Ps 34:8 Taste and See

Hi Friends!

I had a chance to create a few cards this weekend using the Faith Quote Blocks Clear Stamp Set (designed by NinaB Designs) available from Sweet ‘n SassyStamps. 

This is the first card of two that I used the Freshly Made Sketches #306 Sketch Challenge for the layout and I am also participating with the Double D “Sentiments/Quotes” Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #300-#301 “Anything Goes” Challenge for this design.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the Psalm 34:8 image from Faith Quote Blocks with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, stamp onto a piece of green designer paper, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock.

2). Trim the vertical panels of the sketch from coordinating pieces of designer paper, mount onto espresso cardstock and trim close to the edge.

3). Emboss a piece of sahara cardstock, trim the panel, mount onto espresso cardstock and adhere to a white card base.  Add the vertical layered panels and mount the sentiment with dimensional foam.

4). Finish off with the polished hemp twine bow and wooden button,

I decided to create a Clean and Simple (CAS) card for LeAnne's #362 “CAS Harvest” Challenge at The Paper Players using the Harvest Mouse stamp set from My Favorite Things™ (MFT). 

I already had a few of the mouse images along with the pumpkins, etc. stamped and colored  in my stash so I decided to pull them out and create this quick card.

I also incorporated the CAS(E) This Sketch #240 Challenge into the design and along with the AAA Cards Game #99 “Autumn Colours” .

I hope you have taken the time to visit each of the challenge sites listed above, and if not, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the Harvest Mouse images with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Heat set the ink (I usually do this to speed up the drying process) and color the images with water-based and alcohol markers.

2). Score a piece of Whisper White cardstock (for the angles on the sketch), de-static the paper with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

3). Trim a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, adhere the embossed card front to the panel and mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

4). Die cut the Harvest Mouse images with the coordinating MFT Harvest Mouse dies, mount onto the card front with dimensional foam and add a few blue sequins to finish off the card.

TCC78 Hello Baby

Woohoo! It’s time for the new #78 Pastel Party Photo Inspiration Challenge at The Card Concept!

I just love all of the fun pastel colors, the sweet stuffed animals and the cat figurine and plate in this sweet inspiration photo that Lesley found for us! I decided to use the new Stampin’ Up! Cat Punch and Quilt Builder Framelit™ Dies to create my Freestyle Collage/Shabby Chic card.

I also incorporated the As You See It #158 "Doily Dreams" Sketch Challenge and the Joy of Sets #006 -“Letter T” Challenge into the design (I used Teeny Tiny Wishes).

To create this card:

1). Trim a piece of Whisper White cardstock, mount onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock. Mount the entire panel to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

2). Die cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock with a stitched rectangle die and mount onto the card front.

3). Create the quilt block using the new Quilt Builder Framelits™- I used retired Stampin’ Up! designer papers- Crushed Curry (from an old hostess pack), Pool Party and Pink Pirouette along with Whisper White cardstock.  I cut four of the quilt dies and pieced all four onto squares of coordinating cardstock (for this card I used Whisper White as the frame and base).  Add a white tea lace doily behind the quilt and adhere the strip of retired Pool Party ¼” stitched satin ribbon with the pink button embellishment.  Mount the entire quilt assembly onto the card front with dimensional foam.

4). Use the Cat Punch to punch out three cats- one from Pink Pirouette cardstock and two from Whisper White cardstock.  Layer the pieces together and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

5). Ink the “Hello Babby” sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes with archival black ink, stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and create the fishtail banner with the retired Hexagon Punch (or by hand).  Mount the sentiment onto piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock (allowing just the end to peek out), tuck the end under the Cat Punch and adhere to the card front with dimensional foam.

Pretty Patches: Apple

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a quick Clean and Simple (CAS) card using a retired W9Plus Design Studio Pretty Patches: Apple stamp set.  

I bought this set approx. four years ago and have not had a chance to ink it up that often, so when I saw the code word for  Challenge #119 at Addicted to CAS was “Apples”, I decided to pull out this neglected stamp set and give it some "love".  I really love the sentiments and images in this set and while the apple set is retired, WPlus9 still has a beautiful Pretty Patches: Pumpkin and Pretty Patches: Tree set.  I have the tree set already but now that pumpkin set is on my wish list- lol!!

I am also linking this card to the Addicted to Stamps and More #259 Clean and Simple Challenge and a second entry into the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #71 “Anything Goes”- the Pretty Patches:Apple stamp set is from 2012.

To create this card:

1). Using the Big Shot™ die cut a banner from a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the My Favorite Things™ (MFT) Jumbo Stitched Fishtail Banner STAX Dies. 

2). Die cut the same Whisper White panel (step #1) with the MFT Stitched Rectangle STAX Die, mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

3). Mount another piece of Whisper White cardstock onto the Basic Black card front, adhere to the Whisper White card base and add the die cut rectangle (with the cut out banner shape) to the card front.

4). Ink the Pretty Patches: Apple image with Tim Holtz® (TH) Candied Apple Distress Ink, wipe off the stem with a paper towel (or your finger), use a TH Gathered Twigs Distress Marker to color the stem and stamp the image onto the white die cut banner from step #2.  Ink the leave image with TH Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and add to the image and stamp the sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink below the apple.

5). Die cut a piece of designer paper (I used retired Stampin' Up! Print Poetry DSP) with the MFT Blueprints 20 Die-namics™ banner and trim the length for the topper.  Wrap some pieces of polished hemp twine onto the front and add the twine bow.

6). Mount the stamped apple banner using dimensional foam (a bit offset to allow the black background to show) and add the topper with dimensional foam as well to finish off the card.

F4A395 You've Got This- I am Praying for You

I hope all of you are having a great week so far!  Today I am sharing a card designed for the Splitcoaststampers F4A395 “An Encouraging  Word Goes a Long Way” Challenge.  I am praying for quite a few people right now and needed to have a few more "Praying for You" cards in my stash.  

I decided to use the Splitcoaststampers CC652 "Eating Berries and Doing Pirouettes in the Lost Lagoon" Color Challenge (including dimension for dessert) as well as my second card using the SC662 Sketch Challenge (I told you I loved this week's sketch in my previous post :-)).

I was also inspired by the FUSION 09/14/17 "Teacup Flowers" Inspiration Photo and will also be participating in the Word Art Wednesday#300- #301 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to check out the above challenge sites, I hope you will find time to do so- great inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the floral images from You’ve Got This (Stampin’ Up!) with archival black ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp three of the images and immediately apply clear embossing powder, heat set with a heat tool.

2). Watercolor the flowers using Stampin’ Write Markers- Pink Pirouette, Berry Burst and Lost Lagoon and once the watercolor has dried, fussy-cut the flowers and leaves.

3). Ink the sentiment from Strength & Prayers with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Die cut the sentiment with Circle Framelits™.

4). Cut an oval from Whisper White cardstock using an Oval Stitched Die.  Trim a piece of Berry Burst cardstock to 4” x 5 ¼”, die cut an oval in the center (same size die as used for the WW die cut) and emboss the panel with the retired Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Layer the embossed panel onto a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock (4 ⅛” x 5 ⅜” ) and adhere to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

5). Insert the die cut Whisper White oval into the opening and mount the fussy-cut flowers with dimensional foam. Apply clear shimmer to the flower petals using Clear Wink of Stella® and add white highlights to the flower center with an Extra Fine White Paint Pen.

6). Using a scoring board, score a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock every ⅛”.  Mount onto the card front (along with the sentiment) using dimensional foam and add a few sequins to finish off the card.

SC662 Nothing is Worth More...

Woohoo- it’s time for the new SC662 Sketch Challenge at Splitcoaststampers!  I think that Diane created a very versatile sketch, don't you? 

 I hope you will find the time to check out the gallery and see what a great job by DT Sisters did with this sketch- amazing talent for sure!

I decided to create a masculine card for my stash and pulled out two retired sets from Stampin’ Up!- Angler and Summertime Afternoon and paired them with the current Timeless Textures stamp set. 

I love the art work in both of the retired sets and since all three of the stamp sets are over a year old (Angler dated 2004, Summer Afternoon dated 2012, Timeless Textures 2016), I am also linking to the Retro Rubber #71 “Anything Goes”Challenge as well.

To create this card:

1). Ink the Angler image with Versafine™ Black Onyx Ink, stamp onto Whisper White cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, use an AquaPainter™ with Tim Holtz® Distress Inks to watercolor the image (I used neutrals and they are listed below).

2). Use a stitched oval die to die cut the image, mount onto a Basic Black oval die cut (cut with the same die, split in half to just show a tiny portion at the top and bottom).  Ink the Timeless Textures small splatter stamp with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and stamp onto the image (in the sand area).  Soften with the water brush and set the image aside.

3). Repeat the steps above for the fishing lure (fly) image from Angler and fussy-cut the image once it is completely dry.

4). Ink the sentiment from Summer Afternoon with Versamark™ ink, stamp onto a scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock, apply white embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.

5). Trim a piece of the retired Kraft Specialty Paper (I used the piece that had a woodgrain pattern already embossed in the paper), die cut a small circle from the area that will be hidden by the oval image (little tip to save paper :-)) and mount the entire woodgrain panel onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Trim and mount onto the white card base.

6). Die cut a larger circle from Basic Black cardstock.  Layer the woodgrain circle from the step above onto the black circle element, adhere to the sentiment.

7). Mount the layered oval focal image and sentiment to the card front with dimensional foam.  Add the fishing lure image with dimensional foam to finish off the card.

SUO183 Sheltering Tree

Hi Friends!  

It’s time for the #183 “Autumn Colors” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!  Autumn is my favorite season here on the East Coast- the crisp air, the beautiful colors of the leaves changing and all of the fabulous pumpkin and apple dishes!

I decided to pull out one of my more neglected current stamp sets, Sheltering Tree to create a quick “Thinking of You” card.  I love the tree image as well as the sentiments, bike, swing, etc. that you can add to your scene- not sure why I do not use this one more often...will have to remember to pull this set out more:-)

I am also linking this card to the Hand Stamped Sentiments #272 “Inspiration Photo” Challenge along with the Sketch Saturday #480 SketchChallenge and the Word Art Wednesday #298-#299 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create this card:

1). Ink the Sheltering Tree trunk image with Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

2). Ink the leaf image from Sheltering Tree with Crushed Curry Classic Ink, use a Sponge Dauber to daub Pumpkin Pie,  Garden Green, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and stamp onto the panel.  Repeat the process and re-stamp to fill out more leaves.

3). Ink the swing image with Soft Suede Classic Ink, position and stamp onto the panel.

4). Ink the large solid image with Crushed Curry Classic Ink, daub Pumpkin Pie and Garden Green onto the image and stamp onto the panel for the grassy knoll.  Repeat to create a larger area.

5). Trim the panel, mount onto Early Espresso cardstock, trim and mount onto Soft Suede cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, trim and mount onto the Early Espresso card front.  Adhere the entire panel onto an Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

6). Stamp the sentiment from Sheltering Tree with Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, trim and create the fishtail banner by hand,  mount onto Early Espresso cardstock, trim and adhere the entire sentiment onto the card front with dimensional foam.

7). Apply Clear Wink of Stella™ to add shimmer to the leaves to finish off the card.
