Hi Friends!
It's time for The Card Concept #106 {Pink Party} Challenge- our first challenge of the New Year! Thanks for playing along with us over the Christmas/New Year holiday- we loved seeing all of pictures of your Christmas trees and/or your favorite card design from 2018 shared in our
last challenge.
Isn't this a gorgeous scene? I was inspired by the black and white along with the
shades of pink to create a very quick vintage style Mixed Media card using an
image from the current Stampin' Up! hostess set, Very Vintage, a script image from the retired
SU! Notable Notions and a verse sentiment from the Stamp Simply Words of
Encouragement set.
I am also participating
with the Simon Says Monday “Use Something New” Challenge (the Very Vintage
stamp set is new to me) along with the Alphabet Challenge “U is for Use Some Stitching- Real or Faux” and the Word Art Wednesday #368-#369 “Anything Goes” Challenge.
Just a reminder that
the Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along
with a suggestion of design styles that you can choose from to create your
card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic,
Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media (or you can combine
several styles for your own style).
If you have not had a
chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope
you will find time to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!
To
create this card:
1).
De-static two pieces of white cardstock with an embossing powder
tool. Using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink,
stamp the floral image from Very Vintage (Stampin’ Up!) on one panel and on the other, stamp the
sentiment verse from Words of Encouragement (Simply Stamps). Apply clear embossing powder to both and
heat set with a heat tool.
2).
Once the embossing powder has cooled, watercolor the floral image using water-based
markers (I used Zig® Clean Color Markers) and die cut both images using
stitched circle dies. Mount the images onto circles die cut from black
cardstock.
3).
Fold a piece of 4 ¼” x 11” extra thick white cardstock in half for the card
base. Using a stencil brush with a
chevron stencil, apply distress oxide ink to the background. Lightly spritz a bit of water over the
background, tap with a paper towel and dry with a heat tool. Stamp the script
image from Notable Notions sporadically over the background using distress ink
(stamping off the image before stamping onto the cardstock).
4).
Mount the focal image circle and sentiment to the card front with dimensional
foam, lightly stencil around the image and over the sentiment.
5).
Finish off the card by adding a few pearls and applying a bit of shimmer to the larger flower petals with a
clear glitter pen.
