Nautical Mixed Media Thinking of You

Hi Stampers!

I hope all of you are having a great day!   We had a wonderful time in worship this morning and I had a chance to create a card this afternoon using the Pals Paper Arts PPA259 Color Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers' Mix-Ability MIX127 "Red, White and Blue" Challenge (see details here and gallery here), the Hand Stamped Sentiments HSSIC215 Inspiration Challenge as well as the TGIF Challenge! TGI11 Sketch and the Addicted to Stamps and More #152 “Make Your Mark” Challenge (the last two are "new" challenge sites for me :-)). 

Again, if you have not visited the challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- terrific Design Team designs and as well as their galleries!!

To create this Mixed Media card:

Use Ranger® Tim Holtz® Picket Fence Distress Stain to tone down the Pacific Point striped Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the retired High Tide.

Using a sewing machine, stitch the panel onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and distress the edges with the retired Distressing Tool. 

Adhere the distressed panel to a piece of Real Red  cardstock and mount onto the Pacific Point card base.

Create a tag from Whisper White cardstock (approx. 1 ¾” wide) and stamp the coral, seahorse and Nantucket images from By The Tide using Pacific Point Classic Ink.  

Ink the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge with Pacific Point Classic Ink, stamp off onto scratch paper and stamp onto the tag.

Stamp the script image repeatedly using Real Red Classic Ink, create the top of the tag with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and mount onto a piece of Real Red cardstock (also using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch to create the top of the tag).

Stamp the coral image using Pacific Point onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, punch out the image using the 2 ½” Circle Punch and mount another 2 ½” Circle of Real Red cardstock behind the coral image and adhere this element onto the card front per the sketch.

Mount the tag to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the Real Red paper bow (created with the Bow Builder Punch) along with the retired silver Star Brad.

Stamp the lobster image using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, color using an AquaPainter™ with Real Red Classic Ink pad and the Stampin’ Write Real Red marker and carefully “fussy-cut” out the image. 

Use the Big Shot™  to cut the anchor die cut from Silver Foil and add the Natural Linen Thread “rope”- adhere to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and a Mini Glue Dot (under the bow).

De-static a piece of Pacific Point cardstock using the Embossing Buddy and stamp the sentiment from Wetlands with Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss White Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Trim the sentiment, create the banner points with the Hexagon Punch, mount onto a piece of Silver Foil, trim and create the banner points again using the Hexagon Punch and repeat the above steps once more with Real Red cardstock.

Mount the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® on the left hand side and regular adhesive flush with the tag on the right.

Add the lobster to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Christmas In July- A Christmas Rose for a Color and Sketch Challenge :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

This card was created for the Our Daily Bread Designs ODBDSLC245 Color Challenge along with the Tis' The Season TTS46 Sketch Challenge and is one of the designs for my CCC15 Christmas Card Challenge at Splitcoaststampers (a personal commitment to create cards each month- see gallery here).

Again, if you have not visited the challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- terrific Design Team designs and as well as their galleries!!

To create this card:

Stamp the floral image from the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Christmas Rose set and the sentiment from Blessed Christmas (ODBD) using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the rose image using Stampin’ Write markers- Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, Primrose Petals along with Mossy Meadow and create shadows with Sahara Sand.  Add a few white highlights with the White Gel Pen. 

Use the Big Shot™ along with the MFT Stitched Square Die to cut out the image and mount onto a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock.

Use a 1” Square Punch to create the photo corners from Primrose Petals and Mossy Meadow cardstock and adhere to the corners.

Create the banner points on the sentiment using the Hexagon Punch and mount onto a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock (using the punch to create the banner as well).

Mount a piece of designer paper from the ODBD Heart and Soul Collection to a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock.

Add the Primrose Petals embossed panel and the strip of Mossy Meadow cardstock along the angled seam (the Primrose Petals piece was in my scraps and had been previously embossed with the retired Fancy Fan Textured Impressions™ Embossing  Folder).

Add the focal image and sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and adhere Pearls to the corners of the focal image.

Adhere the Silver Cord loops behind the focal image and sentiment using Glue Dots™ to finish off the card.

Under the Sea- A Mixed Media Card for a Color, Sketch and Doodling Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I had a chance to stamp last night and created a card using the CMCC79 Colour Me..! Striking Challenge along with the FabFri68 Sketch Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers Mix-Ability MIX128 “Doodley-Doo” Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit the above sites- fabulous Design Team creations as well as gorgeous galleries and inspiration from all! 

To create this card:

Trim a piece of Whisper White cardstock and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Using the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge, add splatter with Marina Mist and Bermuda Bay Classic Ink.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and mount the entire panel onto the Bermuda Bay card front.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Marina Mist and Bermuda Bay Classic Ink and create a wash onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Trim the panel and use Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink to stamp the coral image from By The Tide and the script stamp (re-inking and repeatedly stamping the script image) above the coral.

Use a paint brush to apply Titanium White Acrylic Paint and mount the panel onto Basic Black cardstock.

Stamp the seahorse and Nantucket images as well as the jellyfish using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use the ¾” Circle Punch to punch out the Nantucket image and also punch a circle from Basic Black cardstock.  Split the Basic Black circle in half and adhere behind the Nantucket image.   Mount the Nantucket image onto the focal image panel.

Color the seahorse and jellyfish images with the AquaPainter™ using Marina Mist and Bermuda Bay Classic Ink.

Fussy cut the images,  add additional details with the Faber-Castell Pitt Pen White marker on the seahorses and Frost White Shimmer Paint for the jellyfish.

Mount the seahorses and jellyfish onto the focal image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Use a Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen Medium Black Marker to add the doodling by hand around the focal image panel.

Add the Rhinestones to finish off the card

SUO126 Timeless Elegance Anniversary- Two Versions :-)

Hi Stampers!   

It’s time for the new SUO126 "Designer Paper” Challenge!  

I decided to use the beautiful Timeless Elegance Designer Paper (DSP) – this paper is gorgeous on its own or you can add color (as I did in my second sample).

 I also incorporated the FabFri67 Color Challenge (all of the new In-Colors and I used all of the colors in my card) along with the FM215 Friday Mashup! "It's All Aboutg Three" Challenge (I have three vertical panels as well as three main roses :-)). 

I hope you will find the time to check out all the rest of our Design Team ideas at SUO Challenges as well as those at the other two challenge sites- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create the Basic Black and Vanilla version of the card:

Original Black and Vanilla version :-)

Cut the Timeless Elegance DSP into three panels and mount onto Basic Black cardstock.

Trim a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and adhere to the Basic Black card base.

Add the three vertical panels of layered DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals®. 

Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, trim and create the banner points with the Banner Punch.

Adhere a strip of Basic Black cardstock across the vertical panel and add the sentiment.

Use the Bow Builder Punch to create the Basic Black bow and add the Antique Brad to the center (I cut off the tails on the brad and adhered directly to the center of the bow).

Mount the bow to the card front to finish off the card.

Even though I loved the look of the Black and Vanilla only, I felt that I wanted to add color, so I decided to color in the images :-)

To create the “watercolor” version of the card:

Repeat the same steps as above.

Using an AquaPainter™, apply Watermelon Wonder to the large roses, Mint Macaron along with Cucumber Crush to the leaves, Delightful Dijon to the flower centers and Tip Top Taupe to the background.

So, which one do you prefer- the “watercolored” version or the original?  I am having a tough time deciding- IRL, the colored version seems a bit "richer" in appearance and the roses have a velvety look to them (remember not to use too much water) :-)

The Wilderness Awaits- Thinking of You :-)

Hi Again Stampers! 

I wanted to share another card that I designed using the RS171 Retro Sketches Challenge along with the Paper Players PP252 Ann's Theme Challenge (The Great Outdoors).

 

As soon as I saw the theme, I thought of the new stamp set, The Wilderness Awaits  I just love the realistic animal images in this set and for some reason, this elk image seemed to call out- use me- lol!!

This was a quick, easy card to create- ink the sentiment and elk image using Stāz-On®

Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock, color the elk with a Tip Top Taupe marker and AquaPainter™, layer the retired DSP onto Early Espresso and Pool Party cardstock, add the embossed woodgrain panels and frame the image using a stitched die and layering.

Add a clip with some ribbon along with the banner sentiment to finish off the card.

Happy Birthday- Summer Silhouette Style :-)

I wanted to share another card that I created last night for the CCMC362 Color Challenge at Create with Connie and Mary along with the Seize the Birthday 07/02/15 "Red, White and Blue" Challenge ( Lost Lagoon is sort of blue…but you do not have to do the “topping option” as long as it is a Birthday card) along with the Splitcoaststampers CAS326 Wildflowers Challenge (see details here and gallery here)   :-)

This was a nother quick, easy card to create :-) :

Ink the floral stems and leaves with Lost Lagoon Classic Ink and stamp onto Crumb Cake cardstock, add the flower tops with Real Red Classic Ink and add a few highlights with the Gel Pen.

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment using Real Red Classic Ink onto a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto the Real Red card base.

Stamp the lattice border using Real Red Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a scrap piece of Real Red cardstock.

Mount the focal image to the card front and add the lattice border layer.

Create a Real Red cardstock bow using the Bow Builder Punch and adhere the Antique Brad to the center (I remove the brad points and use adhesive to adhere the brad to the bow). 

Mount the bow to the card front to finish off the card.

Not sure if I am pleased with this card- it feels like something is missing,- maybe I will add some Pearls before I mail this one :-)

Summer Fun with A Color, Sketch and Theme Challenge :-)

Hi Again Stampers! 

I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend!  My hubby had to work the whole weekend, so I decided to spend some time designing cards :-)  Any excuse to spend time crafting, right??

I just love the fresh color combination in this week’s Pals Paper Arts PPA258 Color Challenge, so I pulled out my new stamp set, Awesomely Artistic and combined it with the Freshly Made Sketches FM193 Sketch Challenge and the Simon Monday “Summer”Challenge. .

 Flowers and dragonflies definitely remind me of the summer vacations that we would take to rural New Yorl- my grandparents had a cabin on a river and the dragonflies would be flitting around as well as the blossoming summer flowers...I remember as a young child chasing the rabbits and trying to catch one :-)  Oh, to be a kid again- lol!!

This was a quick, easy card to create- stamp the images using Stāz-On® Midnight Blue ink onto Whisper White cardstock, color with Stampin’ Write markers, trim and mount onto Night of Navy and Cucumber Crush cardstock.

Add a few Rhinestones and you are finished!

Corner Garden- Monochromatic Red with Black :-)

Hi Stampers!

Here is another card using watercolor with a Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen Black marker for the shadows and dark background :-)

This card was designed using the Colour Me! CCMC78 Monochromatic Color Challenge using Real Red.

I hope you will have the time to stop by the Colour Me! Site to check out the inspiration from their fabulous Design Team as well as the other wonderful gallery entries!

To create this card:

Using Stāz-On® Jet Black, stamp the Corner Garden background onto a piece  of Whisper White cardstock.

Using an AquaPainter™ with Real Red Classic Ink, apply a wash of color building up layers over the flowers.  Add additional Real Red to the flowers using the Stampin’ Write marker and softening the edges with the AquaPainter™.

Use a Going Grey Stampin’ Write marker for the leaves (over the Real Red  Classic Ink) and create the shadows with a Faber-Castell®  1.0 Black Pitt Pen Marker (I originally had a Real Red  watercolor wash for the background but it was a bit streaky so I ended up coloring over it with the Pitt Pen marker).

When the panel is dry, add a few white highlights with the Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen Marker.

Cut the corner off with the Big Shot™ and the Circle Collections Framelit™- trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black, trim the Whisper White panel, mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Real Red card base to finish off the card.

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Real Red, Stampin’ Write Markers- Real Red, Going Gray; Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen Markers- 1.0 Black, White 101
