I hope all of you are having a wonderful week so far!

Today I am sharing another card for Easter designed with stamps, dies and paper all from Stamp Simply.  

I love the Ink Drops paper line by Craft Consortium and used a piece if the purple from the Vivid Ink Drops 6x6 paper pad for this card.

This card is very easy to create and would be a good card for multiples.

It is fairly flat for mailing so there should not be additional postage needed as well (a plus these days since postage is getting to be so expensive)!

As many of you who follow my blog know, I have a goal to create a card using each one of the over 950+ sketches at Splitcoaststampers.  I used the SC873Sketch for the layout.

I also enjoy playing along with online challenges and will be linking this card to the As You See It #318 Go Theme Go! “Let’s Get Eggy” Easter Challenge. 

To me,  Easter is all about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  His sacrifice for our sins, death on the cross and His Resurrection are the true reason for Easter.  To all of those who believe in the Lord,  Jesus Christ shall be saved and will have eternal life with Him (Acts 16:9).

I am also playing along with the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create this card:

De-static the bottom right hand area of 4” x 5 ¼” piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from the Salvation stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing powder has cooled, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and adhere to a white card base.

Trim a piece of the Vivid Ink Drops paper to 3 ¾” x 5”, tear along an angle and ink the edges with purple ink.

Adhere the ink drops panel to the card front.

Die cut the cross image using the largest cross from the Crosses Dies from gold mirror cardstock. 

Die cut a second cross from extra thick white cardstock to layer behind the gold die cut.

Mount the die cut cross to the card front using dimensional foam.

Quick and easy!

Summer Roses Sympathy

Today I am sharing another sympathy card designed with stamps, dies, paper and other supplies from Stamp Simply.   

Unfortunately, it seems as though I am needing more sympathy cards than ever before.  As we get older, this is normally the case....

As many of you who follow my blog know, I enjoy playing along with online challenges and I decided to incorporate the As You See It #AYSI296 “Balance” Challenge for the layout and will also be linking to the Word Art Wednesday #591- #592 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to check out the inspiration from the Stamp Simply Design Team or the other challenge sites, I hope you will take the time to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

This card was another fairly quick one to create (lately, I have been so busy I am trying to design easier cards that are flatter for mailing).

The 4” x 5 ¼” piece of white cardstock for the background was embossed using the Lace embossing folder before trimming and adhering to a piece of black cardstock.

The two rectangle panels (per the sketch) were created with two different patterns from the Candy Ink Drops 6x6 paper (cut to approx. 2” x 3 ¾” and mounted onto black cardstock, trimming close to the edges).

The two panels were overlapped onto the embossed background and the background panel was adhered to a white card base.

The floral image and the “Thinking of You” sentiment from the  Floral Clusters Summer Roses stamp set were stamped onto white cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx Black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

The sentiment was die cut with an oval die and mounted onto a black oval (also cut with the same size die).

The floral image was colored with water-based markers and die cut with the coordinating die.  

Mount the floral image die cut onto a plain white die cut (to give the image more stability) and adhere to the card front with dimensional foam.

The “sympathy” sentiment from the Floral Clusters Summer Roses stamp set was stamped using Versamark ink onto black cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Once cooled it was die cut with the Farmhouse Sentiment Banners Dies.

The oval and banner sentiment were layered together before adding to the card front with dimensional foam.

The floral image was added as well with dimensional foam and the card as finished off with a few pearls.

Happy Anniversary Iris

Today I am sharing an Anniversary card designed with the brand new release stamp bundle, Happy Day Iris along with the new Echo Park My Favorite Spring 6x6 paper pad along with other supplies from Stamp Simply.

As I have mentioned before, irises were my Mother’s favorite flower and the Echo Park My Favorite Spring 6x6 Paper pad has such pretty pastels that pair well with irises as well as with the Craft Consortium Ink Drops- Vivid 6x6 paper pad!

To create this card:

Trim a piece of the light green designer paper from the My Favorite Spring 6x6 paper and a piece of light purple designer paper from the Craft Consortium Ink Drops- Vivid 6x6  paper pad (this was a scrap from my last Iris project) to approx. 2 ½” x 4” each.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock approx. 4” x 5 ½” with the Brickwork embossing folder. 

Add the piece of light green My Favorite Spring designer paper to the bottom of the embossed brick background panel.

Die cut the lace trim from white cardstock using the Tim Holtz Crochet Die and layer over the top edge of the light green strip.

Layer the light purple  Craft Consortium Ink Drops- Vivid 6x6 designer paper over the top of crochet die cut.

Adhere the entire layered background panel to a piece of 4 ⅛” x 5 ¼” black cardstock.

Add a strip of the light purple seam binding from the Blues Purples Seam Binding Bundle over the top edge of the white crochet die cut, wrapping the ends behind the panel.  Mount the panel onto a white card base.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the iris image from the Happy Day Iris Bundle with archival black ink onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the image with water-based markers and die cut with the coordinating Happy Day Iris die (also die cut another iris from plain white cardstock to adhere behind the colored image).

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with an elegant oval die , de-static with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from the  Happy Day Iris Bundle with archival black ink onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Layer the die cut oval sentiment directly onto the card front.

Adhere the colored/die cut iris onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Repeat the embossing process noted above for the word “Anniversary”, die cut with a rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Mount the rectangle die cut sentiment to the card front using dimensional foam.

Adhere the bow created from the same light purple seam binding (from the Blues Purples Seam Binding Bundle ) and add a few light green rhinestones.

To finish off the card, use a clear glitter marker to add shimmer to the iris petals.

The Card Concept #169 Cozy Cabin Challenge

It’s time for the #169 {Cozy Cabin} Challenge at The Card Concept!

I just love this inspiration photo!  The colors, the sweet little black dog on the pillow, the black dog figurines, the patterns and textures as well as the cozy theme inspired me to create a set of four Clean and Graphic/ Clean and Layered cards.

I decided to use the Stack -n- Cut Quilt technique (from Splitcoaststampers) for the background design.  I love the SNCQ technique and how you can create quick cards from single sheets of cardstock or designer paper. I also incorporated another favorite technique of mine, embossing- I use heat embossing on almost every card, lol!  

I enjoy playing along with online challenges and am playing along with the  “As You See It Challenge #268 “Techniques, Techniques” Challenge- Fav Technique of Mine is ……” Fav technique would be Heat Embossing and the Stack -n- Cut Quilt :-) 

I also incorporated the Tic-Tac-Toe #148 Challenge into the design- diagonal White- Free- Sentiment, across Sentiment-Embellishment (Ribbon)- Die Cut and down White, Stitching (Faux) and Die Cut.

Here is the entire set together:-) 

To create this set of cards:

Layer four pieces of cardstock together- I used solid colors versus patterned paper- White, Bashful Blue, Real Red and Midnight Muse. Since the cardstock is thicker, I did have a few rough edges but I trimmed slivers off the rough edges after the initial cutting.

On four pieces of scrap white cardstock (I have a very thin white cardstock in my stash), layer each piece of the stacked quilt pieces in a different position on each background. 

Adhere the pieces to the scrap background, and once finished, emboss with an embossing folder.

Trim the panels, mount onto white cardstock, trim again and mount onto black cardstock, trim once more and mount onto red cardstock.

Wrap a piece of 1” black satin ribbon over the background and wrap the ends behind the panel. Adhere the background panels onto a white card base.

De-static white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiments from Scripture Medley 5 (retired Verve Stamps) with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, die cut the verse sentiments with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Adhere to the card front with dimensional foam (or chipboard).

Die cut the various dog silhouette dies from black cardstock (I cut two of each).  Layer the die cuts together to create a thicker die cut.

To finish off the cards, mount a dog die cut to the card fronts with dimensional foam or chipboard.

Happy 70th Birthday with Tool Shed

 

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a card that I designed for a dear friend of ours who turned 70 last year in April.  I had mailed him a different card originally, but he never received it (maybe one day it will show up).  I am sure that the Post Office was overwhelmed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was the original card mailed:  

The original card (above) was quite a bit darker and was designed with the retired background stamp, Tool Shed (from Stampin’ Up!) along with a sentiment from a current set, A Godly Man from Stamp Simply.  

Below was the replacement card that I created (just delivered by hand to him recently) and it uses the same background stamp and the same verse, but this stamp is from the retired Verve Stamp set, Scripture Medley 3.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, I am working on creating a card for each of the Splitcoaststampers’ (SCS) Sketch Challenges and the original card uses the SC# Sketch for the design (I will link this later once I find my original note, lol!).  

FYI- The original card was created in the same way as the newer version, with just a bit more distressing and gold metallic added to the chipboard numbers.

I am participating with the As You See It #252 “Apply the Y” Challenge (masculine card) and the WordArt Wednesday #497-#498 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create both cards:

Ink the background Tool Shed stamp with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto white cardstock (for the replacement card) and on kraft paper for the first card, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

For the replacement card, use various distress inks- Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain to “antique” the paper.  For the original card, darker distressing was created by applying more ink, etc.  Use a small splatter stamp from Timeless Textures (retired SU!) to add additional distressing with black soot distress ink onto the background panel.

Distress the edges and adhere to a piece of black cardstock.

For the newer version, add a strip of 1” black satin ribbon at the top of the card. 

Create holes for the grommet type eyelets with a Crop-A-Dile™ and set the eyelets.

Add a scrap strip of black cardstock behind the panel where the openings of the grommets are located before mounting the panel onto a white card base.

Stamp the sentiment in the same manner as above, distress and mount onto black cardstock.  Adhere to the card front with dimensional foam (or chipboard).

Paint the chipboard numbers with black acrylic paint and adhere to the card front.
