Heartspeak Blessings

Hi Friends!!

This card was designed using the retired Stampin’ Up! set, Heartspeak  (for the focal image) and the sentiment is from the retired Doily Blessings stamp set(Our Daily Bread Designs). 

I have always loved this little bird image with its ruffled appearance and I wanted to give this stamp set some "love" (I have not inked this stamp since 2015).  When I was re-organizing my craft room this summer,  I found the embossed lacy die cut along with the embossed blue and yellow panels in my stash .  Because most of the background had already been die cut and embossed, this was a fairly quick and easy card to create! 

I was inspired by the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 October Sketch for the layout (I did modify the sketch  a bit with the addition of the circle sentiment) and am also participating with TheHouse That Stamps Built #0919 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (far left column down- Wildlife, Texture, Stencil) and the Word Art Wednesday #410-#411 “Anything Goes”Challenge.

To create this card:

Ink the bird with the basket image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto a piece of prepared white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with water-based markers (see colors below) and die cut with a stitched circle die.  Mount onto a circle die cut from espresso cardstock.

Repeat the steps above with the sentiment image. 

Use a stencil brush along with a flourish stencil to apply tumbled glass distress oxide ink over the sky area around the bird as well as the sentiment.  Carefully wipe off the excess ink from the sentiment.

Trim a piece of white cardstock to approx. 4 ⅛” x 5 ⅜” and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock (4 ¼” x 5 ½”).  Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

Trim two pieces of light blue cardstock and emboss both with a textured embossing folder.  Mount onto espresso cardstock and add directly to the card front.

Die cut and emboss a piece of espresso cardstock using the largest die from Layered Lacey Square Dies (Divinity Designs LLC).  Trim a piece of white cardstock to fit the interior of the die cut, trim a piece of saffron cardstock to fit the interior of the white square and emboss the saffron cardstock with the same textured embossing folder used for the light blue pieces in the step above.

Mount the entire layered square onto the card front with dimensional foam or chipboard.

Mount the focal image along with the sentiment onto the card front with dimensional foam or chipboard.

Use a clear glitter pen on the birds  along with a white gel pen for highlights for the flower centers to finish off the card.

TCC115 Log Cabin Quilt

Hi Friends!

In creating my card for The Card Concept #115 {Mosaic Madness} Challenge  I ended up designing three cards based on the inspiration photo.  

That’s how it works for me sometimes- I will be inspired to create and will design several cards, then I have to choose my favorite for the Design Team post :-)  

While I am pleased with the way this card turned out, I felt that the initial card that I chose for the DT post (here) was a better interpretation of the mosiac medallions in the inspiration photo :-)

I love the patterns and colors of the inspiration photo and they reminded me of a quilt.  I had not used the Divinity Designs LLC Log Cabin Quilt stamp image in quite a while and decided to pair it with a verse sentiment from God Verses 2 (a set that I had not inked at all yet), plus I was able to finally use an embossing folder that I have owned for months and never used before!

I love to participate in online challenges and will be linking this card to the Simon Says Wednesday “Stitches” Challenge  (faux stitching on my card)  along with the Word Art Wednesday #386-#387 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create this card:

1). Score and fold a piece of 4.25” x 11” heavy white cardstock in half.  Emboss a piece of designer paper with the quilt embossing folder, trim to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock, trim once more to approx. 4 ⅛” x 5 ⅜”.  Add the piece of white crochet lace and a strip of 5/8” espresso satin ribbon (wrapping the ends of the ribbon to the back of the panel).  Mount the entire panel onto the white card base.

2).  De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp quilt image from Log Cabin (Divinity Designs LLC formerly Our Daily Bread Designs) using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, color the image with water-based markers.

3). Fussy cut the quilt image and mount onto a piece of white cardstock die cut with a stitched square die.  Mount the quilt onto the card front using dimensional foam.

4).  De-static another scrap piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment from God Verses 2 (Divinity Designs LLC formerly Our Daily Bread Designs) using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, die cut the sentiment with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto espresso cardstock and trim close to the edge.

5).  Mount the sentiment onto the card front and add a few buttons with strips of cardstock (for the “thread”) to finish off the card.

TCC89 Live By Faith

It’s time for The Card Concept #89  {Spring has Sprung} Challenge!!  I love this bright, crisp spring photo- don’t you?  

Spring may have sprung for some parts of the US, but for us, winter came in with full force! We had more snow than all winter on the first day of spring- lol!!  I was not going to let the snow spoil spring though and I was inspired by the yellows, blues and stripes to create a fairly simple mixed media card.

I designed this card with the Boho Cross and Boho Faith stamp sets (Our Daily Bread Designs) along with a bit of very neglected washi tape (from my massive stash).

I love participating with online challenges and am linking this card to the Simon Says National Craft Month Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #326-#327 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create this card:

1). Using a Clarity™ Stencil Brush along with a stencil, apply Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to a piece of Whisper White cardstock. 

2). Once you are satisfied with the background, de-static the cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Boho Faith with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

3). Once the embossing has cooled, place a few strips of yellow washi tape over the background (I have so much washi tape and rarely use it for cards- I need to work on this- lol!).  Trim the panel, mount onto a piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock before adhering to the white card base.

4). On another piece of Whisper White cardstock, de-static with an embossing powder tool, stamp the cross from Boho Cross with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool. Once the embossing has cooled, color with Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry and Tempting Turquoise and fussy-cut the image.

5). Loop a piece of gold metallic thread and mount onto the card front (position so you can adhere behind where you will mount the cross image).

6). Mount the cross image using dimensional foam.

7). Add shimmer to the cross image with a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen and a Pearl in the center of the cross.  Finish off with a few Morning Dew Nuvo™ Crystal Drops.

ODBD 10th Anniversary Celebration!

Woohoo!! Today Our Daily Bread Designs is celebrating their 10^th Anniversary!!  

As many of you know, I absolutely love the line of stamps at Our Daily Bread Designs featuring beautiful artwork, sentiments, Scripture verses as well as their full selection of Custom Dies!

In honor of their 10th Anniversary, ODBD is releasing 

two new stamps sets, God Verses 2 and God Quotes 2 along with 

two new Custom Dies- Fancy Circles and Filigree Circles!  

Can you imagine all of the possibilities with these new stamps and dies?  Practically endless with any variety of papers and other accessories!!

To celebrate, the current Design Team creations (known as the Breadbasket) will be featured today using these new stamps and dies and on Sunday and Monday, ODBD will be having a 10th Anniversary Breadbasket Reunion celebration!! 

Previous Breadbasket DT Members have been invited to be part

 of this reunion and I am so thrilled to one of them!! Woohoo- what an honor :-) !!

My first card features the new God Verses 2 stamp set along with the new Fancy Circles Dies and previously released Star Quilt Die, Medium Bow Dies and Americana Quilt Collection 6x6 Paper Pad.  

I decided to create a paper quilt with white and navy cardstock along with two of the Americana Quilt Collection prints  *** FYI- I cut four full quilts- one from each of the colors of cardstock and designer paper. I used press 'n seal to hold the pieces together until I assembled this quilt- this is an easy way to keep your quilts together and you can use the other die cut pieces to create three additional quilts for other projects :-)***  

My second card features the God Verses 2 stamp set, Fancy Circles Dies, SunburstBackground Die and Bitty Blossoms Dies.  

This was a very quick card, heat embossing the sentiment and the rest is die cutting/embossing :-)

My third card features God Verses 2 stamp set, Fancy Circles Dies, Pierced Circles, Ornate Hearts Dies, Beautiful Borders Dies, Medium Bow Dies and the Americana Quilt Collection 6x6Paper Pad.  

I decided to use markers to create the multicolored verse and added a few panels of the designer paper along with a few dies and a button- quick and easy!

I had fun being part of the 10^th Anniversary Breadbasket Reunion  and remember, this is just three quick examples using the new stamp set, God Verses 2 Stamp Set plus the new Fancy Circle Dies.

F4A410- For the Lord is Good

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a great week so far!  This Easel Card Drawer Box was designed for the Splitcoaststampers  F4A410 “Favorite Stamp of 2017” Challenge. 

I could not pick just one image for my favorite but  I absolutely love sharing God’s Word on cards and thought that I would use a verse from the Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Collection 11 stamp set (this is the first time I had a chance to ink up this verse).

This is the second Easel Card Drawer Box that I created this week- the first one was for my Christmas gift to my niece (I neglected to take a photo).  The top part of the easel was hand cut to look like a piano top and a piano key die was used for the “keys” to hold up the easel.  For an added bonus, I created a money booklet and placed some cash inside the drawer.  I liked her easel card drawer so much I decided to create one for my stamping area :-)

I had the idea for this project when I saw that Splitcoaststampers Drawer Box Tutorial but also searched on YouTube and found a great video as well (see here- long but great instructions)

I am also linking this project to the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes”Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to check out the Splitcoaststampers Free For All gallery or the Simon Says Wednesday challenge site yet, I hope you will find time to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this project:

1). Cut the following pieces from Black Chipboard- a).Top- 4” x 4” ; b). Drawer – 3 ¾” x 3 ¾”  ; c). Drawer Sides (Four Total)- 2- 15/16” x 3 13/16” (note these as North & South), 2- 15/16” x 3 ¾” (note these as East & West)

From Basic Black Cardstock- a). 4” x 10 ½”- Score at 1”, 5”, 6” and 10” (case around the drawer; b). 4” x 8”- Score at 2” and 4” (easel portion of the card); c). 5 ⅞” x 5 ⅞” – Score at 1” on all four sides (this will be the drawer); d). die cut 4” x 4 ½” (for card front) and e). 4” x 2” (lower part to hold up the easel)- see step #6 for dies

From Designer Paper- a). 3 ⅝” x 3 ⅝” (drawer bottom); b). 8 pieces- 13/16” x 3 ⅝”

2). Add ScorTape to the ½” flap on the cardstock 10 ½” piece, assemble into a box.  Adhere the 4” x 4” chipboard piece to the top of the drawer box. Mount the easel card to the top of the chipboard.

3). Trim the 5 ⅞” square piece of cardstock at the two scores on the opposite sides (trim only up to the score line).  Use a piercer tool or hole punch to punch an opening for the brad handle.  Line up the North piece of chipboard and punch a coordinating hole.

4). Dry fit the North, South, East and West chipboard pieces to the inside of the drawer (cardstock piece “c” from above), trim a bit if needed and adhere to the inside of the cardstock drawer. 

5). Adhere one of the “b” pieces of designer paper to the outside of the front of the drawer, add the Antique Brad for the handle.  Mount the rest of the “b” pieces to the inside of the drawer and on the outside edges of the drawer case as well as the back of the drawer. 

FYI- I accidentally added designer paper to the outside edges of the drawer itself and had to cut two additional pieces of the designer paper. Thankfully the drawer still works properly :-)

6). From Basic Black cardstock, use the My Favorite Things™ (MFT) Die-namics Fancy Ticket Die to die cut the top part of the card (d) from Basic Black cardstock and the MFT Stitched Horizontal Strip Dies to die cut the 2” x 4” piece (e).

7). Ink the verse sentiment from ODBD Scripture Collection 11 with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, stamp onto Whisper White cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, die cut with the MFT Stitched Circle STAX Dies, mount directly onto the card front piece from Step #6.

8). Die cut several flowers from Real Red cardstock using MFT Royal Rose and MFT Mini Royal Rose Dies.  Crimp the die cuts, roll the flowers and adhere with hot glue. 

9). Punch leaves from Wild Wasabi cardstock using the Leaf Punch (Martha Stewart).

10). Add the flowers with the leaves to the card front and a few onto the lower part of the easel (to help hold up the easel when opened).

11). Use a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen to add shimmer to the rose petals.
