One Layer Christmas Blessings

Hi Friends!!

This evening I am sharing a quick CAS (Clean and Simple) One Layer card designed using the retired Stampin’ Up! Sets, Bells & Boughs and Christmas Blessings.

I am still working on inking up my retired sets and have always loved this poinsettia image from Bells & Boughs.

I paired it with the Christmas Blessings sentiment (love the font on this set) and will be linking to the Less Is More #407 “One Layer Winter Flora” Challenge, the SUO Challenges #SUOC235 “Fav Holiday Products”  and the Simon Says Wednesday “Simon Says:Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will visit the above challenge sites- fabulous inspiration from all!

This card was very easy to create- fold a piece of Extra Thick Whisper White cardstock in half for the card base, de-static with an embossing powder tool, stamp the poinsettia image with VersafineOnyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the image has cooled, create a  mask and repeat the process for another partial image.

Watercolor using water-based markers (see colors listed below).

Stamp and emboss the sentiment in the same manner and finish off the card with white highlights to the flower centers and shimmer on the petals with a clear glitter pen.

So easy and it will be easy to mail as well :-)

Stamp Sets: Bells & Boughs, Christmas Blessings (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Bravo Burgundy, Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Old Olive; Wink of Stella™ Clear Glitter Pen, White Gel Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Extra Thick Whisper White

PP465 The Open Sea

Hi Friends!!

I am sharing another card today that I created using scraps that I discovered during my recent craft room reorganization.

The main focal image and compass had been printed out from My Digital Studio (The Open Sea) a few years ago and decided to watercolor using the Splitcoaststampers CC763 "Lovely Coastal Blueberries" Color Challenge and included the optional dessert- Nautical.

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will visit the above challenge sites- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4” x 5 ¼”.  Ink the sentiment with Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink and stamp onto the lower right-hand portion of the panel.

Scribble the dark blue marker onto a silicone mat, spritz with water and press the panel into the ink to create the splatter background.  Add a bit more texture with the splatter stamp inked with black ink.

Mount the panel onto a piece of aqua cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of hot pink cardstock.

Add the strip of corrugated blue cardstock, add the knotted silver cord (wrapping the ends behind the panel) and adhere the entire panel onto a white card base.

Watercolor The Open Sea images with water-based markers, trim and mount onto aqua cardstock, trim and mount onto hot pink cardstock.

Add the small photo corners from hot pink cardstock, insert silver brads and mount the layered image onto the card front with dimensional foam or chipboard.

Punch the compass image out using circle punches, die cut a piece of aqua cardstock and adhere the enter part of the compass with dimensional foam.

Insert a silver mini brad in the center and mount the compass onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Finish off the card with a clear glitter pen over the water and an extra fine white paint pen for the tops of the waves.

Stamp Sets: The Open Sea (digital images – Stampin’ Up!), New Mercies (retired Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Brilliant Blue, Coastal Cabana, Lovely Lipstick; Wink of Stella™ Clear Glitter Pen, Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Lovey Lipstick, retired Brilliant Blue

Accessories: Big Shot™, Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Sizzix Circles Dies; 1” and ¾” Circle Punches; AquaPainter, Silver Cord, Mini Silver Brads

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope all of you have a wonderful week!

Heartspeak Blessings

Hi Friends!!

This card was designed using the retired Stampin’ Up! set, Heartspeak  (for the focal image) and the sentiment is from the retired Doily Blessings stamp set(Our Daily Bread Designs).

I have always loved this little bird image with its ruffled appearance and I wanted to give this stamp set some "love" (I have not inked this stamp since 2015).  When I was re-organizing my craft room this summer,  I found the embossed lacy die cut along with the embossed blue and yellow panels in my stash .  Because most of the background had already been die cut and embossed, this was a fairly quick and easy card to create!

I was inspired by the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 October Sketch for the layout (I did modify the sketch  a bit with the addition of the circle sentiment) and am also participating with TheHouse That Stamps Built #0919 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (far left column down- Wildlife, Texture, Stencil) and the Word Art Wednesday #410-#411 “Anything Goes”Challenge.

If you have not had the opportunity, I hope you will visit the above challenge sites- great inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the bird with the basket image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto a piece of prepared white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with water-based markers (see colors below) and die cut with a stitched circle die.  Mount onto a circle die cut from espresso cardstock.

Repeat the steps above with the sentiment image.

Use a stencil brush along with a flourish stencil to apply tumbled glass distress oxide ink over the sky area around the bird as well as the sentiment.  Carefully wipe off the excess ink from the sentiment.

Trim a piece of white cardstock to approx. 4 ⅛” x 5 ⅜” and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock (4 ¼” x 5 ½”).  Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

Trim two pieces of light blue cardstock and emboss both with a textured embossing folder.  Mount onto espresso cardstock and add directly to the card front.

Die cut and emboss a piece of espresso cardstock using the largest die from Layered Lacey Square Dies (Divinity Designs LLC).  Trim a piece of white cardstock to fit the interior of the die cut, trim a piece of saffron cardstock to fit the interior of the white square and emboss the saffron cardstock with the same textured embossing folder used for the light blue pieces in the step above.

Mount the entire layered square onto the card front with dimensional foam or chipboard.

Mount the focal image along with the sentiment onto the card front with dimensional foam or chipboard.

Use a clear glitter pen on the birds  along with a white gel pen for highlights for the flower centers to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Heartspeak (retired Stampin’ Up!), Doily Blessings (retired Our Daily Bread Designs)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Hotlz™ Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide, Stampin’ Write Markers- Bashful Blue, Blushing Bride, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Elegant Eggplant, Smoky Slate, Wild Wasabi, Wink of Stella™ Clear Glitter Pen, White Gel Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Early Espresso, So Saffron

Accessories: Big Shot™, Lacy Brocade Textured Embossing Folder (retired Stampin’ Up!), Dies- MFT Stitched Circle STAX, Sizzix Circles, Divinity Designs LLC Layered Lacey Squares; Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, AquaPainter, Clarity™ Stencil Brush, Memory Box™ Flourish Stencil

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- you are all such an encouragement to me!!

May the blessings of the LORD be upon you this week :-)

SC762 Peace Within

Hi Friends!!

Today I am sharing a card that was designed using the retired Stampin’ Up! set, Peace Within (for the focal image) and the sentiment from Olive and Oak (Power Poppy by Marcella digi).   I have not used the Peace Within set for several years and found the printed sentiment already die cut in my stash during the recent re-organization of my craft room :-)

I used the Splitcoaststampers (SCS) SC762 Sketch for the layout and am also joining the Cards4 Galz #108 Something Beginning with an "S” (S=Straw Basket, Stitched Dies, Stitched Ribbon, Stampin’ Up!) along with the Word Art Wednesday #410-#411 “Anything Goes”Challenge.

To create this card:

Ink the bird with the basket image with Versafine™ Onyx Black, stamp onto a piece of prepared white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.
Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with water-based markers (see colors below) and die cut with a stitched circle die.  Mount onto a circle die cut from espresso cardstock.

Import the sentiment from the digi set into a word processing program, re-size and print out onto white cardstock. Die cut with a stitched circle die, mount onto a circle die cut from espresso cardstock.

Dry emboss a piece of white cardstock with the lacy brocade embossing folder (retired Stampin’ Up!), trim and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto light pink cardstock.

Add a strip of chevron grosgrain ribbon along with the crochet lace, wrapping the ends of the ribbon behind the panel.  Add a piece of ¼” stitched chocolate ribbon, again, wrapping the ends of the ribbon behind the panel.

Adhere the focal image and sentiment to the panel with dimensional foam (I used chipboard vs. foam).

Add the striped chocolate ribbon with the gold cord at the top of the card (for the triangular element in  the sketch) wrapping the ends behind the panel.  Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

Finish off the card using a clear glitter pen on the flowers along with a white gel pen for highlights.

Stamp Sets: Peace Within (retired Stampin’ Up!), Olive and Oak (digi sentiment from Power Poppy by Marcella)

TCC122 Give Thanks

Hi Friends!

Welcome to the #122 {Bountiful Blessings} Challenge at The Card Concept!  I was inspired by the deep, rich colors of the door, fruit and vegetables along with the texture to create a Shabby and Vintage/Mixed Media card!

With Thanksgiving on the horizon, I decided to ink up the retired Stampin’ Up! Grand Cornucopia for the main image and use the retired Verve Stamps sentiment from Autumn Blessings along with some older designer papers.  I have not used the Grand Cornucopia in years and wanted to give that stamp set some "love" :-)
I am also linking this card to the Make My Monday #107 “Fruit and/or Vegetable” Challenge, the IN{K}spire_ME#403 “Autumn/Halloween” Challenge and the SC298 Sketch Challenge from Splitcoaststampers (this sketch was from 2010, but thankfully, SCS challenges never end:-)).

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- such wonderful inspiration from all!

Stamp the cornucopia image with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with Stampin’ Write markers (see below for colors) and die cut with an oval stitched die.
Mount onto another oval die cut from espresso cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment onto espresso cardstock with Versamark™ ink, apply gold embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Die cut with a banner die.

Emboss a piece of designer paper with the Tin Tile Detailed Embossing Folder, lightly sand with a sanding block, trim and onto a piece of espresso cardstock.  Layer the other pieces of designer paper onto espresso cardstock and position onto the panel per the sketch.

Add the rust satin ribbon strip (wrapping the ends behind the panel) and mount the panel onto a piece of rust cardstock.  Adhere the entire panel onto a white card base.
Add the die cut oval image along with the sentiment using dimensional foam (or chipboard).

Add the triple satin ribbon bow along with the antique brad.

Use a white paint pen to add highlights to the grapes and a few pearls in the upper right hand corner to finish off the card.
