TCC95 And Baby Makes Three!

Hi Friends!

Isn’t this a cute photo?  The owls look adorable as well as the wonderful colors and patterns and I was inspired to create a Clean and Layered Mixed Media card using the retired Stampin’ Up! sets- Baby, We’ve Grown and Cuddles & Kisses.

I have owned these sets for a few years but had never inked up the images for this card.  So many stamps and so little time- lol!!

I used the TGIF Challenges #163 Sketch Challenge for the layout and am also participating with the Retro Rubber #88 “Anything Goes” Challenge (both stamp sets are several years old).

Just a reminder that The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a suggestion of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media (or you can combine several styles for your own style).

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or visit the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the owl image from Baby, We’ve Grown with archival black ink, stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool. Once the embossing has cooled, use Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image (the colors I used are listed below in the card recipe).

2). Die cut the owl panel with a rectangle die and using the same die, die cut another rectangle from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  Layer both panels onto Rich Razzleberry cardstock and trim close to the edge.

3). Die cut a piece of designer paper with a stitched rectangle die (I used a piece from my stash and I am not sure of the manufacturer).  Mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  Adhere the entire panel to a white card front.

4). Die cut two banners from designer paper (this piece was from the retired SU! Razzleberry Lemonade DSP) with a stitched jumbo fishtail banner die.  Mount the banners directly onto the card front and add the Lemon Lime Twist panel on an angle (per the sketch).  Mount the owl image panel with dimensional foam.

5). Stamp the sentiment from Cuddles & Kisses with archival black ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Trim the panel and create the flag banner with the retired SU! Hexagon Punch.  Mount onto Rich Razzleberry cardstock and repeat the flag banner ends with the punch.

6).  Mount the sentiment onto the card front (using dimensional foam on the top half) and add the retired button (I used a slim piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock as “thread”).

7). Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the owls.  Finish off the card with a few iridescent sequins and Nuvo™ Morning Dew Crystal Drops to the owl’s eyes (hard to see the shimmer and the dimension on the eyes in the photo- sorry).
