ODBDSLC253 Deep Waters- Isaiah 43:2 I Will Be With You

Hello Friends!

Woohoo!!  I am so excited to be a Guest Designer for Our Daily Bread Designs for the month of September!  I just love the ODBD stamp sets, coordinating dies and paper collections and am looking forward to sharing with you this month!

Today starts the new Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light ODBDSLC253 Color Challenge and this card highlights the brand new stamp set, Deep Waters from the brand new September 2015 Release- this stamp set offers a wonderful collection of verses, sentiments as well as a fantastic undersea scene! The entire new release has so many fabulous sets for card making, scrapbooking as well as Bible Art Journaling focusing on God's creation :-)

I am looking forward to designing alongside the talented ODBD Design Team and hope you will check out my DT Sisters:

To see all the projects created for ODBDSLC253 or to join the challenge click here. You have until September 13, 2015, at 8:00 pm EDT. By participating in the challenge, you have a chance to win a $15 ODBD Gift Certificate good towards the purchase of stamps in the “stamps column” on the ODBD website, or to be spotlighted on the ODBD Blog at our next challenge. The random prize winner will be posted on our next challenge post. Please do not post on Flicker as many of us do not have the ability to comment on your cards nor can we spotlight your cards on the blog.

Many of you know that this past year has been a challenge for us as my husband was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia (“WM” for short).  Early this year, he went through several months of chemo every three weeks and is now in the maintenance stage of chemo (all while working many extra OT hours on his salary position at work).  He has had a few negative side effects, but through it all, we know that the Lord is with us and this verse from Isaiah 43:2 in the new stamp set, Deep Waters  “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you!” has meant so much to us this year!

I also incorporated the sketch from the previous Shining the Light ODBDSLC250 Sketch Challenge along with several ODBD die sets- Ovals Die, Pennant Dies and Boho Background Dies with the color challenge for this week (I did not have a chance to play along with the previous sketch challenge :-) ).

The Deep Waters underwater sea image was stamped with a waterproof ink onto white cardstock and colored using water based markers with a water brush.  Details to finish off the scene include using sparkle shimmer paint for the sand, frost shimmer paint for the shells as well as a white gel pen for some highlights (it is a bit difficult to see the shimmer in the photo).

In addition to the encouragement that cards created with this new set can bring to the recipient, I also think the Deep Waters stamp set gives you so many options for both masculine as well as feminine cards!  I know that I am always in need of “guy” cards- how about you?

  2. Love how bright your card is - perfect encouragement to go with your verse. So glad to have you with us - and together on SnSS too! :) Prayers for you and your husband - I've never heard of WM until our own friend was diagnosed with it. Thankful that he was diagnosed early enough and has gotten treatment. May he continue to get better!

  4. First of all, Julie, what a delight to see you as guest designer for ODBD. You are so precious and talented and a wonderful addition. And I love your card...so beautifully colored and designed, but the best is that precious Scripture verse! Yes, this has been a hard year for you and Dave, and it's great comfort to know that He walks with us through it all. Continuing to pray for you both...hugs and love, my friend!

  7. What a beautiful card, so full of inspiration and beautiful color. (Sorry I deleted the first comment I wrote but there is edit button and I made an error). Someday I must sit down with my iPad and a pad of paper, prepared to go through the entire ODB website, making a (very large) wish list. The more I see, the more I want to add these beautiful components to my cardmaking supplies. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
