the Decorative Label Punch layering ontoEarly Espresso punched with the same punch.

Spray the entire card with Champagne MistShimmer Paint spray to finish off the card.

This card is definitely one that would have to be hand delivered due to the bulk but I do believe that I will have to make more Rosettes in the future! I hope you like this card and try this technique yourself- how about this week and join us at the Friday Mash Up!

Mocha Morning Christmas- Three in One!

Hi Stampers!

I created this card using this week’s CCMC175 Color Challenge at Create with Connieand Mary along with the HSSTC92 Over the Top Theme Challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments and the FMS10 Sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. If you have the time to visit- all of these sites have wonderful samples from their Design Teams as well as the entries from all of the participants.

To create this card:

Cut the Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper into three sections and layer onto Cherry Cobbler.

Layer the 3/8” Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon to cover up the sections.

Stamp the sentiment in Versamark™ ink onto More Mustard cardstock and heat emboss with Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder. Adhere the DSP panel onto the More Mustard layer and onto a Basic Black cardstock front. Spray with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint spray.

Repeatedly stamp the tree image from Snow Swirled onto More Mustard cardstock using Versamark™ ink (as a background stamp rotating the tree stamp to cover the paper) and heat emboss with Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder. Once the embossing powder cools, punch out two ornaments with the Ornament Punch.

Cut a length of 3/8” Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon and carefully trim the ribbon between the quilting (you can get up to four to five sections of ribbon from one piece). Tie the thin piece of ribbon into a bow and adhere to the top of the ornament with a Mini Glue Dot.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, mount the ornament to the card front and add the Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Cardstock: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard, Mocha Morning DSP

I wanted to create a thank you card this evening (you can never have enough thank you cards) so I decided to use the gorgeous colors from this week’s ColourQ CQC110 Challenge. If you have thetime, check out the Design Team and other entries- there is such a variety of projects and somuch inspiration!

This card is another easycard that utilizes your own Designer Paper created with the Rock-n-Roll techniquealong with Dry Embossing and Distressing- what could be more fun?

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™, cut a Top Note from WhisperWhite cardstock using the Top Note Bigz™ Die. Use the Rock-n-Roll Technique to stamp the leaves with Peach Parfait andDusty Durango Classic Ink. Stamp theleaf outline images with Soft Suede Classic Ink, sponge with Pool Party ClassicInk and spray with the Color Spritzer Tool and Dusty Durango Stampin’ Writemarker. Distress the edges and sponge SoftSuede Classic Ink to antique the edges.

Stamp thesentiment with Soft Suede onto Whisper White cardstock. After stamping the leaf images in Pool Party andSoft Suede (stamping both “off” first), use the Big Shot™ to emboss the DecorativeOval Frame Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder. Carefully cut around the edge and sponge theedges with Soft Suede.

Spray both the TopNote shape and the sentiment with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (mixed with 70%alcohol).

Emboss the PoolParty layer with the Big Shot™ and the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™Embossing Folder and the Dusty Durango cardstock layer with the Finial Press TexturedImpressions™ Embossing Folder. Distressthe Pool Party layer and sponge both layers with Soft Suede.

Layer the entirecard, add the 5/8” Satin Ribbon (from my stash) to finish off the card.

FM32 Girly Girl Challenge

Wow- a week has gone by already! I have been working a lot of OT at my daytimejob and have not had a chance to play as much as I would like in my stamproom :-(

This is my second week as a GuestDesigner for the Friday Mashup! and what a great challenge we have in store foryou!

So here is the FM32"Mashup" Challenge :

Make a project featuring "A Girly Theme".
Or Make a project using "Your Favorite Technique".
Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Girly project using your Favorite Technique".

I decided to “Mash it Up!” and includeseveral of my favorite techniques- heat embossing, dry embossing, rolledflowers, homemade designer paper and distressing!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the VintageWallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of BlushingBride cardstock. Lightly sponge thecardstock with Basic Black Classic Ink to bring out the raised areas.

With Basic Black Classic Ink, stamp thesentiment onto Whisper White cardstock and emboss with the Decorative OvalFrame Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder. Carefully cut out the oval frame around the embossed edge and lightly sponge the edge with BasicBlack Classic Ink.

On a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock, stampthe images in Basic Black (stamping some images off the paper first to give thelighter images). Tear the upper cornersand distress the edges with the Sponge Dauber and Basic Black Classic Ink.

With Versamark™ ink, stamp the dress formimage on another piece of Sahara Sand cardstock and heat emboss with BlackStampin’ Emboss® Embossing Powder. Carefully cut the image out around the embossed outline.

Punch out three circles using the 1 3/8”Circle Punch from Blushing Bride cardstock. Run thru the Crimper Tool and break up the fibers slightly. Cut around the circles in a wavy linestarting from the outside edge of the circle to the center (spiral cut) andcreate the three rolled flowers.

Assemble the layers and add the lace,ribbon and pearls to finish off the card.

REVISED CARD WITH THE COLOURQ CHALLENGE COLORS

Hi Stampers!

I was not totallypleased with the way the radish card (see details below) turned out using the CQC109 colors so Idecided to take off the vanilla satin ribbon and front panel to salvage thecard (I will save the front panel and ribbon for another card in thefuture).

This is a basic "Clean and Simple" (CAS) card and wasextremely easy-I already had the layered embossed panels, so I added a few punched embossed squares and a bit of ribbon, stamped the TripleTreat Flower in Pumpkin Pie and Island Indigo Classic Ink on Very Vanillacardstock and used the coordinating floral punchesto punch out the flowers, added a pearl for the center and viola the card isfinished!

I decided to create acard using the colors from this week’s CQC109 ColourQ Challenge are a great combination-love the retro feel! Again, the DesignTeam and other entries look fabulous- if you have the chance, check them out!

Since I had the embossing gun out from mylast card, I decided to incorporate embossing into this card as well….

To create this card:

Ink the background stamp, Well Worn withSoft Suede Classic Ink and stamp onto Very Vanilla. De-static the Very Vanilla with the EmbossingBuddy®, stamp the radish image with Versamark® ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® ClearEmbossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool. Use Sponge Daubers to apply Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler andIsland Indigo Classic ink to the image. Gentlywipe off the embossed image, trim and spray with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint(mixed with 70% alcohol).

Stamp the sentiment with Island Indigo andassemble the layers. Add the 5/8” VeryVanilla Satin Ribbon bow and pearls to finish off the card.

This card really sparkles in real life and was a bit difficult to photograph:-) I hope you like it!

Give Thanks- Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to playsome more with some of my newly acquired stamps and decided to create a card for the HandStamped Sentiments HSSIC90 Theme Challenge- Giving Thanks.

Again, their Design Team has created so manydifferent projects- if you have a minute, check them out!

To create thiscard:

Ink your brayerwith More Mustard and apply the ink lightly to a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Use the brayer to apply Cajun Craze andRiding Hood Red to the same cardstock as well.

Use the EmbossingBuddy® to de-static the brayered cardstock and stamp the leaf images with Versamark™ink. Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powderand heat with the Heat Tool. Once theembossing powder has cooled, sponge Early Espresso ink over the leaf images andgently wipe off the ink from the leaves.

With the Big Shot™ and the Top Note Bigz™Die, cut a two die cuts- one from Early Espresso and the other from embossedleaf panel. Cut the leaf panel Top Noteshape in half and trim the serrated edge off the piece that will be used forthis card (save the other half for another project).

With the Big Shot™ and the Square LatticeTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder emboss a piece of the More Mustard cardstock-adhere this embossed panel to an Early Espresso cardstock layer.

Emboss the lower half of the Top Note Diewith the Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and mount the TopNote shape onto the More Mustard layer.

Stamp the sentiment with Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and add a few leaves stamped with Riding Hood Red (stamp offbefore stamping onto the sentiment). Punch out with the Decorative Label Punch and layer onto a piece ofembossed More Mustard (punched with the same punch from the Square Latticeembossed panel- I punched this one from behind the Top Note area where you would never see :-)).

Spray the entire card front with ChampagneShimmer Paint (mixed with 70% alcohol) and add the 5/8” Early Espresso SatinRibbon. Mount onto a layer of Riding HoodRed to finish off the card.

Tutorial- Bow Tying

Hi Stampers!

I love using bows on my cards and have a hard time making a project without a bow! Recently, many of you haveinquired how I make my bows so I thought I would try to write a tutorial of thedifferent ways to create a bow.

Believe it or not, inexpensivetools that you have on hand can be used to create bows!

For single bows-

I either tie directly right off the roll or use a water bottle. Tying off the roll- take the ribbon and loop over your left hand finger- tighten to aloop- and hold with your right hand. Withyour left hand, bring the tail up from behind and from the left and over the top of the loop inyour right hand and push the tail behind the pinched loop and thru opening tocreate the bow (just like tying your shoelaces).

If you want to tie asingle bow that can attach across the card, a water bottle can come inhandy. I used to waitress (ages ago :-)and had to tie my apron in a French Knot and found that the technique of how Iused to tie my apron came in handy for tying bows.

Take an ordinary waterbottle and place the bottle in front of you (I use my lap or the table and havethe bottle in front of me with the bow tying area in the front- as if to tieyour apron). Wrap the ribbon around the bottle, take thetwo ends and start to tie the bow. Left overright, tighten the knot on the bottle and hold with your finger to hold ittight. Loop the right end , hold the loop with your right hand finger (holding it tight against the bottle) pull the left end back in front of the rightloop and over to behind to complete the bow. Again, just like tying your shoe!

Snip the ribbon in the back of the bottle(being careful not to cut your bottle, especially if you still have water init:-)). I generally try to cut the ribbonin the back keeping in mind, where I want the bow placement on my card. If you want the bow to be in the center, thencut the ribbon in the center (so that you have equal amount of ribbon on bothsides of the bow). If you would prefer tohave the bow be on one side or the other of the card front, then determinewhich side you should cut the ribbon in the back to allow enough ribbon tocover the card front.

Fork Method: You can use a large serving fork (I have a turkey lifter) and use the tongs as a “jig” and this works well for single, double or triple bows! So search your kitchen to see what you can use:-)

Use the tongs to hold the ribbonas you wrap around and tie in the center. You Tube has a few videos that you can search for other fork tyingmethods.

"Fork Tied" Bows

Homemade Bow Jig- Scrap 2x4 & Nails

Other jigs- I have a bow maker from years ago that can beused for larger bow making and recently had my husband take a scrap piece of 2x 4 and nail several 8# finishing nails into the wood. I wrapped the nails with masking tape and tiethe ribbon around the posts (pinching them slightly to release the bow).

There are other jigs on the internet – my upline recentlypurchased a few and I acquired one from her that I believe she may have boughtfrom Lee Conrey. It is a wooden dowelsystem and works extremely well.

Now you know all of my secrets for bow making :-) !! If you have another way to create the perfect bow, let us know...

Use the Big Shot™along with the Perfect Dots Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss apiece of Baja Breeze and the Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder toemboss a piece of Island Indigo.

Use the brayer toapply Baja Breeze ink to a piece of Whisper White and stamp the En Francais backgroundstamp with Baja Breeze ink over the brayered paper.

Ink the leafimages from French Foliage in Island Indigo and Rich Razzleberry and stamp randomly onto the brayered panel to create thecollage. Distress this panel with theDistressing Tool and layer onto Island Indigo cardstock (adding the embossed panelat the bottom - punch the edge with the Eyelet Scallop Border Punch).

On Whisper Whitecardstock, stamp the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink. :Huff: onto the leaf stamps to “re-moisten”the ink from stamping the main panel and stamp around the sentiment. Emboss using the Big Shot™ with the DecorativeOval Frame Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and sponge with Baja Breeze ClassicInk to bring out the detail. Carefullycut out around the embossing and adhere under the focal panel.

Add the 5/8” RichRazzleberry Satin Ribbon and pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: French Foliage, En Francais, Short and Sweet

Ink: Baja Breeze,Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry

Cardstock: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Island Indigo

I decided to create my own "Designer Paper" with a brayer and four of the challenge colors for the center panel and also used Heat Embossing for the flowers.

To create thiscard:

On two pieces of WhisperWhite cardstock, brayer So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Peach Parfait Classicink. Once one piece, stamp the flourishin Basic Black and mount onto Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock.

On the other piece, de-static with theEmbossing Buddy®, stamp the floral images with Versamark® ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat with the HeatTool. Carefully cut out each flower andset aside.

Use the Big Shot™ and emboss a piece of PeachParfait and Whisper White cardstock with the Square Lattice TexturedImpressions™ Embossing Folder. Assemblethe layers, add the flowers and sentiment.

Finish off the card with the pearls and 5/8”Black Satin Ribbon bow.

Hi Stampers!

Well, according to our local weather report, itshould be “beginning to look a lot like Christmas” tonight and tomorrow as weare anticipating receiving 4” – 8” of snow here on the East Coast! What would be better to celebrate than a Christmas cardcreated for The Paper Player’s PP69 Sketch Challenge?

This week’s sketch was quite a challengesince all of the Design Team samples and other entries seemed to use the setsthat I thought of and they were so gorgeous! As I looked at the sketch, I thought, why not flip it on it's side, so that is what I decided to do..:-))

To create this card:

Using Stampin’ Write Markers in MoreMustard, Old Olive and Cajun Craze, color the bird image and stamp onto WhisperWhite cardstock. Cut out the bannershape and distress with the Distressing Tool. Layer onto Old Olive, cut the banner and distress as well.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Petals-A-PlentyTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White, addthe 5/8” Satin Ribbon double layer (for the panel area in the sketch behind thebanner).

Use the same markers to color the floralimage from the Gifts of Christmas set as well as the sentiment. Punch out layers for both and adhere to thecard. Add the pearls and satin bow tofinish off the card.

Having Fun with "Snow Much Fun"!

Two of the Workshop Projects- Gift Card Holder on the left

Hi Stampers!

Finally, I am able to post a few projects! :-)

I have been busy this past week withdesigning projects and preparing for a beginner's workshop focusing on a few simple cards/projects.

The hostess is a dear friend of mine thatloves all of the cute stamps that Stampin’ Up! has to offer along with the BigShot and the participants were all beginner stampers (including three teengirls- we had a great time and left with Dazzling Diamonds on our faces :-)).

Project #3

Since my style tends to be more vintage and shabby, I was struggling with "cute" and thought that the little guys in Snow Much Fun would be perfect!

After browsing Splitcoast Stamper's gallery and a few of my favorite weekly challenge blogs, I was able to be inspired late the night before the workshop (talk about procrastination:-)). Also, the colors were based on last week's The Paper Player's PP68 Challenge - since I took so long to determine the final projects, I could not finish them in time for the deadline on their challenge but wanted to share them with you :-)

NOTE- To punch out the snowman with the hat peekingout of the circle on the Gift Card Holder, stamp the image, color and then carefully cutout the hat along the top and down the sides only (to the rim). Gently fold the hat down towards the snowman,then punch out with the 1 ½” Circle Punch and fold the hat back in place- quickand easy!

All of these items were simple to make using the Big Shot and various embossing folders, die cuts, punches, watercolor pencils and of course, "bling"!
