Tulip Prayers

 Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a vintage style floral card that was designed using the Get Well Tulip Bundle along with the Craft Consortium Baroque 6x6 Paper Pad and a few other supplies all from Stamp Simply.

As many of you who follow my blog know, I enjoy playing along with online challenges and am linking this card to the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge along with the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #172 (Diagonal – Watercolor, Free, Any Sentiment).

To create this card:

Trim a piece of the Craft Consortium Baroque 6x6 paper to 3 ¾ ” x 5”, de-static the upper right hand area with an embossing powder tool.  Ink the verse sentiment from the Get Well Tulip Bundle with Versafine Onyx Black, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, distress the edges with a distressing tool and mount onto a 4 ¼” x 5 ¼” piece of dark purple cardstock.

Add a strip of .75” White Venise Lace to the panel. 

Layer another pattern of the Baroque 6x6 Paper– cut to approx. 1 ¾” x 3 ⅝”, distress the edges and layer onto a piece of 2” x 4 ¼” dark purple cardstock. Adhere to the panel covering the raw edge of the lace.

Add a strip of purple seam binding and wrap the edges behind the panel.

Mount onto a white card base.

Ink the tulip image from the Get Well Tulip Bundle with Versafine Onyx Black, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with water-based markers and die cut with the coordinating die from the Get Well Tulip Bundle.

Mount onto the card front with dimensional foam. 

Finish off the card with a purple seam binding bow and pearls in the corners.

Sunflower Season- To Everything There Is A Season

 

Hi Friends!

I am thankful to be back to designing cards again!  The last few months have been a whirlwind of emotion as well as additional physical work since my beloved hubby went to be with the Lord!  He did so much around our home with the yard work as well as vehicle maintenance.  

The Lord has given me the strength to do some of the work that he used to handle and has blessed me with others who are helping me get the jobs done. 

In the meantime, I have not had time to create (plus felt that I had lost my mojo).  This week I had dental surgery and had to take it easy so I decided to take some time to create a few cards using Stamp Simply stamps and other supplies.

Today I am sharing a floral card featuring the Stamp Simply Clear Stamps- Sunflower Season Bundle along with the Echo Park Farmer’s Market 6x6 paper pad and other Stamp Simply ribbon, dies, etc.

The Sunflower Season stamp set is the Floral Stamp of the Week and tomorrow is the last day of the sale.  This is one of my favorite florals from Stamp Simply- I love sunflowers and the fonts on the verses and sentiments in this fun set.

I was able to incorporate the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #187 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge into the design (diagonal Nature-Green-Die Cut or Punch).  

I have owned the Sunflower Season set for a while and it was designed several years ago (one of the requirements of The Retro Rubber Challenge Blog is to use stamps sets that are over one year old or older).

I am also entering this card into the Word Art Wednesday #553-#554 “Anything Goes”Challenge.

This card was fairly simple to create- the sunflower and sentiment verse images were stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink,  then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. 

The sunflower image was colored with water-based markers and die cut with the coordinating die.

The Echo Park Farmers Market 6x6 designer paper was trimmed before layering onto white cardstock, trimmed and layered again onto black cardstock.

After heat embossing the sentiments from the Sunflower Season on white cardstock, they were die cut with the medium die from the Spellbinders Celebrations Pierced Rectangle dies.

The sentiment panel was mounted onto black cardstock and trimmed close to the edge before mounting onto the layered designer card panel.

The black and white gingham ribbon along with strands of Kraft Baker’s Twine were added (wrapping the ends behind the panel).

Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

Adhere the Sunflower image with dimensional foam and finish off the card with a kraft twine bow and button (threaded with Natural Burlap String).

TCC178 A Light Unto My Path

Welcome to the #178 {By The Sea} Challenge at The Card Concept! 

I was inspired by the colors, theme and textures in our inspiration photo to create a Clean and Layered Mixed Media card using a retired Stampin’ Up! set, A Light Unto My Path. 

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have a personal goal to create cards using stamps and supplies that I already own (and have not inked up in a while).  This stamp set has been in my collection for at least 20 years and I have not inked it up in ages.

 I also enjoy playing along with other online challenges and am incorporating the Stamping Sensation “Make It Masculine”Challenge, the Simon Says Monday “Something Beginning with 'S' Challenge(Stamps, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, String, Scripture, Seashore, Sky) and the Word Art Wednesday #549-#550  “Anything Goes” Challenge into the design.

If you have not had a chance to visit our Design Team/gallery at The Card Concept Challenge, or the other challenge sites,  I hope you will find time to do so- so much inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Using water-based markers, color the lighthouse image (I used Balmy Blue for the sky and sea, Coastal Cabana for the grassy area, Crumb Cake for the sand on the hill and Early Espresso for the lighthouse).  “Huff” onto the colored stamp surface to re-activate the ink and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock.

Die cut the image with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto espresso cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto kraft cardstock (again trimming close to the edge). 

Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the waves and the light from the lighthouse.

Stamp the sentiment using Early Espresso ink from a marker onto white cardstock, die cut with a banner die and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock, also die cut from the same banner die.

Tie a knot into a piece of twine and adhere onto the sentiment banner.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock with the retired Square Lattice Embossing Folder, trim to approx. 3 ¾” x 5”, mount onto a piece of kraft cardstock, trim to approx. 4” x 5 ¼” and mount onto a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” panel of espresso cardstock.

Add the strip of burlap ribbon (I frayed the ends) and adhere the metal compass with a brad.

Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

Mount the lighthouse image with dimensional foam (or chipboard) and add the banner sentiment at the top of the card to cover the brad and the very top edge of the lighthouse image.

Finish off the card by creating small photo corners for the top left and bottom right of the lighthouse panel from espresso cardstock (I generally hand cut these small photo corners but you could use a punch).

Praise the Lord - In Wilderness

This is the second card I designed using the retired In Wilderness stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  (see this post for my first card)

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have a personal goal to create cards using stamps and supplies that I already own (and have not inked up in a while) as well as a card for each of the over 900+ Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenges (I was able to incorporate Sketch #SC885 into the design of this card).   

I also enjoy participating with other online challenges and decided to incorporate the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #184 Far Out! Challenge (I used Harvest Gold, Burnt Orange, and Brown) along with the WordArt Wednesday #547-#548 “Anything Goes” Challenge and the Try It On Tuesday “For the Man in Your Life” Challenge into the design.

The In Wilderness stamp set is several years old and I have not inked it up in years.  The scripture verse from Scripture Medley Five is also retired and older- I love being able to pair older sets together! 

I decided to use the eagle image as a memory of the many eagles that my hubby, Dave and I would see on our rural drives.  They are so majestic and we loved seeing them!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of vanilla cardstock, stamp the eagle image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, color the image with water-based markers and oxide ink before die cutting with a circle die.  Use a fine point black marker to finish off the edge of the branch (I did not like it just ending without an end, lol!).

Die cut a larger circle from espresso cardstock with a stitched circle die.  Mount the colored eagle image onto the stitched circle die cut and set aside.

De-static the lower left-hand side of a panel of harvest gold designer paper (approx. 3 ¾” x 3”) with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Distress the sides of the embossed sentiment panel and lightly mount onto a piece of vanilla cardstock to 5 ¼” x 4”.

Trim a piece of plaid designer paper to approx. 1 ½” x 3 ¾”, and two additional pieces of designer paper to 1” x 3 ¾”.

Distress the outer edges of all the designer panels before layering onto the vanilla background.

Use a zig-zag stitch to sew around all the edges and mount the entire panel onto a piece of espresso cardstock (approx. 4 ⅛” x 5 ⅜”).

Use a piercing tool to create holes for the brads and hardware at the top and bottom of the first vertical panel.

Knot the polished twine to the ends of the hardware and add to the card front with brads (the ends are adhered behind the eagle panel).

Adhere the entire panel onto a white card base.

Mount the layered eagle image onto the card front using dimensional foam (or chipboard) to finish off the card.

TCC177 Make It Masculine - In Wilderness Buffalo

Welcome to the #177 Make It Masculine Challenge at The Card Concept! 

I was inspired by the wilderness images, the stitching between the squares on the pillow as well as the autumn colors in our inspiration photo to create a Vintage and Shabby/Mixed Media card using the retired Stampin’ Up! set, In Wilderness along with retired papers and embellishments.  

In fact, I was finally feeling a bit creative and created two different card designs and this is the first of the two.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have a personal goal to create cards using stamps and supplies that I already own (and have not inked up in a while) as well as a card for each of the over 900+ Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenges (I was able to incorporate Sketch #SC882 into the design of this card).  

I also incorporated the Alphabet “E is forEmbossing- Wet or Dry” Challenge (this card has both types) and the Word Art Wednesday #547-#548 “Anything Goes” Challenge into the design.

To create this card:

De-static a piece of vanilla cardstock, stamp the buffalo image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, color the image with water-based markers and 

die cut with a stitched rectangle die.

Mount onto espresso cardstock, trim close to the edge.

Trim a piece of vanilla cardstock to 5 ¼” x 4”, mount onto a piece of 5 ½” x 4 ¼” espresso cardstock. 

Cut two pieces of designer paper for the background (approx. 3 ¾” x 2”), emboss with a quilt embossing folder, distress the edges, attach to background lightly with adhesive.

Distress the edges of a 2” x 3 ¾” strip of espresso designer paper, attach over the background lightly with adhesive and a zig-zag stitch around the edges.

Mount the background panel onto a 5 ½” x 4 ¼” white card base.

Mount the buffalo image onto the card front with dimensional foam (or chipboard). 

Heat emboss the sentiment using the same steps as the buffalo, trim the panel, mount onto espresso cardstock and adhere to the card front with dimensional foam.

Finish off the card by creating photo corners from espresso cardstock (I cut a square by hand, cut on the diagonal, then used scissors to create the little notches).

Thanks so much for stopping by- I am slowly getting back to a point where I can start blogging again.  I apologize for not posting as often as I normally would, but I have been working on rearranging my entire home and still have many boxes to unpack and put away. 

It is my goal to try to find a “home” for everything and have different “zones” in my home (for ex: library/study, gift wrap station, Bible Journaling area, etc.).  Since I have been focused on this goal and in addition to mowing, trimming bushes and outside maintenance that my hubby used to do, I have not had a chance to create any cards. I miss being creative for sure!

TCC175 It Is The Gift of God

Welcome to the #175 May Flowers Challenge at The Card Concept! 

I love this beautiful floral arrangement and was inspired by the colors in the challenge photo to create a Mixed Media card.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have a personal goal to create cards using stamps and supplies that I already own (and have not inked up in a while) as well as a card for each of the over 900 Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenges (I was able to incorporate Sketch #SC362 into the design of this card).   

For the main image, I pulled out the butterfly image from the retired Stampin’ Up! set, Ageless Adornments and the script image from the retired Stampin’ Up! Botanicals and paired it with a verse sentiment from the Scripture Collection 2 stamp set

(still available at Divinity Designs LLC).

To create this card:

Using a brayer, apply Peach Parfait and Melon Mambo to a piece of Glossy White cardstock. 

Once the ink has dried on the glossy panel, de-static with an embossing powder tool, ink the butterfly image with Versafine™ Black Onyx ink, stamp onto the prepared panel, apply Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat tool. 

Once cooled, trim close to the edge of the stamped image, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Use a stencil brush with a Flourish stencil to apply Peach Parfait and Melon Mambo onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. 

Trim the stenciled panel to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, de-static the lower right hand corner with an embossing powder tool, stamp the Scripture stamp from Scripture Collection with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.

Trim a piece of the patterned Kirby Teesdale designer paper to approx. 2 ¼” x 2 ¼”.  Mount onto black cardstock and adhere directly to the top of the background panel (per the sketch).

Ink the script image from Botanicals with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, repeatedly stamp over the background panel and the designer paper.

Add a strip of 1 ¼” black satin ribbon over the cut edge of the upper panel, wrap the ends of the ribbon behind the panel.

Adhere the panel to a white card base.

Adhere the butterfly image to the card front with dimensional foam and add a few pearls to the ribbon layer along with the upper left hand corner of the designer paper layer and the lower right hand corner of the background panel.

Use a white gel pen to add a few white highlights to the butterfly image to finish off the card.

TCC174 I Can Do All Things Through Christ

This card was designed for The Card Concept #174 {How Does Your Garden Grow} Challenge. 

FYI- I was unable to post to my blog when the challenge was live (see this post for more info regarding my beloved hubby going to be with the Lord).  I felt that this verse from the Words of Encouragement stamp set (from Stamp Simply)  is perfect for my life situation right now :-)

I was inspired by the gorgeous flowers, colors and the overall garden theme for my Mixed Media card.   

As I have mentioned in previous blog posts, I have a personal goal to create cards using stamps and supplies that I already own and have not inked up in a while as well as a card for each of the over 900 Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenges (I was able to incorporate Sketch #SC391 into the design of this card).   

For the main image, I checked my stash and found that I had a pre-printed Power Poppy image that I had already printed and colored.  I had printed out numerous images to take to the hospital in June 2019 when my hubby had his bladder and prostate removal surgery and was in the hospital for 13 days.  This colored image seemed to be perfect for this inspiration photo.

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse image from the Stamp Simply stamp set, Words of Encouragement with Versafine™ Black Onyx ink onto the prepared panel, apply Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat tool. 

Once cooled, trim close to the edge to a rectangular shape, mount onto dark purple cardstock and trim close to the edge.

For the background panel, die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched rectangle die (approx. 4 ⅛” x 5 ⅜”), mount onto a piece of dark purple cardstock, trim close to the edge.  Use a flourish stencil with Blushing Bride Ink to add a stenciled background (difficult to see in the photo). 

Emboss a piece of magenta designer paper with a script embossing folder, die cut with a stitched rectangle die, lightly sand with a sanding block.  Mount onto dark purple cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Die cut the water-colored digi image with a window frame die, die cut another window frame from dark purple cardstock, split in the center and mount the water-colored image onto the split frame.

Die cut a green flourish designer paper with a rectangle stitched die for the vertical layer of the sketch), mount onto dark purple cardstock, trim close to the edge and split in the center to spread to 4 ¼” height (this split is hidden behind the water-colored floral image).

Layer all together, add the eggplant satin ribbon and adhere to the white card base.

Add the focal floral image and sentiment with dimensional foam.

Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the floral images and a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the floral petals.

Finish off the card with a few pearls in the corners of the sentiment and lower left hand edge of the background panel.
