Sailing on the Open Sea- Two Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!
I love colors in this week’s Paper Player’s PP46 Challenge (http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com) and decided to create a card using these colors along with the great SSC202 sketch at Stamping 411 (see http://www.stamping411.blogspot.com). Again, the Design Team projects at both sites are fabulous- check them out!

First stamp the ship image in Early Espresso onto Whisper White.  Create a mask of the ship with a Post-It note and also punch a circle from a Post-It Note for the sun/moon (remember to allow some of the sticky part of the note to be part of your mask :-)).

Use Sponge Daubers to apply Cherry Cobbler and Not Quite Navy (NQN) ink to the sky and sea areas.  Punch image out using the 2 1/2" XL Circle Punch and layer with NQN cardstock punched with the same punch (cut the NQN in half to allow the edges to "peek out".  Layer the entire image onto a 3" circle of Early Espresso (I used the 3" Originals Circle Die with the Big Shot).

Use the Big Shot with the Square Lattice EF on a piece of the new Nautical Expedition DSP (love this paper!) and lightly sand with the Sanding Block to expose a bit of the white core (in real life, this looks like a worn bandana material!):-)

Use the brayer to apply NQN ink to Whisper White.  Use Early Espresso ink and stamp the ledger stamp from The Open sea iand the sentiment from Sincere Salutation.  Trim the ledger and mount into the embossed panel.  Use some of the other stamps in the set to randomly stamp around the sentiment and use the XL Decorative Label Punch with a layer of Early Espresso from the same punch.

Add the Bakers Twine and Antique Brad for the finishing touches!

Stamp Sets:  The Open Sea, Sincere Sentiments
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and  Not Quite Navy (NQN)
Cardstock:  Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, NQN, Whisper White, Nautical Expedition DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, 3” Original Die, 2 ½” Circle Punch, Decorative Label XL Punch, Brayer, Antique Brad, Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine

I apologize if this becomes a duplicate post for some of you- blogger seems to have had some issues this week.  I had originally posted this on Wednesday eve but when I was able to check on blog on Friday, it had disappeared!  Not sure why, but it was not even in the draft state.
Thanks for all of your encouragement- have a great weekend!
