PP31 Sketch Challenge

As promised, here is the card that I made for this week’s PP31 Sketch Challenge at The Paper Players designed by Ann (http://www.thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/).   It has been a pleasure to be a Guest Designer with such a wonderful group of ladies on the Design Team at The Paper Players!  They are all so talented and have given me so much inspiration and encouragement- please take a moment to visit the blog and give them some "love":-)

I love this sketch and decided to pull out one of my "old" favorite sets – Upsy Daisy and create another vintage card.  I seem to be drawn to the vintage style with all of the sponging, lace and ribbon details.  Even though I love the CAS look, it seems as though I struggle with the CAS or more contemporary styles:-)

To create this card:

Using the Big Shot, emboss a Crumb Cake panel with the Vintage Wallpaper EF and sponge with Early Espresso Classic Ink.   Mount this panel onto Basic Black.  Attach the 5/8” Basic Black ribbon and lace to the background panel and set aside.

Use your brayer to apply Marina Mist ink lightly and randomly onto a 2 ½” x 3 ½” piece of Whisper White.  Stamp the Upsy Daisy floral stamp with Early Espresso and then again in Basic Black over the Marina Mist background.

Use the Color Spritzer Tool with an Early Espresso marker to lightly “spritz” the stamped images. Using Sponge Daubers with Soft Suede and Crumb Cake, antique the area around the flowers and edges.   Mount onto Basic Black, then onto Soft Suede and spray with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

Attach a 5/8” Black Satin Ribbon bow on the left and a small piece of 5/8” Black Satin Ribbon over the top right corner and adhere the Vintage Brad (I removed the stem from the brad and used a glue dot).

I used previously embossed scraps with the Finial Press EF for the circles on the sentiment- Basic Black (1 ¼” circle) and Soft Suede (1 ¾” circle).  The sentiment is from Elements of Style stamped onto Whisper White with the Marina Mist background treatment described above for the floral image.  Apply adhesive and tuck under the ribbon layer, add pearls to finish the card.

Stamp Sets:  Upsy Daisy, Elements of Style
Cardstock:  Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Soft Suede
Accessories: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper EF,  Sponge Daubers, The Color Spritzer Tool, Early Espresso SU! Marker, Frost White Shimmer Paint, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Vintage Brad, Pearls

Thanks again for visiting my blog and for all of your encouragement- have a great week!

Great card Julie. It is so romantic looking. I love the Upsy Daisy set too, so it's nice to see someone else using it too.
