Fear Not, For I Am With You...

Hi Friends!

I hope you are having a great week so far!  Tonight I am sharing my Mixed Media card that I created for the Splitcoaststampers' Free For All F4A320 “A Striking Combo...Red and Teal” Challenge along with the the FUSION “Orchid Occasions”Challenge (I was inspired by the orchids and the draping of the flowers) and  Happy Little Stampers April 2016 Mixed Media "Wings" Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge site galleries yet, again, I highly encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the Choose Happiness flowers using Versamark™ Ink, stamp onto the prepared cardstock, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Once the embossing powder has cooled, color the flowers using the AquaPainter™ with ink from the Real Red Classic Ink pad, dry carefully with the Heat Tool, use the Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker to add additional color, spritz with water and allow to dry.

Carefully fussy cut the flowers and set aside.

Ink the Timeless Textures grid stamp with Real Red Classic Ink, stamp off and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Ink the flourish stamp from Timeless Textures using Island Indigo Classic Ink, stamp off and stamp onto the background.

Add the Real Red border using the Timeless Textures strip border stamp and add the Island Indigo splatters with the small splatter stamp in the Timeless Textures stamp set.

Ink the sentiment from Rose Wonder with Island Indigo and add to the background panel.

Ink the leaves from Choose Happiness with Versamark™ Ink, stamp onto the background, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.   Once the leaves cool, color with the Island Indigo Stampin’ Write Marker, spritz with water and dry lightly with the Heat Tool.

Ink the Papillon Potpourri butterfly stamp with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock, add a bit of Island Indigo Classic Ink with an AquaPainter™, dry with the Heat Tool and punch out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch.

Add Clear Wink of Stella® to the wings and darken the edges with a Faber-Castell® Black Pitt Pen marker.

Trim the background panel and mount onto the Whisper White card base using dimensional foam, add the flowers and butterflies to the card front and add white highlights to the flower centers with the Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen Marker.

Add the Pearls to the center of the butterflies to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Choose Happiness, Papillon Potpourri, Rose Wonder, Timeless Textures

SUO128 Butterflies- A Process of Change :-)

Hi Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO128 “Butterflies” Challenge!  Another difficult decision  since we have so many fun butterfly stamps, punches and dies!  I decided to use one of my all-time favorites, Papillon Potpourri with the matching Elegant Butterfly Punch  (please check out all of my fantastic Design  Team members samples here) :-)

I also incorporated the Splitcoaststampers’ CC541 Color Challenge (see the details here and gallery here- did not partake in the “dessert” option of ribbon :-) ).

This card looks very different than my original intention but this is how I created and then "salvaged" it:

Ink the floral image from You’ve Got This using c and stamp the blossom with only part of the stem onto Whisper White cardstock (re-ink  and stamp another blossom onto a
scrap piece of paper or sticky note).

Carefully cut out the image that you stamped onto the sticky note or scrap paper and cover the blossom on the Whisper White cardstock, re-ink the stamp image and stamp again.

Continue this process until you have the number of blossoms you desire.

Use an  AquaPainter™ with Rose Red Classic Ink to color the blossoms, then add additional color with the Rose Red Stampin’ Write marker (building up layers of color and softening the edges with the AquaPainter™).  Not part of the color challenge but I did add a bit of Delightful Dijon to the flower centers :-)

Stamp the sentiment from Trust God using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and mask a flower at a time as you apply Mint Macaron and  Tip Top Taupe Classic Ink to the background with Sponge Daubers.

Ink the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Tip Top Taupe and stamp around the background (if you have not figured this out yet, this is my favorite go-to stamp for splatter).

At this point, I was not pleased with the entire background so I decided to cut the flowers around the edges and trim off some of the background at the top.

Mount the trimmed background panel onto a piece of Whisper White k, trim again and mount onto a piece of Mint Macaron, trim once more and mount onto a piece of Tip Top Taupe, trim one last time and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Stamp the butterflies onto Whisper White cardstock using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink  and sponge a bit of Tip Top Taupe over the images (originally I had colored the butterflies with Rose Red and Mint Macaron , but they totally disappeared into the background so I saved those for a different day and started over with the white butterflies :-)

Punch out the butterflies with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and add to the card front.

Once I added the butterflies, I decided that the sentiment needed to be layered, so I pulled off the one butterfly, re-stamped the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, punched out with the Note Tag Punch, layered onto Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe (also punched with the Note Tag Punch and trimmed off the edges), then re-mounted the sentiment onto the cardstock and re-mounted the butterfly....

Whew! What a process!

Add the Pearls to the butterflies and corners along with White Gel Pen accents to the flower centers to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets:  You’ve Got This, Papillon Potpourri, Trust God, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Rose Red, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe; Stampin’ Write Markers- Rose Red, Delightful Dijon, Sahara Sand; White Gel Pen
Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe
Accessories: AquaPainter™,  Sponge Daubers, Punches- Elegant Butterfly, Note; Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by – I hope to see your Stampin’ Up! Only project in our “Butterflies” Challenge gallery!

CCC11 Vintage Butterfly Friend

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create a card using the Creative Club Challenge CCC11  Color Challenge and decided to ink up a few stamps that I have had for years, but again, they had not seen ink yet…need to start using up my "stash" of supplies :-)

If you have not had a chance to visit the Challenge site, I hope you will find the time to do so- this is a new challenge for me ( I did not see any particular rules to play)....they have a wonderful Design Team as well as tremendous inspiration from their galleries!!

To create this card:

Using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, stamp the butterfly and moth image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Color the butterflies and moths using Stampin’ Write markers- Island Indigo, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Basic Black.  Add a few white highlights using the Chalk Marker.

Also stamp another image onto scrap paper or a sticky note- mask the images and ink the background stamp using Early Espresso Classic Ink (this was my fourth color that I could choose to add :-)) and stamp over the masked images.

Using a Sponge Dauber, add Ranger™ Jim Holtz® Old Paper Distress Ink followed with Early Espresso around the edges to ”antique” the paper.

Using Early Espresso Classic Ink, stamp the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge to add more distressing.

Mount the panel onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, trim and adhere to a piece of Island Indigo cardstock and add the 3/8” Venetian Crochet Trim along the side.

Stamp the sentiment from Choose Happiness using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Use a Sponge Dauber with Ranger™ Jim Holtz® Old Paper Distress Ink and trim the sentiment into the banner shape (use the Hexagon Punch to create the banner points).

With a Sponge Dauber, add Early Espresso around the edges to ”antique” the paper. Huff onto the Gorgeous Grunge splatter stamp to re-moisten the ink and stamp onto the sentiment layer.

Mount the sentiment onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the ¼” Island Indigo Triple Satin Ribbon bow along with the Antique Brad.

Mount the panel onto the Early Espresso card base and finish off the card with Pearls in the corners.

Stamp Sets: Choose Happiness, Gorgeous  Grunge, Tim Holtz® Papillon Stamp Set

Ink:  Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Early Espresso; Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry, Island Indigo, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black; Ranger™ Jim Holtz® Old Paper Distress Ink

Paper: Whisper White, Island Indigo, Early Espresso

Accessories: Sponge Daubers, Hexagon Punch, Masking Paper, ¼” Island Indigo Satin Ribbon (retired), Antique Brad, 3/8" Venetian Crochet Trim,  Pearls

Thanks again for visiting- have a great Thursday my friends!

As Time and Memory Bring Healing- A CAS card for the PPA211 Color Challenge

Hi Again Stampers!

I love the colors for this week’s Pals Paper Arts PPA211 Challenge so I created two cards using the colors (usually when I have the colors out for a color challenge it is difficult to only create one card – lol!!)   I will share the second card in a separate post since it also qualifies for a sketch challenge :-)

Again, I hope you will find the time to visit the Pals Paper Arts site- they have a fabulous Design Team and so many entries in their weekly gallery!

To create this Clean and Simple (CAS) card:

Ink the background stamp, Corner Garden using Night of Navy Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Color the blossoms using the Night of Navy Blendabilities™ Collection and add a few details with the Night of Navy Stampin’ Write marker and the Chalk Marker.

Using a Sponge Dauber, lightly sponge a bit of Night of Navy Classic Ink around the flower’s edge.

Use the retired Color Spritzer Tool with the Night of Navy Stampin’ Write marker to add a bit of distressing.

Stamp the sentiment in the corner using Night of Navy Classic Ink and adhere the panel onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the butterflies using Night of Navy Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Color using the Daffodil Delight Blendabilities™ and use the Night of Navy Stampin’ Write marker to darken some of the areas on the wings.

Add the butterflies to the panel to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Corner Garden, Papillon Potpourri, Bloom with Hope

Ink: Night of Navy, Stampin’ Blendabilities™- Daffodil Delight and Night of Navy Collections, Night of Navy Stampin’ Write marker, Chalk Marker
Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Night of Navy
