SUO148 Favorite Retiring DSP- Timeless Elegance

Hi Friends!   

It’s time for the SUO148 “Papers We'll Miss!” Challenge and I decided to create a Mixed Media Clean and Simple (CAS) card using my favorite retiring cardstock (Blackberry Bliss) and my favorite designer series paper, Timeless Elegance.

I love the deep, rich color of the Blackberry Bliss and I think that the Timeless Elegance DSP looks great “as is” with the black and neutrals (or with added color as in this card) and even though I am sad that both are retiring, I am looking forward to the new selections in the upcoming catalogs.  

For this one layer background, I incorporated the Splitcoaststampers' CC581 Color Challenge along with the CAS346 “Use Your Words ” Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #228/#229 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

 I hope you will have a chance to check out my sister Design Team member samples at the SU-Only Challenge site as well as the fantastic Design Team samples and entries at the other galleries- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Use an AquaPainter™ with Soft Sky Classic Ink to watercolor the background (Very Vanilla areas without flowers) of a piece of Timeless Elegance DSP.

Continue to watercolor the paper with an AquaPainter™ using Blackberry Bliss and Wisteria Wonder for the flowers and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.

Once the watercolor is dry, use the coordinating Stampin’ Write Marker to add shadows within the petals (applying water with the AquaPainter™ to soften the edges) and a Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker to add shadows below the petals and leaves.

Allow the panel to dry, de-static the background with the Embossing Buddy™, stamp the sentiment from Rose Wonder using Versamark™ Ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Trim the DSP background panel and mount onto Whisper White cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Blackberry Bliss card base with dimensional foam (the panel does not look as "wavy" IRL :-)).

To finish off the card, add Clear Wink of Stella® (hard to see in the photo) to the Blackberry Bliss blossoms and roses.
