TCC33 A Floral Card with a Graphic Twist :-)

Hi Stampers!!

It’s time for the new Card Concept #33 Inspiration Photo Challenge- my Mixed Media card was inspired by the colors as well as the wonderful chevron (see on the bed  skirt :-)) and other bold graphics:-)

I decided to combine our Card Concept challenge with the Mixed Media Card Challenge #10, the Splitcoaststampers Free For All F4A267 Flower Power Challenge (see details here and gallery here)

The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

So,  I hope you will find the time to gather your supplies together and come join in on the fun!!

To create this card:

Apply a layer of Gesso® to a piece of Whisper White cardstock and allow to dry (I prefer to use my Heat Tool to speed up the process).

On your craft mat, apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains- Worn Lipstick, Victorian Velvet, Weathered Wood, Black Soot and Picket Fence…Lay your prepared piece of Whisper White cardstock over the stains, twist and lift.

Repeat until you have the desired effect on your background, spritzing with water and allowing the stain to spread over the cardstock and drying as needed between layers with the Heat Tool.

Ink the background stamp, Positively Chevron using Black Soot Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stain and position the background panel over the image, “finger walk” the panel on parts of the stamp to allow only portions of the stamp to be revealed on the background, re-position the background layer and repeat (again, until the desired effect is achieved).

Once dried, apply Gesso® using the Balzar Designs® Mini Punchenella stencil- allow this to dry and add a bit more Worn Lipstick, Victorian Velvet and Picket Fence Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains.

Add a bit of splatter using the Gorgeous Grunge large splatter stamp with Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink.

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, punch out with the 2 ½” Circle Punch, layer onto another 2 ½” circle punched from Basic Black and adhere to the card front.

Add the lattice die cut border (ODBD Beautiful Borders cut with the Big Shot™) along with the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow.

Mount the panel onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Stamp the flowers from the retired set, Toile Blossoms using Stāz-On Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the flowers and stems using Stampin’ Write Markers- Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo and Smoky Slate.

Add the white highlights to the flower centers with the Faber-Castell White Pitt Pen marker.

Carefully “fussy-cut” the images and apply a coat of Mod Podge® over the flowers and allow to dry (this helps to stabilize the images and gives it a bit of “shine”).

Add the flowers to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the Black Rhinestone "Gems" to the upper right hand corner to finish off the card.
