RRCB173 Sending Christmas Blessings

Hi Friends!

Woohoo!  One of the perks of participating with The Retro Rubber Challenge Blog is that you have a chance to be a Guest Designer and this week,  I am honored to be the Guest Designer for their #173 Inspiration Challenge!

I was inspired by the greenery, red berries and Christmas theme and decided to pull out two retired stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!- Remembering Christmas and Christmas Blessings.  Both sets are from 2013 and this is the first time I have used the Remembering Christmas stamp set- love the deer image and not sure why it has taken so long to ink it up!

We would also love to have you join us at The Retro Rubber Challenge blog- pull out your older stamps (at least one year old), create a card and link up to the gallery!

I have a personal goal to create a card for each of the Splitcoaststampers’ sketches and I used the SC741 Sketch for the layout.

If you have not had a chance to visit all of the challenge sites, I hope you will find time to do so- inspiration galore!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the deer image from Remembering Christmas with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink onto the prepared panel, apply Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once cooled, fussy-cut the deer image and set aside.

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched oval die, mount onto another oval die cut from black cardstock (I generally use the same size die cut, cut in half and mount behind the top oval, in this case, allowing just a bit of the background oval to show).

Mount the fussy-cut deer image onto the oval, allowing a bit of the antlers to hang over the die cut.

Trim a piece of plaid cardstock to approx. 3” x 5” and adhere to a piece of white cardstock, approx. 3 ¼” x 5 ¼”.

For the layers on the right, I used scraps from my stash (designer paper with green background and gold stars and a scrap of white cardstock embossed with a poinsettia embossing folder).

Mount the strip of white embossed cardstock (approx. ½” x 5 ¼”) onto a piece of black cardstock (4 ¼” x 5 ½”).

Layer a strip of the green designer paper onto the card front overlapping the white embossed layer a bit.

Mount the plaid panel onto the card front and add the deer oval with dimensional foam.

Die cut various branches from green cardstock using the Leaves & Branches Dies (Divinity Designs LLC).

Adhere the branches to below the deer image and add the ⅜” black and white gingham bow.

Ink the sentiment stamp from Christmas Blessings with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink onto the prepared panel, apply Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the sentiment and create the banner points (I did this by hand and curved the edge).

Mount the sentiment onto the card front and add a few silver rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Remembering Christmas, Christmas Blessings (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums:  Versafine™ Onyx Black

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Christmas paper- plaid and green with gold stars, red and gray plaid (Stampin’ Up!)

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr.™,  Leaves & Branches Dies (Divinity Designs LLC), Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder (retired SU!), Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, ⅜” Black and White Gingham Ribbon, Silver Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you have been inspired to join us at The Retro Rubber Challenge Blog!  I hope all of you have a blessed Christmas month!

One Layer Christmas Blessings

Hi Friends!!

This evening I am sharing a quick CAS (Clean and Simple) One Layer card designed using the retired Stampin’ Up! Sets, Bells & Boughs and Christmas Blessings.

I am still working on inking up my retired sets and have always loved this poinsettia image from Bells & Boughs.

I paired it with the Christmas Blessings sentiment (love the font on this set) and will be linking to the Less Is More #407 “One Layer Winter Flora” Challenge, the SUO Challenges #SUOC235 “Fav Holiday Products”  and the Simon Says Wednesday “Simon Says:Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will visit the above challenge sites- fabulous inspiration from all!

This card was very easy to create- fold a piece of Extra Thick Whisper White cardstock in half for the card base, de-static with an embossing powder tool, stamp the poinsettia image with VersafineOnyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the image has cooled, create a  mask and repeat the process for another partial image.

Watercolor using water-based markers (see colors listed below).

Stamp and emboss the sentiment in the same manner and finish off the card with white highlights to the flower centers and shimmer on the petals with a clear glitter pen.

So easy and it will be easy to mail as well :-)

Stamp Sets: Bells & Boughs, Christmas Blessings (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Bravo Burgundy, Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Old Olive; Wink of Stella™ Clear Glitter Pen, White Gel Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Extra Thick Whisper White

Accessories: AquaPainter™, Embossing Buddy, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a blessed week/ weekend!

#RRCB53 Christmas Blessings To You

Hi Stampers!!

Woohoo!  I am super excited to be the Guest Designer for the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #53 Color Challenge!

One of the perks of playing along with the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog is that if you are chosen as the challenge favorite, you have the opportunity to guest design for one of their future challenges!

One of the rules of The Retro Rubber Challenge Blog is that you need to use stamps that are over a year old so I pulled out two retired Stampin’ Up!  stamp sets- Winter Memories for the sled image and Christmas Blessings for the sentiment (both are several years old).

I am also linking this card to the Simon Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler, then again onto Garden Green cardstock.

Add the white crochet lace and ½” Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon, wrapping the ends around the panel.

Mount the entire panel onto the Whisper White card base.

Ink the retired sled image from Winter Memories using Stampin’ Archival™ Basic Black Ink, stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and water color with Stampin’ Write Markers- Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Tip Top Taupe, Soft Suede and Pool Party using an AquaPainter™.

Use the Heat Tool to dry the watercolor panel, add white highlights with an extra fine white paint pen ad die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die.

Mount the watercolor panel onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock, trim and mount onto Garden Green cardstock and add to the card front with dimensional foam.

Finish off the card with the ½” Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding bow, sentiment and pearls.

Stamp Sets: Winter Memories, Christmas Blessings

Ink: Basic Black Stampin’ Archival™, Stampin’ Write Markers- Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Tip Top Taupe, Soft Suede and Pool Party ; Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green

Accessories: Big Shot™, retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, MFT Stitched Rectangle STAX Dies, AquaPainter™, retired Hexagon Punch, White Crochet Lace, ½” Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon, Pearls

JUGS317 One Layer Poinsettia Christmas

Hi Friends!!

It’s time for the new Just Us Girls #317 “One Layer” Challenge and I decided to create a quick Christmas card using Heat Embossing along with Watercolor.

This is my last challenge as a Guest Designer for October and I have truly loved designing with these talented ladies :-)

I hope you will have a chance to check out the rest of the fabulous Just Us Girls Design Teamprojects, pull out your supplies and join in on the fun!

It was a bit difficult to photograph this card since the panel seems
to warp a bit with the watercoloring but it is flatter IRL :-)
To create this card:

Score a 4.25” x 11” piece of Naturals White cardstock and de-static the front panel using the Embossing Buddy®, stamp the poinsettia and leaf images from the retired set, Joyful Christmas using Versamark™ Ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Color using an AquaPainter™ with Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow Classic Ink.  Add additional color using the same colors in Stampin’ Write Markers- spritz with water and allow the colors to run a bit.

Carefully dry the panel with the Heat Tool and once dried, use the Daffodil Delight  Stampin’ Write markers to color the center.

Here is a straight frontal view- again the curve of the lens seems
to accentuate the paper curve from the watercoloring :-)
Stamp the sentiment from the retired set, Christmas Blessings using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and add splatters using Gorgeous Grunge with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink as well.

Quick and easy- perfect for Christmas!

Stamp Sets:  Joyful Christmas, Christmas Blessings (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Versamark™, Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow; Stampin’ Write Markers- Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, Daffodil Delight

Paper: Naturals White

Accessories: Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for visiting- I hope you have a wonderful week and come play along with us at Just Us Girls!

HYCCT1525 Christmas Blessings To You

Hi Friends!!

Again, if you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will find the time to visit the above galleries- wonderful inspiration from all!!

This was a quick, easy card to create- ink and stamp the images with Versamark™ onto Whisper White cardstock, emboss with White Embossing Powder and watercolor with Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow and More Mustard.

Fussy cut the poinsettias and position onto the die cut More Mustard panel, mount onto the embossed Whisper White panel and layer onto More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

Another view to show that there is very little
dimension so less postage is needed as well :-)
Add the stamped sentiment with dimensional foam and you are finished!

Stamp Sets:  Joyful Christmas, Christmas Blessings (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Versamark™, Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, retired More Mustard Classic Ink and Stampin' Write Markers

Paper: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Blueprints 13 Die, Hexagon Punch, AquaPainter™, Water Spritzer Bottle, retired Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I will be posting more of the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge cards shortly!

Snowflake Monochromatic Faux Silk- Two Cards from One Panel :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

Here are two additional cards that I created using the Merry Monday #149Monochromatic Blue Challenge for inspiration along with the Splitcoaststampers’CCC15 Christmas Card Challenge and the F4A261 Lucky to Have Tutorials Challenge

I had received a gift bag this past Christmas with this beautiful blue and white tissue paper, and of course, I had to save the paper for use in Faux SilkTechnique :-).  This monochromatic blue color challenge seemed to be the perfect excuse for me to try this technique and with one 4 ¼’ x 5 ½” panel, these two cards were the result...

Again, if you have not had time to visit the challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- great ideas and inspiration from all!

To create the Faux Silk panel:

Using the Splitcoaststampers’ tutorial here, apply Mod Podge™ to a piece of Whisper White cardstock, place the crumpled up tissue paper over the cardstock and sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds over the moistened tissue paper.

Once the layer was dry, cut the tissue paper into panels to create the cards.

This card was difficult to photograph- it is very sparkly IRL :-)
To create Card #1:

Cut the 2” wide panel into four sections and mount onto Night of Navy cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Mount the four Faux Silk sections onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment from Brushstroke Angel using Night of Navy Classic Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and create the banner points using the Hexagon Punch, mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and use the Banner Punch again to create the banner points.

Mount the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Adhere the retired All is Calm Snowflake Embellishments with the retired Silver Cord.

Add the Rhinestones to the centers of the embellishments as well as a few of the tissue paper snowflakes to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Brushstroke Angel

Ink: Night of Navy

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy; Tissue Paper from my stash

Accessories: Big Shot™. Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Hexagon Punch, Rhinestones, Dazzling Diamonds, retired All is Calm Snowflake Embellishments, retired Silver Cord

To create Card #2:

Cut the Faux Silk panel into a 2” strip and punch the top using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  Cut another piece from Night of Navy cardstock and punch the top with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch as well.   Trim the Night of Navy to length and mount behind the Faux Silk panel.

Add a piece of crocheted white lace at the bottom of the tag and adhere a scrap piece of Night of Navy cardstock to hide the seam of the lace.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, trim once more and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Add the tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Create a bow with the Bow Builder Punch using Night of Navy cardstock and adhere to the top of the tag.  Add the retired Frosted Finishes Embellishment to the center of the bow.

Stamp the sentiment from Christmas Blessings using Night of Navy Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim to 2” wide and adhere to the tag.

Add the Rhinestones to the bottom of the tag to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Blessings

Ink: Night of Navy

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy; Tissue Paper from my stash

Accessories: Big Shot™. Northern Flurry Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Rhinestones, Dazzling Diamonds, retired Frosted Finishes Embellishment, crochet lace from my stash

Thanks again for visiting- have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Christmas Sunset- Three Challenges in One!

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to share one more card that I created this past weekend for the FabFri57 Color Challenge along with the Poppy Power Power & Spark “The Sky is theLimit” Challenge and the CCC15 Christmas Card Challenge at Splitcoaststampers :-)

The sky on this card reminds me of one late fall evening’s sunset (sorry, I did not have my camera) but tried to recreate the scene using a sponged/masked background :-)

I hope you will have the time to check out the above challenge sites- great designs and inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Using the 1 ¼” Circle Punch, punch out a circle from sticky note paper or scrap paper for the moon.

Place the paper with the opening on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and use a Sponge Dauber to apply Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral Classic Ink onto the moon area.

Remove the mask and apply the circle mask over the sponged moon.

Create a mask for the hills using scrap paper and using Sponge Daubers, apply Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Real Red Classic Ink to the sky area.

Remove the mask for the hill, reposition to create snow banks and apply Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Ink with the Sponge Dauber.

Re-mask the hill areas and stamp the trees using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Window Frame Framelits™ to cut out the image along with another frame from Basic Black cardstock.   Cut the Basic Black frame in half and adhere behind the focal image.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Punch the border using the Martha Stewart Deep Edge Garden Trellis Punch from Whisper White cardstock, mount a piece of Basic Black cardstock behind the punched piece and mount onto the embossed Whisper White panel.  Trim and add a piece of ⅝” Basic Black Satin Ribbon.

Adhere the entire panel onto the Crisp Cantaloupe card base and add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, trim and add the banner ends using the Hexagon Punch.

Mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock (add the banner ends with the Hexagon Punch) and adhere to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the snowflakes using a White Gel Pen to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Christmas Blessings

Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Real Red, Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, White Gel Pen

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe

Accessories: Big Shot™, Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Wiindow Frames Collection Framelits™, Sponge Daubers, Hexagon Punch, MS Deep Edge Garden Trellis Punch, ⅝” Basic Black Satin Ribbon, sticky note or scrap paper
