Hi Friends!

This mainly one layer Mixed Media card was designed using a current set from Stamp Simply, Grace (for the verse sentiment) along with the butterfly image from the retired Wonderful Wings stamp set (Stampin’ Up!).

I wanted to participate with a few online challenges and will be playing along with the Double “D” 08/05“Butterflies” Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #450- #451 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the Wonderful Wings stamp image with Versamark™ ink, stamp onto the prepared cardstock, apply white  embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, color the butterfly with water based markers (gently wipe off the excess ink with a paper towel being careful note to spread the ink beyond the butterfly image).

Create a mask for the butterfly and once the mask is in place, apply broken china distress oxide over the background using a sponge dauber. 

Once you are satisfied with the results, apply chipped sapphire distress oxide ink with a sponge dauber using a flourish stencil.  Lightly spritz with water and re-apply ink as needed.  Dry the background with a heat tool (being careful around the butterfly).

De-static the background below the butterfly with an embossing powder tool, ink the sentiment from Grace (Stamp Simply) with chipped sapphire distress oxide ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, trim the panel, mount onto midnight cardstock, trim and mount onto a white card base.

Finish off the card by applying shimmer to the butterfly wings using a clear glitter pen.

He Will Sustain You

I hope all of you are having a great week so far!  We are still receiving quite a bit of rain in our area and I am praying for all of those who have been affected by flooding and hurricanes.  I know that we have received over 300% of our average rainfall so far this year and additional local flooding is anticipated this weekend.

I wanted to take a break from housework, etc. and create a quick card,  I decided to use an image from a retired Stampin’ Up! set (isn’t it amazing what you can find when you decide to organize- lol!) and paired it with a current image from Stamp Simply for a simple one layer card.

I will be linking this card to the Less Is More #380 “One Layer Floral” Challenge along with the Simon Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge galleries yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous ideas and projects by all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock (FYI- I used a piece I had in my stash that I had obtained free from my previous job at a printing company- it has a bit of a matte gloss finish and is quite heavy).  Ink the floral image from the retired Stampin’ Up! Sunflower Serenade stamp set with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  

2). Once the embossing has cooled, use a water brush and watercolor the image with  Tim Holtz® Distress Inks and Stampin’ Write Markers (see colors listed below).  Use a soft gray marker to add a few shadows.

3). De-static the lower right hand area for the sentiment, ink the verse image from Fear Not (Stamp Simply) with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

The card is finished- quick and easy and no additional postage required :-)

I love the fonts used in the Stamp Simply Fear Not set, don't you?  Such a versatile stamp set with verses that can comfort during times of stress, loss and illness.  I received this set as a gift from a very precious friend and absolutely love it!

Girl Power- Let's Do This

I hope all of you are having a great week so far! Today I am sharing another card using the May Creative Worship release stamp sets, Girl Power and Let’s Do This from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps. 

The possibilities with Girl Power and Let’s Do This are almost limitless!  I love that can both sets can be used for cards as well as Bible Art Journaling, scrapbooking, gifts and home décor. 

I incorporated the Tuesday Throwdown #394 “Create Your Own Background” Challenge, the Double D “Bling It Up” Challenge along with the Simon Wednesday “Use More Than One Stamp” Challenge.

To create this card:

1).  De-static a piece of white card with an embossing powder tool, ink the Girl Power image with archival black ink, stamp onto the panel, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Stamp another image of the girl onto a piece of scrap paper to create a mask.

2). Mask the Girl Power image and use distress oxide inks to blend the background.

3). De-static the background with an embossing powder tool, ink the Let’s Do This sentiments with embossing ink, stamp onto the prepared background, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Sponge additional ink as needed and spritz a bit of water to create the splatters in the background.

4). Color the girl image with water based and alcohol markers. Add a bit of shimmer to her dress with a clear glitter pen.  Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock.

5). Adhere the card front to a white card base and add a few rhinestones to finish off the card.

SUO195 Favorite Sentiment

Hi Friends!   

It’s time for the #195 “A Favorite Sentiment” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!  

I love using Scripture verses on my card so I decided to use the verse from the Occasions Mini stamp set, Hold On To Hope and incorporated the flowers from the Painted Harvest stamp set (carried over from the 2017 Holiday Mini) and a bit of splatter from Timeless Textures for a very simple card :-)

The main panel on this card is just one layer and since I did not have my ink pads near me when I created this card, I used masking along with Stampin’ Write Markers for the entire card (I love using markers for omitting and other techniques, don’t you? :-))

I am also participating with the Simon Says Monday “In My Garden” Challenge along with the TGIF #148 “Masking Technique” Challenge and the Addicted to Stamps and More #281 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challengesite to check out the rest of the Design Team’s samples or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- terrific inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the solid flower image from Painted Harvest with a Blushing Bride marker, stamp onto the lower part of a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Ink the more detailed petal image with a Berry Burst marker and stamp over the solid image.  Stamp another detailed petal image flower onto a piece of scrap paper (or sticky note/masking paper), fussy cut the image and use this as your mask.

2). Mask the first flower and repeat the steps above to stamp the second and third flower (re-masking each flower as you proceed).  ***FYI- I used Flirty Flamingo as the base for the last two flowers versus Blushing Bride***

3). Ink the flower center image with an Early Espresso marker and stamp in the middle of the petals.  Use an AquaPainter™ to blend any areas that are missing ink or may be a bit misaligned.

4). Re-mask each flower as you stamp the outline leaf image with a Lemon Lime Twist marker.

5). Ink the sentiment from Hold On To Hope with a Basic Black marker (the words on each top line), stamp onto the panel, then ink the “Made You”, “Carry You”, “Sustain You”, “Rescue You” with the Berry Burst marker and re-stamp onto the panel.

6). Add a bit of splatter with the small splatter stamp from Timeless Textures, inked with the Early Espresso marker. 

7). Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Berry Burst cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

8). To finish off the card, apply shimmer to all of the flower petals with Clear Wink of Stella®.

One Layer Under Ten Minute Card

I hope all of you are having a great week so far! Last night, I had a chance to create a One Layer Clean and Simple card for the As You See It #160 “Speed Stamping Shades of Orange” Challenge and decided to use my neglected Sunflower Barn stamp from Impression Obsession, Inc.

This card took me a full 8 minutes 53 seconds to complete! The sentiment is a rub-on from a retired Stampin’ Up! set of Autumn Harvest rub-ons (I still have plenty of these on hand to use and it worked great for this 10 minute card).

I am also linking this card to the Inkspirational #145 One Layer Card Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #304-#305 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create this card:

1). Fold a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of heavy duty white cardstock in half, score along the fold line.  **FYI*** my last accounting job was with a printing company and they had quite a bit of coated white cardstock as a leftover from a print job and I was fortunate to obtain the overstock- woohoo!  It works great for card bases and is heavy enough for some mixed media applications as well)...this is what I used for the card base on this card. 

2). Use an embossing powder tool to de-static the surface, ink the Sunflower Barn image with Versafine® Onyx Black Ink, stamp onto the front of the card (leaving room for the sentiment at the bottom), apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.

3). Using Tim Holtz® Distress Inks along with an AquaPainter™, watercolor the image quickly- I used Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin and Ripe Persimmon. Use a heat tool to dry the watercolor (carefully) and add a few shadows with a water-based marker.

4). Add the rub-on sentiment at the bottom and add a bit of shimmer to the petals with a clear glitter pen to finish off the card.

Wow, this card was so easy to create and there is something about the freedom of a time limit...yes, a bit stressful but also back to basics for sure!  I may have to start timing myself more often- lol!!

One Layer Floral Prayers

I had a chance to create a card this evening and decided to try a Clean and Simple (CAS) One Layer Card.  I paired the retired Stampin’ Up! Choose Happiness stamp set along with Hero Arts Stamp and Cuts Prayers using masking and watercolor.

I incorporated the CAS(E) This Sketch #238 Sketch Challenge, the Sunday Stamps SSC161 "Autumn Rainbow" Color Challenge, the Less is More #345 One Layer with Coloring Challenge and the Flower Challenge #12 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (Embossing, Distress Inks, Sentiment).

To create this card:

1). Score and fold a piece of 4 ¼” x 11” Naturals White cardstock in half.

2). Ink the floral image from Choose Happiness with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Create a mask, mask the flower and repeat the steps for additional flowers and leaves.

3). Watercolor the flowers, leaves and background area using Distress Inks- Wild Honey, Broken China, Salted Ocean, Seedless Preserves and Blueprint Sketch.

4). Once the watercolor has dried, de-static the lower part of the card front with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Hero Arts Prayers Stamp and Cuts using Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.

5). Spritz a bit of diluted Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink over the front and add highlights using an extra fine white paint pen to the flower centers.  Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the flower petals and background to finish off the card.

One Layer CAS Timeless Classic Thank You

Hi Friends!!

I am still working on organizing my stamping area but decided to take a break to create a One Layer CAS (Clean and Simple) card using the Timeless Classic stamp set along with the large splatter image from the retired Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I  had originally purchased the Timeless Classic stamp set from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps several years ago (it is retired now from SNSS but is still available from Impression Obsession™ t/a I/O Stamps) and have only inked it up once before today :-)

 I thought the vintage truck image would be perfect for the Less Is More #341 “One Layer Vehicles” Challenge as well as The Paper Players #357 Sandy's Color Challenge, the Addicted to CAS #117 “One Layer”Challenge and the Watercooler Wednesday #132 “Masculine Anything Goes”Challenge.

If you have not already had a chance to visit the above challenge sites, I hope you will do so- fabulous examples from their Design Teams as well as in their galleries!

To create this card:

1). Score a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of Stampin’ Up! Naturals White (retired) cardstock in half and stamp the Timeless Classic truck image onto the front of the card using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink.  Heat set the ink with a heat tool and color using an AquaPainter™ with ink from the Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz and Calypso Coral Classic Ink Pads.  Use a Spectrum Noir™ CB8 Alcohol Marker to add additional color to the truck and the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker for shadows.

2). Mask the entire truck image and stamp the large splatter image from Gorgeous Grunge with Bermuda Bay and Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink (I did use the AquaPainter™ to blend the ink a bit).

3). Remove the mask and use a Faber-Castell™ Silver Pitt Pen Marker to color the gears, border frame, wheel covers and fender.  Add shimmer to the truck panels with a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen and white highlights to the wheels with an Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen.

4). Finish off the card by stamping the sentiment from Timeless Classic with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and adding a few drops to the center of the gears using Nuvo™ Gloss Black Crystal Drops.
