TCC124 Christmas Bauble

Hi Friends!

This beautiful photo of ornaments reminded me of the retired Stampin’ Up! Christmas Bauble a la carte  stamp that was in the SU! catalog in 2014.

Since I am still trying to limit my spending and use the stamps that I already own, I paired this ornament stamp with the sentiment from the retired Bells & Boughs set (also SU!).

I was inspired by the different shades of blue, teal and aqua as well as the patterns on the ornaments and silver accents to create a Classy and Elegant/ Mixed Media card.

I decided to use the Splitcoaststampers SC251 Sketch Challenge for the layout (FYI-their sketch challenges never expire and this one is from May 2010).  I have made it a personal goal to try eventually to do all their sketches (they have over 770+ right now and I have completed possibly a third so far, lol)!

I am also linking to the Addicted to Stamps and More #368 Holiday Challenge along with the Word Art Wednesday #414-#415 “Anything Goes” Challenge and the Retro Rubber BlogChallenge #124 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (diagonal- metallics, die cut /punch and twine- I used silver cord, hope that qualifies as twine :-))-Bells & Boughs is from 2010 and Christmas Bauble is from 2014.

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the Christmas ornament image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Use water-based markers and distress oxide inks to watercolor the ornament, layering color as needed.  Once the colors are to your satisfaction, apply Frost White Shimmer Paint over several areas on the ornament area and Platinum on the silver areas.

Fussy cut the ornament and add dimensional foam (or chipboard) behind the image, set aside.

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto a piece of Island Indigo cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the sentiment with Versamark™ ink, apply silver embossing powder, heat set with a heat tool.  Die cut with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto Island Indigo cardstock, trim close to the edge.

Die cut the designer papers with stitched square dies, mount onto Island Indigo cardstock, trimming close to the edge.

Mount the designer paper layers onto the card front per the sketch (I split the Pool Party layer in half), then mount the sentiment layer with dimensional foam (or chipboard).

Add the ornament with dimensional foam, looping the silver cord in the top and wrapping the ends of the silver cord behind the panel.

Mount the entire panel onto the front of a white card base.

Punch the leaves from silver foil using a leaf punch, adhere behind the ornament.

To finish off the card, use an extra fine white paint pen to add highlights to the ornament and a few rhinestones to the corners.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Bauble, Bells & Boughs  (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Versamark™, Tim Holtz™ Distress Oxide- Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn; Stampin’ Write Markers- Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Lemon Lime Twist, Tempting Turquoise, Island Indigo; Frost White and Platinum Shimmer Paint, Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Island Indigo, Silver Foil; retired Winter Frost designer series paper (all Stampin’ Up!)

Tools/Accessories: Big Shot™, Dies- My Favorite Things™ Stitched Rectangle A2 STAX Set 1,  Stitched Square STAX; Embossing Buddy®, Clear and Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Silver Cord, Martha Stewart Branch Punch, Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to stop !by  I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Ornate Ornaments}  photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see your interpretation!! The challenge is open until Monday, December 2nd at noon, EST.

Another Christmas in April- A Vintage Mixed Media Card

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to create a Mixed Media card using the Splitcoaststampers’ Mix-Ability MIX116 “Fill It In” Challenge- this is a challenge to partially stamp an image and fill in the unstamped area with your own design such as doodling, etc. (see details here and gallery here).

I did not have too many images that I thought would work with this technique, but finally chose this retired Christmas stamp and hand drew additional holly leaves and berries on the right hand side of the ornament :-)

I also incorporated a watercolor background for the Splitcoaststampers' WT527 Challenge (see details here and gallery here) as well the CC512 Challenge colors again (since they were still on my desk)- see details here and gallery here.

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit the above sites- the Splitcoaststampers Design Team creations are always fabulous as well as the galleries!

To create this card:

Use a foam brush to apply Gesso® to a piece of Natural White cardstock and allow the panel to dry (or you can use a Heat Tool to speed up the drying process).

Once dried, apply Champagne and Silver Metallic Faber-Castell Gelatos® spritz with water and spread to cover the panel. Continue to layer a few more colors- Iced Chai and Metallic Melon, again spritzing with water and drying with the Heat Tool.

Ink the retired Christmas Collage background stamp with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp over the panel  (lightly pressing in certain areas to give the impression of an aged image).

Apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains- Bundled Sage, Festive Berry, Picked Raspberry and Chipped Sapphire, spritz with water, turn to allow the stain to spread onto the prepared panel and dry with the Heat Tool.

Carefully dab off the color using a cloth in areas where the stain is too dark (until you are satisfied with the results).

Use a foam brush to apply Mod Podge® over the panel and allow to thoroughly dry.

Trim and mount onto a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

Ink the Christmas Bauble stamp using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and use a baby wipe to remove part of the image on the right (opposite the holly at the top of the ornament).

Use a Faber-Castell® Black XS Pitt Pen marker to draw the holly and berries into the ornament side on the right and add a few holly leaves at the bottom of the ornament to balance the design.  Also draw the lines on the ornament to create the “ribbon” stripes.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Classic Ink to color the ornament- Blushing Bride as a wash over the ornament, Mossy Meadow for the leaves and Rich Razzleberry for the stripes, berries and loops areas in the center.

Once dried, use Stampin’ Write Markers to add more definition and shadows- Blushing Bride for the lighter areas of the ornament, Rich Razzleberry for the stripes and berries, Mossy Meadow for the leaves and shadows with Sahara Sand.

Use a White Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen marker to add highlights to the berries and scallops on the ornament.

Fussy-cut the modified ornament image, add a layer of Mod Podge® over the entire image and once dried, add the gold cord around the top of the ornament and mount to the background panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Mount the entire panel onto the Blushing Bride card base.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink (or use a My Digital Studio image printed onto Whisper White cardstock- which is what I used for this card).

Punch the image with the XL Oval Punch, use an AquaPainter™ to apply a wash of Blushing Bride Classic Ink and stamp the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Sahara Sand Classic Ink.

Once the sentiment is dry, use a Sponge Dauber to apply Sahara Sand Classic Ink to the edges, adhere to two Rich Razzleberry ovals punched from the XL Oval Punch (overlapped and mounted behind the sentiment so you can only see a bit of the Rich Razzleberry layer) and add a layer of Mod Podge®.

Add the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and finish off the card using Pearls in the center of the ornament.

Stamp Sets: Christmas Bauble, Christmas Collage, Bells & Boughs (MDS verison)

Ink: Blushing Bride, Mossy Meadow, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand; Stampin’ Write markers- Blushing Bride, Mossy Meadow, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand;  Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains- Bundled Sage, Festive Berries, Picked Raspbe, Chipped Sapphire; Faber-Castell® Metallic Gelatos®- Champagne, Silver, Iced Chai, Melon, White and Black Pitt Pen Markers

Paper: Naturals and Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry

Accessories: Gesso®, Foam Brush, Gold Cord, Mod Podge®, XL Oval Punch, Pearls

Mount a piece of Whisper White cardstock onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock for the background panel.  Add the Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze strips.

Adhere a piece of Park Lane DSP to a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock (rounding the corners with the Envelope Punch Board before adhering together) and mount this panel onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the retired Gold Cord to the ornament and mount the ornament to the panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Christmas Blessings- Stamp Etching along with a Sketch and Color Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

Here is second card that I created for the CC493 Splitcoaststampers' Color Challenge-Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon and Old Olive with the dessert option of “something recycled”- I decided to skip dessert on this card :-)

This is my last week as a Guest Designer for the Splitcoaststampers’ Color Challenge so I hope you will find the time to join in on the fun!  I have had a wonderful time with the ladies on the team and am so honored that they asked me to join them for August :-)

This card incorporates the FMS150 Sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and is also one of my August designs for the Splitcoaststampers’ Christmas Card CCC14 Challenge (this challenge is for your own commitment to stamp Christmas cards all year- I am a bit behind but am catching up- Christmas will be here before you know it)....

To create this Clean and Simple (CAS) card:

Stamp the Christmas Bauble image using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Very Vanilla  cardstock and color the images using Stampin’ Write markers- Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon and Old Olive.

Add the lines in the Lost Lagoon area of the ornament and the leaves using a 1.0 Sakura Pigma Micron™ Pen (this is the “stamp etching” technique highlighted at Splitcoaststampers- see tutorial here).  My etching is a bit more line to line and I did it very quickly (sorry for the woobly lines) but I still think this qualifies :-)

Use a Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker to add a few shadows and carefully cut out the image.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Delicate Designs (snowflake border) Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Stamp the sentiment above the embossing using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and trim the panel.

Add the retired Gold Twine to the top of the ornament and mount the ornament to the embossed panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the panel to the Very Vanilla card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and adhere a few Pearls to the center of the ornament to finish off the card.

Quick, easy and not too many layers- just the way I like it for Christmas cards :-)

Stamp Sets: Christmas Bauble, More Merry Messages

Ink:  Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Stampin’ Write markers- Calypso Coral, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive, Sahara Sand;  1.0 Sakura Pigma Micron™ pen

Paper: Very Vanilla

Accessories: Big Shot™, Delicate Designs Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, retired Gold Twine, Pearls

Oops!!  After creating the card and preparing to link up the challenge sites, I noticed that the FMS site closed at midnight PDT Monday (thought it was on Tuesday at noon- duh!! ) so I could not link to that challenge- good thing, since I noticed that I had one image on the card (versus two per the FMS150 sketch)...still wanted to give them credit for the sketch inspiration :-)

Thanks again for visiting- I hope all of you have a terrific Tuesday!!

Magical Season- A Sneak Peak at Christmas Bauble

Hi Stampers!

I had fun this weekend spending time with my husband (he rarely has a weekend off from work) and when he decided to watch the games and relax, I used the time to create a few cards :-)

This card was designed with the Pals Paper Arts PPA215 Color Challenge in mind as well as the CCC14 Christmas Card Challenge at Splitcoaststampers (which is a monthly commitment you set for yourself to create Christmas cards all year long- I am a bit behind :-))

Again, I hope you will take the time (if you have not done so already) to visit both sites to check out all of the other Design Team entries as well as the galleries- wonderful designs and inspiration from all!!

To create this card:

Stamp the ornament from Christmas Bauble (sneak peek from the upcoming Holiday Catalog) using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the ornament using a Stampin’ Write Pear Pizzazz (for the leaves and scroll design in the center), a Strawberry Slush marker for the berries and body of the ornament and a Basic Black marker for the top of the ornament.

Carefully cut out the ornament and use the Basic Black marker to color the edges of the ornament (use the side of the marker to hide the white edges).

Distress the ornament using Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Tea Dye Stain and once dried, re-color using the Pear Pizzazz and Strawberry Slush markers.

To tone down the Tea Dye color (it was a bit darker than I expected), apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Picket Fence Stain, spritz with water and wipe off the stain (to speed up the drying, use the Heat Tool).

Once dried, use a .005 Sakura Pigma Micron™ Pen to go over the black lines and add a bit of highlighting over the light colored portions of the ornament and the berries using the Chalk Marker.

Punch out the center of the ornament with the 1” Circle Punch and layer onto a circle of Basic Black cardstock (also punched with the 1” Circle Punch, split into two and spread apart a bit to create the border behind the ornament center).

Use the Embossing Buddy® to de-static a piece of Basic Black cardstock and stamp the sentiment using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss White Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool to melt the powder.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim the panel and adhere to a layer of Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

Add the sentiment layer onto the bottom of the Pear Pizzazz panel and adhere the crochet lace along with a strip of Pear Pizzazz cardstock to cover up the seam.  Mount the panel onto a Basic Black card base.

Add the Gold Trim around the ornament and mount the ornament using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to the card front.

Punch out the snowflakes from Whisper White cardstock and add to the panels on the card front.

To finish off the card, add the Pearls to the ornament center, strip above the lace and snowflake centers.

Stamp Sets: Christmas Bauble, Magical Season (retired)

Ink:  Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Versamark™, Stampin’ Write markers- Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Strawberry Slush;  Chalk Marker; Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stain- Tea Dye and Picket Fence

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz

Accessories: Big Shot™, Northern Flurry Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, 1” Circle Punch, retired Gold Trim, Pearls, crochet trim from my stash, Martha Stewart snowflake punch

Thanks again for taking stopping by- I will be posting a few more cards late tomorrow evening.   In the meantime, I hope all of you have a marvelous Monday!
