TCC210 Give Thanks Medallion

Hi Friends!

It’s time for our #210 {Pumpkin Season} Challenge at The Card Concept!

Fall in the Northeast US is my favorite time of year!  The colors of the leaves as they change, the crispness of the air and the fruits of the harvest are all signs of the change of season.

I was inspired by the colors of the pumpkins as well as the black and white checked patterns for my Clean and Layered/Mixed Media card!

I decided to pull out another retired Stampin’ Up! set, Frosted Medallions for the main image and the sentiment is from the retired Verve stamp set, Scripture Medley 3.

I also was able to incorporate a few stitched circles dies, especially, the “wonky” stitched circle die (which I have owned for years and rarely used). I am still striving to create cards using some of my older dies, stamps, paper, etc. :-)

I enjoy participating with online challenges and will be participating with the Cards 4 Galz #235 Circles Challenge and the Inspire.Create Stamping #178 Autumn/Halloween Challenge.

I hope you will take a moment to visit our challenge blog to see how the rest of the Design Team were inspired as well as check out the other challenge galleries to see their gorgeous creations!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of the Sunset Ink Drops 6x6 paper with an embossing powder tool, ink the Frosted Medallions image with Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamp onto the prepared paper, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, die cut with a stitched circle die.

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a “wonky” stitched circle die, layer the embossed image onto the white circle.

De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the verse sentiment with Versamark ink, stamp onto the lower left-hand area of the cardstock, apply extra fine white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the black sentiment panel to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, add the strip of black checked gingham ribbon (wrapping the ends behind the panel).

Adhere the entire black panel onto a white card base.

Mount the layered circle focal image onto the card front with dimensional foam.

To finish off the card, add the black checked double bow and a pearl to the center of the medallion.

Happiest of Days

Hi Friends!!

Today I am sharing a card that was designed using retired Stampin’ Up! sets, Bear Necessities (for the focal image) and Frosted Medallions (for the sentiment) along with retired designer series paper, Sweater Weather.

I used the Splitcoaststampers (SCS) SC771 Sketch for the layout and am also joining the Cards4 Galz #108 Something Beginning with an "S” (S= Sweater, Stitched Dies, Swirling Leaves, Sweater Weather DSP, Squares, Stampin’ Up!) along with the Color My Heart Color Dare #365 Inspiration Challenge (I used green, orange, yellow, purple, black, grey and brown),  the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #244 “Helen’sAll About Occasions” Challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday "Fall/Autumn" Colors Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to drop by the above challenge sites yet, I hope you do so-  beautiful inspiration from all!

Ink the bear image with Versafine™ Onyx Black, stamp onto a piece of prepared white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with water-based markers (see colors below) and add a bit of grass with a black waterproof pen.  Die cut with a stitched circle die and mount onto a circle die from espresso cardstock.

Dry emboss a piece of white cardstock with the Quilt Top embossing folder, trim and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto the white card base.

Die cut the retired Sweater Weather designer series paper with a stitched square die, mount onto espresso cardstock, trimming close to the edge.

Mount the four squares directly to the card front and mount the focal image onto the card with dimensional foam.

Heat emboss the sentiment with clear embossing powder, trim and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock. Mount onto the card front directly onto the focal image using dimensional foam on the edges.

Using a clear glitter pen add shimmer to the leaves to finish off the card.

SC672 Frosted Medallion Thanksgiving

Hi Friends!

It’s Wednesday and time again for the weekly sketch at Splitcoaststampers! Allison is our sketch artist this week and I thought this sketch would be perfect for a holiday card!

Since we are celebrating Thanksgiving this week in the United States, I decided to create a non-traditional Thanksgiving card using Stampin’ Up! stamp sets- retired Frosted Medallions for the main image and the current Painted Harvest for the sentiment.

If you have not had a chance to visit the SC672 Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch gallery or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®, stamp the medallion image with Versamark™ ink onto the prepared panel, apply Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Once the powder has cooled, color with Stampin’ Write Tempting Turquoise and Chocolate Chip markers.

2). Die cut the image with a stitched circle die. Die cut a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock with a nesting circle die (just a bit larger than the stitched die) and die cut a piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock with the same size nesting circle die.  Layer the Chocolate Chip die cut circle behind the embossed image and split the Tempting Turquoise die cut in half before layering one half behind the upper part of the Chocolate Chip circle.

3). Emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and mount onto a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock.  Mount the entire background panel onto the white card base.

4). Trim off a bit of the Frosted Medallion circle before adding to the card front with dimensional foam.

5). Stamp the sentiment from Painted Harvest with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Create the fishtail banner points (I used the retired Hexagon Punch), mount onto Chocolate Chip cardstock, trim to match and mount onto Tempting Turquoise cardstock (trimming again to match the layers).

6). Mount the sentiment with dimensional foam and add a Pearl to the center of the medallion image to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Frosted Medallions, Painted Harvest (Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™; Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, Stampin’ Write Markers- Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise

Paper: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise

Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, MFT Pierced Circle STAX Dies, retired SU! Circle Framelits™, retired Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Pearl, Embossing Buddy®, Gold EP, Heat Tool, retired Hexagon Punch
