TCC165 Peace On Earth

Hi Friends!

Welcome to The Card Concept #165 Peace on Earth Challenge!  Sorry I am a bit late with my card this week, we are still in the middle of renovations and spackling/painting walls has become my full-time job, lol!

For those of you who are not familiar with The Card Concept Challenge, we are a bi-weekly challenge that uses an inspiration photo for you to create a card.

We hope you can join us for our challenge.  We are flexible- you can choose one card-making style or a combination of styles, the choice is yours, plus our Design Team has created cards to help give you even more inspiration!

For this challenge, I was inspired by the “Peace on Earth” theme as well as the silver and gold colors to create a simple Classy and Elegant style card! I am so far behind on my Christmas cards and hope to make multiples of this card this week!

Again, in an effort to use my existing stamps, I pulled out a few retired Stampin’ Up! sets- Dove of Peace and the simple stamp, Magical Season.

I am also participating with the Addicted to Stamps and More #419 “Any Occasion” Challenge, the Double Trouble #98 “Something, Anything, Everything” Challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday “Happy Holidays/Christmas” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit The Card Concept, or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the Dove of Peace image with Versamark™ ink onto the prepared panel, apply Ultra Fine Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once cooled, fussy-cut the dove image and set aside.

Emboss another piece of white cardstock with the retired Finial Press (SU!) embossing folder (I had this panel already embossed in my stash).

Add a strip of silver ribbon, wrapping the ends behind the panel.  Add another strip of gold ribbon, again wrapping the ends behind the panel (both of these ribbons were in my stash, so thankful to use just a bit of that stash).

Adhere the panel onto a white card base.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the Magical Season image with Versamark™ ink onto the prepared panel, apply Ultra Fine Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once cooled, die cut and emboss the sentiment image with the intricate rectangle die.

Mount the dove image along with the sentiment onto the card front with dimensional foam to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Dove of Peace, Magical Season (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums:  Versamark™

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr.™,  Finial Press Embossing Folder (retired Stampin’ Up!), Embossing Powder Tool, Ultra Fine Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle Dies

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you have been inspired to join us at The Card Concept! The challenge gallery will be open until 12 noon EST Monday, December 13th  - we are looking forward to seeing your artwork in our gallery!

SC528 Sending Love & Sympathy

Hi Again Stampers!!

Here is another quick sympathy card that I created from scraps this past weekend using the Splitcoaststampers’ SC528 Sketch Challenge (see details here and thegallery here).

Again, if you have not already done so, I hope you will find the time to visit the above site to check out the wonderful Design Team samples as well as the wonderful gallery!

To create this card:

I already had the Pool Party background panel embossed with the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder as well as the focal image stamped and colored from a previous project.

Mount the focal image onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Island Indigo cardstock.

Ink the retired Notable Notions script stamp using Island Indigo Classic Ink and stamp repeatedly on a 2 ¼” square of Pool Party cardstock, mount onto a piece of Island Indigo cardstock, trim and mount on an angle behind the layered focal image.

Stamp the sentiment using Island Indigo Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto Island Indigo cardstock, create the “photo” corners  with a  1” Square Punch and mount the corners to the panel.

*** To create the "photo" corners, punch the corner edge of the punch on the corner of the cardstock, toss the punched piece, move the punch up a bit and punch again- this will give you the square "photo" corner, angle the edges with your scissors and you are done :-) ***

Adhere the layered sentiment to the embossed Pool Party background panel, mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and add the panel of retired World Spectacular Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the paper “lace” border.

Mount the entire panel to the Island Indigo card base and add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® along with the Pearls to the photo corners to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Love & Sympathy, Notable Notions, Nature’s Wonders

Ink:  Island Indigo, Stampin’ Write Markers- Pool Party, Island Indigo, Sahara Sand

Paper: Whisper White, Island Indigo, Pool Party; retired World Spectacular DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder,  Doily Border Die (SNSS), 1” Square Punch, Pearls

Thanks again for visiting- have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

TCC34 Mixed Media- Happy Mother's Day :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I decided to create a card with a Mixed Media background using Gelatos® inspired by the colors in the photo, and of course, add flowers (so thankful Spring is here and Summer is on the way!) :-)

I decided to combine our Card Concept challenge with the Splitcoaststampers’ SC522 Sketch Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

So I hope you have time to gather your supplies together and come join in on the fun!!

To create this card:

Apply a layer of Gesso® to a piece of Whisper White cardstock and allow to dry (I prefer to use my Heat Tool to speed up the process).

On your craft mat, apply Faber-Castell Gelatos®, apply water and add additional Gelatos® until the desired color is achieved.

Use a damp paper towel along with the Balzar Designs® Mini Punchenella Stencil to remove a bit of the Gelatos®.

Ink the background stamp, Dictionary using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and randomly stamp across the panel, distress the edges using the Distressing Tool and use a Sponge Dauber to apply Calypso Coral Classic Ink.

Mount the panel to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, distress the edges using the Distressing Tool and adhere to the Basic Gray card base.

Stamp the flowers from Flower Shop using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, use an AquaPainter™ with Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Ink to add color to the petals, with a Smoky Slate Stampin' Write marker to darken the flower centers and fussy-cut the images out.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of retired Baja Breeze cardstock (ink the interior of the folder with Midnight Muse Classic Ink before inserting the paper).

Cut the panel using the My Favorite Things (MFT) Stitched Rectangle Die and mount onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

Add the crochet lace trim along with the ½” Baja Breeze Seam Binding  Ribbon to the top and bottom of the panel, mount onto the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and adhere the flowers.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, punch  out using the Word Window Punch and mount to the card front.

Use the Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen marker to add highlights to the flower centers and add the Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Flower Shop, Dictionary, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Stāz-On Jet Black, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Midnight Muse; Faber-Castell® Gelatos®- Guava, Metallic Melon, Cotton Candy, Metallic Iced Coffee, Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen marker

Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, Whisper White, retired Baja Breeze

Accessories: Gesso®, Balzar Designs® Mini Punchenella Stencil, Big Shot™, retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Distressing Tool, Word Window Punch, Pearls, retired 1/2" Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon, crochet lace from my stash

Sunflower Fun- Two More Cards with the New Blendabilities

Hi Stampers!

Here are the last two cards that I created last night using the PP195 Paper Players Color Challenge (I only submitted this card to the challenge but since I had the colors out and find it difficult to combine green with any orange tone colors, decided to keep creating and working on this color combination).

Again, for the six cards (see the other four in the last four posts), I used My Digital Studio and had printed the images out onto Whisper White cardstock, colored them all at one time and then created the cards.

I decided to use the new Stampin’ Blendabilities™ for the coloring along with traditional card making techniques for the rest of the cards…

To create these cards:

Open a blank document in My Digital Studio (MDS), position the Sunflower background image (reduced a bit) along with the sentiment from Thanks for Caring (for the next card),  print onto an 8 ½ x 11” piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Color the flower using the Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities™ Collection markers and use the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker for the center.

Carefully “fussy-cut” out the Sunflower image and cut the image in half.

For the first card, use the Big Shot to emboss a piece of So Saffron cardstock using the Pretty Prints Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.  Add the Sunflower and leave the edges of a few of the flower petals free from adhesive and curl with your fingers a bit.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and lightly sand with the Sanding Block.  Add the panel to a layer of Early Espresso cardstock and mount onto the Pear Pizzazz card base.  Add the Pear Pizzazz DSP horizontal panel (also mounted onto Early Espresso cardstock).

Adhere the Sunflower panel to the card front and add the sentiment (stamped from the retiring Hostess set, Express Yourself using Early Espresso Classic Ink).

Add the Pearls to the card front to finish off the card.

For the second card:

Add the Sunflower image to a piece of Old Olive DSP and mount onto Early Espresso cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of So Saffron DSP (the DSP I used was from a previous Hostess set years ago) …add to the Early Espresso card base and adhere the Calypso Coral piece from Epic Day This and That DSP at the bottom.

Add the Sunflower panel and adhere a piece of 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon to cover the seam.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Chalk Talk Framelits™ to cut out the sentiment and adhere onto another piece cut from Early Espresso cardstock (from the same framelit™, cut in half).  Using the Background Builders, stamp So Saffron Classic Ink over the sentiment using the script border stamp.  Add the Antique Brads and mount onto the card front.

Add the Pearls to corners and sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Sunflower, Thanks for Caring (both MDS versions), Express Yourself (2013-2014 Hostess set), Background Builders

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Blendabilities™ - Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Collections; Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker

Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Designer Series Paper- Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Epic Day This and That, retired Hostess Level I Pack (So Saffron)

Accessories: Big Shot™,  Pretty Print, retired Vintage Wallpaper and retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Sanding Block, Chalk Talk Framelits™, Hexagon Punch, Antique Brads, Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by- now off to do some housework (lol)!  I hope all of you have a wonderful and fun weekend- God Bless!!

Praying for You- Two Challenges in One!

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to share the final card that I created yesterday using the CCMC300 Create withConnie and Mary Color Challenge along with the Pals Paper Arts PPA201 SketchChallenge.

If you have not already visited their sites, I hope that you would have the time to do so- terrific Design Teams and examples in the gallery!!

To create this card:

Ink the floral stamp from Stippled Blossoms using Basic Gray Classic Ink and stamp repeatedly onto Whisper White cardstock.  Use a Sponge Dauber with Calypso Coral Classic Ink to sponge color onto the flowers and Basic Gray around the edges.  Mount onto Basic Black cardstock and sponge additional Basic Gray Classic Ink around the edges.

Ink the En Francais background stamp using Calypso Coral Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Crumb Cake Designer Series Paper (DSP).
Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Final Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the piece of DSP and also emboss a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

Lightly sand the embossed DSP to expose the white core, use a Sponge Dauber to apply Calypso Coral Classic Ink and Basic Gray to highlight the embossed images and mount both pieces onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.    Sponge additional Basic Gray Classic Ink around the edges and center, mount again onto Calypso Coral cardstock and adhere to the Basic Gray card base (applying additional Basic Gray Classic Ink to all edges).

Sponge additional Basic Gray Classic ink onto the embossed Basic Gray layer and add to the card front per the sketch.

Add the layers at the top and bottom of the panel (created from the Decorative Label punch cut into half) and sponge additional Basic Gray Classic Ink to darken.

Using a sentiment printed from My Digital Studio (MDS), sponge Calypso Coral Classic Ink and Basic Gray Classic Ink and punch out using the Large Oval Punch. Punch two additional ovals using the Large Oval Punch from Basic Gray cardstock, layer to create a frame for the sentiment and add to the focal image panel.  Mount the focal panel onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp three of the butterflies from Papillon Potpourri onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out the images using the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Sponge Calypso Coral Classic Ink onto the butterflies and add to the card front.

Add Pearls to the centers of the butterflies as well as the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Papillon Potpourri, Stippled Blossoms , En Francais, Thoughts and Prayers

Ink: Calypso Coral, Basic Gray

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Sponge Daubers, Punches- Decorative Label, Large Oval, Elegant Butterfly; Pearls

Chickadee Christmas Blessings- Two Challenges In One!

Hi Stampers!

While I had the colors out from this week’s DD77 Dynamic Duos colors, I decided to create another card incorporating the DD77 colors  along with the Wildlife theme from The Paper Players PP170 Challenge

If you have not had the chance to stop by to visit us at Dynamic Duos- it is not too late to play along with us using the DD77 colors and I also hope you will find the time to drop in on The Paper Players- they have a fabulous Design Team and many other entries as well!!

To create this card:

I had previously printed a few images from My Digital Studio onto Whisper White cardstock, so I pulled out the chickadee image from Beautiful Season.  Use Stampin’ Write markers to color the image- Bermuda Bay for the leaves, Real Red for the berries and Sahara Sand for a few shadows.  Add highlights to the berries and holly leaves using the Chalk Marker.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Deco Labels Framelits™ to cut out the image and lightly sponge with Crumb Cake Classic Ink to “antique” the paper a bit.

Punch out a 2 ½” XL Circle from Basic Black cardstock, cut in half and add to the back of the Deco Label frame.

Emboss a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock using the Big Shot™ with the retired Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and a piece of Real Red using the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Using a Sponge Dauber, sponge Crumb Cake Classic Ink onto both to “antique” and highlight the raised areas.

Mount the Real Red layer onto Basic Black cardstock (or just use strips of Basic Black cardstock on the ends from your scraps), add to the Bermuda Bay layer and adhere the entire panel onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Trim and mount onto another layer of Real Red cardstock and mount the entire panel onto the Whisper White card base.

Adhere the chickadee focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Add the 5/8” Real Red Satin Triple Ribbon bow at the top using Mini Glue Dots.

The sentiment was another pre-printed digital image from the More Merry Messages stamp brush set (printed onto Whisper White cardstock) and the edges were rounded with the 1 ¾” Circle Punch.  Adhere to a layer of Basic Black cardstock, round the edges to match with the 1 ¾” Circle Punch.

Sponge a bit of Crumb Cake Classic Ink over the sentiment to age the paper and add to the card front layering over the focal image.
Add the snowflake (from the Northern Frost Decorative Strip) and Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: A Beautiful Season, More Merry Messages (MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Sahara Sand, Chalk Marker

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Real Red

Accessories: Big Shot™, Deco Labels Framelits™, Sponge Daubers, 2 1/2” XL Circle Punch, 1 ¾” Circle Punch, Pearls, retired Vintage Wallpaper and Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, retired Northern Frost Decorative Strip, retired Real Red Satin Ribbon

With Heartfelt Sympathy- A Color and A Sketch Challenge

Hi Stampers!!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week so far!!  I wanted to create a card with this week’s DD60 Dynamic Duo Challenge Colors  along with the Fab Friday FabFri21 Sketch.

**** Disclaimer **** Oh no!  I just realized as I loaded this post and visited the Dynamic Duos site to retrieve  the URL for the color challenge that I mistakenly used Daffodil Delight instead of Summer Starfruit (hope I am not disqualified..all I wrote down in my notebook was Bright Yellow...)  Sorry Dynamic Duos!!!

I love doing challenges since it forces me to go “outside my box” so to speak and since I tend to gravitate towards a vintage style, these bright colors are definitely out of my normal comfort zone (plus I already had quite a few scraps previously embossed in these colors so this card was a quick one to create)!

I chose to flip the sketch over completely- from what I understand, it is the general rule of thumb that you are allowed to flip the sketch.   If not, sorry Fab Friday!!

If you have not visited either site yet, I encourage you to do so- you will be in for a treat!!

Initial Card- see below for 2nd version :-)
 To create this card:

Stamp the bird image using Early Espresso Classic Ink and color with the Stampin’ Write Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green markers.

Center the large Chalk Talk Framelit™ over the bird image and use the Big Shot™ to cut the tag.  Also cut another piece from Gumball Green Core’dinations cardstock and layer behind the bird image.

Add the embossed flag (I used a previously embossed piece of the Gumball Green Core’dinations paper and sanded with the Sanding Block).

Create the tag sentiment layer using Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper and the Gumball Green Core’dinations along with the sentiment mounted onto an oval frame (from the Large Oval punch).

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and adhere to a Gumball Green layer.  Add the center panel of Daffodil Delight/Whisper White and Gumball Green.

Layer the tag element along with the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the 3/8” Gumball Green Stitched Satin triple ribbon bow to finish off the card.

Quick, easy and I am thrilled that I could use up those scraps as well!

Stamp Sets:  Simply Sketched (hostess)

Ink: Early Espresso, Stampin’ Write Markers- Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green

Paper: Whisper White, Gumball Green Core’dinations, Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper

With Pearls Added :-)
Accessories:  Big Shot™, Woodgrain and retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Chalk Talk  Framelits™,  Punches- XL Tag, Large Tag, Large Oval, 1” Square (for banner points), 3/8” Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon . Pearls (optional- see below :-))

OK, I have to admit that after I took the initial photos of the card, I felt that it was missing something so I decided to add a few Pearls (can't resist the Pearls :-))!!

If you have the chance, let me know which one do you prefer..... Thanks again for stopping by- have a great Thursday!!

Happy Birthday Wishes- Three in One (well almost:-))

Hi Stampers!

This has been a busy week again, but I wanted to take a moment to relax in my craft room and create a card.  I decided to use what I thought were the Just Add Ink JAI154 Colors (accidentally used Summer Starfruit versus So Saffron, I hope this will be OK:-)) along with the FMS73 Freshly Made Sketch and the theme of Birthday from Shop Our Stash Challenge #89 ( a new challenge blog for me).

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit each site and check out their great Design Team projects as well as all of other Challenge entries- so much inspiration- just love our craft!!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock.  Using the Adorning Accents Edgelit™ cut the edge of the embossed Midnight Muse and a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Emboss the edge of the Whisper White with the matching Adorning Accents Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Ink the Sunflower background stamp with Midnight Muse Classic Ink and stamp onto Summer Starfruit cardstock.  Carefully cut out the Sunflower image and adhere to a piece of Whisper White cardstock that has been stamped with the En Francais background stamp using Midnight Muse Classic Ink.

Stamp a piece of Summer Starfruit with the En Francais stamp as well for the bottom portion of the card.

Stamp the Birthday Medallion from the retired set, Happiest Birthday Wishes and punch out with the 1 ¾” Scallop Circle Punch.  Add with SU! Dimensions , add the Summer Starfruit banner (crimped with The Paper Crimper), triple satin stitched bow and pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Sunflower (background), En Francais (background), Happiest Birthday Wishes (retired)

Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White

Ink:  Midnight Muse

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Adorning Accents and Finial Press (retired) Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Adorning Accents Edgelits™ Die, 1 ¾” Scallop Punch, 1” Square Punch (for banner), Crimper Tool, Pearls, 3/8" Midnight Muse Satin Stitched Ribbon

To create this card:

Stamp the floral butterfly image from Serene Silhouettes using Basic Gray Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Punch out using the 1 ¾” Circle Punch.
