Keep Climbing!

Hi Again Friends!

This card is another design for the Splitcoaststampers’ April 2016 Cards for A Cause (see here for more details) using the SC587 Sketch Challenge, the CC558 Color Challenge and the Inkspirational #106 Rock Challenge.

I realized as I reviewed this card to create the blog post that I made an error on the colors and used Soft Suede versus Tip Top Taupe- oops!  I do believe this would look better if I had been more careful and used the Tip Top Taupe...maybe I will create another one at a later date with the correct colors :-)

I hope you will take the time to visit the above linked sites- so much inspiration!

To create this card:

Ink the all of the images from Keep Climbing (ODBD) with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and Chalkboard Fan background stamp (ODBD) with Watermelon Wonder Classic Ink- stamp all onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use Stampin’ Write Markers to color the mountain and trees, create a moon mask as well as a cloud mask and sponge Watermelon Wonder Classic Ink onto the sky area along with the sentiment panel.

Die cut with stitched dies, mount onto Soft Suede cardstock and add Clear Wink of Stella®  to the mountain.

Add the 5/8” Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon strip to the die cut Watermelon Wonder strip.

Mount onto the layered embossed Whisper White background panel and adhere to the Watermelon Wonder card base.

Use a Square Punch to create the small photo corners and add Copper Brads to each corner.

Finish off the card by layering the panels and adding the 5/8” Chocolate Chip Satin Triple Ribbon Bow.

Stamp Sets: Keep Climbing, Chalkboard Fan Background (Our Daily Bread Designs)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Watermelon Wonder; Stampin’ Write Markers- Chocolate Chip, Tip Top Taupe, Clear Wink of Stella®

Paper: Whisper White, Soft Suede, Watermelon Wonder

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Stitched Square and Rectangle STAX Dies, MFT Stitched Horizontal Strip Die, retired Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Sponge Dauber,  1 ¼” Circle Punch, 1 ⅜” Square Punch, Copper Brads,  5/8” Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon

SUO124 Thinking of You on the Starry Sea :-)

Hi Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO124 “Stars and Stripes” Challenge (it does not have to be patriotic) and since my last project was patriotic, I decided to use the Star Collection Framelits™ along with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to create my “Stars and Stripes” card.

I also incorporated the Fusion 06/04/15 “Blue Skies and Smooth Sailing”Challenge using their sketch as inspiration as well as some of the colors from the inspiration photo.

I hope you will find the time to check out all the rest of our Design Team ideas as well as those at the Fusion site and come join in on the “Stars and Stripes” fun by creating your own project using Stampin’ Up! Only products!!

To create this card:
Ink the ship image from Traveler with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp another image onto a piece of scrap paper to use as a mask.
Create a mask for the sun using the 1 ¼” Circle Punch.
Place the mask for the ship over the stamped image and place the mask for the sun over the ship’s mask and onto the Whisper White cardstock.
Use Sponge Daubers to apply Melon Mambo and Tangelo Twist Classic Ink for the sky, create a mask for the skyline and apply Pool Party and Island Indigo to the water area.
Remove the masks and color the ship with the Island Indigo Stampin’ Write Marker (add shadows with the Sahara Sand marker).
Darken the sea area for the shadow of the ship and add additional lines to the water with the Basic Black Stampin’ Marker.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Star Collection Framelits™ to cut out the image and also cut the same size star from Island Indigo and Tangelo Twist cardstock.
Cut the Island Indigo and Tangelo Twist stars in half and mount behind the focal image.
Ink the World Map background stamp using Island Indigo Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock.
Trim the piece to 1 ½” and punch the banner end with the new Banner Triple Punch.
Trim a piece of Island Indigo cardstock to 1 ¾” and punch the banner with the Banner Triple Punch, mount the World Map banner to the Island Indigo layer.
Trim a piece of Tangelo Twist cardstock to approx. 2” and punch with the Banner Triple Punch, add the layered World Map pieces to complete the vertical banner.
Emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Big Shot™ along with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and mount onto a piece of Island Indigo cardstock, trim and mount onto the Tangelo Twist card base.
Adhere the layered World Map banner strip to the embossed background and add the star focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Stamp the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and create the banner points with the Banner Punch.
Mount onto pieces of Island Indigo and Tangelo Twist (also using the Banner Punch to create the banner points), adhere to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add a few Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Traveler- Three Challenges in One!

Hi Again Stampers!

I hope all of you are having a great weekend so far!  I rearranged my stamping area this week and did not have a chance to stamp until last night, so I wanted to share one more card that I was able to complete for a few of my favorite challenges- the SR271 Sketch Challenge using the FM201 FridayMashup! Color Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers F4A260 Double, Triple Challenge (three inks, three elements- see the details here and the gallery here).

Again, I hope you have the time to stop by the above sites to check out the terrific inspiration from the Design Teams as well as the other entries!

To create this card:

Ink the ship stamp from Traveler using the Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the MFT Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the image.
Color the image using an AquaPainter™ with Pacific Point Classic Ink for the ship’s hull and the ocean.

Create a mask using the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and sponge Pacific Point along with Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink over the sky area (using the AquaPainter™ to blend over the moon, etc.).  Add color using the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write marker for the smoke, the Rich Razzleberry as well as Pacific Point markers to add additional detail to the ship and Basic Black to add waves and a few birds to the sky.

Sponge a bit of Pacific Point Classic Ink over the edges and mount onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  Add the bitty flag with a scrap of DSP (I did not line up the stamped image low enough on the die- oops!) :-)

Create the banners with the retired Banner Blast set using Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink and punch out with the Banner Punch.

Add the banners to the back of the focal image along with another one from Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

Use the Big Shot to emboss a piece of retired High Tide Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and mount onto a piece of Pacific Point cardstock.  Trim and mount the panel onto the Rich Razzleberry card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Circle Collection Framelits™ to cut a portion of a large circle from the retired High Tide DSP as well as Pacific Point cardstock.

Mount the circles onto the card front and add a vertical strip of the High Tide DSP (Smoky Slate with anchors adhered to Pacific Point cardstock).

Add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and adhere the three retired Circle Brads to finish off the card (FYI- I removed the brad points and used Hot Glue to mount the brads).

Stamp Sets:  Traveler, Banner Blast

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry; Stampin’ Write Markers- Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry, Smoky Slate, Basic Black

Paper:  Whisper White, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry; retired High Tide DSP
Accessories: Big Shot™, Circle Collection Framelits™, MFT Stitched Rectangular Dies, Banner Punch, retired Circle Brads, Sponge Dauber, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for visiting- now off to do some housework and get some rest :-)  Have a great day, my friends!

SUO106 Fall Colors- A Thankful Greeting :-)

Hi Stampers!

Time for the new SU-Only Challenges SUO106 Fall Colors  Challenge!  We are encouraging you to create a new project using your Stampin’ Up! products with Fall Colors.   I decided to use the White Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Mini to show that it can be used all year round :-)

I hope that you will visit us at SUO-Challenges to check out the rest of the Design Team projects and join in on in on the fun with your Stampin’ Up! Only creations!

I decided to incorporate the Around the World AW25 Thanks Challenge in honor of their first "birthday" as well- check this link out to see their fabulous Design Team and projects :-)

To create this project:
Ink the Post Card background stamp using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink- remove the ink off the vertical strip in the center using a baby wipe and stamp the image onto Whisper White cardstock.
Create a mask for the horizon line and stamp the tree stamp from White Christmas using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink.
Using the larger splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge with Tangelo Twist Classic Ink, stamp over the branches to create the illusion of fall leaves and repeat the steps using Old Olive and Cajun Craze Classic Ink.  Add a bit more detail using the Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write marker.
Color the grassy area using a Stampin’ Write Old Olive Marker and add a bit of Cajun Craze for the leaves on the ground and add details around the scroll areas at the top of the Post Card area. Draw a line for the horizon using the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker.
Use an AquaPainter™ with Pool Party Classic Ink to fill in the sky area being careful around the leaves.
Use the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to add a few birds to the sky.  Distress the panel using the Distressing Tool and use a Sponge Dauber to add Crumb Cake Classic Ink over the entire sky/image to “antique” the paper a bit.
Add the panel to a piece of Moonlight Designer Series Paper (DSP) and distress the edges using the Distressing Tool.  Stamp the DSP panel using the splatter stamp with Crumb Cake Classic Ink and mount onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock.
Distress the Pool Party layer with the Distressing Tool as well and add additional distressing to all of the layers using a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake Classic Ink.
Mount the entire panel onto an Early Espresso card base.
Stamp the California Quail image from Walk in the Wild as well as the acorn, piece of wood and sentiment from Truly Grateful using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.
Color the acorn and wood image using Stampin’ Write Crumb Cake and Baked Brown Sugar markers.  Color the quail using So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate and Basic Black Stampin’ Write markers.
Carefully cut out the quail, acorn and wood image and add a few highlights to the acorn and quail using the Chalk Marker.

CC490 Sunset Sympathy

Hi Again Stampers!

I am so honored to have been invited to be a Guest Designer for the Splitcoaststampers’ Color Challenge for the month of August :-)

I had so much fun with this week's CC490 Colors that I ended up creating two different cards.   The color combination of Coastal Cabana, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi and the fact that you can have a flower on the card (but it cannot be the focal image nor can the sentiment be the focal image :-))- these stipulations truly made it a "challenge" for me!

I hope you will visit the gallery and create a card of your own with this week’s colors!

To create the first card (see next post for the 2nd card):

Use the 1 3/8” Circle Punch to punch out a circle from a piece of scrap paper and mask the area on a piece of Whisper White cardstock (with the circle cut out).

Use a Sponge Dauber with Daffodil Delight Classic Ink to color in the center of the masked circle, remove the mask and re-mask the “sun” using just the circle portion of the mask.

Create a torn mask for the horizon line (to mimic the mountains).   Keep the circle mask over the sun area and using a Sponge Dauber, apply Coastal Cabana Classic Ink followed by Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink.

Remove the mask for the mountains and reverse the mask to mask the sponged sky area.

Use a Sponge Dauber with Wild Wasabi Classic Ink to create the mountain /grassy area.

Re-mask to stamp the trees on the horizon (using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink) and a few details using a Sakura .005 Micron Pen.

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Add the squares of Cherry Cobbler cardstock (allowing the corners to show- these pieces were from my scraps).

Mount a piece of Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper (Park Lane DSP) to a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Add the Coastal Cabana cardstock layer at the bottom with a strip of Basic Black cardstock to cover the seam.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Our Daily Bread Designs Edgelit™ to create the lacy border out of Whisper White cardstock.  Mount below the Basic Black band, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

Adhere the entire panel to the Coastal Cabana card base and add the sentiment along with the Cherry Cobbler button to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Printer Ink- Black (for sentiment)

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Cherry Cobbler , Basic Black, Parl Lane DSP
Accessories: Sponge Daubers, Hexagon Punch (for the banner points), scrap paper for masking, Big Shot™, Decorative Border Strip (ODBD)

Thanks again for visiting- I hope you have a fabulous evening!!

JUN14VSNE Thinking of You- Faux Tole Flowers

Hi Again Stampers!

I am still working on the Splitcoaststampers’ Virtual Stamping Night (VSN)- Summer Vacation cards and this card is created for theJUN14VSNE “Faux Tole Flowers” Challenge along with the CAS Colours &Sketches Challenge #77.

Again, I hope you have had a chance to visit the challenge sites- so many different interpretations of the challenges!!

To create this Clean and Layered (CAL) card:

Stamp the image using Memento™ Tuxedo Black onto two pieces of Whisper White cardstock.

On one of the images, color the image using Stampin’ Write Markers- Tempting Turquoise for the sky and Wild Wasabi for the grass.   On both images use Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities™ to color the flowers and the Stampin’ Write Wild Wasabi marker to color the leaves.

On the fully colored image, use the Stampin’ Write Sahara Sand marker to add shadows on the barn and the Chalk Marker to add highlights.  Punch out the image using the 1” Square Punch and mount the squares onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Mount the entire panel onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and adhere to a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Wild Wasabi card base.
On the second image, carefully cut out the flowers and leaves- mount onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the banner and sentiment to finish off the card (I used a previously printed image from Wetlands, punched with the Large Oval Punch and layered onto another set of Large Ovals from Basic Black cardstock).

Stamp Sets: Wetlands, Sunflower Barn (Impression Obsession)

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, Sahara Sand; Daffofil Delight Blendabilities™ Collection, Chalk Marker

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Wild Wasabi

Thinking of You- Life in the Forest :-)

Hi Stampers!

I love the combination of colors in this week’s ColourQ CQC244 Challenge and decided to combine it with the FMS139 Freshly Made SketchChallenge.   The colors are so fresh and summery, I decided to create a little scene with the new stamp set, Life in the Forest:-)

I hope you have had a chance to visit both of the challenge sites- again, great inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the Arrows Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and add the banner strips per the sketch-created from retired Designer Series Paper (DSP) and mounted onto Night of Navy cardstock.

Mount the panel onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, trim and mount again onto Tangerine Tango cardstock and adhere to the Night of Navy card base.

Create a tag from Whisper White cardstock using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and layer onto another tag created from Night of Navy cardstock, rounding the corners using the Envelope Punch Board.

Punch a smaller piece of retired Bashful Blue DSP using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and adhere to the tag.

Create the "grassy" area using scraps of Old Olive cardstock (embossed using the Big Shot™ and the retired Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and hand torn), round the corners using the Envelope Punch Board and adhere to the lower part of the tag only applying adhesive to the bottom portion of the “grass” .

Stamp the fox and trees from Life in the Forest using Tuxedo Memento™ Black onto Whisper White cardstock and color using Stampin’ Write markers and Stampin’ Blendabilities™ (Stampin’ Write Tangerine Tango for the fox, followed by the Medium Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities™ and the Old Olive Blendabilities™ for the trees).

“Fussy cut” out each image and arrange a few trees (tucking the trunks under the “grass”) using adhesive and mount the remaining trees and fox using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add a piece of retired 3/8” Tangerine Tango Dotted Scallop Ribbon to the tag and tie Natural Linen Thread around the ribbon with a bow.

Mount the tag to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Life in the Forest, Wetlands (MDS version)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Blendabilities™- Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Collections; Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Write Marker

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Designer Series Paper- retired Old Olive DSP Stack, retired Bashful Blue from Hostess Level I Pack and retired Retro Fresh DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™,  Arrows and retired Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Punches- Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Hexagon, Large Oval Punch; Envelope Punch Board,  3/8” Tangerine Tango Dotted Scallop Ribbon, Natural Linen Thread

SUO79 Favorite Technique- Moonlight on the Snow

Hi Stampers!

The SUO79 Challenge at SUO Challenges is "Favorite Technique" and I have always have trouble choosing a favorite anything with stamping (love it all) :-) so I decided to go with a masking/sponging technique and chose to make another Christmas card for my September commitment to the CCC13 Splitcoaststampers Challenge

I truly hope that you will have a chance to stop by to visit SUO-Only Challenges to check out all of the other Design Team creations and play along with us!  Just remember to link up a card or project featuring Stampin’ Up! Only (created after September 10th ) highlighting one of your favorite techniques.

To create this card:
Use the 1” Circle Punch to punch out a circle from a sticky note or other piece of paper to use as a mask for the moon and another few pieces with the rounded uneven edges to mask off the hills for the snowy banks.
For the sky area- on Whisper White cardstock, use Sponge Daubers with a straight sweeping motion to apply Strawberry Slush Classic Ink, then follow with Raspberry Ripple, Island Indigo and Basic Gray Classic Ink (remember to always apply light to dark).
Remove the mask over the moon and keep the masks in place for the snow banks- ink the tree line stamp from Lovely As A Tree with Basic Gray Classic Ink and stamp repeatedly to create the tree line in the background.   Re-ink the stamp and stamp onto a piece of Acetate (or Window Sheet),  position a mask in place to cover the snow but allow for the water line, lay the acetate over the Whisper White (inked side down) and smooth over the paper with your fingers to transfer the ink to the paper for the reflection of the trees.
Again, while keeping the upper snow bank masks in place, apply a bit of the ink with Sponge Daubers in the same colors as the sky (light touches) and leave an area free from ink for the moon reflection.
Ink the large pine tree using Basic Gray Classic Ink and stamp a few for the foreground.
Add a few shadows on the snow banks using the Aqua Painter with Basic Gray Classic Ink and Island Indigo.  Add a few highlights with the Chalk Marker – wispy clouds in the sky, snow and ice on the banks and water, snow on the trees.
Layer the panel onto Raspberry Ripple cardstock and onto a piece of Island Indigo embossed cardstock (with the Big Shot™ and Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder) and again onto Raspberry Ripple card base.
Add the sentiment (this one was printed with My Digital Studio onto Whisper White cardstock from the Christmas Lodge Stamp Brush Set), layer onto Raspberry Ripple cardstock and add a few Rhinestones to finish off the card
Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Christmas Lodge (MDS)

Ink: Basic Gray, Island Indigo, Raspberry Ripple, Strawberry Slush

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Island Indigo, Raspberry Ripple

Accessories: Big Shot™, Stylish StripesTextured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Sponge Daubers, Punches- 1” Circle, Chalk Marker, Rhinestones

Thanks again for stopping by- hope to see your Stampin’ Up Only SUO79 Favorite Technique project!  Have a blessed week!!
