Hi Stampers!
It’s time for the SUO88 SU-Only Challenge- with the arrival of
the new Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration, our theme is “Fun with New Toys”.
I decided to use the new Floral Spiral Die along with a few
other new “toys” and incorporated the color scheme with a brand new challenge site, The Card Concept. I chose to go with the style I feel the most comfortable creating, Shabby Chic but I may enter again with another style in the future :-)
If you have not visited either site yet, I hope you will do so. My fellow Design Teammates have created a wonderful array of samples of the “New Toys” and The Card Concept has a
gorgeous line-up as well.
To create this card:
With the new Scalloped Tag
Topper Punch, create a tag from Very Vanilla cardstock (it is difficult to see
the top of the tag since I had so much fun with the roses- lol! :-)). Using Early Espresso Classic Ink, repeatedly
stamp the script image from Notable Notions (“stamping off” first before
stamping onto the tag for a lighter image).
To distress the tag, use a
Sponge Dauber to lightly sponge Crumb Cake Classic Ink over the edges and round
the corners with the Envelope Punch Board.
Using Early Espresso
Classic Ink, stamp the new People Like You onto Very Vanilla cardstock and use
the Decorative Label Punch to punch out the sentiment (saving the flower
portion for a later project). Punch
another piece using the Decorative Label Punch from Early Espresso cardstock
and layer behind the sentiment image (first cut in half vertically and trim off
the excess points on the sides so it will only show at the top and bottom).
Use the Big Shot™ with the
new Scalloped Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Crumb
Cake Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Fancy Fan Whisper Textured Impressions™
Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Early Espresso DSP. Lightly sand both with the Sanding Block and
mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.
Add the ½” Crumb Cake Seam
Binding Ribbon strip to cover the seam of the DSP. Adhere the tag and sentiment to the card
front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and mount the entire panel onto your card
base.
Use the Big Shot™ with the
new Spiral Floral Originals™ Die to cut a large flower from Pink Pirouette
cardstock. Use the retired Crimper Tool
to crimp the paper (or you can just scrunch it up by hand to break up the
fibers) and use the Bone Folder to curve the scalloped edge a bit before
proceeding to the next step.
Once you feel the flower is
“distressed” enough, manually roll the spiral tightly (starting on the outside smallest
strip area) and continue to roll/wrap the cardstock around the spiral toward
the center. Apply Multi-Purpose Adhesive
to the center piece to hold the flower in shape or you can use a Hot Glue Gun
(I recently dusted my Hot Glue Gun off and am using it more frequently with our
Silicone Pad). If needed, here is the written tutorial atSplitcoaststampers to show the basic idea of the rolled flower.
On the smaller scallop
circle pieces, manually cut your spiral toward the center of each piece (I
usually cut a wavy spiral) and repeat the same steps as above. Once all of your flowers are created, lightly
sponge Crumb Cake Classic Ink onto the edges to distress a bit more.
Use the Bird Builder Punch
to punch out the leaves from Early Espresso Cardstock and create a triple bow
using the ½” Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon.
Adhere the flowers, leaves
and ribbon bow to the card front (I continued to use the Hot Glue Gun since it
was already heated up:-)) to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets: People Like
You, Notable Notions
