True Friends- Using Postage Due for a Theme, Color and Combination Challenge:-)

Hi Stampers!

I hope you are having a wonderful week so far!

I have been busy this past week designing and preparing for our Awana 5th and 6th Grade Girls’ Mother’s Day card/project (we had a great time and I will share after Mother’s Day :-)), so I have not been able to participate in my normal weekly challenges....can I say that I was starting to have withdrawal symptoms- lol!!

Before tackling the neglected housework this morning, I took some time to pull out some pre-printed My Digital Studio (MDS) images and create a quick card for The Paper Players PP243 "Travel" Theme Challenge along with the CCEE Stampers CCEE1519 "Self Made Flower and More" Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers CC529 Color Challenge (Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango and dessert option to use green- see details here and gallery here).

I have to admit that my cycling days are over but I love the soon-to-be retired Postage Due stamp set and wanted to highlight it along with the soon-to-be retired MDS one last time :-)

Again, if you have not stopped by any of the challenge sites yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- fantastic inspiration from all!!

To create this card:

Open a blank document in My Digital Studio (MDS), position the Postage Due images along with the sentiment from Friendly Words (re-sizing all a bit) and print out using Black Printer Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the following  to create part of the card elements:
The My Favorite Things (MFT) Stitched Rectangle Die to cut out the bicycle image and the Ovals Collection Framelits™ to cut out the sentiment.

Cut an oval frame from Basic Black cardstock with the MFT Dotted Scallop Oval Frame die and layer the oval cut sentiment onto the frame.

Use the MFT Royal Rose and Royal Rose Mini Dies to cut the flowers from Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango cardstock.  Use the Crimper Tool to crimp the flowers and hand roll each into their shapes (using Hot Glue to adhere the centers).

Use the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing  Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock (I used the debossed side since this piece was already in my stash and has a rejected stamped image on the other side- now you know my secrets :-)).

Layer the embossed Whisper White panel to a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Add the stitched rectangle bicycle image panel and mount a postage stamp image on an angle to cover up part of the white space near the sentiment area (in MDS I had covered the flower on the Postage Due image before printing using a Square Punch and filling in the color with Whisper White).

Hand cut out the postage stamp images and mount onto Basic Black cardstock (hand cutting around the frame as well- the images were too small for layering with the Postage Punch).

Mount the truck stamp images onto the Tangelo Twist Thick Baker’s Twine (knotted on the ends to create the banner) and add the Parisian stamp in the center.

Mount the banner onto the card front and add a Stampin’ Dimensional® behind the Parisian stamp.

Add the focal image oval frame using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and mount the flowers along with Wild Wasabi leaves (punched with the Martha Stewart Leaf Punch).

Use the Bow Builder Punch to create the Basic Black cardstock bow, mount to the top of the frame and add the Antique Brad to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Postage Due, Friendly Words (both MDS versions)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Wild  Wasabi

Accessories: Big Shot™,  retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Oval Collections Framelits™, Bow Builder Punch, Antique Brad, retired Tangelo Twist Thick Baker’s Twine; My Favorite Things- Dotted Scallop Oval Frame Die, Royal Rose and Mini Royal Roses Die, Stitched Rectangle Die; MS Leaf Punch

DD87 True Friends

Hi Stampers!

This week’s DD87 “Black Tie” Dynamic Duo Challenge combines BasicBlack with Melon Mambo and  I incorporated the Splitcoaststampers SC471 Sketch Challenge along with this week's colors.  These colors remind me of several friends who just love pink and so I created this card  with them in mind :-)  I also incorporated the Splitcoaststampers SC471 Sketch Challenge along with this week's colors

Again, I hope that you will find the time to stop by and check out the rest of the Dynamic Duos Design Team projects and create a project of your own using this week’s colors - we would love to have you join us!!

To create this quick, easy “hybrid” card:

Using My Digital Studio (MDS), open a new blank 8.5x11 document and insert the stamp brush set from Friendly Words.  Re-size a bit and print out onto Whisper White cardstock.  Use the Big Shot™ with the Oval Collection Framelits™ to cut out the sentiment and cut out another oval using Basic Black cardstock.  Split the Basic Black oval in half to adhere behind the sentiment layer.

Using Melon Mambo Classic Ink, stamp the flower from Flower Shop onto Whisper White cardstock.  Cut out by hand and using the Sanding Block, lightly sand the edges.  Use the Pansy Punch to punch out a piece of Basic Black cardstock and mount the stamped flower onto the Basic Black punched flower using Mini Glue Dots.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Pretty Prints Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the top half of a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim to approx. 3 3 ¾” x 5” and set aside.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock (emboss twice) and cut apart leaving a portion of the Whisper White to adhere to the next layer.

Adhere the Needlepoint embossed border to a piece of Basic Black cardstock (I use just a scrap strip at the top).  Adhere a piece of Melon Mambo Designer Series Paper (DSP) to two strips of Basic Black cardstock at the top and bottom (or an entire panel of Basic Black cardstock- I have so many scraps that I try to use them first).  Add the second Needlepoint embossed layer to complete the background panel.

Adhere the Melon Mambo DSP/embossed panel to the Pretty Print embossed panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim to approx. 1/8” around the edges and mount onto a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock and again onto the Whisper White card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Square Framelits™ to cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock and a larger square of Basic Black cardstock.   Add a few Basic Black leaves (created with the Bird Builder Punch) using Mini Glue Dots to the Whisper White square.  Add the stamped flower punched piece and adhere to the square as well with Mini Glue Dots.

Add the sentiment oval layer onto the card and the floral square using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Create the little polka dot banner using the new Banner Punch (I used a retired SU! background paper) and adhere the little heart along with the Pearl.  Add to the upper corner of the card.

Adhere the entire panel to the Whisper White card base and add the Pearls to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets: Flower Shop, Friendly Words (MDS version)
Ink: Melon Mambo, Printer Ink- Black
Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Melon Mambo Designer Series Paper (DSP), retired background paper
Accessories: Big Shot™, Square and Oval Collections Framelits™, Needlepoint and Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Punches- Bird Builder, Pansy, Banner, Pearls

Thanks again for visiting- I hope you will find the time to join us at the Dynamic Duos this week!

SR199 Card #5- Photo Inspiration and Sketch

Hi Again Stampers!!

This is the fifth card created based on the wonderful SR199 Stampin’ Royalty PhotoInspiration as well as a modified version of the Splitcoaststampers SC459 Sketch.

Hopefully, if you have not done so yet, you will visit each of the sites/galleries- such inspiration by all!

If you are wondering why I created six cards from one inspiration challenge, I have more details in my first post here  :-)

To create this card:

Using My Digital Studio (MDS) print out the Green Tea flower image and the sentiment from Friendly Words onto Very Vanilla cardstock using the black printer ink.

***Note*** The Green Tea stamp brush set may be a MDS exclusive set since I do not recall this one in rubber- also I am not sure if it is included with the newer MDS program but I love the images!

Use the Big Shot™ with the Deco Labels Framelit™ to cut out the flower image and the Apothecary Accents Framelits™ to cut out the sentiment (also cut another piece from Basic Black cardstock to frame the sentiment).

Layer the focal image die cut onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, rounding the corners using the Envelope Punch Board.   Add the black satin double ribbon bow at the bottom.

Cut part of the black die cut for the sentiment away to create a partial frame and adhere to the focal image.

Mount the scrap pieces of the retired checkerboard and polka dot background papers to a piece of Basic Black cardstock (I used scrap strips of Basic Black to create the layer behind the polka dot piece as well).

Add the background panel to a Very Vanilla card base and attach the focal image/sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add a few Pearls (of course) to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Green Tea, Friendly Words (both MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black

Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, retired Neutrals background papers

Accessories: Big Shot™, Deco Labels Framelit™, Apothecary Accents Framelits™,  Pearls, Black Satin Ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- only one more card to go!! Have fun creating and stamping!

True Friends- A Sketch and Photo Inspiration

Hi Again Stampers!!

This is the third card  created based on the wonderful SR199 Stampin’ Royalty PhotoInspiration as well as the PP169 Sketch at The Paper Players

I truly hope you will have the time to visit each site and check out the Design Team samples as well as the other wonderful entries...

Again, I used very limited supplies and have more details for the reasoning behind that decision here :-)

To create this card:

Using the Big Shot™ emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Adhere the retired piece of checkerboard background paper to scrap strips of Basic Black cardstock (I have numerous strips left over from trimming and if it is a small frame, I can add the strips without anyone knowing it is not a solid piece of cardstock- oops, until now :-))

Adhere the checkerboard panel to the embossed Woodgrain background, add the black satin ribbon strip (from my stash) with the three little banners (also from retired background papers) and mount the entire panel onto the Basic Black card base.

Create the tag from Basic Black cardstock using the Big Shot™ and the Chalk Talk Framelits™.

Attach the black satin triple ribbon bow at the top of the tag.  Add the the sentiment (a pre-printed My Digital Studio (MDS) image onto Whisper White cardstock punched out with the 1 ¾” Circle Punch and mounted onto 1 ¾” Circles from Basic Black carstock) along with the cat die (cut from Sahara Sand cardstock and stamped with the Mixed Bunch flower using Sahara Sand Classic Ink).

To finish off the card, add the Rhinestones in the three different sizes along the top left for the sketch, the collar on the cat and the lower right (just because :-)).

Stamp Sets:  Friendly Words (MDS), Mixed Bunch (on the cat- hard to see)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Sahara Sand,

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Neutrals background papers

Accessories: Big Shot™, Woodgrain Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Chalk Talk Framelits™, 1 ¾” Circle Punch, Rhinestones, cat die cut (non SU!), black satin ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for stopping by- I still have three more cards to post!!  Hope you are having fun creating in your craft space!

SUO70- Friendly Butterflies

Hi Stampers!

The SUO70Challenge is Anything Butterflies and we welcome all entries using Stampin’ Up! Only products!  So pull out those butterfly stamps,  punches, embosslits, dies and as in my case, My Digital Studio to create a project and come share with us!!

I decided to use My Digital Studio along with some of the new 2013-2015 In-Colors to create another card- I love the Swallowtail stamp brush and the fact that you can "re-size" the image!

To create this “hybrid” card:

Using My Digital Studio (MDS), insert the Swallowtail image onto your 8.5 x 11 blank page and re-size into three different sizes.   Also insert the sentiment from Friendly Words and print out onto Whisper White cardstock.

Carefully cut out each butterfly by hand and use a Sponge Dauber with the 2013-2015 New In-Colors (Coastal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe) along with So Saffron to pounce color onto the butterflies.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Apothecary Accents Framelit™ to create the label detail from Whisper White and Basic Black (cut the Basic Black layer in half vertically to layer behind the frame).  Emboss with the Big Shot™ and soon to be retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (I will miss this one so much!).

Using the Big Shot™, position an Oval Framelit™ over the sentiment and a piece of Basic Black cardstock and cut both at the same time.  Adhere the sentiment to the Basic Black layer allowing a bit of the black to show as a frame.

Use the Big Shot™ along with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock.

Using Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Ink, repeatedly stamp the floral image from Bloomin’ with Kindness onto a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.

Layer the embossed/stamped pieces onto a piece of Basic Black and layer again onto the Whisper White card base.  Add a scrap strip of Basic Black cardstock to hide the seams of the Crisp Cantaloupe and Coastal Cabana layers.

Add the Antique Brads to the focal layer (use the 1/16” Hand Held Punch or Paper Piercer Tool to punch the holes for the brads).  Position the sentiment and focal layer onto the  card and add the butterflies/pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Bloomin’ with Kindness, Swallowtail (MDS), Friendly Words (MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, So Saffron

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Fancy Fan and Lacy Brocade Textured Impression ™Embossing Folders, Oval and Apothecary Accents Framelits™, Sponge Daubers, Antique Brads, Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope can come join us for the SUO70 Butterflies Challenge!!
