Virtual Stamp Night Weekend- Night #2 :-)

Hi Stampers!!

Here are the cards that I created for the Splitcoaststampers Dog Days of Summer Virtual StampingNight #2 (remember- there is a 45 minute time limit for creating each card).  I did not get started until 9:00 pm so it was an all-nighter but I had so much fun!!  I still have two challenges to complete but will load these for now…

Challenge JUN13VSNKids – Silly Straws (create a card using the straw blowing method).  I just discovered this technique a while back and love the effect for underwater scenes, so I decided to use the By The Tide set along with a retired sentiment from Kind and Caring Thoughts.

Using Certainly Celery re-inker, place three drops of ink onto Glossy White cardstock and blow through a plastic straw to move the ink around (tip- hold the straw directly above the ink within 1/8” or so and blow hard- be careful, you will become lightheaded :-)).

Place three drops of Baja Breeze, repeat with the straw and then three drops of Midnight Muse (leaving some white areas).  While the ink is still wet, gently blot dry with scrap paper (do not rub).

Ink the script stamp using Midnight Muse and repeatedly stamp over the straw blown image as well as the coral image towards the bottom.  Adhere to Midnight Muse and Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment, create the banner points with the 1” Square Punch, add a layer of Midnight Muse cardstock and retired Hemp Twine.

Emboss the Whisper White card base using the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, add the strip of Woodgrain embossed Midnight Muse (from my scraps) along with the focal image panel and sentiment.

Add the fussy cut fish image to finish off the card (again, had this one in my scraps- love those scrap pieces!).

Stamp Sets:  By The Tide, Kind and Caring Thoughts (retired Hostess)

Ink: Midnight Muse, Re-inkers- Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, Midnight Muse
Paper: Whisper White, Midnight Muse

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Fancy Fan and Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, 1” Square Punch, Plastic Drinking Straw, Natural Hemp Twine (retired)

The next challenge is JUN13VSNG- Strip Down Your Card (only one layer)- this is a tough one for me!!  I decided to use a masking technique to give the illusion of multiple layers.

Using the 1 ¾” Square, I created a mask with Whisper White cardstock and sponged Smoky Slate and Basic Gray ink into the squares and then stamped the images from By The Seashore.

While the mask is still in place, use the Color Spritzer Tool with the Stampin’ Write Basic Gray marker to add a bit of “sand”.

Layer another square over the most recent stamped image as well as the open square for the new image and repeat. To give the appearance of layers, lightly shadow with the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker.

Emboss just the side area using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and stamp the sentiment using Midnight Muse Classic Ink.

Add to the Whisper White card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and you are finished!!

Stamp Sets:  By The Seashore, Uncharted Territory

Ink: Basic Gray, Midnight Muse, Smoky Slate, Stampin’ Write Markers- Basic Gray, Sahara Sand

Paper: Whisper White

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Square LatticeTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Color Spritzer Tool

The JUN13VSNH FlipFlop challenge is to create a Swing Fold card- only have created one of these in the past and was concerned about the 45 minute time limit, so I saved this one for last…  I decided to “google” Swing Fold with the Framelits and created this card using the Big Shot™ and the Window Collection Framelits™.

Open View
After creating the swing fold part, I embossed just the front panel using the Flower Garden Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, added a few strips of Poetry Print DSP along with Midnight Muse cardstock.

Stamp the focal image and inner panel using Stipple Blossoms and Midnight Muse Classic Ink.

Add the Elegant Eggplant butterflies along with Gumball Green sentiment.

Stamp Sets:  Stippled Blossoms, Blessings From Heaven, Papillon Potpourri

Ink: Midnight Muse, Elegant Eggplant, Gumball Green

Paper: Whisper White, Midnight Muse, Poetry Print DSP (Gumball Green floral)

After creating the swing fold part, I embossed just the front panel using the Floral Garden Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, added a few strips of Poetry Print DSP along with Midnight Muse cardstock.

The JUN13VSNI It’sToo Hot! Challenge is to use a hat image or create one- after searching my inventory, I realize that hat stamps obviously were not to be found so I used a retired masculine set, Angler and tried to highlight the hat with markers- not sure if I succeeded….

This card was quick and easy, stamp the images using Basic Gray Classic ink onto Sofy Sky and Whisper White cardstock, add a bit of Sahara Sand and Basic Gray marker along with Natural Hemp Twine and viola, a hat image afterall!

Stamp Sets:  Angler, Fly Fishing

Ink: Basic Gray, Stampin’ Write Markers- Sahara Sand, Basic Gray, Early Espresso

Paper: Whisper White, Soft Sky, Early Espresso

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Natural Hemp Twine

The JUN13VSNJ Pretty PopsiclesChallenge is to use three or more bright colors- lime green, purple, orange, pink or yellow.

Stamp the large doily image from Lacy & Lovely using Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie and Strawberry Slush onto Whisper White cardstock.

Punch out the center with the 1 ¼” Circle and then punch again using the 1 ¾” Circle Punch.

Mix the color centers and arrange onto Whisper White cardstock and add the Gumball Green leaves from the Little Leaves Sizzlit™.

Emboss the entire panel with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and mount onto Gumball Green cardstock.

Add the banner sentiment and adhere to the Whisper White card base.

Stamp Sets:  Lacy & Lovely

Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Slush

Paper: Whisper White, Gumball Green

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Square LatticeTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Punches- 1” Square, 1 ¼” and 1 ¾” Circle

The JUN13VSNK BrightStar Challenge is to create a sunrise or sunset along with adding a star so I decided to create the image within the star

Use the Big Shot™ with the Stars Bigz™ Original Die to cut out the star mask and sponge the sunset image within the negative image of the largest star onto Whisper White cardstock.

Add the botanical images from Le Jardin Bontanique using Basic Gray Classic Ink.
Mask the star image and use the Color Spritzer Tool with the Basic Gray Stampin’ marker to add a bit of texture and layer onto Basic Black cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment and layer onto Basic Black cardstock, add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon triple bow along with Pearls.
Adhere to the embossed Strawberry Slush cardstock base to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Le Jardin Bontanique

Ink: Soft Sky, Strawberry Slush, Old Olive, Basic Gray

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Strawberry Slush

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Argyle Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Star Original™ Die, Color Spritzer Tool, Sponge Daubers, Pearls, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon

The JUNVSN13M Water,Water Everywhere is to use watercolor and/or a water image on your card (I decided to use both :-))

The image was stamped with Basic Gray Classic Ink and watercolored using the AquaPainter™ with ink from the Basic Gay and Pacific Point Classic Ink pads.

Stamp the sentiment and use the Color Spritzer Tool along with the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write marker to add a bit of distressing.

Mount onto Pacific Point and Midnight Muse cardstock.

Add the watercolored panel behind the image- created with Whisper White cardstock, Pacific Point and Midnight Muse Classic Inks with the AquaPainter™ in a loose watery pattern.

Once dried, emboss with the Woodgrain LatticeTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and adhere to Pacific Point cardstock and again onto Midnight Muse cardstock.

Add the focal image along with torn corners of Woodgrain embossed Midnight Muse along with the fussy cut seashells and Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware.

Stamp Sets:  Uncharted Territory, Stipple Shells

Ink: Basic Gray, Pacific Point, Midnight Muse

Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Midnight Muse

Accessories:  Big Shot™, WoodgrainTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, AquaPainter™, Color Spritzer Tool, Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware

The JUN13VSNNLemonade Yellow is to create a monochromatic card using only yellow!

Wow, this one was a bit  difficult since I wanted to add black or another contrast color but I stuck with the challenge!

The Sunflower background image was stamped onto So Saffron cardstock using Crushed Curry Classic Ink and carefully cut out.

Added the Crushed Curry sentiment along with the small sunflower from Sunflower Serenade, Crushed Curry Dotted Grosgrain Ribbon bow and Pearls to finish off the card!

Stamp Sets:  Sunflower (background), My Friend (Chère Amie), Sunflower Serenade

Ink: Crushed Curry

Paper: Whisper White, So Saffron, Crushed Curry

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Lacy BrocadeTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, ½” Crushed Curry Dotted Grosgrain Ribbon, Pearls

The last creation for now is for the JUN13VSNO Beach Bum Inspirational Photo Challenge- it is such a cute image and I drew my inspiration from the towels and bright colors.

Again, this is a sponging, masking technique- create the Crushed Curry torn “strips” and stamp the Elegant Eggplant and Gumball Green images within the areas.

Add the sentiment, Rhinestones and layer onto the embossed background- quick and easy!

Stamp Sets:  A Round Array, Absolutely Fabulous

  1. Oh my goodness! Each and every one of these cards are amazing. I'm so impressed with your card using the straws. When I read about that technique at split coast it sounded like something I did not even want to try. You have definitely inspired me.
