Trust in the Lord- A Scrap Card for Three Challenges :-)

Hi Stampers! 

I created this card for the Pals Paper Arts PPA167 Color Challenge along with a new challenge site for me, Word Art Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge #92 and the Stampin’ Royalty Challenge SR188 “It’s the Little Things” Challenge to use up small scraps (love being able to use up some of my scraps :-)).  

If you have not had the chance to drop in on any of these sites, I hope you will take the time to do so – again, wonderful inspiration!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the Chalk Talk Framelits™ to cut a tag from Basic Black cardstock and the Large Scallop Framelit™ to cut the edges of two Whisper White scrap cardstock pieces.  Emboss the scalloped pieces using the Delicate Accents (Lace) Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder. 

Use the Embossing Buddy® to de-static the Basic Black cardstock tag, stamp the sentiment from Trust God using Classic White Craft Ink and emboss with the Heat Tool and Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder.  Smudge a bit of White Craft Ink over the image using a Sponge Dauber. 

Use the AquaPainter™ to brush on Coastal Cabana Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Once dried, stamp the En Francais background stamp using Coastal Cabana Classic Ink and trim to size.  Adhere to a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock and then again onto Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.

Using a small scrap piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper (DSP), cut in half and adhered to Coastal Cabana cardstock to create the vertical band for across the card. 

Adhere the two embossed lace paper pieces across the bottom of the card, add the DSP band across the center (you cannot see it but there is a gap under the tag since I used scraps- our little secret :-) )  and mount the black cardstock tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  In fact, if you ever took my cards apart, all of the background layers have been punched in the center to use for future projects and to lower the weight of the card- again, our little secret :-)  We laugh and say they are "holy cards"- lol!!

Create the paper bow from scraps of the same DSP as the vertical band (two large ovals rolled in half and secured to a small scrap strip of DSP, add the two banner points for the tails).  Add the paper bow to the top of the tag using Mini Glue Dots®.

Create the four rolled flowers from Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock using the 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punch (cut into the circle towards the center and roll up- see the Splitcoaststampers tutorial here) and cut the leaves from Pistachio Pudding cardstock using the Bird Builder Punch.   

Add the flowers and leaves to the bottom of the card and one to the center of the bow using Mini Glue Dots®.

Stamp the postage stamp image from Postage Due onto Whisper White cardstock using Coastal Cabana Classic Ink and cut out by hand.  Adhere to a scrap piece of Basic Black and free cut by hand around the image to create a small frame.  Use the Postage Stamp Punch to punch out a piece of Whisper White, adhere the stamp image and mount to the cardstock using Mini Glue Dots® and a Stampin’ Dimensional®.

Add the Pearls to the centers of the flowers to finish off the card.

Quick Christmas- No Big Shot or Stamps :-)

Hi Again Stampers! 

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!  I wanted to create a card using this week’s Freshly Made FMS98 Sketch Challenge and decided to incorporate My Digital Studio (MDS) and start again on my Christmas cards (for the long neglected Splitcoaststampers CCC13 Christmas Card Challenge). 

Again, if you have not had a chance to visit either site yet,  I would highly recommend it- great inspiration from all!

Since this card does not have any actual stamping or Big Shot™ embossing/cutting, to me it is a clean, simple, fast and easy card (CAS) to assemble and create multiples- just what I need for making all of my 2013 Christmas cards :-)

To create this card:

Layout from MDS

On a piece of Winter Frost Designer Series Paper (DSP), use the Stampin’ Score to score a line at the top (for the upper element in the sketch) and mount this background DSP layer to a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Open MDS and insert the stamp brush set images from Christmas Lodge (tree and sentiment) along with the snowflake from Winter Post onto an 8 ½ x 11 page (see example of layout). 

***Hint *** I re-sized the images to fit and allowed room for trimming and for the punches (although I always seem to position a few too close so I print a few extra of the smaller images and sentiment for errors :-))

Print the page onto Whisper White cardstock using Black Printer Ink and cut the page so you can trim around the trees and sentiments as well as use the ¾” Circle Punch to punch out the smaller snowflakes and the 1” Circle Punch for the larger snowflakes.

Use a Stampin’ Write marker to lightly color the tree- I used Lucky Limeade (thought I was grabbing Old Olive- oops! :-)).

 *** Another hint ***- Do not apply too much of the marker or the printer ink will start to dissolve and color your marker (especially with lighter colors, it can muddy up” the marker tip and your image color).

Trim and adhere the tree image onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and mount onto the background panel.  Add the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® across the lower part of the tree image.

Use the two round punches (3/4” and 1” Circle Punches) to punch two additional circles for each snowflake from Basic Black cardstock and layer the two black circles together-spread the circles apart a bit so that they will create a small frame behind each of the snowflake images.   Add the snowflakes with Stampin’ Dimensionals® to the front of the card, attach the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow and mount the entire panel onto the Whisper White card base.

Add the Pearls to the snowflake center and upper right hand corner of the tree image to finish off the card.  

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Lodge, Winter Post (all MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Marker- Lucky Limeade (retired)

Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Winter Frost DSP

Accessories:  Punches- ¾” and 1” Circle, Pearls, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon

Thinking of You- Two Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!!

I just love the creative CCMC263 Sketch at Create with Connie and Mary and the gorgeous CQC201 Challenge at this week’s ColourQ. 

 If you have not had a chance to check out these sites yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful examples by all!

To create this card:

Ink the line art images from Field Flowers using Basic Gray Classic Ink and stamp the flowers and bud onto  piece of Calypso Coral Designer Series Paper  (I used a piece from the This and That Epic Day DSP pack).  Carefully cut out the images and using a Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write marker, highlight the petals and centers.

Stamp the stems of the flowers using Basic Gray onto a piece of Soft Sky cardstock.  Ink the En Francais background stamp using Night of Navy Classic Ink and stamp off twice before stamping onto the piece of Soft Sky cardstock (over stamping the stem images).  . 

Ink the line art image of the large floral stamp from Field Flowers (of course, clean before inking :-)) using Calypso Coral Classic Ink and stamp off before stamping randomly onto the Soft Sky background. 

Cut the images to the sketch and mount onto Night of Navy cardstock (*** Note ***  I used a 1 3/8" Cirlce Punch to round the corners of the lower piece but it did not work well on the Night of Navy layer since I tried to round off after I adhered the stamped panel, so I cut by hand...should have rounded the piece before adheriing the stamped panel :-)). 

Use the Big Shot™ with the Herringbone Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim to size and adhere to a piece of Night of Navy cardstock. 

Adhere the entire panel to the Soft Sky card base, add the sentiment layer, pearls, paper bow and Antique Brad to finish off the card. 

  ***NOTE***- The Paper Bow is very easy to make- 1).Punch out two Large Ovals from the retired Travel Log DSP and gently roll these two ovals in half and secure with a Mini Glue Dot at the end to hold together, 2). Cut a small rectangular strip of DSP and adhere the two "folded" ovals toward one another to form the "bow" leaving a small space in between, 3). Cut two additional strips approx. the width of the bow- in this case approx 3/4" wide and use the 1" Square Punch to create the banner points on one end and hand cut to a point on the other end, 4). Addhere these two strips behind the small rectangular strip under the bow to form the tails and 5). Add the Antique Brad to the center to finihs off the bow.   Add to the card using Mini Glue Dots- easy and you can enlarge your bow by using a larger oval punch :-) 

Add the hand cut flowers using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add highlights using the White Gel Pen ( I just followed the lines in the center of the flower and along the edges with the Gel Pen :-)).

Ink: Night of Navy, Calypso Coral, White Gel Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Soft Sky, This and That Epic Day DSP, retired Travel Log DSP

CAS Birthday for the Dynamic Duos

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to create a quick, easy Clean and Simple Card (CAS) using the Dynamic Duos DD#64 Colors (check out their Design Team and all of the other terrific cards in their gallery).

To create this CAS card:

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, layer the Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Add the Strawberry Slush cardstock layer to cover the seam as well as a scrap piece of the Daffodil Delight DSP.  Adhere to the Strawberry Slush layer onto the Whisper White cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Chalk Talk Framelits™ to cut out the large tag from a piece of Whisper White cardstock. 

Ink the Off The Grid stamp using Strawberry Slush Classic Ink and stamp onto the tag, add to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®. 

Punch out the flower from Strawberry Slush cardstock using the Pansy Punch and add the circle from the DSP (3/4” Circle Punch).

Add the flower, butterflies, ½” Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon bow and Rhinestones.

Stamp the sentiment from Simply Sketched (hostess set) using Strawberry Slush Classic Ink to finish off the card.

2013 Dare To Get Dirty- Card #6

Hi Again Stampers!

Here is the sixth (and final) card that I created as a sample maker for the 2013 Dare To Get DirtyChallenge at Splitcoaststampers (this one is for VDucthr).

Again, if you are a Fan ClubMember, the deadline to upload your creations today, August 5^th , and if you have not joined the Fan Club, I would highly recommend it!

To create this card:

Stamp the pheasant image from Walk in the Wild using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and carefully watercolor using the AquaPainter™ with Classic Ink from various ink pads (So Saffron, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Basic Gray, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Marina Mist).

Use the Color Spritzer Tool with the Early Espresso Stampin’ Marker to add a bit of distressing.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Window Frames Collection Framelits™ to cut out the image and cut another frame from Early Espresso cardstock (cut in half vertically to layer behind the focal image). 

 Use the Big Shot™ with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™  Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper (DSP)- mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock- add the 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon bow. 

Stamp the feather images using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Whisoer White cardstock, watercolor using the AquaPainter™ with Classic Ink from the So Saffron, Cajun Craze and Soft Suede ink pads.  Carefully cut the feathers in towards the center, fluff up to give the impression of real feathers. 

Add the feathers to the card front using Mini Glue Dots™, attach the Antique Brad along with the sentiment punched layer. 

Add to the Crumb Cake card base to finish off the card.

Ink: Early Espresso, So Saffron, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Basic Gray, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Marina Mist Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake

2013 Dare To Get Dirty- Card #5

Hi Again Stampers!

Here is the fifth card that I created as a sample maker for the 2013 Dare To Get Dirty Challenge at  Splitcoaststampers (this one is for tiffguam).

Again, if you are a Fan Club Member we would love to have you join in and participate- the deadline to upload your creations is August 5^th and if you have not joined the Fan Club, I would highly recommend it!

To create this card:

Using the Embossing Buddy®, de-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamp the script image using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.     Repeat the same steps with the coral, shrimp and Nantucket images. 

Using Sponge Daubers, first apply Pool Party, follow with Marina Mist and Midnight Muse Classic Ink.  Lightly wipe off the ink from the embossing.

Trim panel and adhere to a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock and add the Navy Satin Ribbon bow (from my stash). 

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Adhere to a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock, add the focal image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment using Midnight Muse Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, punch out using the XL Oval Punch (and punch two ovals from Midnight s use cardstock to layer behind the sentiment).  Punch a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock using the Modern Label Punch (split in two and adhere to the sides of the XL Oval).

Add the Antique Trinkets to the side and adhere to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and Pearls to finish off the card.

Ink: Versamark™, Pool Party, Marina Mist, Midnight Muse

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Midnight Muse

2013 Dare To Get Dirty- Card #4

Hi Stampers! 

I hope all of you had a great weekend!!  I wanted to share the other cards that I created for the Splitcoaststampers 2013 Dare To Get DirtyChallenge.  Again, if you are a Fan Club Member and are interested in participating, here are some of the details :-)

This card was created for the UnderstandBlueB challenge:

Stamp the Established Elegance images using Early Espresso and Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Color a few of the images with the Stampin’ Write Marker in Marina Mist. 

Punch the images with the 1” Square Punch, distress the edges using the Distressing Tool. 

Use a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake Classic Ink to “antique” the paper and adhere the pieces to a tag cut from Early Espresso cardstock with the Big Shot™ with the Chalk Talk Framelit™.

Distress the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper with the Distressing Tool and a Sponge Dauber using Crumb Cake Classic Ink, adhere to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock . 

Add an embossed piece of Whisper White cardstock – embossed with the Big Shot™ and the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Sponge Crumb Cake Classic Ink over the embossing, distress the edges and adhere to the bottom of the Early Espresso card base.

Add the 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon strip, add the Tea Lace Paper Doily, distressed tag and other elements (watercolored dress form, Everything Eleanor flowers and rolled flowers).

Stamp the sentiment from Wetlands using Early Espresso Classic Ink and distress in the same manner as above.

Adhere the 5/8” Early Espresso Triple Satin Ribbon bow and Pearls to finish off the card.

Ink: Early Espresso., Crisp Cantaloupe, Marina Mist

Hexagons and Butterflies- A Wonderful Color Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers! 

I hope you are having a great weekend so far!  As soon as I saw the fabulous CCMC262 colors from this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge   I decided to stay up late again (or early depending on your point of view) to create one more card. 

Again, if you have not done so yet, please take a moment to stop by and check them out!

As I studied this color combo, I knew that I had the perfect background image already printed and ready to go from My Digital Studio (MDS) so I pulled out my scraps to finish off the card.  

  

To create this card:

Print the images from MDS using the Six-Sided Hexagon Brush stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock (I resized and positioned the hexagons to create a piece of my own Designer Series Paper).  I fussy cut around the images and adhered them to a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock embossed with the Argyle Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Add a piece of 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon across the lower part of the card and adhere the flower (created from Whisper White, Bermuda Bay and Basic Black cardstock previously embossed with the now retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder).

Add the sentiment from MDS using the Watercolor Trio Stamp Brush Set onto Whisper White cardstock- punch out with the Large Oval Punch.  Punch two additional Basic Black ovals with the same punch and layer together to leave a bit of the cardstock show behind the sentiment.

Stamp the butterflies using Basic Black Classic Ink and punch out with their corresponding punch- adhere using Stampin’ Dimensionals®. 

Add the Pearls to the ribbon and the butterflies to finish off the card.
