Hi
Stampers!
I
am having so much fun with my new stamps that I wanted to share a few more of
my creations. This card was created
using the new set, An Open Heart (love the images especially the Carolina Wren) and I decided to create a one layer card for
The Paper Players PP200 Challenge (chose one of the challenges that the Design Team chose from the last 200- this card is for Ann's choice PP142).
The main design is all on
one layer of Very Vanilla but I did add a frame of Basic Black and Baked Brown
Sugar to finish off the card- not sure if this still qualifies as one layer but thought I would submit since this challenge was the inspiration :-)
I
have one more card for the PP200 Challenge to share in a separate post and I
hope you will take the time (if you have not done so already) to visit The
Paper Players and check out all of the other Design Team entries as well as the
gallery- wonderful inspiration from all!!
To
create this card:
Ink
the bird stamp from An Open Heart using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp
onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
Re-ink the bird image and stamp onto a sticky
note or scrap piece of paper to use as a mask.
Carefully “fussy-cut” around the image for the mask and place it over
the stamped bird image on the cardstock.
Create
another mask for the ground layer and place onto the card. Using a Sponge Dauber, apply a bit of Crumb
Cake Classic Ink onto the upper part around the bird image and Baked Brown
Sugar Classic Ink for the ground area.
Keep
the masks in place and ink the leaf spray stamp using Crumb Cake Classic ink
and repeatedly stamp onto the card over the bird, re-ink the same stamp using
Baked Brown Sugar and stamp a few times as well.
Remove
the masks and color the bird using Stampin’ Write markers- Crumb Cake, Sahara
Sand, So Saffron and Baked Brown Sugar.
Use the Chalk Marker to add a few white highlights to the wings and use
the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to add a line around the ground area.
Ink
the splatter image from Gorgeous Grunge using Crumb Cake Classic Ink to add a
bit of distressing over the card and lightly sponge with additional Crumb Cake Classic Ink over the edges.
Ink
the sentiment stamp from Trust God using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp
onto the card front.
Trim
the panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim again and mount
onto the Baked Brown Sugar card base to finish off the card.
Stamp

ReplyDeleteI had to read the dialogue to believe the wren wasn't popped up on dimensionals! A gorgeous card - I've got that stamp set on my wish list because of the wren. Love what you've done with it.
ReplyDeleteJulie, your card is sweet and calming. I love your masking with watercoloring -not an easy thing to do sometimes! I love watercoloring and will have to be inspired by your creation and attempt a masking/watercolor card.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card -- thank you for the wonderful step-by-step directions, too!
