TCC218 He Stilled The Storm

Hi Friends!

It’s time for our June #218 Summer Days Challenge at The Card Concept!

This will be our last challenge before our summer break, and we have decided to extend the gallery link date to August 25th.  This way you have all summer long to create and link up to the gallery :-)

I was inspired by the shades of blue as well as the summer theme to create a Clean and Layered Mixed Media card.  We are looking forward to seeing what will inspire your card.

I decided to pull out a retired STAMPlorations stamp set, True North for this card.  I have been trying to ink up some of my older stamps and thought that this set would be perfect for a summer card.  I also incorporated older designer paper from Stampin’ Up along with retired silver cord.

If you follow my blog, you know that I enjoy playing along with other online challenges and will be linking this card to the Classic Design May/June Anything Goes- opt Masculine Challenge.

I used the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch #SC341 for the layout- this is another one of my personal goals- to create a card for each of the other 1,000 sketches at Splitcoaststampers.

To create this card:-

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the lighthouse image with Versafine Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, tap Distress Oxide inks onto a silicone mat, spritz with water and add with a water brush to the sky area.

Continue to add inks and color the lighthouse/sky/water with distress oxide and water-based markers until you are satisfied with the coloring.

Once everything has dried, heat emboss the verse sentiment using the same steps as the lighthouse above.

Trim the lighthouse panel, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Add the reflection on the water with permanent black ink.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock with a lumber embossing folder, trim and mount onto a piece of black cardstock.

Adhere the entire background panel onto a white card base.

Add the black horizontal panel (per the sketch).

Layer the turquoise striped designer paper onto black cardstock and add to the card front.

To finish off the card, loop the silver metallic cord and mount onto the card front.

Add the main lighthouse panel with dimensional foam and use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the water.

I hope you have had a chance to stop by The Card Concept to see how the rest of the Design Team were inspired as well as check out the other challenge gallery entries! Fabulous work from everyone!

Hi Friends!

It’s time for our May #217 Patriotic Décor Challenge at The Card Concept!

To create this card:-

Heat emboss the USA flag map image onto white cardstock using clear embossing powder and color with colored pencils/water-based markers.

“Antique” with distress oxide ink and a splatter stamp before die cutting with the coordinating die.

Cut the two pieces of designer paper, distress the edges and adhere to a piece of navy cardstock.

Add the strip of crochet lace and layer the striped grosgrain along with the navy grosgrain ribbon.

Loop the metallic gold twine under the USA flag map image and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

TCC215 Floral Wreath

Hi Friends!

It’s time for our March #215 “Floral Heart” Challenge at The Card Concept!

I was inspired by the florals in our photo and the clean white background for my Clean and Layered card.

I bought the Be Bold Blooms dies (Spellbinders) a few months ago and have not had a chance to use them yet. (I thought that this challenge would be a perfect chance).

This card was so simple to create, just die cut the flowers and leaves from colored cardstock, layer onto a white background and add a heat embossed sentiment.

That’s it, simple and flat for mailing!

For those of you who follow my blog, you know that I do enjoy playing along with other online challenges and will be linking this card to The Flower Challenge #100 Add Circles (I thought my wreath would be a great circle :-)).

I hope you have stopped by The Card Concept to see how the rest of the Design Team were inspired as well as check out The Flower Challenge gallery to see their gorgeous DT and gallery entries!

TCC211 Thankful Blessings

Hi Friends!

It’s time for our #211 {Thankful Blessings} Challenge at The Card Concept!

This time of year, we tend to reflect on our blessings and I am truly blessed! While it has been over two years since my husband passed away and I miss him every day, I am so thankful that we had almost 40 years together and that he is with the Lord!  I know one day we will be reunited for all eternity.  Thank you, Lord Jesus for our salvation through faith in You and the peace that surpasses all understanding.

I was inspired by the Thankful Blessings theme as well as the leaves and autumn items in our inspiration ohot for my Clean and Layered/Mixed Media card.

I decided to pull out the Give Thanks Bundle stamp/die set along with designer papertwine and rhinestones (all from Stamp Simply).

I think the leaf image and verse sentiments in this bundle are perfect for this time of year!

I am also participating with the Addicted to Stamps and More #481 Make Your Mark Challenge and the Simon Says Monday “Thankful/Thanksgiving” Challenge.

I hope you will take a moment to visit our challenge blog to see how the rest of the Design Team were inspired as well as check out the other challenge galleries to see their fabulous creations!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of the Craft Consortium Beach Hut 6x6 paper with an embossing powder tool, ink the verse sentiment from Give Thanks with Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamp onto the prepared paper, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, trim the panel to approx. 3 ¾” x x 5 ¼” , mount onto white cardstock (approx. 4” x 5 ⅜”).

De-static another piece of white cardstock (as above to prep for embossing), ink the leaf image from Give Thanks with Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamp onto the prepared paper, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Repeat the process above for the second leaf.

Watercolor the leaves with distress oxide inks and water-based markers (colors listed below).

Die cut the leaves with the coordinating die from the Give Thanks Bundle (I also die cut two additional leaves from plain white cardstock to layer behind the embossed/colored images).

Add the orange twine, wrapping the ends behind the panel.

Add the leaves to the card front- the first one directly onto the card front panel and the second one with dimensional foam.

Adhere the card front panel to a white card base.

Finish off the card with the twine bow and bronze rhinestones.

TCC204 Be Still and Know

Hi Friends!

Welcome to our #204 {Winter Warmth} Challenge at the The Card Concept!

I was inspired by this beautiful rug- the moose, the nature, colors and textures for my Mixed Media card.

I decided to pull out an older retired Stampin’ Up! set, Walking in the Wild and paired it with a verse sentiment from Words of Encouragement (available at Stamp Simply).

We are looking forward to seeing what inspires your card! Will it be the overall theme, the colors, items in the photo/textures or something else?

If you have not already visited us at The Card Concept, I hope you will find the time to do so.  Such wonderful inspiration from the rest of my DT sisters!

One of my goals (that has been on the back burner for a while, lol!) is to create a card for each of the 990+ sketches from Splitcoaststampers (I used the SC992 sketch for the layout- I did modify a bit with the sentiment :-)).

I also like to participate with online challenges and will be linking this card to the Simon Says Monday “Tie It Up” Challenge, Addicted to Stamps and More #461 Make Your Mark Challenge and the Can You Handle the Pressure Feb 2024 “Anything Goes with an optional twist of Reds and/or Pinks” Challenge.

To create this card:

De-static two pieces of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the moose image and verse sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamp onto the prepared panels, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the verse sentiment with a stitched circle die and mount onto a circle of espresso cardstock (die cut with a slightly larger circle die).

Water-color the moose with water-based markers.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink for the sky behind the moose image and also on the verse sentiment.

Die cut the moose image with a stitched square die.

Mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Emboss a piece of kraft cardstock with the retired Boho Chic Embossing Folder (retired Stampin’ Up!).

Trim and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock.

Create the banners from retired Stampin’ Up! designer paper (I hand cut the banner ends).  Distress the ends before adhering the three banners together.

Wrap the dark hemp twine around the top of the banners before adhering to the card front.

Adhere the moose image along with the sentiment with dimensional foam.

Add the dark hemp twine bow and add a button to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Words of Encouragement  (Stamp Simply), Walk in the Wild (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Inks/Mediums: Versafine Onyx Black,  Water-based Markers- Arteza and Stampin’ Up! browns, greens; Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide

Cardstock/Paper: White, Early Espresso; retired Stampin’ Up! Designer Papers

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr. , My Favorite Things- Stitched Circle and Stitched Square STAX, Sizzix Circle Dies, retired Boho Chic Embossing Folder (Stampin’ Up!), Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Polished Dark Brown Hemp Twine, Button

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by! I hope you are inspired to create a card and join us for our #204 {Winter Warmth} Challenge at The Card Concept!  The deadline to play along is Monday, March 11th at noon EDT.

TCC203 Happy Anniversary

Hi Friends!

Welcome to our #203 {NewYear Love} Challenge at the The Card Concept!

Look at our sweet inspiration photo!  I love the crisp, clean layers of the items on the tiered tray as well as the love theme and was inspired to create a Clean and Layered Mixed Media card.

I paired two different stamp sets with a scrap piece of designer paper (all from Stamp Simply) and a mixed media background using distress ink.

FYI- I thought that the background technique used to be called "Smakin' Acetate" (the tutorial at Splitcoaststampers has that technique using markers)  but I found a similar tutorial here at Splitcoaststampers using distress inks called "Wrinkle Free Distress"

We are looking forward to seeing what inspires your card! Will it be the overall theme, the colors, items in the photo/textures or something else?

If you have not already visited us at The Card Concept, I hope you will find the time to do so.  Gorgeous inspiration from the rest of my DT sisters!

This was a fairly quick and fun card to create:

Press Candied Apple Distress Ink onto a piece of acetate, spritz with water, then gently press a piece of white cardstock into the ink, repeating until you are pleased with the background.

Use a heat tool to dry the inked panel.

Once the panel has dried, de-static the lower right hand area with an embossing powder tool, ink the verse sentiment from the Love stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the panel to 4” x 5 ¼” and mount onto a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of black cardstock and mount onto a white card base.

Trim a piece of the Echo Park Love Notes 6x6 paper pad to 2” x 4” and mount onto a piece of black cardstock (trimming close to the edge).

Mount the layered designer series panel directly to the card front.

Die cut a piece of red cardstock with the largest heart die from the Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts Die.

De-static the die cut heart, stamp and emboss the sentiments from Happy Day Iris onto the heart and heat set with clear embossing powder.

Add the heart to the card front with dimensional foam.

Add a few pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Happy Day Iris, Love  (Stamp Simply)

Inks/Mediums: Versafine Onyx Black,  Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink

Cardstock/Paper: White, Black, Red; Echo Park Love Notes 6x6 Paper Pad

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr., Stamp Simply Dies- Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts, Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Acetate, Kaisercraft Self-Adhesive Round Pearls- Pearl

I enjoy playing along with online challenges and will be linking this card to the Word Art Wednesday #629-#630 Anything Goes Challenge.  If you have time,  check out their gallery, gorgeous inspiration from their Design Team as well as all of the participants!

The Card Concept #199 Country Style

Hi Friends!

Welcome back to The Card Concept! We are thrilled to be back with our inspiration challenges and this year, we are changing things up a bit!

We are changing the challenge to monthly (vs bi-weekly) so that more time is allowed for you to play along!

Our first monthly challenge is our #199 {Country Style} Challenge!

What will inspire your card?  Will it be the overall theme, the actual elements (rooster, barn, ribbons, flowers, etc.), the colors, textures or something else?

I love the chicken, barn, flowers, gingham and all of the elements, but was inspired by the sunflowers for my Shabby and Vintage Mixed Media card!  I have been hoarding this Graphic 45 French Country paper for years and thought it would work great for this challenge!

If you have not already visited us at The Card Concept, I hope you will find the time to do so.  Gorgeous inspiration from the rest of my DT sisters!

This was a very easy card to create:

Trim the background paper to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, distress the edges and adhere to a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” black card front.

Wrap the gold ribbon across the card and adhere the ends behind the card front.

Adhere the panel to a white card base.

Add the strips of lace over the ribbon (FYI- this was an after thought for me, I had a snall scrap of this lace left over so I tucked it in under the mounted floral panel).  I do not like to throw anything away, lol!

Trim the sunflower cut-a-apart from the French Country paper pack, de-static the lower right hand corner with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment from Fear Not with Versamark ink, apply gold embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, mount onto white cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto black cardstock.

Adhere to the card front with dimensional foam and add a few pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Fear Not (Stamp Simply)

Inks/Mediums: Versamark

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Graphic 45 French Country

Accessories/Tools: Embossing Powder Tool, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Lace and Gold Ribbon (both from my stash), Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit! I hope you are inspired to create a card and join us for our #199 {Country Style} Challenge at The Card Concept!
