It’s time for the new SUO126 "Designer Paper” Challenge!
I decided to use the beautiful Timeless
Elegance Designer Paper (DSP) – this paper is gorgeous on its own or you can
add color (as I did in my second sample).
I also incorporated the
FabFri67 Color Challenge (all of the new In-Colors and I used all of the colors in my card) along with the FM215 Friday Mashup! "It's All Aboutg Three" Challenge (I have three vertical panels as well as three main roses :-)).
I hope you will find the time to check out all the rest of our
Design Team ideas at SUO Challenges as well as those at the other two challenge
sites- fabulous inspiration from all!
To create the Basic Black and Vanilla version of the card:
Original Black and Vanilla version :-) |
Cut the Timeless Elegance
DSP into three panels and mount onto Basic Black cardstock.
Trim a piece of Very
Vanilla cardstock and adhere to the Basic Black card base.
Add the three vertical
panels of layered DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Stamp the sentiment onto a
piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, trim and create
the banner points with the Banner Punch.
Adhere a strip of Basic
Black cardstock across the vertical panel and add the sentiment.
Use the Bow Builder Punch
to create the Basic Black bow and add the Antique Brad to the center (I cut off
the tails on the brad and adhered directly to the center of the bow).
Even though I loved the look of the Black and Vanilla only, I felt that I wanted to add color, so I decided to color in the images :-)
To create the “watercolor” version of the card:
Repeat the same steps as above.
Using an AquaPainter™, apply Watermelon Wonder to the large
roses, Mint Macaron along with Cucumber Crush to the leaves, Delightful Dijon
to the flower centers and Tip Top Taupe to the background.
So, which one do you prefer- the “watercolored” version or the
original? I am having a tough time deciding- IRL, the colored version seems a bit "richer" in appearance and the roses have a velvety look to them (remember not to use too much water) :-)
Stamp Sets: Teeny Tiny Wishes

Crush, Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder
Paper/Cardstock: Basic

ReplyDeleteps, I think I like the colored one best. You do amazing things with adding color.
ReplyDeleteYour watercolored card is simply gorgeous! Any issues with watercoloring DSP? Thanks for sharing with us at the Friday Mashup.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful, though I prefer the watercolored one- you really did a fabulous job on that!
ReplyDeleteJulie - as always, this is stunning! Great use of this paper and color challenge. What a wonderful transformation you gave to that paper! Thanks for playing along with this week's FabFriday Color Challenge.
ReplyDeleteWowzers! Looking at it just now, Julie, I could hardly believe that it's the same paper! What an amazing card, it's absolutely gorgeous and so artistic. I'm so glad you played along with us at Fab Friday!
ReplyDeleteI love the water colored dsp. I'm old enough that we had only black and white tvs and dark wallpaper on the wall. That must be why I love color on cards.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! Yes, I remember those B/W TV days all too well :-) Thanks again for taking the time to comment- hugs, my friend!!
