Hi
Friends!!
I
had a chance to design a card today for the
Splitcoaststampers’ (SCS) Hope You Can Cling To HYCCT1508 “Add Some Strength” Challenge (take a favorite piece of cardstock or designer paper and add something to "strengthen it"). I also decided to incorportate the CanYou Case It CYCI#89 Sketch along with the SCS MIX-Ability MIX126 “What If?” Challenge.
I
have owned assorted Pearl-Ex® Mica Powders along with a bottle of Lumiere® Pearl White Acrylic Paint
for years (from Stampin' Up! back in 2003 or so) and have never had a chance to “play” with the two together, so I decided that today was the
day to see “what if” :-)
Trying to capture the "sheen" of the PearlEx Paint :-) |
The colors are wonderful and have a bit of a sheen that was difficult to capture in the photo but when you turn the card sideways, you can see the pearlized effect (you can see it a bit at the top of the photo, but trust me, each flower has a bit of sheen as well ) :-)
This is what the DSP looks like right out of the package- gorgeous on it's own :-) |
Again,
I hope you will take the time to visit the linked sites to check out their galleries-
wonderful inspiration from all!
To create this card:
Mix a small bit of the Pearl-Ex® Mica Powder with the Lumiere®
Pearl White Acrylic Paint to create a paint
(I used a paint brush along with a palette knife to mix into separate
wells in a paint palette).
Paint the leaves and flowers on the DSP (note- you may need to
spritz water onto your craft mat and thin the paint as needed). I used several colors for the entire panel
(see below under Ink for details).
Once you are satisfied with the flowers and leaves, use an
AquaPainter™ with Tip Top Taupe Classic Ink to fill in the areas around the
design along with a Tip Top Taupe Stampin’ Write Marker (spritzing the panel
with water as needed to soften the edges of the marker).
Dry this layer with the Heat Tool and when the panel is dry,
stamp the script image from the retired Notable Notions using Memento™ Tuxedo
Black Ink and gently wipe off the ink from the leaves and flowers (the Pearl-Ex®
acts as a resist).
Trim the panel into five pieces (per the sketch), mount onto
Very Vanilla cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Tip Top Taupe panel.
Trim the Tip Top Taupe panel, mount onto a piece of Very
Vanilla cardstock, trim one more time and mount onto the Tip Top Taupe card
front.
Stamp the sentiment with Tip Top Taupe onto Very Vanilla
cardstock, punch out (or hand cut) into a medium oval and mount behind the
Antique Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware frame.
Pierce holes for the brads, add the Antique Pewter Brads with
the frame and ribbon pulls to the card front and wrap the Natural Linen Thread
through the ends and attach behind the card front.
Mount the card front onto the Very Vanilla card base to finish
off the card.
