By The Seashore - A CAS Watercolor for Two Challenges :-)

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to relax and stamp into the wee hours this morning and decided to create a Clean and Simple (CAS) card with a watercolor technique for the Nance's  PP241 CAS Watercolor Challenge using this week's "summery"  CQC288 ColourQ Challenge Palette.

Again, if you have not visited the above sites, I hope you will do so- great inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the main starfish and conch shell image from the soon to be retired, By The Seashore with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Naturals White cardstock.  Stamp another image of each onto a piece of scrap paper or a sticky note, cut out and use these images as masks.

Mask the two stamped images and stamp the sand dollars along with the additional starfish using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink.

Wet the paper and use a paintbrush or AquaPainter™ to apply Bermuda Bay and retired Kiwi Kiss Classic Ink to the background along with Crumb Cake Classic Ink to the shells and lower portion of the panel.

Spritz with additional water and apply more ink as needed.

Dry the panel thoroughly with a Heat Tool and use the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to add shadows and more definition to the shells, spritzing as needed to blend the ink.

Spritz the background lightly and stamp the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Bermuda Bay Classic Ink, clean the stamp and stamp the splatter again with Crumb Cake Classic Ink at the bottom.

Dry the panel again thoroughly with the Heat Tool and stamp the sentiment from Trust God using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink.

Use a Faber-Castell® Black Pitt Pen marker to fill in any gaps in the images and add a few highlights to the shells with the Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen marker.

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Whisper White card base to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: By The Seashore, Trust God, Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, retired Kiwi Kiss, Faber-Castell® Black and White Pitt Pen Markers

Paper/Cardstock:  Naturals White, Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: AquaPainter™, Water Spritzer Bottle

Thanks again for visiting- I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!!

Another Christmas in April- A Vintage Mixed Media Card

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to create a Mixed Media card using the Splitcoaststampers’ Mix-Ability MIX116 “Fill It In” Challenge- this is a challenge to partially stamp an image and fill in the unstamped area with your own design such as doodling, etc. (see details here and gallery here).

I did not have too many images that I thought would work with this technique, but finally chose this retired Christmas stamp and hand drew additional holly leaves and berries on the right hand side of the ornament :-)

I also incorporated a watercolor background for the Splitcoaststampers' WT527 Challenge (see details here and gallery here) as well the CC512 Challenge colors again (since they were still on my desk)- see details here and gallery here.

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit the above sites- the Splitcoaststampers Design Team creations are always fabulous as well as the galleries!

To create this card:

Use a foam brush to apply Gesso® to a piece of Natural White cardstock and allow the panel to dry (or you can use a Heat Tool to speed up the drying process).

Once dried, apply Champagne and Silver Metallic Faber-Castell Gelatos® spritz with water and spread to cover the panel. Continue to layer a few more colors- Iced Chai and Metallic Melon, again spritzing with water and drying with the Heat Tool.

Ink the retired Christmas Collage background stamp with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp over the panel  (lightly pressing in certain areas to give the impression of an aged image).

Apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains- Bundled Sage, Festive Berry, Picked Raspberry and Chipped Sapphire, spritz with water, turn to allow the stain to spread onto the prepared panel and dry with the Heat Tool.

Carefully dab off the color using a cloth in areas where the stain is too dark (until you are satisfied with the results).

Use a foam brush to apply Mod Podge® over the panel and allow to thoroughly dry.

Trim and mount onto a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

Ink the Christmas Bauble stamp using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and use a baby wipe to remove part of the image on the right (opposite the holly at the top of the ornament).

Use a Faber-Castell® Black XS Pitt Pen marker to draw the holly and berries into the ornament side on the right and add a few holly leaves at the bottom of the ornament to balance the design.  Also draw the lines on the ornament to create the “ribbon” stripes.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Classic Ink to color the ornament- Blushing Bride as a wash over the ornament, Mossy Meadow for the leaves and Rich Razzleberry for the stripes, berries and loops areas in the center.

Once dried, use Stampin’ Write Markers to add more definition and shadows- Blushing Bride for the lighter areas of the ornament, Rich Razzleberry for the stripes and berries, Mossy Meadow for the leaves and shadows with Sahara Sand.

Use a White Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen marker to add highlights to the berries and scallops on the ornament.

Fussy-cut the modified ornament image, add a layer of Mod Podge® over the entire image and once dried, add the gold cord around the top of the ornament and mount to the background panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Mount the entire panel onto the Blushing Bride card base.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink (or use a My Digital Studio image printed onto Whisper White cardstock- which is what I used for this card).

Punch the image with the XL Oval Punch, use an AquaPainter™ to apply a wash of Blushing Bride Classic Ink and stamp the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Sahara Sand Classic Ink.

Once the sentiment is dry, use a Sponge Dauber to apply Sahara Sand Classic Ink to the edges, adhere to two Rich Razzleberry ovals punched from the XL Oval Punch (overlapped and mounted behind the sentiment so you can only see a bit of the Rich Razzleberry layer) and add a layer of Mod Podge®.

Add the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and finish off the card using Pearls in the center of the ornament.

Stamp Sets: Christmas Bauble, Christmas Collage, Bells & Boughs (MDS verison)

Ink: Blushing Bride, Mossy Meadow, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand; Stampin’ Write markers- Blushing Bride, Mossy Meadow, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand;  Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains- Bundled Sage, Festive Berries, Picked Raspbe, Chipped Sapphire; Faber-Castell® Metallic Gelatos®- Champagne, Silver, Iced Chai, Melon, White and Black Pitt Pen Markers

Paper: Naturals and Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry

Accessories: Gesso®, Foam Brush, Gold Cord, Mod Podge®, XL Oval Punch, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- it is such an encouragement to me!  Have a wonderful week, my friends!

Create a 1 ¾” Square of Whisper White cardstock and mount it onto a 2” square of Bermuda Bay cardstock.

Add the 2 ¼” half square of Whisper White cardstock to the right hand side of the layered square.

“Fussy-cut” the flower and leaves and mount to the center of the layered square.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Chevron Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut a panel 2” wide x 5 ¼” long.

Mount the embossed panel onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock.
Stamp the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and add the layered flower square.

Summer Silhouettes- An Assortment, Color and Sketch Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

This card was created using the As You See It AYSI083 Assortment Challenge along with the CMCC67 Colour Me! Challenge and Friday Mashup! FM205 Challenge (used the sketch only).

I hope you will have the time to check out all of the linked sites- fantastic Design Teams and galleries!

To create this card:

Ink the stem image from Summer Silhouettes using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp three times onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Ink the leaves using Pistachio Pudding Classic Ink and repeatedly stamp around the stems (stamping off as you repeat).

Stamp the flower tops using Blushing Bride, repeat with Rose Red Classic Ink and stamp the border using Rose Red Classic Ink.

Ink the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Sahara Sand Classic Ink to  add distressing and cut the entire image out using the Big Shot™ with the Circle Collection Framelits™ (cutting a circle from Rose Red cardstock as well).

Add additional “antiquing” using a Sponge Dauber with Sahara Sand Classic Ink  and mount onto the Rose Red circle.

Use the Distressing Tool to carefully distress the edges of Typeset Designer Series Paper (DSP)- this paper is very thin and the tool can be a bit rough on the edges :-)

Apply Sahara Sand Classic Ink to the edges and interior of the DSP, mount onto a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, sponge additional Sahara Sand Classic Ink onto the Blushing Bride cardstock and adhere the focal image circle to the card front.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Chevron Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a scrap piece of Pistachio Pudding cardstock, use the Sponge Dauber to apply Sahara Sand Classic Ink to the edges (and embossing) and mount onto a piece of Rose Red cardstock.

Add the crochet lace trim to the bottom and adhere to the card front.

I hope all of you have a wonderful, and hopefully, restful Sunday!

A Merry Vintage Christmas in April :-)

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to stamp yesterday and have several cards to share with you during the day today:-)

This card was created using the Merry Monday#154 Vintage Style theme along with the Splitcoaststampers’ CC512 Color Challenge (see details here and gallery here) and SC533 Sketch Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

I hope you will have the time to check out all of the linked sites- gorgeous creations and inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) His Gift poinsettia image using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry and Mossy Meadow Classic Ink to watercolor the poinsettia image.  Add additional details with Stampin’ Write Markers along with Sahara Sand for shadows and the background.

Apply Frost White Shimmer Paint to the petals and background and use Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen markers to add highlights and details to the petals.

Hand cut into the image along the edges so that a few of the leaves and petals can be lifted to avoid cutting with the Big Shot™ and the Circle Collection Framelit™ in the next step.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Circle Collection Framelit™ to cut out the poinsettia image along with another circle from Rich Razzleberry and Mossy Meadow cardstock.

Layer the Rich Razzleberry and Mossy Meadow circles behind the poinsettia focal image.

Use Big Shot™ with the retired Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock (this was already embossed and in my stash), trim and mount onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

Adhere a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock to a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock and emboss with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder. Mount the panel to the card front and add the Poinsettia image to the panel.

Add the 7/8” Sahara Sand Lace Trim and the 3/8” Mossy Meadow Stitched Satin Ribbon strip and mount the entire panel onto the Blushing Bride card base.

Stamp the sentiment from the retired Bells and Boughs set using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink (or use a My Digitial Studio (MDS) image printed onto Whisper White cardstock which is what I had in my stash).

Punch out the sentiment with the Note Punch and punch an additional piece from Rich Razzleberry and Mossy Meadow cardstock.

Lightly ink the script background of the poinsettia image using a Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker and stamp onto the sentiment.

Use a Sponge Dauber using Sahara Sand Classic Ink to distress the paper and use the large splatter stamp using Sahara Sand to add more distressing.

Apply Frost White Shimmer Paint and allow the tag to dry.

Split the Rich Razzleberry and Mossy Meadow Note Punch pieces in half and adhere behind the sentiment to allow a bit of the color to show behind the sentiment.

Mount the tag to the card front using Stampin’  Dimensionals® and add the Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Bells & Boughs (MDS version), His Gift (Our Daily Bread Designs)

Ink: Stāz-On© Jet Black, Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry, Mossy Meadow, Sahara Sand  Classic Ink; Stampin’ Write Markers- Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry, Mossy Meadow , Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen Markers- White and Black

Take Me Out to the Ballgame- A Get Well Prayer :-)

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to spend some time stamping yesterday creating a card using the ColourQ CQC287 Color Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers' WT513 "Getting Better" Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

This card was created for a gentleman that serves with us in our Awana club that has developed shingles (the colors feature his favorite baseball team- the Cincinnati Reds :-)).  His wife just had their third child and despite the pain of having shingles and lack of sleep that a newborn can create :-) , he is still traveling a few hours each day commuting to work!  We are praying for a very quick and full recovery for this dedicated, hard-working father!!

I hope you will have the time to check out all of the linked sites- gorgeous creations and inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Using Stāz-On© Jet Black Ink stamp the baseball image from the retired set, Take Me Out to the Ballgame onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the My Favorite Things (MFT) Stitched Rectangular Die to cut out the image and color using Stampin’ Write Markers- Real Red, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate along with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils (I did not dilute the watercolor pencils).

Using Sponge Applicators, apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink to “antique” the paper.  Ink the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using the Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye Distress Ink and add additional distressing to the image.

Use the Big Shot™ to cut another rectangle from Real Red cardstock and emboss it with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Adhere the Real Red panel onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, “antique” the edges with the Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink and mount the stamped image onto the panel.

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges of the Graphic45 Good Ol’ Sport Game Day Collection paper, “antique” the edges and interior using Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink and mount onto a piece of Real Red cardstock.

Distress the edges of the Real Red cardstock layer using the Distressing Tool, “antique” with the same Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Inks as above and mount onto the Basic Black cardstock base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the MFT Horizontal Stitched Strip dies to cut a stitched strip from the Graphic45  Good  Ol’ Sport 6x6 Pattern Paper and a larger stitched strip from Basic Black cardstock.

Layer the two strips together and mount across the card front.

Use the Banner Punch to punch banners from Real Red, Basic Black and the Graphic45 Good Ol’ Sport 6x6 Paper and adhere behind the focal image panel.

Add the retired Aged Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware clip to the upper left hand corner and mount the focal image to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Use the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to partially ink the sentiment from Doily Blessings (Our Daily Bread Designs) and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Punch the sentiment out with the Word Window Punch and create the banner using the Banner Punch. Repeat the same steps with a piece of Basic Black cardstock to create the banner behind the sentiment.

Use the Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink to “antique” the sentiment and stamp the large splatter stamp with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea  Dye Distress Ink to finish off the distressing for the sentiment.

Adhere to the focal image panel and add the Basic Black button (with Real Red cardstock “laced” through the holes) to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Gorgeous Grunge, Doily Blessings (ODBD)

Ink: Stāz-On© Jet Black, Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo Distress Ink; Stampin’ Write Markers- Real Red, Crumb Cake, Basic Black; Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils- Gray, White

By the Tide- Thinking of You a Color, Sketch and Theme Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to stamp late Wednesday evening (into morning) and decided to design a card using the Paper Players PP240 Color Challenge with the Freshly Made Sketches FMS183 Sketch and the theme from the Splitcoaststampers Way to Use It WT525 "Elements- Earth, Wind, Fire and Water" Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will find the time to visit all of the above sites- they have wonderfully diverse Design Team samples as  well  as inspiration from their galleries!

To create this card:

Using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, stamp the seahorse and fish image from By The Tide onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use  Stampin’ Write Markers to color the images- Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana for the seahorse, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush for the fish.

Fussy-cut the images and add a few white highlights to the fish using the Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen marker.

Ink the coral image using Strawberry Slush Classic Ink and stamp repeatedly onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Ink the script image using Pistachio Pudding and repeatedly stamp the script stamp as well.

Use Coastal Cabana Classic Ink to stamp the Nantucket Inn image onto the panel  (my stamp originally was not completely clean so I had to add a  bit of Strawberry Slush Classic Ink with the AquaPainter™ and add shadows with the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker to hide the error- now you know- lol!! :-))

Stamp the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Coastal Cabana Classic Ink (to mimic water bubbles) :-)

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Strawberry Slush cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim once more and mount onto the Coastal Cabana card base.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

“Huff” onto the script stamp to re-moisten the Pistachio Pudding Classic Ink and repeatedly stamp over the sentiment.

Create the banner points using the Hexagon Punch and mount onto a piece of Strawberry Slush cardstock (creating the points on this layer as well with the punch).

Add two additional layers of Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana cardstock along with the scrap piece of Strawberry Slush on the right hand side.

Re-moisten the ink on the splatter stamp (by “huffing on it”) and stamp over all layers.

Mount the sentiment, seahorse and fish image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: By The Tide, Wetlands, Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, Classic Ink- Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush;  Stampin’ Write Markers- Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush; Faber-Castell® White Pitt Pen marker

Paper: Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush

Accessories: Rhinestones, Hexagon Punch

Thanks again for stopping by- have a terrific Thursday, my friends!
