Artistic Outpost- Harvest with Seed Packets and Grunge Elements

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing this Mixed Media card on the Artistic Outpost (AO) blog using the new AO Spring 2016 Release stamps, Harvest, Seed Packets Background and Grunge Elements.

I am linking this card to the Splitcoaststampers’ MIX1 “Yin Yang” Challenge- see details here and gallery here  (the very first Mix-Ability Challenge from January 2013- thankfully, there is no time limit with the SCS Challenges :-)).

I hope you have a chance to visit us at the Artistic Outpost blog as well as the Splitcoaststampers challenge gallery – fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®, stamp the sentiment from Harvest with Versamark™ ink onto the prepared cardstock and heat emboss with Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder.

Once the embossing powder has cooled, ink the Grunge Elements splatter stamp with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stamp over the sentiment.

Trim the sentiment panel, mount onto Basic Black cardstock, trim once more and set aside.

For the background panel, ink the Seed Packets Background stamp with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Crumb Cake cardstock.

Tear the edges by hand and distress the paper using a Sponge Dauber with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Mount the background panel onto a piece of distressed Basic Black cardstock and add the stenciling using a honeycomb stencil with Crackle Texture Paste.

Once the paste has dried, apply Tim Holtz® Distress Collage Crazing Medium over the background and set aside to dry.

Once the background has dried, add the 1 ¼” Black Grosgrain Ribbon on a diagonal and adhere the strips of Burlap Ribbon in the center (the glue will be hidden by the focal image).

Mount the entire panel onto the Whisper White card base and lightly sponge Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye Distress Ink around the edges to age the white card base.

Stamp the young farmer with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Crumb Cake cardstock and use the Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen Marker to add highlights to the image.

Trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and apply Tim Holtz® Distress Collage Crazing Medium over the entire image.

To finish off the card, mount the focal image panel along with the sentiment using dimensional foam.

Stamp Sets: Harvest, Seed Packets Background, Grunge Elements (Artistic Outpost)

Ink/Mediums: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen Marker, Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo and Tea Dye Distress Ink; , Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Collage Crazing Medium, Crackle Texture Paste

Paper: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Whisper White

Accessories: Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, 1 ¼” Black Grosgrain Ribbon, strands from 1 ¼” Burlap Ribbon, Honeycomb Stencil

Winnie's Garden- Bloom Where You Are Planted

 Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a fabulous week so far!!   Today it is my turn to share on the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps blog and I created a card using the Grunge Elements along with the brand new stamp set, Winnie’s Garden.

I used the Smakin’ Acetate Technique (again, I am addicted to this “oldie” but “goodie” technique) and the Splitcoaststampers’ CC580 Color Challenge along with the MIX-Ability MIX64 "April Showers" and the Mojo Monday #445 "Square or Round"  Sketch Challenge .

To create the background with the Smakin’ Acetate technique, use a clear acetate envelope (like the ones used for the packaging of the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamp Sets) and cut one side of the envelope and the bottom so that the envelope would open like a “book”.

Open up the envelope and gently pat the Island Indigo Classic Ink pad onto the acetate (just a few small taps of the corner will do for this card), spritz the ink with just a bit of water, close the envelope over the ink, smoosh the ink with your fingers through the acetate, re-open the envelope, insert the piece of Whisper White cardstock and press into the ink (lift up and continue to press until you have the desired effect).

Whew!! Sounds like a lot of steps but really it is quick and I love how each background turns out a bit different.

To finish the rest of the card:

Once the background is finished, ink the Grunge Elements splatter stamp with Island Indigo Classic Ink to add a few additional splatters, trim the panel and mount onto Garden Green cardstock, trim again and mount onto Island Indigo cardstock.

Adhere the retired Island Indigo Designer Series Paper (DSP) to Garden Green and Island Indigo cardstock and mount onto the card front.

Ink the cute watering can image from Winnie’s Garden with Stampin’ Archival Black ink, heat it gently with the Heat Tool to set the ink and use an AquaPainter™ with ink from the Garden Green and Island Indigo Classic Ink pads to color the image.

I also added the gray with the retired Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blendabilities™ markers and colored the flowers with the Stampin’ Write Daffodil Delight Marker.

Additional color was added to the grass with the Garden Green Stampin’ Write marker and it is hard to see in the photo, but I added Clear Wink of Stella® to the water.

Trim the stamped image panel, mount onto Garden Green cardstock and again onto Island Indigo cardstock.

Ink the Grunge Elements splatter stamp with Island Indigo Classic Ink and add to the corners of the focal image (this was an afterthought for me so you may want to do this before layering).

Ink the sentiment from Winnie’s Garden with Stampin’ Archival Black ink  (OK, do not faint, but I cut it apart first so I could layer and use a circle punch :-)), punch out with the 1 ⅜” Circle Punch and mount onto a circle punched from Garden Green and Island Indigo cardstock (I punched out two additional circles from both Garden Green and Island Indigo cardstock, layering onto each other to create the frame behind the sentiment).

“Huff” onto the Grunge Elements splatter stamp to re-moisten the Island Indigo Classic Ink and stamp onto the sentiment.

Mount the entire background panel onto the Whisper White card base and add the watering can focal image along with the sentiment using dimensional foam.

Add a few Rhinestones under the sentiment and to the background to finish off the card.

Ink/Medium: Stampin’ Archival Black, Stampin’ Classic Ink- Garden Green, Island Indigo; Stampin’ Write Markers- Daffodil Delight, Garden Green; retired Stampin’ Blendabilities™- Light and Medium Smoky Slate, Clear Wink of Stella®

Paper: Whisper White, Garden Green, Island Indigo; retired Island Indigo DSP

Accessories: Acetate Envelope, Water Spritzer Bottle, AquaPainter™, 1 ⅜” Circle Punch, Rhinestones

Mixed Media Watercolor Wonder Roses

Hi Friends!!

This Mixed Media card was created using the Can You Case It #117 Color Challenge along with the Watercooler #65 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

This was a fairly simple card to make since the retired Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper (DSP) roses are the main focus and with a bit of fussy cutting, your images are ready to go!

If you have not visited the above galleries yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- great inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Die cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock using the My Favorite Things® (MFT) Blueprints 13 Stitched Rectangle Die and repeatedly stamp the Notable Notions script stamp with Very Vanilla Craft Ink (it is hard to see this in the photo but it is there :-)).

Carefully cut the flowers from the retired Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper and place several roses onto the die cut rectangle (excluding the large one on the left and the central one on the right- set aside for mounting later).

Cover all of the flowers (including the two set aside) along with the background panel with Tim Holtz® Distress Crazing Collage Medium, allow the medium to dry and mount the panel onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Another view- a bit easier to see the background stamp
and popped up flowers in the center :-)
Adhere a piece of 1” Black Satin Ribbon along with the cream colored Crochet Lace to the lower part of the panel, and mount the entire panel onto the Basic Black card base.

Add additional shadows to all of the petals on the roses (including the two set aside) with the retired Stampin’ Write Crisp Cantaloupe Marker and mount the two individual roses with dimensional foam.

Ink the sentiment from the retired Absolutely Fabulous set with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Cut the sentiment out with the MFT Blueprints 16 Label Die and mount onto the ribbon with dimensional foam.

Add a few Pearls to the upper left hand and lower right hand corners to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Absolutely Fabulous, Notable Notions (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, retired Craft Very Vanilla; retired Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin’ Write Marker; Tim Holtz® Distress Collage Crazing Medium

Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, retired Watercolor Wonder DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Blueprints 16 & 20 Dies, 1” Black Satin Ribbon, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Psalm 31:24 Be Strong and Take Heart

Hi Again Friends!!

Here is my second card I designed using The Card Concept Challenge #52 Inspiration  Photo (please see my first card in this post).

Again, I was inspired by the beautiful purples in the lilacs for my Mixed Media card (lilacs were my Mother’s favorite along with irises).

I hope will find the time to visit us at The Card Concept as well as the other challenge sites- wonderful inspiration from all!!

To create this card:

Using a foam brush, apply Gesso® over a piece of cardstock (I used a piece of Designer Series Paper that I did not like the pattern- one way to use up “older” paper).
Once the Gesso® dried, apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains to a craft mat (I used Broken China, Frayed Denim and Mowed Lawn), lay the panel into the ink, lift up and allow the ink to spread, spritz with water to dilute a bit and continue to tilt and spread the ink.

Dry the ink with a Heat Tool, apply more ink as desired along with Gelatos® (I used Aqua Dolce and Cotton Candy- spritzing the Gelatos® with water and allowing the color to run across the panel).
Some of the color was a bit bright for me so I added Ranger® Tim Holtz® Picket Fence Distress Stain to tone down some of the brightness.

Once the panel was thoroughly dry, de-static with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the retired Ex Libris background stamp with Versamark® Ink, stamp onto the prepared panel, apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Repeat the above embossing steps with the sentiment from the Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Collection 3 using Versamark® Ink, then add Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink followed by Clear Embossing Powder.

Trim the background panel, mount onto the Old Olive card base and sponge additional Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink over the embossing in a few areas (wiping off the excess with a lightly dampened paper towel).

Cut the roses from Elegant Eggplant cardstock with the Big Shot™ and the My Favorite Things® (MFT) Royal Rose and Mini Rose Die, crimp the die cuts with the Crimper Tool before rolling into the flower shape and add Gesso® to the flower petals.

Punch the leaves from Old Olive cardstock with the Martha Stewart® (MS) Leaf Punch, add the roses to the leaves and apply Gesso® to the leaves as well.

Mount the roses and leaves onto the card front (I like to use Hot Glue for this step) and add the Pearls to the corners.

Ink the butterflies from Papillon Potpourri with Versamark™ Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Punch the butterflies out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and color with the So Saffron Stampin’ Write Marker.

Add to the card front along with Pearls for the bodies to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Papillon Potpourri, retired Ex Libris (SU!), Scripture Collection 3 (ODBD)

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™, Elegant Eggplant; Stampin’ Write Marker- So Saffron; added Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains-Broken China, Faded Denim, Mowed Lawn, Picket Fence; Gelatos®- Aqua Dolce, Cotton Candy

Paper: Whisper White, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, misc piece of DSP (for Gesso® panel)

Accessories: Gesso®, Big Shot™, MFT Royal Rose and Mini Royal Rose Dies, Elegant Butterfly Punch (SU!), MS Leaf Punch, Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® Clear, White and Black Embossing Powder, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a wonderful day!!

I actually designed two cards for this inspiration photo challenge- I could not decide which one to use for the Design Team ....I will share the one featured for the Design Team in this post and will share the second one in a future post :-)

Just a reminder that The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

I hope you have a chance to visit us at The Card Concept and check out the rest of our Design Team samples as well as the Splitcoaststampers challenge sites- fabulous inspiration from all!!

To create this card:

Using a clear envelope or protector sheet, cut open one side and the bottom to create a “book”, pat the Bermuda Bay and Old Olive Classic Ink pad onto the acetate, spritz with water, close the envelope and “smoosh the ink”, open the envelope and lay a piece of Whisper White cardstock into the ink, lift and continue to press into the ink until you are pleased with the background.

De-static the panel with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the branch image from Choose Happiness with Versamark™ Ink, stamp onto the panel, re-ink and stamp two additional times, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Once the embossing cools, color the leaves with the Stampin’ Write Old Olive Marker.

De-static the background panel again with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the Verse sentiment from the Scripture Collection 9 (Our Daily Bread Designs) with Versamark™ Ink, align and stamp onto the panel, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Using a paint brush with diluted Black Gesso® to add splatters.

Trim the background panel and mount onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the flower image from Choose Happiness and stamp three of the images onto the panel, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Once the embossed flowers are cooled, use an AquaPainter™ with Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink to color the flowers and add the shadows with the Elegant Eggplant Stampin’ Write Marker.

Fussy cut the flowers, add white highlights to the center with the Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen Marker and mount onto the card front to finish off the card.

SUO147 Bravo! You Did It- Congratulations

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the SUO147 “Congratulations” Challenge and I decided to create another card for the Splitcoaststampers’ April 2016 Cards for A Cause (see details here about this card drive).

I hope you will have a chance to check out my sister Design Team member samples at the SU-Only Challenge site as well as the fantastic Design Team samples and entries at the other galleries- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

The background was designed using the Smakin' Acetate Technique using a page protector or clear envelope (acetate)- open one side and the bottom to create a “book”, press the Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon Classic Ink pads onto the right hand side (I use the ink pads directly versus the markers as in the tutorial),  spritz with water, close the envelope and “smoosh” the ink a bit with your finger, reopen the envelope and insert a piece of Whisper White cardstock onto each side (you will receive two background panels).

Trim the one panel, stamp the coral image from By The Tide with Blackberry Classic Ink, de-static the panel, ink the “Bravo!” sentiment with Versamark™ ink, re-ink immediately with Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink, stamp onto the panel, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Allow the embossed panel to cool, ink the “Bravo!” sentiment with Versamark™ ink, offset from the original stamped sentiment a bit to the left, stamp onto the panel, apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.
Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
Ink the Chalk Lines border stamp using Blackberry Bliss and stamp onto the left hand side of the remaining panel (created in step 1 with the  Smakin’ Acetate technique).
Ink the splatter stamp from Timeless Textures with Lost Lagoon Classic Ink and add a bit of distressing to the background as well as the embossed sentiment focal image panel.

Trim the background panel, decide where you would like to place the focal image panel and stamp the “you did it” stamp with Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink.

Mount the trimmed background panel onto the Blackberry Bliss card base.

Ink the sea turtle image with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the image with and AquaPainter™ and ink from the Sahara Sand and Lost Lagoon Classic Ink Pads.

Use the Sahara Sand and Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Write Markers to add shadows and additional color, fussy-cut the image and apply Clear Wink of Stella® over the turtle.

Mount the focal image panel along with the sea turtle using dimensional foam to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  From Land to Sea, By The Tide, Bravo, Chalk Lines, Timeless Textures

Ink:  Versamark™, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand; Stampin’ Write Markers- Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand ; Clear Wink of Stella®

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss

Card for A Cause, Sketch and Colour Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

I am continuing to create cards for the Splitcoaststampers April 2016 MISSION- Cards for A Cause- this month, encouragement cards are being sent to the Miami VA Medical Center for the Homeless Veterans Program (see details here).

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am so thankful to have a chance to possibly give a little back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country and to think that they are now homeless and now in need.....I hope these cards that are donated will bring a bit of hope to the recipients and, there is still time, if you would like to send cards to this cause (again, please see details here- if you do not have a Splitcoaststampers’ sign-on, it is free to sign up).

Hopefully you will have a chance to visit the above mentioned challenge sites- so many wonderful Design Teams samples and entries!

To create this card:

Ink the train image from Traveler with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Mount the panel onto Sahara Sand cardstock, trim and mount onto Night of Navy cardstock and distress with the retired Distressing Tool.

Ink the sentiment from the retired set, Absolutely Fabulous with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Create the banner points on the end with the Hexagon Punch (soon to be retired), mount onto Night of Navy cardstock, trim and punch the banner points again with the Hexagon Punch and add texture with Sahara Sand Classic Ink and the Timeless Textures stamp.

Create the background for the next layer using the suitcase, journal and camera from Traveler, stamp onto a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock with Night of Navy Classic Ink (masking the images as you stamp onto the panel).
