Cast Your Cares

Hi Friends!

This week on the Stamp Simply blog, the Design Team has been sharing sympathy/encouragement cards.

Unfortunately, it seems as though I have been mailing quite a few of these type of cards lately.  We have lost almost 30 people in our church this past year (including my beloved hubby) not to mention there has been a lot of illness/surgeries, etc.  Our church has approx. 700 in attendance and around 20% are over 60. They say that you reach a certain point when you have more friends in heaven than on earth.  I am not there yet but getting closer....

When I send a sympathy, get well or encouragement card, I tend to prefer to use Scripture on the front so that the recipient has the option to display the card year round (if they desire to do so).  This card was for good friend of mine who lost her mother.

I pulled out stamps and dies along with other supplies from Stamp Simply for this poppy card.

I enjoy participating with online challenges and will be linking to the Festive Friday #FF0126 Wear Red Day Challenge (Red, Ribbon and Texture) along with the Tic-Tac-Toe #193 Featured Designer Silke Challenge (center row down- Flower, Vintage and Ribbon) and the Word Art Wednesday #579-#580 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

This card incorporates several layering steps including a bit of water coloring.

The poppy flower image was stamped with black ink, colored with water-based markers and die-cut with their coordinating die.

The large script stamp from the Pretty Poppies Bundle was heat embossed using Versamark ink and white embossing powder onto white cardstock (it is hard to see this in the photo but it is on the flat panel in the upper area behind the flowers).

Another piece of white cardstock was dry embossed with a 3D brick embossing folder, the edges were torn before layering the panel onto the heat embossed background panel.

Lace and ribbon were layered before adding the heat embossed sentiment and floral image.

As I mentioned in my previous post regarding any of the techniques, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comment area below.

Happy Birthday with God's Beauty

Hi Stampers!!

I had a chance to play in my craft room last night and decided to create a card using the FabFri70 Sketch Challenge along with the Friday Mashup FM221 "Fields of Flowers" Challenge and the Seize the Birthday 08/13 Anything that Flies Challenge.

I decided to pull out a few retired sets that needed some “love” :-)

Again, if you have not already done so, I hope you will find the time to visit the above challenge sites to check out the inspiration from their Design Teams as well as their wonderful galleries!

To create this card:

Stamp the floral, stem and butterfly images from the retired set, God’s Beauty using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Classic Ink from Delightful Dijon, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry to color the images.

Carefully cut out (“fussy-cut”) each image, use a foam brush to apply ModPodge® to the butterfly image (this helps to stabilize the image and give it a bit of strength) and set aside to dry.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Brick Wall Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and a piece of Old Olive with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Trim the Brick Wall embossed panel and mount onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

Trim the Woodgrain embossed panel and mount onto the Rich Razzleberry card base.

Add the Brick Wall layered panel to the card front.

Stamp the sentiment from Express Yourself using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

Add the sentiment to the Brick Wall embossed panel and mount the stems, flowers and butterfly.

Use the White Gel Pen to highlight the center of the flowers and when dry, apply Crystal Effects™ to the centers.

Add a few Pearls to the corner to finish off the card.
