Happy Mother's Day Iris

Hi Friends!

Happy Mother’s Day weekend!  Today I am sharing a fairly easy Mother’s Day card using stamps, dies, and paper all from Stamp Simply

This card incorporates an embossing folder as well as heat embossing, a bit of lace and seam binding, pretty designer paper, a die cut oval and a few pearls!

My mother loved spring when the irises would start to bloom- lilacs and irises were her favorite!  Purple is one of my favorite colors so I decided to create this card in honor of her.

 To create this card:

Using the Brickwork 3D embossing folder, emboss a piece of white cardstock, die cut an oval in the upper right area, tear off the bottom edge and set aside.

De-static a piece of the purple woodgrain patterned paper from the Beach Hut 6x6 paper pad (approx. 4 ¼” x 5 ¼”), ink the “Wishing You A” sentiment from Happy Day Iris with Versafine Onyx Black ink (positioning it to fit within the oval die cut), apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the brickwork embossed layer to fit over the sentiment and mount onto the Beach Hut paper (do not adhere on the lower left hand side of the oval to allow room for the banner sentiment in the next step), trim and onto lilac cardstock.

De-static a piece of black cardstock, ink the “Mother’s Day” sentiment from Happy Day Iris with Versamark ink and stamp onto the prepared panel.

Apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the sentiment with the Fishtail Sentiment Banners die, insert into the oval die cut and add dimensional foam under the banner.

Layer the lace near the bottom of the card front, add the lilac seam binding, wrapping the ends behind the panel.

Create a bow from the lilac seam binding, adhere the panel to a white card base.

Ink the iris image from Happy Day Iris with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the image with the coordinating die, color with water-based markers and adhere with dimensional foam to the card front.

Add a strip of the purple designer paper to the left hand side of the inside panel of the card base and finish off the card with a few pearls in the upper left hand corner of the card front.

TCC203 Happy Anniversary

Hi Friends!

Welcome to our #203 {NewYear Love} Challenge at the The Card Concept!

Look at our sweet inspiration photo!  I love the crisp, clean layers of the items on the tiered tray as well as the love theme and was inspired to create a Clean and Layered Mixed Media card.

I paired two different stamp sets with a scrap piece of designer paper (all from Stamp Simply) and a mixed media background using distress ink.

FYI- I thought that the background technique used to be called "Smakin' Acetate" (the tutorial at Splitcoaststampers has that technique using markers)  but I found a similar tutorial here at Splitcoaststampers using distress inks called "Wrinkle Free Distress"

We are looking forward to seeing what inspires your card! Will it be the overall theme, the colors, items in the photo/textures or something else?

If you have not already visited us at The Card Concept, I hope you will find the time to do so.  Gorgeous inspiration from the rest of my DT sisters!

This was a fairly quick and fun card to create:

Press Candied Apple Distress Ink onto a piece of acetate, spritz with water, then gently press a piece of white cardstock into the ink, repeating until you are pleased with the background.

Use a heat tool to dry the inked panel.

Once the panel has dried, de-static the lower right hand area with an embossing powder tool, ink the verse sentiment from the Love stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the panel to 4” x 5 ¼” and mount onto a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of black cardstock and mount onto a white card base.

Trim a piece of the Echo Park Love Notes 6x6 paper pad to 2” x 4” and mount onto a piece of black cardstock (trimming close to the edge).

Mount the layered designer series panel directly to the card front.

Die cut a piece of red cardstock with the largest heart die from the Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts Die.

De-static the die cut heart, stamp and emboss the sentiments from Happy Day Iris onto the heart and heat set with clear embossing powder.

Add the heart to the card front with dimensional foam.

Add a few pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Happy Day Iris, Love  (Stamp Simply)

Inks/Mediums: Versafine Onyx Black,  Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink

Cardstock/Paper: White, Black, Red; Echo Park Love Notes 6x6 Paper Pad

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr., Stamp Simply Dies- Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts, Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Acetate, Kaisercraft Self-Adhesive Round Pearls- Pearl

Happy Anniversary Iris

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing an Anniversary card designed with the brand new release stamp bundle, Happy Day Iris along with the new Echo Park My Favorite Spring 6x6 paper pad along with other supplies from Stamp Simply.

As I have mentioned before, irises were my Mother’s favorite flower and the Echo Park My Favorite Spring 6x6 Paper pad has such pretty pastels that pair well with irises as well as with the Craft Consortium Ink Drops- Vivid 6x6 paper pad!

I enjoy playing along with online challenges and am linking to the As You See It #270 Spring is in the Air Challenge, the Festive Friday #105 World Party Day (Sparkle, Bright Colors, Celebratory Sentiment, Rhinestones, Layers) and the Word Art Wednesday #533-#534 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not already had a chance to do so, I hope you visit the Stamp Simply blog to see all of the inspiration from the rest of the SS Design Team as well as the above challenge sites- gorgeous  galleries from all!

To create this card:

Trim a piece of the light green designer paper from the My Favorite Spring 6x6 paper and a piece of light purple designer paper from the Craft Consortium Ink Drops- Vivid 6x6  paper pad (this was a scrap from my last Iris project) to approx. 2 ½” x 4” each.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock approx. 4” x 5 ½” with the Brickwork embossing folder.

Add the piece of light green My Favorite Spring designer paper to the bottom of the embossed brick background panel.

Die cut the lace trim from white cardstock using the Tim Holtz Crochet Die and layer over the top edge of the light green strip.

Layer the light purple  Craft Consortium Ink Drops- Vivid 6x6 designer paper over the top of crochet die cut.

Adhere the entire layered background panel to a piece of 4 ⅛” x 5 ¼” black cardstock.

Add a strip of the light purple seam binding from the Blues Purples Seam Binding Bundle over the top edge of the white crochet die cut, wrapping the ends behind the panel.  Mount the panel onto a white card base.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the iris image from the Happy Day Iris Bundle with archival black ink onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the image with water-based markers and die cut with the coordinating Happy Day Iris die (also die cut another iris from plain white cardstock to adhere behind the colored image).

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with an elegant oval die , de-static with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from the  Happy Day Iris Bundle with archival black ink onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Layer the die cut oval sentiment directly onto the card front.

Adhere the colored/die cut iris onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Repeat the embossing process noted above for the word “Anniversary”, die cut with a rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Mount the rectangle die cut sentiment to the card front using dimensional foam.

Adhere the bow created from the same light purple seam binding (from the Blues Purples Seam Binding Bundle ) and add a few light green rhinestones.

To finish off the card, use a clear glitter marker to add shimmer to the iris petals.

You Have Been Healed

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing an Easter card designed with the brand new release Happy Day Iris Bundle along with the new Salvation stamp set and other paper, dies and supplies from Stamp Simply.

I love all of the new release stamp sets-they are absolutely gorgeous!  The two sets that I used for this card, the Happy Day Iris Bundle and Salvation stamp sets are perfect for Easter as well as all year round!

Whenever I see irises I think of my Mother- (they were her favorite flower) and the color of irises goes well with the Echo Park My Favorite Spring 6x6 Paper pad .  So many pretty pastels and the purple pattern from the Craft Consortium Ink Drops- Vivid 6x6 paper pad seemed to be the perfect match !

I enjoy playing along with online challenges and am linking to the Tic-Tac-Toe #151 Challenge (top row across, Bright Colors-Flowers-Ribbon/Twine), the Word Art Wednesday #533-#534 “Anything Goes” Challenge and the Simon Wednesday “Add a Die Cut” Challenge.

Emboss the panel with the Darice Vine Pattern Embossing Folder and adhere to the top of a piece of 4 ¼ ” x 5 ½” cardstock.

Trim a piece of the purple  Craft Consortium Ink Drops- Vivid 6x6 designer paper to approx. 3” x 5 ¼”, mount onto the bottom of the card front.

To cover the cut seams of the designer paper, add a strip of purple seam binding from the Blues Purples Seam Binding Bundle, wrapping the ends behind the panel.

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with an elegant oval die , de-static with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment and the cross from the Salvation stamp set with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.
