Two Challenges- Two Cards!

Hi Stampers!

I created two cards using this week’s ColourQ Challenge #CQC67 (www.colourq.blogspot.com) along with the SSC186 sketch challenge at Stamping  with the Operators (http://www.stamping411.blogspot.com/).

At first the ColourQ colors this week seemed quite bright and bold but after working them, I really like the contrasts and it gave me an opportunity to use some of my retired cardstock.  I also enjoy the sketch challenges from Stamping411 so I made two cards- I already had the colors out and wanted to experiment:-).

To create the first card:

On Whisper White, stamp the floral image from Garden Greenhouse across in rows with Melon Mambo, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango and Taken with Teal Classic Ink.  Use the Big Shot with the Square Lattice EF and emboss the entire panel.  Layer this onto Taken with Teal and again onto another embossed panel of Whisper White.

Stamp the sentiment from Short & Sweet onto Whisper White, punch out with the Word Window Punch and layer onto Taken with Teal (punched with the Modern Label Punch).

Attach a scallop circle flower from Tangerine Tango and complete the card.    This card was a bit more difficult to film, but in real life is actually quite soft and subtle.

Stamp Sets:  Greenhouse Garden, Short & Sweet
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, Taken with Teal (retired)
Ink: Melon Mambo,Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss (retired), Taken with Teal (retired)
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Scallop Circle, Word Window and Modern Label Punches

To create the second card:

Use several stamps from the new set Button, Button and stamp in the colors from this week’s ColourQ Challenge.  Layer onto Taken with Teal and adhere to another piece of Whisper White.  Run the entire panel through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice EF (this is a form of Embedded Embossing).  Spray this panel with Frost White Shimmer Paint spray.

Punch a border along the Melon Mambo background with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch and stamp one of the button stamps used in Melon Mambo.  Adhere this to a piece of Taken with Teal and mount onto a Whisper White card base.

Stamp the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Taken with Teal onto a scrap piece of Whisper White and punch out using the 1 ¼” Circle Punch.  Layer this onto a 1 ¾” circle punched from Taken with Teal.  Adhere a 5/8” White Satin Ribbon bow and Kiwi Kiss button (retired).

Stamp Sets:  Button, Button, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Taken with Teal
Ink: Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss (retired), Taken with Teal (retired)
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, 1 ¼ “,  1 ¾” Circle and Pinking Hearts Border Punches, 5/8” White Satin Ribbon, Kiwi Kiss Button (retired)

Thanks again for stopping by- I so love to read your comments and hope all of you have a blessed week!  You have truly blessed mine!

CQC63 Thinking of You

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to participate in this week’s ColourQ Challenge CQC63 (http://colourq.blogspot.com/ ) and although the colors were a bit of a challenge for me, the Design Team outdid themselves again with their gorgeous samples.

This card utilizes several pieces of cardstock that I had previously embossed with the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder (EF) along with other strips of cardstock from the color challenge.  It is a fairly easy card to create – very little stamping and mostly layering and a few punches.

First stamp the medium floral image from Greenhouse Garden in Rudy Red (stamped off for the first step of the 2-Step Stamping) on Whisper White and use the second stamp with Ruby Red for the center of the flower and for the sentiment.  Punch the floral image out with the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and layer this onto a Ruby Red layer punched from the Decorative XL Label Punch.  Use the Word Window and Modern Label Punch to create the border for the sentiment and add Dazzling Diamonds and Pearls to finish off both elements.

Punch the lower edge of Kiwi Kiss with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch and layer over the Bermuda Bay. Add this to a layer of Whisper White that has an embossed edge on the bottom.  Add lace (this lace was from my sewing stash), the Chocolate Chip embossed layer, the Ruby Red layer and another layer of embossed Chocolate Chip and final layer of Bermuda Bay.

Add the 5/8” Whisper White Satin Ribbon bow and the focal image along with the sentiment to finish the card.

Stamp Sets:  Garden Greenhouse, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and retired Bermuda Bay, Kiwi Kiss and Ruby Red
Ink: Ruby Red
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Pinking Hearts Border, 1 3/8” Circle, Decorative Label XL , Word Window and Modern Label Punches, Pearls, Dazzling Diamonds, 5/8” Whisper White Satin Ribbon , Non SU! lace from my stash

Thanks again for visiting - I hope you enjoy this card and that all of you have a wonderful week preparing for Christmas!

PPA56 Day into Evening

You will need to check out the newly designed Pals Paper Arts site http://www.palspaperarts.com/ - it is gorgeous!
This week they decided to give us this beautiful Vintage photo for inspiration with the challenge to create two looks of the same card- one for “day” and another for “evening”.

I decided to focus on the glorious browns and spice colors from the atomizer (it is in the middle between the two lovely shoes).

For "Day":

Stamps: Bella Toile Background , Greenhouse Garden and Favorite Thoughts

Ink: More Mustard, Early Espresso

Cardstock: More Mustard, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze

Accessories: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Victoria crochet trim, sponge daubers

Stamp the Bella Toile Background onto More Mustard.  Cut the cardstock in half (with the lower half being approx two-thirds of the cardstock).  Sponge Early Espresso around the edges. Attach layers to Cajun Craze.  Cut a length of the Victoria trim crochet and attach to the exposed Cajun Craze area of the card front.  Attach the Cajun Craze layer to Early Espresso for the card front.

Stamp the Greenhouse Garden floral image in Early Espresso over the Bella Toile Background in the center of the upper piece (make sure that you have enough cardstock on both sides of the image for the next step).  Punch this out with the 1 3/8" punch (don't worry- the hole will be covered with the layered pieces when you are finished- no one would be the wiser:-)  Once you clean your stamp, use the Embossing Buddy and with Versamark ink, stamp the floral image again over the stamped Early Espresso image.  Sprinkle on Clear Embossing Powder and set with the Heat Gun.  Sponge Early Espresso around the edges.  Cut out a 1 1/2" circle of Cajun Craze and a 1 3/4" circle of Early Espresso.  Sponge the edges of the Cajun Craze layer. Attach the floral image to the center of the layer at the top of the card.

Using the Large Oval Punch, cut out an oval from Cajun Craze and run through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  Sponge Early Espresso over the edges and lightly on the raised images.  Attach to the lower part of the card.  Using the sentiment from Favorite Thoughts, stamp with Early Espresso onto More Mustard.  Cut out image and sponge around the edges with Early Espresso.  Attach to card front layering onto the Oval Embellishment.  Take another length of the Victoria crochet trim to create a bow and use a Antique Brad in the center.  Attach to the center under the floral image.

For "Evening" :
Use the Color Spritzer Tool and Early Espresso marker to spritz the entire card (cover the crochet trim).

Add Pearls, Vintage Trinkets and additional Victoria crochet trim to the corners of the sentiment.

Final step- Spray entire card with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint Mist (Champagne Shimmer Paint mixed with 70% isoprophyl alcohol), again protecting the crochet trim from the spray.

I hope you like these two- they were a lot of fun to make!
Thanks for looking- God Bless!
