SC679 Wetland Thoughts of You

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the weekly sketch at Splitcoaststampers! Cathy was our #SC679 sketch designer again this week and I love this versatile sketch she created for us!

I decided to create another Clean and Simple Mixed Media card using the new release from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps- Scene Silhouettes:Wetlands and Scene Silhouettes: Wetland Grass along with a previously released stamp set, Long Stem Silhouettes.

Plus, the Scene Silhouettes:Wetlands is the January stamp of the month (see here for details).

If you have not had a chance to visit the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch gallery or other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Die cut a large rectangle from white cardstock using stitched rectangle dies, score along the vertical lines of the sketch.  Mount the panel onto a piece of black cardstock and adhere to the white card base.

2). Ink the duck images from Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands using archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the images have cooled, fussy-cut and set aside.

3). Die cut another smaller rectangle with stitched rectangle dies.  Using a sponge applicator, apply distress inks (I used tumbled glass, salty ocean and picked raspberry).  Once you are satisfied with the ink blending, spritz a bit of water over the panel and pat dry.  Dry thoroughly with a heat tool.

4). De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the Scene Silhouettes: Wetland Grass image using archival black ink and stamp twice onto the panel.  Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

5). Re-ink the same Scene Silhouettes: Wetland Grass image with hickory smoke distress ink and stamp over the embossed grass images.

6). Mount the panel onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge and adhere to the card front (along with the fussy-cut duck images from Step #1) using dimensional foam.

7). Heat emboss the sentiment from Long Stem Silhouettes with white embossing powder onto black cardstock.  Trim and create the flag banner by hand, mount onto the card front.

8). Add a few crystal drops to finish off the card.
