Blackberry Bliss Christmas- An Experiment with Ink on the Gelli Arts Printing Plate :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I have been having a great week organizing my craft area and decided to take a moment to create a few cards.   I love my new Gelli Arts Printing Plate and wanted to experiment with Stampin; Up! Classic Ink versus acrylic paint.

I decided to try a quick technique using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink for the Colour Me CMCC27 Challenge and create a Christmas card for my commitment to the CCC14 Splitcoaststampers Christmas Card Challenge.

I hope that you have a chance to visit both sites to check out all of the variety of designs and ideas!

To create the basic background:

Create a mask using scrap paper over the Gelli Arts® Printing Plate to create a horizon line and using a brayer, apply a thin layer of Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink over the sky area.

Ink the tree stamps from Lovely As A Tree using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink and stamp directly onto the Gelli Arts® Printing Plate.

Remove the mask and lay a piece of Whisper White cardstock over the printing plate, rub and lift off to reveal the print.  Lay another piece over the plate and lift off again for the “ghost” print.

The two cards in this post are created with the ghost print (the first prints were a bit too dark in the sky area).

To create the card focal images:

Ink the pine tree image from Lovely As A Tree using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink and using a piece of scrap paper to create a mask, mask the area and stamp the tree over the landscape.

Use a Sponge Dauber with Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink along with the masks to create the snow banks.

Use the Color Spritzer Tool with the Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write marker to add a bit of distressing.

To create the first card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the Window Frames Collection Framelits™ to cut the image out and also cut a frame from Blackberry Bliss cardstock.  Cut the Blackberry Bliss frame in half and adhere behind the focal image.

For the first card, use the Big Shot™ with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamp the sentiment using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink in the lower right hand corner.

Trim and mount onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock, trim again and mount onto Whisper White cardstock , trim and mount onto the Blackberry Bliss card base.

Mount the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

For the second card:

Repeat the same steps to frame the image.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock and a piece of Crumb Cake Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Trim the embossed piece of Whisper White cardstock and mount onto the Blackberry card base.  Add the strip of embossed Crumb Cake DSP and add the Blackberry Bliss die cut strips (cut with the Big Shot™ and the ODBD Beautiful Borders Die.

Stamp the sentiment using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out using the XL Oval Punch.  Layer onto two additional XL Ovals punched from Blackberry Bliss cardstock to create the frame for the sentiment.

Add the focal image and sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the Pearls to the sentiment and top corner of the focal image to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Holly Tag (ODBD)

Ink: Blackberry Bliss

Paper: Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Northern Flurry and Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plate, Brayer, XL Oval Punch, Pearls

I will need to work on perfecting this technique :-)  It does create a quick print and is a bit easiier than sponging and masking the entire scene (since the Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plate allows for multiple prints off one inking)  :-)

Thanks again for stopping by- have a great Monday!!
