Hi Stampers!!
I wanted to try the Audrie's Alcohol Marker Marbling technique highlighted at Splitcoaststampers this week and
decided to incorporate the Splitcoaststampers CC497 Honey, How Very Blissful! Color Challenge (Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Very Vanilla with "dessert" of splatters) along with
the SC507 Sketch (landscape version) and the Mixed Media Challenge #3- Autumn Colors with optional Metal or
Leaves :-)
Again, I hope that
you will find the time to visit all of the linked galleries and see what wonderful
inspiration awaits!
To
create this card:
Using
the dark markers from the Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight Stampin’
Blendabilities™ Collection, scribble the colors onto the zip lock bag as noted
in the tutorial and spritz with rubbing alcohol.
Lay
a piece of Glossy White cardstock over the ink and lift up- it is that easy (and
addicting)! Add a bit of Blackberry
Classic Ink to the zip lock bag, spritz the ink again with the rubbing alcohol, lay a
second piece of Glossy White cardstock over the moistened ink and lift for your
second print (I used the second print for the tilted
background layer "as is" and see the steps below for the focal panel).
Allow
both panels to dry, stamp the sentiment using StazOn® Jet Black Ink in one area of the first print and stamp
the leave image as well onto another section of the same panel (remember
to stamp the leaf off first on scrap paper and then stamp onto the glossy
cardstock).
Carefully
cut out the leaf and set aside (originally I had stamped the leaf on the same
panel as the sentiment, but had too much ink on the stamp and it smeared, so
now I had a “mess” on my sentiment panel- do not do this step- lol!!).
Close-Up showing the "messy" leaf as a shadow :-) |
To
correct the “messy” leaf, I stenciled Frost White Shimmer Paint over the panel
using a Hexagon Stencil and painted over the entire smeared leaf image with the
Frost White Shimmer Paint.
The Frost
White Shimmer Paint was a bit heavy in some areas so I used a baby wipe
with the stencil in place to bring out more of the marker colors :-) Sometimes mistakes can work in your favor and I tend to not give up and keep working at it- very stubborn, I know :-)
For
“dessert”, I add splatters to the background panel using StazOn® Stone Gray Ink
as well as Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink.
Use
the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to
emboss a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
Add the 5/8” Satin Ribbon (this was from my stash and matches Blackberry
Bliss perfectly) and mount the panel onto the Blackberry Bliss card base.
Mount
the glossy alcohol marker panel (the second print version that did not have any
additional stamping or stenciling) onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock
and add to the card base on an angle as per the sketch.
Mount
the stamped/stenciled background panel to the card front and add the leaf image
using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Add
the Pearls to finish off the card.
What
a fabulous technique and thanks, Audrie as well as Splitcoaststampers for sharing the Alcohol Marker Marbling with all of us!

beautiful background colors!! thanks for joining in with us at MMCC :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful finished card..love how you took care of the 'mistake!' When I was taking calligraphy I was told the mark of a professional artist was their ability to cover errors. It's a great way to channel any degree of stubbornness.
ReplyDeleteYou're a gal after my own heart! Take a new technique and give it a try. Make it work beautifully, even after a couple detours. And end up with a fabulous mixed media card! Thanks for joining us this month at MMCC.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Julie. Such a wonderful technique and seems pretty easy too (bonus!). Did see the notice on SCS, but haven't had a chance to try it yet ... now on my "urgent" to-do list! Thanks for joining us at Mixed Media Card Challenge.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and so dramatic with the contrast of white and dark/bright colours! Thanks for sharing with us at the MMCC!
