TCC203 Happy Anniversary

Hi Friends!

Welcome to our #203 {NewYear Love} Challenge at the The Card Concept!

Look at our sweet inspiration photo!  I love the crisp, clean layers of the items on the tiered tray as well as the love theme and was inspired to create a Clean and Layered Mixed Media card.

I paired two different stamp sets with a scrap piece of designer paper (all from Stamp Simply) and a mixed media background using distress ink.

FYI- I thought that the background technique used to be called "Smakin' Acetate" (the tutorial at Splitcoaststampers has that technique using markers)  but I found a similar tutorial here at Splitcoaststampers using distress inks called "Wrinkle Free Distress"

We are looking forward to seeing what inspires your card! Will it be the overall theme, the colors, items in the photo/textures or something else?

If you have not already visited us at The Card Concept, I hope you will find the time to do so.  Gorgeous inspiration from the rest of my DT sisters!

This was a fairly quick and fun card to create:

Press Candied Apple Distress Ink onto a piece of acetate, spritz with water, then gently press a piece of white cardstock into the ink, repeating until you are pleased with the background.

Use a heat tool to dry the inked panel.

Once the panel has dried, de-static the lower right hand area with an embossing powder tool, ink the verse sentiment from the Love stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the panel to 4” x 5 ¼” and mount onto a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of black cardstock and mount onto a white card base.

Trim a piece of the Echo Park Love Notes 6x6 paper pad to 2” x 4” and mount onto a piece of black cardstock (trimming close to the edge).

Mount the layered designer series panel directly to the card front.

Die cut a piece of red cardstock with the largest heart die from the Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts Die.

De-static the die cut heart, stamp and emboss the sentiments from Happy Day Iris onto the heart and heat set with clear embossing powder.

Add the heart to the card front with dimensional foam.

Add a few pearls to finish off the card.

We Love Because He First Loved Us

Hi Friends!

This week the Design Team at Stamp Simply are sharing cards using the Farmhouse Series Sentiments.  I love the combination of fonts used for all of the Farmhouse sets plus they are on sale this week!

I decided to create another quick card for Easter- I have found that lately I have been gravitating toward cards that are easy to mail with less bulk (I have not been able to hand-deliver my cards like I used to).

As many of you who follow my blog know, I enjoy playing along with online challenges and I decided to incorporate the
Simon Monday “Add Texture” Challenge  (the texture of the embossing folder in the background), the Fab -n- Funky #590 “Use Die Cuts” Challenge and the Can You Handle the Pressure “Anything Goes with a twist of Clouds” Challenge (I chose not to include the optional clouds :-)).

If you have not done so, I hope you have a chance to check out the inspiration from the Stamp Simply Design Team as well as from the other challenge sites! Gorgeous inspiration from all!

The white cardstock background was embossed with the Crosses embossing folder.  I trimmed the edges and mounted onto a piece of black cardstock.

The heart die from the Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts was used to cut a piece from the rose pattern Vivid Ink Drops 6x6 paper pad and two from black cardstock.

The sentiment from the Farmhouse Scriptural Quotes stamp set was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder onto the rose heart die cut before layering onto the two black die cut hearts.

Two of the crosses were die cut from black cardstock (using the larger cross in the Cross Die set) and one was die cut (and embossed) from silver mirror cardstock. FYI- I generally die cut three of most dies to give them stability (almost as thick as chipboard).

The heart/verse sentiment die cut and cross were layered with dimensional foam and the entire panel was adhered to a white card front.

Stamp Sets:   Farmhouse Scriptural Quotes (Stamp Simply)

Inks/Mediums:  Versafine Onyx Black

Cardstock/Paper: White, Black, Craft Consortium Ink Drops Vivid 6x6, Bazzill Mirror Cardstock- 8.5 x 11- Silver 15 ct

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr., Stamp Simply Steel Dies- Crosses,  Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts; Darice Embossing Folder- Crosses, Heat Tool, Clear Embossing Powder

I hope all of you have a blessed Easter and Resurrection Sunday!

Thanks again for taking the time to visit!  I hope you can drop by again soon.

Hello Sweet Friend

 Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a fun card designed with the new Cupid & Co 6x6 Paper Pad by Echo Park along with stamps and dies from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store!

This is such a cute paper pad- perfect for Valentines Day or other occasions- wedding, anniversary, etc.

As many of you know that follow my blog, I have a personal goal to create a card for each of the over 800 Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenges and used Sketch #828 for the layout on this card.

I am also participating with the Tic-Tac-Toe #096 Challenge (left column down Heart-Red-Ribbon) along with the Simon Says Wednesday “Layer It Up” Challenge.

If you have not had time to check out the Stamp Simply blog or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Cut a piece of black cardstock to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”, adhere the vertical floral and striped Cupid & Co paper to the panel.

Add a strip of red satin ribbon to cover the edges, wrap the ends of the ribbon behind the panel.

Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

Using the Tim Holtz Tag Collection Dies, die cut a tag from black cardstock.  Add a piece of the Cupid & Co paper to the tag.  Adhere a piece of white paper lace (die cut with the Tim Holtz Crochet Die) to the bottom of the tag and add a strip of red satin ribbon (again, wrapping the ends behind the tag).

Add the looped satin ribbon to the top of the tag and adhere to the card front using dimensional foam (or chipboard).

For the heart, use the tiny strips of paper that you normally trim off the top of each page in the Echo Park Cupid & Co 6x6 pad

Adhere the trimmed pieces and adhere them to a piece of white cardstock.  Die cut the “quilt” panel with the Farmhouse Pierced Nested Heart Dies.

Die cut another heart (the same size) from black cardstock, cut in half and mount behind the “quilted” heart.

Use an embossing powder tool to de-static a piece of white cardstock, stamp the sentiment from Typewritten Just Checking In using Versafine Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing powder has cooled, die cut with the Fishtail Sentiments Banner Dies, mount onto the quilt heart, and adhere the entire heart to the card front using dimensional foam to finish off the card.
