Sympathy Skyline

Hi Friends!!

This morning, I am sharing a Clean and Simple (CAS) Mixed Media card that I designed using two stamps sets currently available at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps- Landscape Silhouettes and Tender Thoughts.

I needed to restock my supply of sympathy cards and thought that the Splitcoaststampers SC42 Sketch Challenge  would be great for the layout (woohoo, another sketch, now only approx. 450 or so to go :-)) and I love the font on the "With Deepest Sympathy" stamp from the Tender Thoughts set.

In case you have not seen my previous blog posts, I have a personal goal to create a card for each of the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenges and they now are up to sketch #791 thankfully the challenges never expire :-)).

I am also playing along with the CASOLOGY #363 “Skyline” Challenge (most of their Design Team had city skylines so hopefully a nature skyline will qualify) :-).

To create this card:

On a piece of acetate (I used a clear envelope that had saved from stamp set packaging), tap a bit of Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink onto the acetate.

Lightly spritz the ink with water, fold the acetate together to “smoosh” the ink, insert a piece of white cardstock and press the ink onto the paper.  Keep repeating until you are satisfied with the results.

De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the landscape image with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink (I used my MISTI™ tool to ink up a few times) and stamp onto the panel.  Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim close to the edge.

De-static a piece of white cardstock for the background, ink the sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and stamp onto the panel (below where you will position the focal image panel).  Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the background panel, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Mount onto a white card base.

Mount the focal image using dimensional foam to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Landscape Silhouettes, Tender Thoughts (both Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black;Tim Holtz™ Distress Oxide Inks- Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Picked Raspberry

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: MISTI™, Embossing Buddy®, Clear EP, Heat Tool, Acetate Envelope, Water Spritzer

I am so thankful that you took the time to visit my blog- hugs and I hope you have a fabulous week!

Because He Lives

Happy Easter Weekend Friends!

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps released a new set in March- Timeless Hymns and I absolutely love some of the verses from the hymns in this set!!

"Because He Lives, I can face tomorrow" and "It is well with my soul" reflect how I feel this Easter Weekend.

Jesus Christ took on our sin when He died on the cross and rose again on Resurrection Sunday!!  We celebrate Jesus' Death and Resurrection this weekend and my heart is signing these hymns as I create this post!!

I decided to design a few more CAS Mixed Media cards using Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Timeless Hymns along with the new March stamp of the month- Texture Tiles I (today is the last day to receive this set free with your $75 US order) and the previously released stamp set, Landscape Silhouettes for a few online challenges.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge galleries yet or the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog/FB page, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create the Brusho® background:

1). Lightly spray a piece of watercolor paper with water, sprinkle Brilliant Red and Turquoise Brusho® onto the panel, allow the powders to spread and use a brush to blend. Dry with a heat tool and repeat until you are satisfied with the color.

2). De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the image from Landscape Silhouettes with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Trim the panel and mount each landscape onto black cardstock.

3). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool (in the area for the sentiment), ink the sentiment from Timeless Hymns with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Add additional distressing with hickory smoke distress ink using images from Texture Tiles I and use a water brush to apply additional Brusho®.

4). Trim the background panel, mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim again and mount onto the white card base.

5). Mount the landscape panel onto the card front with dimensional foam.  Use the Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen to add a few "stars" and sporadically  adhere some sequins to finish off the cards.

Ink: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Hickory Smoke Distress Ink, Colourcraft Brusho®- Brilliant Red, Turquoise; Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, AquaPainter,  Sequins

Thanks again for taking the time to visit!!  I hope all of you have a blessed Easter Weekend and Resurrection Sunday!!

CAS Mixed Media- Landscape Silhouettes Sympathy

Hi Sweet Friends!

This evening I am sharing a Clean and Simple (CAS) card that I designed using the  Landscape Silhouettes and Tender Thoughts stamp sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps for the AAA Cards #111 "Use Only One Third" Challenge and the Retro Rubber #83 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

I have owned both stamp sets for several years and they are so versatile for many occasions. I love the silhouette images and while I had Landscape Silhouettes out, I created four additional cards that I will share in the next day or so :-)

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge galleries yet or the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog/FB page, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Tap a few colors of Distress Oxide onto a silicone mat (see below for the colors I used), lightly spray with water and press a piece of watercolor paper 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.   Lift up and continue to re-apply ink until you are satisfied with the background.

2). De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the image from Landscape Silhouettes with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Trim the panel and mount onto black cardstock.

3). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool (in the area for the sentiment), ink the sentiment from Tender Thoughts with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim again and mount onto the white card base.

4). Mount the main panel onto the card front with dimensional foam to finish off the card.

Ink: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide- Twisted Citron, Broken China, Picked Raspberry

CAS Wild Thing - A Quick Mixed Media Card

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week so far!! I am having fun creating Clean and Simple (CAS) Mixed Media cards this week and designed this card using  LeAnne's PP295 “CAS Wild Thing” Challenge at The Paper Players as well as the Splitcoaststampers’ CC583 Color Challenge and the Freshly Made  Sketches FMS237 Sketch Challenge.

This card shows a few combination of colors that you can achieve with using just three colors.  Even though two of the colors in the challenge are on the bright side, I love the orange and purple that resulted from the blending :-)

If you have not already visited the above sites, I hope you will find the time to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Using Sponge Daubers, apply So Saffron Classic Ink to the top of a piece of Whisper White cardstock, then apply Melon Mambo Classic Ink to the center (blending with the So Saffron) and Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink at the bottom (blending with the Melon Mambo).

Trim the panel and stamp the Landscape Silhouettes image and the sentiment from Faith (both Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) using My Favorite Things (MFT) Steel Grey Ink.

Ink the image from Landscape Silhouettes with MFT Steel Grey Ink and stamp onto a piece of acetate (I used a clear envelope), then press the acetate in position below the stamped image on the panel to create the shadows.

Darken any areas necessary with a Faber-Castell® Black Pitt Pen Marker.

Blend the ink (before it dries) a bit with an AquaPainter™ and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Apply Clear Wink of Stella® over the water area, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Trim the panel once more and mount onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base to finish off the card.

That's it- another quick and easy card!

You're Absolutely Fabulous- Cards for a Worthy Cause

Hi Stampers!

I have been busy this week creating cards for the Splitcoaststampers' April 2016 MISSION-Cards for A Cause.

This month, encouragement cards are being sent to the Miami VA Medical Center for the Homeless Veterans Program (see details here).

I am honored to have a chance to possibly give a little back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country and to think that they are now homeless and in medical need.....if you would like to send cards to this cause, there is still time  (again, please see details here- if you do not have a Splitcoaststampers’ sign-on, it is free to sign up).

I have several cards finished for this card drive and will share over the next few days- this one was designed using the Mojo443 Sketch Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ WT578 “Shabby Chic”Challenge.

To create this card:

Ink the Landscape Silhouettes image from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps (SNSS) using Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock (I used my MISTI® Tool so I could stamp several times for a very dark image).

Use the 1 ¼” Circle Punch with sticky note paper to create a mask for the “sun/moon” and place over the stamped image.

With a Sponge Dauber and Dusty Durango Classic Ink (retired) apply ink to the sky , lift up the mask and sponge a bit onto the sun/moon.

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

The background layers were created using retired Stampin’ Up! Outlaw Designer Series Paper (DSP), distressing the edges with the Distressing Tool and mounting onto Early Espresso cardstock (some of the background pieces were die cut with stitched square or rectangle dies).

The card base is retired Dusty Durango cardstock and the star border was cut from Very Vanilla cardstock with the SNSS Hearts and Stars Scallop Border Die Set.

The other three stars were cut from My Favorite Things (MFT) Stitched Stars STAX Dies and the smaller two stars are layered onto Wplus9 Clear Cut Stacker Stars Dies.

The tiny stars (Very Vanilla) in the centers of the stitched stars are the negative die cut pieces from the SNSS Stars Scalloped Border Die- woohoo, nothing went to waste!

The sentiment is from a retired Stampin’ Up! set, Absolutely Fabulous and the banner points were created with the Hexagon Punch.

Stamp Sets: Absolutely Fabulous (retired Stampin’ Up!), Landscape Silhouettes (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)

Ink: Early Espresso, retired Dusty Durango, Faber-Castell® Black Pitt Pen Marker

Paper/Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, retired Dusty Durango, retired Outlaw DSP

Accessories: MISTI® Tool, Big Shot™, retired Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder,  Heart and Stars Scallop Border Dies (SNSS), Stitched Rectangle, Square and Star STAX Dies (MFT),  Clear Stacker Stars Dies (Wplus9), Distressing Tool, Sponge Dauber, Sticky Note Paper, Punches-  Banner Triple, Hexagon, 1 ¼” Circle
