Happy 15th Birthday- A Vintage Auto for a Fabulous Nephew!

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to share a Mixed Media card that I created this past weekend for the FM194 FridayMashup! Challenge along with the Seize the Birthday 011515 Sketch Challenge and the USEIT2015 Splitcoaststampers Challenge (the Antique Autos stamp set is from 2001 and has rarely been used).

I decided not to "MASHITUP" since we do not have any infants in our immediate family and used the colors only.

I wanted to create a special card for my wonderful nephew (I sure hope he is not checking my blog this week since his celebration with on Saturday :-))- I cannot believe that he is 15 already and wants to apply for his driver's license-time flies when you are having fun!

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites yet, again, I would encourage you to do so- they all have wonderful Design Teams and tremendous inspiration from their galleries each week!

To create this card:

Using the Embossing Buddy®, de-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamp the auto image from the retired Antique Autos set using Versamark™ ink.

Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Early Espresso Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Window Frame Collection Framelits™ to cut out the image and also cut another frame from Early Espresso cardstock (using the same size framelit™ as the embossed image).

Split the Early Espresso frame in half and mount behind the focal image.

To create the collage panel for the vertical strip of the sketch, ink a few of the remaining stamps in the set using Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango and Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White  (masking the images to overlap as you stamp them onto the cardstock).

Trim the panel and adhere to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock using a sewing machine.

Use Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper and Vintage Photo Distress Ink to “antique” the collage panel as well as the automobile image.

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the strips of Tangerine Tango Designer Series Paper (DSP) and add the strips to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock using a sewing machine.   Add a bit of Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper and Vintage Photo Distress Ink to distress the edges and tone down the Tangerine Tango color.

Add the vertical collage panel and focal image to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Ink the sentiment using Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and create the banner points using the Hexagon Punch.  Adhere the sentiment to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock and create the banner points for the Early Espresso layer using the Hexagon Punch as well.

Add the sentiment to the lower portion of the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Use Metallic™ Art Titanium Teal Acrylic Paint to paint the chipboard numbers (from my stash from years ago- do not know the manufacturer’s name).

Add the chipboard numbers to the card front along with the retired Aged Copper Hodgepodge Hardware and ¼” Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain Ribbon to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Antique Autos (2001), Bloom with Hope

Ink: Versamark™,  Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise; Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper and Vintage Photo Distress Ink

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Early Espresso; Tangerine Tango DSP

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Window Frame Collection Framelits™, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Early Espresso Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Sponge Daubers, sewing machine, Aged Copper Hodgepodge Hardware, ¼” Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain Ribbon, chipboard numbers, Metallic™ Art Titanium Teal Acrylic Paint

Thanks again for visiting- I hope all of you have a fantastic week!!

I had a chance to create a card this evening and decided to participate in the ODBDSLC223 Inspiration Challenge along with the FMS170 Sketch Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers CAS308 New Year's Resolution (this Designer Paper and stamp set had not seen any "love" yet and I have had them for a year).

In addition to following the sketch, I was inspired by the roses along with the pinks and soft green in the gorgeous Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Challenge photo :-)

This verse has always been one of my favorites and I am putting my trust in Him and looking forward to seeing how the Lord directs my path...

I hope you will have a chance to visit and check out all of the wonderful Design projects and other entries at all three sites!

Trim the pieces of the Heart and Soul Collection Designer Paper (Our Daily Bread Designs- ODBD) and mount onto Whisper White cardstock.  Trim again and mount onto Early Espresso cardstock, add the strip of 5/8” White Organza Ribbon and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Ornate Hearts Die (ODBD) and cut the open heart from Early Espresso cardstock.

Punch out the leaves from Mellow Moss cardstock using the Bird Builder Punch, adhere the leaves behind the rolled flowers and add to the center of the heart (again, I used a Hot Glue Gun since I had it on my desk and ready to go).
Adhere the heart to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Card Concept #27- Love is in the Air

Hi Stampers!!

I had fun creating this Mixed Media card for The Card Concept #27 Challenge using our wonderful photo for inspiration.  I was inspired by the woodgrain background along with the ombre colors of the “LOVE” Letters :-)

The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

Since this card has hearts, I am also linking to the Splitcoaststampers MIX54 Mix-Ability Hearts Challenge from February 7, 2014 :-)

I hope you will have a chance to check out the rest of the Design Team projects and create your own project in one of the styles to join in on the fun!

To create this card:

Apply Gesso to a piece of Whisper White cardstock and allow it to dry (you can use the Heat Tool to speed up the drying process).

Once dried, apply Gelatos™ (Bubble Gum and Guava) to the background, add water and use your finger to smooth onto the background.

Apply Wendy Vecchi® Crackled Texture Paste to the background using the round circles in the Balzar Designs Mini Punchenella stencil- allow to dry (or use the Heat Tool to speed up the process).

Apply Ranger® Tm Holtz® Distress Stains- Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks and spritz with water- allow the ink to drain down the panel.

Continue to layer more ink adding Black Soot and Brushed Pewter Metallic Distress Stain.

Ink the Notable Notions script stamp using Jet Black Stāz-On® Ink and randomly stamp over the background.  Add Jim Holtz® Adirondack® Cranberry and Silver Alcohol Ink over the texture area and allow the ink to spread over the textured area.

Trim the panel and add the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware ribbon slid to the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon and mount to the background panel.

Mount the panel onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Basic Black card base.

Using My Digital Studio (MDS) to print out the hearts from the digital stamp brush set, Always and the sentiment (from Teeny Tiny Wishes) onto Whisper White cardstock.

Trim each word of the sentiment and mount each onto Basic Black cardstock.

Color one of the hearts using Worn Lipstick Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stain and use an AquaPainter™ to apply Frost White Shimmer Paint in the center of the remaining two hearts.

Fussy-cut the hearts out and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock (fussy-cutting around the hearts to create a frame).

Add the key trinket with a piece of metallic wire to one of the frosted hearts and the keyed heart along with the colored one at the lower part of the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the letters to the remaining frosted heart using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and mount the heart over the ribbon at the top of the card.

Floral Triple Stamping- A Fun Technique

Hi Stampers!

I was able to spend some more time crafting last night and wanted to create a card for the FM193 FloralTriple Layer Challenge and decided to use one of my favorite retired sets, Elements of Style along with Stampin’ Blendabilities™.

If you have not already visited the Friday Mashup! site, I hope you will do so- wonderful Design Team samples as well as the gallery of entries!!

To create this card:

Using Whisper White cardstock, create three squares- one 2x2, one 3x3 and one 4x4.  Layer and adhere the three together and stamp the floral image over the panels using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink (see the SplitcoaststampersTriple Stamping Tutorial here).

Stamp a few additional flowers to use as accents on another piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Color the flowers using the Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Old Olive and  Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blendabilities™ Collections and add a few shadows with a Stampin' Write Crumb Cake marker.

Apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink to age the paper and stamp the Gorgeous Grunge large splatter stamp using Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Mount the individual squares onto Night of Navy cardstock and sponge additional Vintage Photo Distress Ink along the edges.

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges of the retired Newsprint Designer Series Paper (DSP) as well as a piece of Raspberry Lemonade DSP.   Layer the two pieces of distressed DSP onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and add the horizontal strip of the Raspberry Lemondade DSP- use a sewing machine to sew the panels together.

Mount the sewn background panel onto a Whisper White cardbase and add the ½ White Tea Lace Paper Doily to the side.

Adhere the Triple Stamped panel on an angle along with the sentiment banner to the lower left hand side using Stampin’  Dimensionals®.

Fussy-cut the additional flowers and add to the side of the panel and  use a Faber-Castell White Pitt Pen to add highlights to the flower centers.

Adhere the Pearls to the upper right hand corner to finish off the card.
