Welcome to The Card Concept #140 {Fanciful Fall} Challenge! Isn’t this a fun inspiration photo?
I love the different patterns and fanciful colors of the leaves, and in my effort to continue to ink up some of my older stamp sets, pulled out Lighthearted Leaves (retired Stampin’ Up! from 2015) and paired it with a sentiment from Scripture Medley 3 (retired Verve Stamp Set from 2013).
I decided to keep the card Clean and Simple so that the leaf could be center stage as well as one of my favorite Bible verses. Since I used heat embossing along with water-based markers, a few rhinestones, and dots with an extra fine white paint pen (using more than one medium), this card qualifies as Mixed Media.
In addition to our inspiration photo challenge, I am participating with the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #144 “Anything Goes” Challenge (both sets are over 5 years old and the RRCB requires you to use stamps that are at least a year old or older) and the Stamping Sensations September challenge “The Great Outdoors”. This time of year, we are seeing a lot of colorful leaves (although not as fanciful as this one, lol!).
If you have not had a
chance to visit The
Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous
inspiration from all!
To create this card:
Ink the leaf image using Versafine™ Onyx Black ink and stamp onto a prepared piece of white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.
Once the embossing
has cooled, watercolor the image using water-based markers (see the colors used
below). Once you are satisfied with the coloring, use a extra fine white paint
pen to add white dots to the design.
Die cut the leaf with the retired Vintage Leaves coordinating die and set aside.
Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched rectangle die (approx. 4 x 5 ¼”), de-static the lower right hand corner with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.
Mount
the sentiment panel onto a white card base.
Add
the die cut leaf with chipboard (or dimensional foam).
Add
a few rhinestones to finish off the card.
