SU! Retired Sets

04/04/16- How to use the "LABEL" Section

Hi Friends!

Originally I created this subpage to update with examples of cards that I create using retired stamp Stampin' Up! sets.

Unfortunately with Blogger, it seems as though you can have one Main Page that will allow individual posts and the secondary pages are one large document.  Since this is a secondary page, it is difficult to maintain :-)

I do have a way to access all of my designs with any particular stamp set under the "LABELS" section (on the main page, scroll to the very bottom of the page- way past the items on the right).

I have been assigning labels to all of my posts and usually I always label the stamp set, so if you are looking for samples that use (for ex: French Foliage), just find French Foliage under the Labels, click on that title and you will be directed to all of the French Foliage posts on my blog.

Since I have this feature, I will not be updating this page with cards that are created with retired sets.  I hope you will check it out :-)

Thanks for your understanding :-)
Julie
----------------------------------------------- 11/13/11- Friendship Journey

Hi Stampers!

Well, I decided to create another card today and I just love the inspiration photo for this week’s Pals Paper ArtsPPA119 Challenge!  I chose to pair it with the SSC229 Sketch at Stamping411 and used the colors from The PaperPlayers PP72 Challenge (great colors, LeAnne!)

Again, if you have not already done so and have the time, drop by the sites above for some wonderful inspiration!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ along with the Vintage WallpaperTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of River Rock cardstock (use the brayer to apply Always Artichoke first to the smooth interior of the folder).  Also emboss a piece of Always Artichoke with the Snow Burst Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Stamp the focal image with Versamark™ ink onto River Rock cardstock and the floral images onto Riding Hood Red cardstock.  Heat emboss with Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and color the focal image using Stampin’ Write markers in Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke and River Rock.

Layer the pieces and add the 5/8” Black Satin bow and pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Creative Elements, Friendship’s Journey (retired)

Ink: Versamark™,  Stampin’ Write markers- Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke and River Rock.

Cardstock:  River Rock, Always Artichoke, Basic Black

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Vintage Wallpaper and Snow Burst Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Heat Gun, Stampiin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder, 5/8” Black Satin Ribbon, Brayer, Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope you enjoyed this vintage card using a retired favorite!

10/06/11  Another Get Well Card!

Hi Stampers!
I wanted to create another quick, easy card (since it is still the work week and I cannot stay up until 3am and get up to go to work as easy as I used to :-)) so I decided to use the Sunny Challenges and Creations 010/11 Sketch/Theme along with the colors from this week’s Splitcoast CC343Color Challenge (More Soft Tango).  Again, if you have the time, stop by and give them some stamping "love" :-)
Every so often I like to pull out one of my retired sets- in fact, the majority of my stamp collection from the past 12 years is now retired (I cannot part with them yet) and I thought that one of the butterflies from Wonderful Wings would be perfect for the theme portion of the challenge.   I just love the images in this set, in fact, I think all of God's creations are so exquisite and this butterfly is no exception :-)
Also note- One thing that I love about sketch challenges is that they are created to motivate and inspire you, so generally it is allowed to flip or reverse the layout as long as you still maintain the original design (I decided to flip mine).

To create this card:

With the Big Shot™, emboss a piece of Soft Suede with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (this piece I had already embossed in my scraps- I told this was a quick one).

De-static a piece of More Mustard with the Embossing Buddy® and stamp the butterfly image with Versamark™ ink.  Apply Basic Black Stampin’ Emboss® powder and heat emboss with the Heat Tool.  Once cooled, use a Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Write marker to color within the wings. Mount onto a layer of Basic Black and use a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write marker with the Color Spritzer Tool to add additional interest.

Punch a piece of More Mustard with the Eyelet Border Punch and use the Crimper to add texture.  Attach a piece of 3/8” Kraft Taffeta Ribbon and adhere to the Soft Suede panel.

Stamp the sentiment with Soft Suede Classic Ink, punch with the Word Window Punch and layer onto a Basic Black Modern Label Punch.  Mount the focal image and sentiment layer- add pearls to finish off the card.

Originally the neutrals for the color challenge were White and Vanilla- I did not realize this until I finished the card (hopefully they will not “boot” the card off the challenge gallery).

Stamp Sets:  Wonderful Wings, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  Soft Suede, Versamark™, Stampin’ Write Markers- Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango
Cardstock: More Mustard, Soft Suede, Basic Black
Accessories:  Big Shot™, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders , Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Basic Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Eyelet Border, Modern Label and Word Window Punches, Color Spritzer Tool, Crimper, 3/8” Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon, Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by – have fun stamping and creating!  I am so thankful that tomorrow is Friday :-)!

10/01/11  Equestrian Dream and to be 16 Again!

Hi Stampers!

This week my twin nieces celebrated their 16th birthday!  In some ways it just seems like they were born yesterday and yet all of those memories of their childhood seem so distant.  To see them grow up into the young, beautiful girls that they have become is amazing!

Of course, they love horses and are volunteers at a local ministry called Horses for Hearts and they love it!  In honor of their birthday, I created their cards using one of my favorite retired SU! sets, Equestrian Dream along with Heat Embossing and Spiced Cake Designer Series Paper (DSP).

These cards were quick and easy to make as well- use the Big Shot™ along with the Top Note™ Die to cut the panels from Very Vanilla and Early Espresso.  Trim along the perforated edge from the Very Vanilla and sand the edges with the Sanding Block.

De-static the Very Vanilla piece using the Embossing Buddy®, stamp the images in Versamark™ ink and heat emboss with Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder.  Mount the Very Vanilla onto the Early Espresso and attach the 5/8” Satin Ribbon .

Repeat the above steps to emboss the sentiment and punch out using the Large Oval Punch (layer onto two pieces of Early Espresso also punched out with the Large Oval Punch).

Layer the focal image onto the Spice Cake DSP (embossed with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder) and mount onto Early Espresso.

Stamp Sets:  Equestrian Dream (retired), Sincere Salutations
Ink:  Versamark™
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Spice Cake DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot™, Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Sanding Block, Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder, Large Oval Punch, Satin Ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for visiting- the girls seemed to enjoy these cards and I know it gave me great pleasure to create them for someone as special as they are!

Sunflower Serenade with the CQC86 Color Combination

Hi Stampers!
I created this card using the colors from this week’s CQC86 ColourQ Challenge (see http://colourq.blogspot.com) and the SFF052711 sketch from Sketch Friday Frenzy (see http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com).  The colors just seemed to reflect summer so I decided to use a retired SU! set, Sunflower Serenade

To create this card:
Use the Big Shot to emboss a piece of Real Red DSP with the Square Lattice EF and lightly sand with the Sanding Block to expose the white core.  Mount onto an Early Espresso card front.

De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy and repeatedly ink the sunflower stamp first with Versamark, then with Early Espresso.  Apply Clear EP and heat emboss. Color the petals with Daffodil Delight and So Saffron, the center with Early Espresso.  Trim the flowers close to the embossing and cut in half.

Arrange four halves along a piece of Real Red (embossed with the Square Lattice EF) and mount this layer onto an embossed layer of So Saffron.  Attach an 5/8” Early Espresso Ribbon along the top edge of the So Saffron layer.

Use the Big Shot to cut a piece of Early Espresso with the Top Note die and emboss with the Square Lattice EF.  Also emboss another piece of So Saffron and Real Red, punch two circles with the 2 1/2” XL Circle Punch.

Stamp the sentiment in Early Espresso onto Whisper White and punch out with the Word Window Punch.  Mount onto a layer of So Saffron punched with the Modern Label Punch.
Mount the sentiment layer in the center of the Real Red circle and attach two halves of one of the sunflower images above and below the sentiment.  Adhere to the So Saffron circle (cut in half to allow a layer effect) and adhere a Decorative XL Label from So Saffron (also embossed and cut in half) on the sides of the circle.  Mount entire circle onto the Top Note layer.  Add the pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:   Sunflower Serenade, Short & Sweet
Ink:  Versamark, Early Espresso
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Real Red, So Saffron
Accessories:  Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Sanding Block, Embossing Buddy, Heat Gun, Clear EP, Punches- Word Window, Modern Label, Decorative Label XL, 2 1/2” XL Circle, Pearls, 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon

05/15/11   CQC84 Mother's DaY

Hi Stampers!
Last week we did were not able to join my sister-in-law for Mother’s Day and I decided to create a new card for tomorrow’s celebration (well, looking at the time- today’s celebration).  Since she loves yellow, I decided to use this week’s CQC84 colors from the ColourQ Challenge (see http://colourq.blogspot.com).

To create this card:
Stamp the floral spray from Watercolor Trio (retired) with Old Olive (first stamp off on a piece of scrap paper) onto Whisper White.  Color the floral image with SU! markers in Not Quite Navy (NQN), Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.  Use the Color Spritzer Tool with the NQN marker to spritz the image and round the corners with the Corner Rounder Punch.  Sponge the edges with Crumb Cake and lightly in the center to antique and tone down the white.

Punch a piece of Daffodil Delight and NQN with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch. Layer with additional pieces of Daffodil Delight and NQN (embossed with the Finial Press EF).  Layer onto the stamped image and add pearl strands.

Use the Big Shot to emboss a piece of Crumb Cake with the Finial Press EF (on the edges only leaving a flat area in the center).  Use a Sponge Dauber to lightly apply NQN over the embossed panel and attach scraps of Daffodil Delight and NQN (embossed with the Square Lattice EF) and Whisper White punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  Stamp the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes and punch the sentiment using the Word Window Punch.  Layer all onto Whisper White and again onto Old Olive.

Stamp Sets:   Watercolor Trio, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  NQN, Old Olive, SU! Markers- Old Olive, NQN and Daffodil Delight
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, NQN, Crumb Cake
Accessories:  Big Shot, Square Lattice and Finial Press EF, Word Window Punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Sponge Daubers, Pearls, Color Spritzer Tool
Thanks again for visiting- I hope all of you have a blessed Sunday!

***********************************************************************
I will be updating this page soon and hope to use it for projects that I create using retired Stampin’ Up! stamps and possibly incorporate other products.  I tend to purchase 99% SU! but occasionally I will buy something on sale (who can resist those 50% off coupons!:-))
If you are like me, you love to "own it all" and I cannot seem to part with any of my papercrafting “stuff”.  I have so many sets that I would like to pull some out occasionally and ink up, so stayed tuned!
Thanks again for visiting me- have a great time stamping and God Bless!
