SUO99 Thinking of You

Hi Stampers!

It’s that time again, time for the SU-Only SUO99 Summer Days: Ocean, Beach and Patriotic Challenge.  I hope you will take the time to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects- they are fantastic!!

I decided to try the Retiform Grid Technique and modified it a bit (here is the link to the tutorialat Splitcoaststampers).

I hope you will have the time to join in our challenge using Stampin’ Up! Only products- we would love to see your creation in our gallery :-)

To create this card:

Ink the lobster image from By The Tide using Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

Create an oval mask using the Big Shot™ with the Oval Collections Framelits™.

Mask around the lobster using the piece of Whisper White cardstock that has the oval cut out from the center (allowing the lobster to be in the center with the oval).  Using a Sponge Dauber, apply Pool Party Classic Ink followed by Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink and Night of Navy Classic Ink.

Remove the large mask and re-mask the lobster with the oval piece cut from the Whisper White cardstock in the steps above.  Using a piece of scrap paper (as straight edges around the oval) create the grid using Sponge Daubers to apply Pool Party Classic Ink, followed by Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink and Night of Navy Classic Ink for each of the sections.

Ink the remaining images from By The Tide using Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink and stamp into the various grids.    Using Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink , ink the Gorgeous Grunge splatter stamp to add a bit of distressing.

Color the lobster and shrimp images using the Stampin’ Blendabilities™ Cherry Cobbler markers and add a few highlights to the images using the Chalk Marker.

At this point, the card could be finished as a one layer card but I decided to modify a bit.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Oval Collections Framelits™ to cut out the lobster and the same size oval from Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  Also cut a larger oval from Whisper White cardstock, layer the lobster image onto the larger Whisper White oval , split the Cherry Cobbler oval in half and adhere behind the larger oval to allow a bit of the Cherry Cobbler to show.

Cut along the grid lines for the remaining portion of the background and adhere to a piece of Whisper White cardstock in the same order as originally stamped (I had to trim a bit to allow the white to show between the grids).  Trim the panel and mount onto to a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler and adhere onto the Whisper White card base.

Add the lobster oval focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to the center of the card.

Stamp the sentiment from Wetlands using Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out using the Large Oval Punch.  Punch two additional ovals using the Large Oval Punch from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and overlap to create a frame for the sentiment.

Cut a small piece of 1 ¼” Burlap Ribbon, trim off the bound edges and pull apart the pieces of the ribbon to create the “net” appearance.

Adhere the Burlap and sentiment to finish off the card.
