Country Style Prayers with a Twist

Hi Stampers!

I am still trying to "improve" my Clean and Simple  (CAS) style (which does not come naturally to me) so I decided to try using the FMS109 Freshly Made Sketch (I flipped the sketch- therefore the "twist" :-)) and incorporate the CASology #67 Theme- Country.

If you have the time, stop by and visit each site- both have wonderful Design Teams and many entries for inspiration galore!

I know that this card has a few more layers than what most would consider CAS, but for me, this is Clean and Simple :-)  As I mentioned above, a work in progess- lol!!

To create this card:

In My Digital Studio (MDS), open a blank 8.5 x 11 custom page and insert the Countryside truck and the Thoughts and Prayers sentiment- re-size and print onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

*** Hint **** Whenever printing images in MDS for card making, fill up your page before printing with other images that you may use in the future (make sure that you leave enough room for cutting with punches and dies).   This card was quick and easy since I already had both of these images in my “stash” plus the truck was already cut out with the Oval Framelit™ and ready to go!

Color the truck image using a Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker and cut out with the Big Shot™ and the Oval Collections Framelits™.

On a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock, stamp the Off the Grid and Gorgeous Grunge stamps using Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake Classic Ink.  Mount onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant and again onto the Basic Black card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Window Frames Collection Framelits™ to cut out the window frame from Basic Black cardstock and mount the truck image to the oval area.  Trim off the ends of the “window” at the top and bottom- add the Elegant Eggplant Designer Series Paper pieces (mounted onto Basic Black with the trimmed ovals from the previous step on the ends- I do not like to waste paper).

For the sentiment-use the XL Oval Punch to round off the end at the beginning of the image and the Hexagon Punch to create the banner/flag points.  Adhere this to a scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock and repeat the steps with the punches to create the frame for the sentiment.

Add the Elegant Eggplant button (with the Basic Black cardstock “thread” strip in the center) and adhere the entire focal image panel to the card  using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp Sets:  Countryside, Thoughts and Prayers– both MDS

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Marker- Sahara Sand

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Elegant Eggplant, Elegant Eggplant DSP

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Ovals Collection and Window Frames Collection Framelits™, XL Oval and Hexagon Punches (for sentiment), Elegant Eggplant button (retired Regals Collection)

Thanks again for stopping by!  We have been praying for a dear friend who is struggling with health issues and loves the Ravens, so this card will be for him!

Hope all of you have a great weekend- God Bless!

I like your card and want to make one similar for a BD card next June. Like the pickup in on the card. I also have the punches and framelets.

What kind of kitties do you have. I like their names. Is Queenie a Maine Coon?

I am getting two Maine Coon Kitties on Thanksgiving. I can't wait lost our last one in July.

Thanks Lora! Yes, Queenie is a Maine Coon (that is her nickname, she is so regal and beautiful) and Angel is a tuxedo shorthair- they are actually sisters from the same litter.

So sorry to hear that you lost your kitty in July but I am sure that you will have fun with the two new kitties on Thanksgiving!! Thanks again for taking the time to comment :-)

Great classic scene and colours - monochrome is definitely a way to keep things CAS! Thanks for joining us this week at CASology!
