Seasonal Shelves- Give Thanks

Hi Friends!!

This morning I am sharing a card designed with the retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set, Seasonal Shelves.  This set from 1999 (wow, 20 years old!) and I also used some older metallic papers that I have had for at least 10 years- love using my stash!

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will visit the above challenge sites- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Emboss sheets of light copper metallic cardstock with three different embossing folders (I used three Stampin’ Up! folders- Quilt Top, Square Lattice and Tin Tile).  Trim onto ¾” wide strips and mount onto black cardstock.

Mount onto a piece of the light copper metallic cardstock, trim and mount onto black cardstock.  Adhere the entire panel onto the front of a white card base.

Ink the Seasonal Shelves image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with water-based markers in neutral tones.  Fussy cut the frame, mount onto black cardstock and fussy cut around the edges.

Mount onto light copper metallic cardstock, trim and mount onto black cardstock.

Mount the entire focal image panel onto the card front using dimensional foam (or chipboard).

Finish off the card using a clear glitter pen on the wreath  and an extra fine white paint pen for highlights on the hanging dried flowers.

Stamp Sets: Seasonal Shelves (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Sahara Sand, Smoky Slate, Early Espresso; Tim Holtz™ Vintage Photo Distress Oxide; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black (both Stampin’ Up!), Light Copper Metallic Paper (not sure of manufacturer)

Accessories: Big Shot™, Sizzix™ Textured Impressions Embossing Folder- Quilt Top, Tin Tile 3-D, Square Lattice; Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!

Gather Together and Give Thanks

Hi Friends!!

This evening I am sharing another card that I designed using the remainder of the emboss resist panel from my previous post.

For this card, I am using the Sketch Saturday #588 Sketch for the layout and am also linking to the Sunday Stamps #217 "Autumn Richness" Color Challenge, Simon Says Work It Wednesday October “Autumn& Gratitude” Challenge and the Retro Rubber #123 “Anything Goes” Challenge (French Foliage is several years old and Painted Harvest is over a year old).

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will visit the above challenge sites- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and mount onto a white card base.

Trim three pieces of designer paper to approx.. 1 ½ “ x 3”, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and trim close to the edge.  Use a piercing tool to create holes to insert the copper brads.  Adhere the panel directly to the card front.

After creating the heat embossed resist panel with the French Foliage stamp set (I used distress oxide inks, clear embossing powder, masked the images as I stamped additional leaves, applied additional ink over the embossed leaves), stamp the script stamp and cancelled stamp image from French Foliage with repeatedly with Versafine™ Onyx Black over the emboss resist panel, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the circle (for the card in the previous post) and a rectangle for this card  using stitched dies.  Mount the stitched rectangle die cut onto a piece of black cardstock, trim close to the edge.

Fussy-cut a few of the leaves from the scraps and adhere to the corner with a copper clip.

Mount the entire panel onto the card front with dimensional foam (or chipboard).  Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the panel.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment with Versafine™ ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the sentiment panel, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

To finish off the card, mount the sentiment layer onto the card front (directly to the emboss resist panel and use dimensional foam on the far right hand side).

Stamp Sets: French Foliage (retired Stampin' Up!), Painted Harvest (current Stampin' Up!)

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Designer Series Paper (Autumn Meadow, Autumn Traditions)- Stampin’ Up!, misc purple designer paper

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Versamark™, Tim Holtz™ Distress Oxide- Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, Candied Apple, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Autumn Meadows and Autumn Traditions designer series paper, misc purple dsp

Accessories: Big Shot™, My Favorite Things™ Stitched Rectangle A2 Set 1 STAX,  Sponge Daubers, Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Copper Brads, Copper Clip

Funny Farm- Unforgettable Birthday

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a relaxing weekend!  I had a chance to spend some creative time today and designed a card using a new to me stamp set, Funny Farm from Unity Stamp Company.

This is such a fun set and I decided to create a birthday card incorporating the Freshly Made Sketches #400 Sketch Challenge along with the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge and Simon Says Work It Wednesday Aug/Sept “Celebrate” Challenge into the design.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the above challenge sites, I hope you will find the time to do so- terrific galleries and inspiration from all!

I heat embossed the main image as well as the sentiment, die cut the main image with a pierced rectangle die, created a few photo corners by hand and added silver brads along with ribbon and lace from my stash to finish off this easy layered card.

Stamp Sets: Funny Farm (Unity Stamp Company)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black,  Versamark™

Cardstock/Designer Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, misc. red dsp (not sure of manufacturer)

Accessories: Big Shot™, Divinity Designs Pierced Rectangle Dies, Embossing Buddy®, Clear and White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Silver Mini Brads, White Crochet Lace, 1” Black Satin Ribbon, ½” Black/White Checked Ribbon

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- hugs and I hope you will visit again soon!

TCC117 Sunny Days Ahead

Hi Friends!

Welcome to The Card Concept #117 {Summer Swirls} Challenge!  I was inspired by the bright primary colors of the hot air balloon along with the swirls to create a Clean and Layered/Mixed Media card!

I pulled out a few STAMPlorations™ stamp sets for this card- New Beginnings and Bloom Happy.  I have owned both of these sets for a while and this is the first time I have had a chance to ink them up (still working on giving all of my stamps some “love”).

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). On a piece of white cardstock, score two lines approx. ¼” apart on both sides of the panel, trim and mount onto a piece of black cardstock.  Ink the sentiment from Bloom Happy with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink and stamp onto the front of the panel.   Add the strips of silver cord and mount onto the white card base.

2).  De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sunset scene from New Beginnings with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, color the scene with distress inks and alcohol markers.  Trim around the image, mount onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

3). Use a clear shimmer pen to add shimmer to the sun’s rays to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  New Beginnings, Bloom Happy (STAMPlorations™)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz™ Distress Inks- Festive Berries, Chipped Sapphire and Scattered Straw; Stampin’ Write Markers-Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Blueberry Bushel; Spectrum Noir™ Alcohol Markers (GB4, GB6, TB5), Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Tools/Accessories: AquaPainter™, Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Silver Cord

Thanks again for taking the time to visit!  I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Summer Swirls} photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see your interpretation!! The challenge is open until Monday, June 24th at noon (EDT).

TCC110 Be Strong

Hi Friends!

I love the pieced wooden shamrock as well as the light wood door in the background and it inspired me to pull out a quilt stamp to create a Clean and Layered/Mixed Media card.

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool.   Using Versamark™ Ink, stamp the Star Quilt and the sentiment from Scripture Collection 3 (both Divinity Designs formerly Our Daily Bread Designs)  onto the prepared panel, apply gold embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, fussy-cut around the quilt image and trim the sentiment panel.

2). Color the quilt with four different green water based markers (I used Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green, Call Me Clover and Garden Green- all Stampin’ Up!).

3). Trim another piece of white cardstock to 4” x 5 ¼” and mount onto a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, trim and mount onto a white card base.

4). Mount the quilt image onto the card front using dimensional foam or other dimensional product (I used some scrap chipboard).

5). Mount the sentiment to the front of the card, overlapping a bit of the quilt image (I used scrap chipboard for the dimension on the ends only).

6).  Add a few drops of  Nuvo™ Light Gold Crystal Drops around the quilt and sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Star Quilt, Scripture Collection 3 (Divinity Designs, LLC)

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™, Stampin’ Write Markers- Call Me Clover, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Nuvo™ Light Gold Crystal Drops

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Lemon Lime Twist (Stampin’ Up!)

Tools/Accessories:  Embossing Buddy®, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thank you for taking the time to visit!  Just a reminder that The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a suggestion of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media (or you can combine several styles for your own style).

I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Shamrock Blessings} photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see your interpretation (the challenge is open until Monday, March 18th at noon EST).

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the reindeer image from Christmas Silhouettes with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, fussy-cut the image (FYI- I used my new Brother Scan ‘n Cut- love this machine!).

2).  Repeat the same process on another piece of white cardstock as in step 1 using the large image from  Wood Backgrounds.  Once the embossing has cooled, use distress inks to watercolor the image and fussy-cut around the edge.

3). Create the buffalo plaid background panel with the image from Texture Tiles 4 using black soot ink onto white cardstock, die cut the panel with a stitched strip die and mount onto black cardstock, trimming close to the edge.  Use a bit larger stitched strip die to die cut a piece of designer paper for the second vertical panel, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

4). Trim another piece of white cardstock to approx.. 4” x 5 ¼”, emboss with an embossing folder, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and trim close to the edge.  Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.  Add the two vertical panels with dimensional foam and mount the  Wood Backgrounds image onto the top of the panels with dimensional foam as well.

5). Loop silver cord onto the wood panel and add the fussy-cut reindeer image using dimensional foam.

6). De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment “From Our Home to Yours” from the Christmas Pine  stamp set using Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Trim the sentiment and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam to finish off the card.
